The Importance Of Prevention And Improvement Interventions
There are numerous current prevention and improvement initiatives taking place in the health care
system to reduce the occurrence of catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs). Some of
the most prominent interventions are to decrease the number of catheters being inserted and
removing the catheters as quickly as possible. Stamford Hospital located in Connecticut, USA,
implemented a CAUTI reduction project after noticing that education based approaches and
handwashing efforts had not decreased the incidence of CAUTIs. They implemented a nurse s
checklist for the justified use of catheters and timely removal of urinary catheters. They also added
a specific cathetercharting module in the electronic health record, and held biweekly... Show more

In the past, Foley catheters remained in place, and the need to continue them was not addressed
on a daily basis. But, with education and research this has changed. Education sessions offered
in hospital settings and huddles, for example, are perfect opportunities for the nurses to identify
patients with a Foley catheter on the unit and review strategies for decreasing infections
(Clayton, 2017). Knowing when catheters are being useful and when they are becoming an
issue and causing a problem is the key to identifying CAUTI s. Preventing CAUTI s begins with
avoiding unnecessary use of urinary catheters, developing policies for insertion and maintenance
of catheters, selecting the appropriate catheter, and instituting surveillance of CAUTIs and
catheter use. Protocols to eliminate CAUTI s will decrease their incidence and ensure better
quality care (Clayton, 2017). This research found that out of 517 hospitals, 56% of them did not
have a system to keep track of catheterized patients (Clayton, 2017). It was also found that 74% of
the hospitals did not keep proper records of how long an indwelling catheter has been in a patient
(Clayton, 2017). These flawed systems can be costly to patient safety and quality of care.
Improper education for health care workers is dangerous for patient care. The next study focused
on working with educators to make sure nurses were properly educated on the proper care of urinary

What Is The Rise Of The United Stats Economy From 1995 To...
From the mid 1990s until 2000, there were advancements in technology that drove the United
Stats economy into steady growth. From 1995 to 2000, the real GDP growth rate ranged
between 2% and 7%. In the 2000s, there were two economic downturns, both aligning with a
significant political or cultural event. The first big drop in real GDP growth was in Q1 of 2001
and then again in Q3 of 2001. GDP growth was suffering as the dot com bubble had burst. This
dot com bubble was a period of extreme growth due to a rise in the internet when many people
were keen on investing in internet based or computer based companies. Many of these companies
failed, which led to the burst. As this was happening, the September 11th terrorist attack occurred...

The Federal Funds Rate also started to rise during this period. As seen in Figures 4 and 5, the
number of houses under construction and housing prices during the mid 2000s were growing
extremely steadily. Similarly to the dot com boom, there was a housing boom due to the fact
that housing prices were growing and people were becoming more interested in investing in
houses. They believed that housing prices would continue to grow this steadily and investing
would be worth it in the long run, so much so that average people were buying houses just to turn
around and sell them for a profit. The average mortgage rate in 2001 was $90,000, which grew
over 60% to $150,000 in 2007. This unsustainable growth in housing prices led to another bursting
bubble. Not only were households very much in debt due to their high mortgages, but financial
firms were also so heavily indebted as they were selling risky loans.
This led to the Great Recession of 2008, which neatly aligned with the election of President Barack
Obama. This recession lasted from the first quarter of 2008, where the growth rate of real GDP
plummeted to 8.2%, until the third quarter of 2009. As with the recession of 2001, the
unemployment was a lagging indicator and it hit a high of 10% in October of 2009.
Unemployment rates were hit hard for the months following the recession. These extreme
downturns called for another intervention by the Federal Reserve. The Federal Funds Rate was
dropped to 0.16% in

The Importance Of Teachers On The Classroom Environment
In order to develop strong relationships with my students, colleagues, and parents, I plan to do a
variety of little things to yield big results. The relationship that teachers have with students is vital
to the classroom environment. In You ve Got to Reach Them to Teach Them, Mary Kim Schrek
writes that the human encounter between teacher and student is often a more powerful teaching
tool than the academic content, the grade, the data analysis, and the hours spent picking apart the
curriculum (Schrek, 2011, p. 5). In order to establish such relationships, I plan to follow a four step
procedure that I read about in an article by Nina Sears on the National EducationAssociation s
website. Sears article suggests that a teacher get to know their students, individualize the
curriculum, watch what they say, and keep trying to reach students (Sears, 2014). As an attempt
to get to know my students, I will create a little survey on the first day of school for each student
to fill out; questions would include asking my students what their favorite color is or what type
of books they like to read. By doing this, I will learn about my students likes and dislikes and
how to use their answer in the curriculum. Individualizing the curriculum might seem like a huge
undertaking but if a teacher is willing to work with the student, it is not a big deal. For example, I
was an auditory learner and I had a teacher who altered the project requirements so I could write a
song to

What Changes Have Happened Since 1945 In Technology
Essay pop culture technology
In this essay I will cover the changes that have happened since 1945 in technology and secondly I
will cover the influences that changed technology and thirdly I will talk about the positives and
negatives of the advances of technology.
What changes have happened since 1945 in technology? The main form of household
communications device most people had in their homes was the radio to listen to music and
also dance to it any time they wanted even when doing chores in the house as many people I
know still do not to mention my mother, she always listens to mix 102.3 when she is doing
chores and also when she is helping with my homework which is really important and she
always turns up the music when it s her favorite songs . Televisions existed in 1945, but they
were generally very expensive and the programming options were very few. In back to the future
which is a movie that was made in the 80s I saw a scene when Marty Mcfly was travelling to the
past and then when Marty was in his mother s house they bought a new television set which they
said was very expensive and was in black and white . The televisions exploded tremendously in
popularity in the 50s and 70s and know in the twenty first century people are buying more than one
television in their house.

Essay about Kyoto Protocol
After ten days of tough negotiations, ministers and other high level officials from 160 countries
reached an agreement this morning on a legally binding Protocol under which industrialized
countries will reduce their collective emissions of greenhouse gases by 5.2%. The agreement aims
to lower overall emissions from a group of six greenhouse gases by 2008 12, calculated as an
average over these five years. (UNFCCC, 2011)
In December of 1997, 160 countries gathered in Kyoto, Japan to agree upon a Protocol that will
curb emissions and hopefully restore emission levels to pre industrial numbers. This Protocol is the
Kyoto Protocol established by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Control. It is
widely believed that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The atmospheres absorption of this energy helps keep our average global temperature at an ideal
level for life. Notably important is the temperature of our oceans. Our oceans are compared to a
sink for carbon dioxide, in that they hold much of the carbon dioxide that would otherwise be in
the atmosphere (Wikipedia, 2011). As the temperature of the oceans rise, they absorb less and
less carbon dioxide. Thus increasing the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and
increasing the global mean temperature, creating a snowball like effect, that would be nearly
impossible to reverse. To prevent this catastrophe the Kyoto Protocol was established as a global
legally binding agreement (Wikipedia, 2011). The objective of this agreement was to provide
financing for developing countries. The financial aid would go towards new technologies to help
these countries develop in a more sustainable manner. The Protocol also hoped to install
mechanisms that report, verify, and review the carbon emissions of each country. Lastly, the
countries that helped create the Kyoto Protocol wanted it to be a legally binding agreement that had
consequences for countries who failed to meet their emission target. The Kyoto Protocol was
established as a part of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Control (UNFCCC).

Civilian Conservation Corps Research Paper
Would the beautiful state parks that we have today still exist if the Civilian Conservation Corps
never happened? Well, that is up for debate, but nobody can argue that they didn t do a lot of
work. The Civilian Conservation Corps or CCC was launched twenty nine days after Franklin
Delano Roosevelt took office. The CCC members did anything from planting trees to building trails
that you can see at state and national parks.
Next, The CCC offered work to young men with few employment options. The workers had to
be between the ages of eighteen and twenty six, unemployed, and not married. The CCC men
were payed thirty dollars; five dollars stayed with them and twenty five dollars was sent home.
Most of the members gained twelve pounds of muscle. Former CCC member Harley Jolley said, I
became a healthy teenager. The CCC men also learned how to work together and were taught skills
that would help them in the military. All of the men left the camps knowing how to read, write, and

the camps followed the U.S. Army s racist segregation policies (1). Most black men served in all

Park (1).
Finally, Pearl Harbor was bombed on December 7th, 1941 which sealed the fate of the CCC
camps. Resources and men were needed to fight the war, therefore the men of the CCC camps
were sent to war. After the war the CCC members had no trouble finding work because all
construction companies knew that the former CCC men did good work. The amount of work the
members put in helped them succeed in life after the war and

What is The Meaning of Free Will in Life Essay
Free will is the idea in which individuals can have the power of acting without the constraint of
necessity or fate, and this idea of free will served as a prevalent theme in Kurt Vonnegut s
Slaughterhouse Five. Vonnegut illustrates the absurdity of no free will in Pilgrim s world through
the book s nonlinear structure and unorganized plot. The novel is constructed as a series of
inconsistent flashbacks and future incidents through the eyes of the protagonist, Billy Pilgrim. Billy
Pilgrim is able to time travel to the past and future, but without any control over his peculiar ability.
He can constantly travels through any moment in time without controlling it. Instead of free will
existing, the notion of predestination and fate controlled... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Vonnegut states, Billy has gone to sleep a senile widower and awakened on his wedding day. He
has walked through a door in 1955, and come out another one in 1941. He has gone back through
that door to find himself in 1963. He has seen his birth and death many times, he says, and pays
random visits to all the events in between (23). Pilgrim is able to visit and revisit different
periods of time constantly without any influence or choice of his doing in the matter. Because
Pilgrim is able to see into the past and future, he cultivates unsympathetic feelings and is
indifferent, which shows that Pilgrim loses a sense of value of himself. He lacks passion in his
life as he does not truly appreciate everything and everyone he has. Having no free will would
persuade individuals to hold no motivation or determination in their lives because it would not
matter in a fate controlled world. Moreover, predestination and fate would take the place of free
will if it did not exist in the world. Believing that one s life is already decided for and planned
entirely would defeat the purpose of life as people would not be able to experience life due to
the choices they make and want. Knowing that an individual is destined to follow a particular
path in life without any chance to avoid or change it will change the person s outlook on life. In
the novel, Pilgrim married Valencia Merble even though he didn t love her and thought she was as
big as a

Chapter 2: Generating and Protecting Business Ideas
Case Study What a Spectacle!
(p13 p22)
1. A Franchise is when a franchisor of a business gives the franchisee of another business the right
to supply its product or service under the same brand identity. Specsavers is a very successful
franchise for example.
2. Apart from franchising, two sources of business ideas are identifying a market niche which
involves noticing that something is missing from the market or that can be improved on. Also
spotting trends and anticipating their impact which involves creating or develop a product or
service to suit patterns or trends in the market.

However, opening a Boots franchise is a high risk as the original Boots was obviously not
making enough money to survive and Halpin is opening under the same business name so the
chances of gaining a reasonably high profit from selling the same products and services is
unlikely. Glasses Direct was at a high risk as Murray Wells is only 22 and still at university and so
he started the business through his ВЈ1000 student loan. This means that he has to earn enough to
gain a profit allowing the business to survive as well as paying off his student loan. Finally,
Glasses Direct is an online store and so Murray doesn t have to pay rent or electric bills meaning
that overall he had lower outflows than Halpin because Halpin has to pay rent and electricity bills.
6. The web based, Glasses Direct business may have more potential to grow than a Boots
franchise as Halpin can make his own decisions about the business allowing further growth. Also
selling online means that he can sell his products globally but the cost of delivery and advertising
will increase. Furthermore, Murray has the choice to add new suppliers to sell a different range of
products unlike boots because in the franchise agreement all Boots stores have to sell the same
products. Also, Glasses Direct sell much

Ww2 Environmental Effects
World War II is one of the finest examples of a total war. Countries around the world mobilized vast
empires to fight battles in Europe, Africa, and Asia. Resource production and weapon
experimentation marred the environment, causing repercussions still visible today. However, some
consequences of the war benefited the environment, complicating the Second World War s
environmental history. Gerard Weinberg, in his text World War II: A Very Short Introduction,
focuses on Hitler s War in Europe. He ignores the ways the war shaped the environment, and how
the environment shaped the methods of warfare. Environmental destruction during WWII
influences modern life in places around the world, but it was not warfare that destroyed most of the

WWII s cataclysmic warfare had little, if any, permanent impact on the environment; however,
weapons experimentation in numerous places have caused permanent destruction of natural
habitats. Gruinard Island, known as the Isle of Death, is where British scientists experimented
with anthrax spores as a potential biological weapon on the island in 1942 and 1943. Anthrax is
highly contagious, and may enter the body through an open wound, by being ingested with
undercooked meat, or by inhalation of the spores. Scientists tested the anthrax spores on Gruinard
Island in a variety of ways that lead to the complete contamination of the island, including deep
into the soil. The British never used anthrax as a biological weapon, but after the war, the island
was too deadly to return to its owners. From 1948 to 1968, scientists tested the soil, and each time
found it to have unsafe levels of anthrax. In 1979, because of mounting threats from the public, the
government performed an in depth examination of the land and found the spores had lost little
potency. The cool climate kept the spores dormant, but there were fears that a warm weather period
could produce a second generation of anthrax. Gruinard s most contaminated areas underwent an
extreme decontamination process, and after allowing sheep to graze on

Zelda Fitzgerald Essay
Zelda Fitzgerald
Zelda Fitzgerald began life looking forward to what it could offer her. A popular debutante and
success at everything she had yet to try enticed her to believe that she was infallible. It was only
during her later life that she realized that life, both physically and mentally, had its breaking point.
Though many things have been blamed as the cause of her mental breakdown, there is no specific
root to her problem. Diagnosed as schizophrenic in 1930, Zelda would be condemned to spending
the rest of her life in and out of mental health facilities, the place where she would take her final
breath, killed by a fire in 1948.

Zelda s mental state can be examined. Zelda s letters ranged in emotions depending on the state
of her illness, and the length of time of her stay at Les Rives de Pragins. In the beginning she
seems despondent writing, Every day it seems to me that things are more barren and sterile and
hopeless (Bryer, 80).[2] Towards the middle of her treatment Zelda seems angry with Scott,
blaming him for her disease, To me, it is not astonishing that I should look on you with
unfriendly eyes, you could have saved me all this trouble... (Bryer, 85). At the end of her first
year of treatment Zelda s letters become more hopeful and loving, reminiscent of the letters
between Zelda and Scott during their youth. In one, Zelda writes, You are a sweet person the
sweetest and dearest of all and I love you as I love my vanished youth which is as much as a
human heart can hold (Bryer, 109). Soon following this letter, after a year and three months of
treatment Zelda was discharged.

Brush Fire Analysis
Writer , Linda Thomas, in her essay, Brush Fire, discusses the Santa Ana winds experienced in
Southern California and how it affects the people and the weather. Well known essayist , Joan
Didion, in her essay, The Santa Ana, describes the winds and the effects it has on the way the
people behave. Both Thomas and Didion s essayshave a similar subject and circumstance, the Santa
Ana winds but, both essays vary in numerous ways. The details, tone, and how the message is
being told are ways in which both essays differ. These essays are an example of one topic being
portray through different lights.
In Brush Fire, Thomas begins to convey recollected memories of a day on which she experienced
the Santa Ana winds. She tells the details in chronological order starting from the moment she
woke up and ended in the present tense. Thomas stated, I know this because this morning I awoke
to air so dry that the graze of my nightgown against the down comforter created tiny orange sparks
(Thomas). Thomas ended with a different tense from which she began her essay. She said, We are
here to watch the orange flames color the sunset. (Thomas). She also included details that incite
imagery while talking about the environment of southern California by saying, Chaparral is
gorgeously beautiful from the crooked red brown wood... the sturdy shaft of yucca... with spikes
of creamy blossom, to brilliant orange threads of dodder vine. (Thomas). Didion also uses
imagery but unlike Thomas, Didion conveys the imagery using the future tense. Didion states, ...
we will see smoke back in the canyons, and hear sirens in the night (Didion). The difference in
the way that both essays begin to unfold resonate in the tense that is used. Tone plays an
important role in how the message of each essay is being conveyed. This tone of both essays is
one way in which they differ. Thomas uses a calm, poetic tone whereas Didion uses a more
scientific and intellectual tone. Phrases in which the tone of Thomas text is revealed includes, ... I
smell the odours of burning sagebrush, I can also... watch the flames lick up a hillside... a teenage
couple... lost in embrace, passionate kisses no one seems to notice. We are hear to watch the

Analysis Of Open By Andre Agassi
Many youngsters can have a hard time understanding parents and other people who belong to elder
generations and the other way around. This can have something to do with the time we are born in
and our mentality along with our way of thinking. This may be the topic in the extract from Andre
Agassi s autobiography Open from 2009, where it focuses on the relationships between the
generations. But why exactly are the characters from the different generations having such a hard
time understanding each other? And why has Andre written this text? When analysing the text s
style of writing, it is interesting to look at the structure of it. The text has a very common structure
that implies a by line which is followed by the headline, Open. Subsequently... Show more content

This can have something to do with how the culture is in Iran, where the 2nd and 3rd generation

How Did Shakespeare Influence Sir Francis Drake
Famous Influences Throughout William Shakespeare s life, the Sixteenth Century encompassed
an overpowering need for new ideas and different opinions. Also, culture flourished within the
civilization of Europe. Not only did Shakespeare change the way people viewed plays, he also
lived among notable contemporaries. During the Sixteenth Century, many famous artists and
explorers presented themselves and influenced the people around them. A few people during
Shakespeare s life still make an impact through their impressive accomplishments. Three famous
people who lived during the Shakespearean Era were Sir Francis Drake, Queen Elizabeth I, and
Galileo Galilei. Initially, Sir Francis Drake travelled the world as a renowned explorer. Born in the
1540s, Francis Drake discovered his love for exploring during his teenage years. By 1577, a captain

influences through the art of public speaking. Lucas uses a quote from the Greek leader Pericles
, One who forms a judgement on any point but cannot explain it clearly might as well never have
thought at all on the subject ( Lucas,2012,p.4) Lucas uses this point to clarify the fact that you
have to know a lot about the subject you are speaking on to gain credibility. Later on in chapter
one Lucas talks about developing confidence while speaking in front of a group of people .
Lucas goes on to give statistics like public speaking is the number one fear for 40% of americans
according to a 2001 Gallup Poll. After stating some statistics he begins to give some tips on how
to gain confidence in public speaking. Lucas ends chapter one by discussing speaking in a
multicultural world. America is the most diverse society on earth, therefore as cultural diversity
increases speechmaking becomes more complex. the complexity comes from the differences in
languages and meaning. Even basic messages are culturally based. Lucas is trying to convey that
you have to be culturally aware when you are giving speeches to a large group of people. After
reading chapter 1 of The Art of Public Speaking , I have came to the realization that preparing for a
speechis more than doing research and planning out

Hospital Risk Management Plan Analysis
Hospital Risk Management Plan Can you foresee the future? Facility managers (FM) put forth a
concerted effort to do just that when preparing a 600 bed hospital risk management plan.
Fortunately, much data can be gleaned from various sources for the project manager to use in
developing the plan which is unique to that particular hospital facility. A comprehensive risk
managementplan can insure the organization s facility is operating at the level it was designed to
achieve. At the same time the plan will keep unanticipated facility expenses at a minimum due to
proper facility maintenance.
Purpose Goal of a Risk Management Plan In a effective risk management plan the project manager
seeks to foresee risks as well as potential problems in order to estimate their impact on the
healthcare facility. These include facility maintenance issues, enhancements to the facility as an
asset as well as unfavorable events. Once these risks have been identified, a comprehensive
response to the potential issues is compiled. The goal of the response is to minimize the negative
impact of the risks on the hospital s ability to reach their objectives. It is also critical that the
hospital be able to return to full operation as soon as possible when an adverse event occurs.
Scope of a Risk Management Plan In order to reach the goals of the risk management plan, the
scope of the plan must be established (Sans Institute, 2002). This is a critical part of

Case on Maggi
Summary
Think about noodles and the first name comes to the mind is: Maggi. At one point of time, it had
a market share of 90%. But, in June 2015, it was reported that tests found high amounts of lead
and MSG in Maggi noodles, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India ordered country
wide withdraw and recall for all the variants of Maggi Instant Noodles and Oats Masala Noodles.
What will NestlГ© do to bring Maggi back and gain the trust of the consumers in Maggi, once

That trust will take a knock, but on balance, the brand has done well enough to deserve a second
chance, if it handles the current crisis with utmost honesty and transparency. NIL, during the
tough time, took the help of social media to keep connected with the consumers. And the reaction
and support by the consumers was overwhelming. People still ask when Maggi will be back and
they can enjoy it all over again. People share a lot of memories with Maggi and in order to relive
those moments, they want Maggi to be back.
All these things confirms the strong consumer loyalty for the Maggi noodles. It will not be very
surprising that Maggi again gained its original market share in a short time once it comes back on
the shelves. The need of the hour is to take the right path to reach the consumers. This will be done
by taking the help of promotions and keeping the consumers connected and updated of the latest
developments in bringing Maggi back to stores.
In 2003, when worms were found in some Cadbury chocolate bars in Maharashtra, the company had
to undertake a high profile marketing campaign, change its outer packaging and provide
explanations to the consumers and the government before its brand perception was restored.
In August, tests performed by the US health regulator FDA showed no presence of dangerous lead
levels in the products.

Compare And Contrast Greek And Persian Empires
The Greece and Persian Empires There were four great multicultural Empires in our world s
history Ancient Greece, The Roman Empire, Persia and China. I am going to focus on Ancient
Greece and the Persian Empire, what geographical features did each region offer to help the
people build these great empires, what were some of the cultures of this empires, and what
changes did they have over time? Going further into details on the Persian Empire, who were two
of the leaders and what contributions did they make to Persia, what methods did they use to
expand the region and gain power? How did the political system change over time?
Ancient Greece is found to be on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean, due to its location it was
possible to trade with other parts of the area and not depend solely on crops grown in the area.
The region of the Mediterranean where Greece is found is on the coast of the Aegean Sea it
contains rugged mountains, and valleys. Being on the coast made the use of ships necessary this
also put the people of Greece at risk for land attacks from armies bigger than the Greek armies.
Also the region was at risk for volcanos, large ocean storms, and catastrophic earthquakes that
could destroy cities without notice. In Persia there were two groups of people who settled the in
the region who left a major impact on the area s history the Medes and the Persians. The Medes

Ruby Bridge Through My Eyes Essay Thesis
Imagine you love to go to this deli and you have been going to that deli your whole life. One day
you walk in and you see everyone staring at you. They say because of your skin color that you re
not able to come back. This actually happened in the 1960 s because Whites thought anyone who
was African American didn t deserve the same goods that Whites did. The African Americans
started boycotting and in 1964 African Americans got the same rights as everyone else.
Segregation affected the people living in the United states in many ways. One way is that African
American kids did not get the same education that Whites did. In Ruby Bridges Through my
Eyes, Ruby takes a test to see if she will get into an all white school. She goes to an all black
school and they don t have the same tools that they do in the all White school. In Segregation, the
kids thought that when they got the same rights they would be able to do the same things like

Rhoda s jealousy plays an important role throughout the story. In her desperation and curiosity to

back on her appearance. I shall want to send to the market, and you ll be pretty sure meet her. ...You
can giver her a look and tell me what she s like, if you do see her.
Hardy uses the supernatural event of Rhoda speculating the ghost to bring a sense of mystery and
tension into the readers mind. At this point we grasp a gruesome, witch image of Gertrude with
features shockingly disorted and wrinkled by the age. His use of words and description brings
the dream to reality; making the reader feel as though they are experiencing it. When Gertrude
reveals her left limb to Rhoda, it forces Rhoda to make believe that she is a witch. Our belief to
whether Rhoda really is a witch is then strongly influenced as Gertrude says, ...my husband says
it is as if some witch, or the devil himself had taken hold of me there... Gertrude s desperation and
journey to find a cure for her diseased arm means she must transact a gruesome deed; to touch
with the limb the neck of a man who s been hanged...before he is cold just after he is cut down.
The more educated and upper class did not share the faith in witchcraft of the lower class. It is a

Jan Van Eyck s Arnolfini Double Portrait
In the article Sexuality and Social Standing In Jan van Eyck s Arnolfini Double Portrait the
author analyzes the religious and social grammars of marriage. This short paper will be a
reflection of Harbison s article that discusses religious and marital norms throughout, with also
analyzing various sections of van Eyck s piece, for example: implying the piece as a marriage
document or contract of the marriage, which immediately makes the viewer look deeper into the
double portrait. All of this helped me realize that pieces of art are not simply pictures, rather
they are narratives like a scene in a documentary. The author starts the article with a clear thesis
of analyzing the social religious and marital norms when this piece was made. There are different
scenes of this portrait that van Eyck s uses throughout to identify social standards of the time this
piece was done. The fruit is there to identify the intimacy of marriage. The dog and gargoyles also
represent various implications of religiosities. Going in enormous detail of what everything means.

feel that this statement was hugely important because it changes the entire dynamic of the
conclusion. From that point on it is implied that the author has an open mind of the piece at hand,

director (artist) of this piece to examine how he wanted to tell this families

The Drum Beater By Karoo Ashevak
The Drum Beater
Throughout history, many different cultures illustrate their history and their beliefs through various
artistic objects that they create. These artifacts allow historians to better gage their lifestyle, their
beliefs, and how their society operated. One example of this is the Drum Beater sculpting created
by Karoo Ashevak that is especially famous for its illustrations of the shamans and the spirits. In
this research paper, Karoo Ashevak s drum beater will be dissected and analysed; from the Inuit
culture itself, to the physical features of the sculpting, as well as the significance and symbolism of
the sculpting as it relates to the Inuit culture.
To understand the significance of the drum beater , it is essential to understand the Inuit culture
that created this sculpting based on its beliefs. The Inuit s are aboriginal people who mainly
inhabit the northern region of Canada. As of 2011, there was just under 60,000 people who
identified themselves as Inuit, which is roughly 4.2% of the total aboriginal population(need a

in the northern parts of Canada. Although the Inuit lifestyle has evolved as times have changed,
their culture remains mostly the same. Many of their traditions are still continued to this day,

Christ And The Sea
Christ and the Sea
Santiago is an old fisherman from Cuba. He s a man who doesn t have much, except for a strong
will. From the things he does to the things that he says, he is perceived, by the means of literary
analysis, as a Christ figure. For one thing, Santiago is a fisherman. This is the clearest biblical
allusion in the entire novel, and it comes straight from the title itself. His endurance throughout
the book also reflects the spirit of faith that Christ had, giving us the impression that the old man
might have some sort of unspoken bond with the fish, like Christ with his strong love for
humanity. The old man struggles and even succeeds in his attempt to catch the fish, only to see it
ripped and torn away from him. This is parallel to the story of Christ, who had to bear suffering
and betrayal until his death. In many senses, Santiago s endeavor symbolizes the labor of Christ
described in the Gospels. The Ichthys has its origin from the well known miracle about how Christ
fed five thousand with five small loaves and two fish . The religious symbolism behind the Jesus
Fish is reiterated a multitude of times throughout the Bible. Several of Jesus disciples are fisherman,
and He even goes as far as to tell them that he will make them fishers of men . Further ahead,
Jesus is offered grilled fish after having been resurrected. The significance of fish in the Bible is a
large one, and it s no different in The Old Man and the Sea. Most of the novel is set in the

Lord Byron s Darkness tackles humanities degradation, through a post apocalyptic description of
earth in order to challenge societies ignorance relating to nature s significant role in sustaining
genuine life and developing truth. Composed in the Year Without A Summer, whereby the world
was succumbed in volcanic ash clouds, Byron cultivates a sense of irony and metaphorical
substance in the title of this poem. Darkness itself expounds on the fear and uncertainty striking
society contextually. Thus, the bleak, gloomy mood is symbolic of the dangers incited when
forgoing nature s bliss in the industrial metropolis which ultimately disregards core ways of
Romantic thinking. Aiding such is the paradoxical remark of I had a dream, which was not at all a
dream here true existence is intertwined with an elusive reality. Subsequently, Byron s perplexing
tone prompts the audience to query the corruptive demeanour of humankind within the natural
world as civilisations consecutively and continually overlook their genuine existence with scientific
and rational progression. Therefore, within the philosophical paradigm the notion of truth is
presented with an inseparable linking to nature If mankind relentlessly questions the truth of his

Eukaryote and Prokaryote Bacterial Cells Differences
Abstract
This paper explores the functional anatomical differences between prokaryote and eukaryote
bacterial cells and the process by which substances move across the cell membranes. The cell
theory is a widely accepted explanation of the relationship between cells and living things. The
cell theory states All living things or organisms are made of cells and their products, new cells
are created by old cells dividing into two, and cells are basic building units of life (Tortora et al,

Its division is by binary fission. Prokaryotes have no histones, their DNA is not associated with
histones whereas, and the DNA of eukaryotes is consistently associated with these special
chromosomal proteins called histones and with no histone. Bacteria species are differentiated by
morphology, biochemical activities, source of energy and chemical composition. Bacteria comes
in great many sizes and several shapes. Most bacteria range from 0.2 to 2.0 um in diameter and
from 2 to 8 um in length. Three basic cellular arrangement of bacteria shapes are coccus( spherical),
bacillus (rod shaped), and spiral(twisted), Only pleomorphic bacteria like rhizobium and
corynebacterium can assume varieties of shapes.
However, among the structures external to the prokaryotic cell wall are the glycocalyx, flagella,
axial filaments, fimbriae and pili. Many Capsules Prokaryotes secret on their surface a
substance called glycocalyx (meaning sugar coat), which surrounds the cell. This is referred to

The Water Supply For Caracas Flow From 2 Major National Parks
Based on the country s population, there s a large percentage of people living in the big cities
which has the greatest water availability . Cities usually use, reservoirs to sub sustain their
population. Caracas gets their water supplies from these reservoirs: Camatagua, La Mariposa, La
Pereza, Taguaza, Taguacita, Lagartijo, Quebrada Seca, Macaroa river, and Cuira (Gonzalez 2015).
Most of these water supplyfor Caracas flow from 2 major national parks. The water supply is
limited because of the amount of people living in the capital. What attracts people are the
abundance of water but then there are issues of when the water supplies run out. Venezuela as a
country is prone to droughts even with Caracas being in the tropical regions of Venezuela. The
important surface body of water is the Macaroa which is an important watershed to the city.
Some of these water supplies come from the El Avila national park as does from the Macaroa

Eukaryotic Chemotaxis Lab Report
Delving into the Process of Eukaryotic Chemotaxis The mechanism in which cells move either
towards, or away from a stimulus is referred to as chemotaxis (1). Chemotaxis is initiated in
eukaryotic cells when the cells first sense an external chemotactic gradient (2). The presence of
this gradient is sensed by a class of receptors, called 7 transmembrane heterotrimeric G protein
coupled receptors (GPCRs) (2). As the name implies, these proteins are located in the plasma
membrane of eukaryotic cells. This external gradient triggers an intracellular Phosphatidylinositol
(3,4,5) trisphosphate (PIP3) gradient to form (2). PIP3 is a phospholipid that is located in the

(14). When Dictyostelium are exposed to various cAMP concentrations, more pseudopodia are
formed and are extended towards the areas of high cAMP concentrations (14). This process is
mirrored by neutrophils, which extend pseudopodia rhythmically towards positive chemotactic

Stewardship As A Whole Function
Stewardship in Nursing
Andreas Munk
The concept of stewardship is an ongoing part of nursing. As defined by Merriam Webster
dictionary, stewardship is the activity or job of protecting and being responsible for something. In
this case that something corresponds to the nursing field as a whole. The concept of stewardship is
not thought of as often as it should be. Sometimes stewardship can be confused with religious
meanings or often is simply not a topic that is heavily weighted. However stewardship is indeed an
intricate concept that is vital for the overall success of nursing. I believe stewardship in nursing is
the ability to improve, enhance, and oversee the prosperity of how nursing as a whole functions.
Stewardship entails many areas of concern such as safety, increased autonomy from other health
care professions, accreditation, economics, and most importantly the overall needs of the patient.
As nursing s future continues to change, stewardship is vital in developing life long learning
practices and ultimately shaping current and future leaders. In order for standards of practice to
support the future, nurse leaders demonstrating stewardship must be able to collaborate to form
innovative models of care delivery in order to best serve the patient and work efficiently within the
health care system. In this paper I will be discussing what defines stewardship and why it is
important in nursing. Next, current issues involving stewardship in

Fascism in the Twentieth Century
Fascism in the Twentieth Century; Hitler and Nazism
Fascism is one of the most controversial political terms in modern history. The lack of a
universally accepted definition for the term has meant that it can and has been applied to a wide
variety of political contexts. Fascism developed from the destruction caused by the First World
War. Its origins can be traced, however, to the intellectual revolt against liberalism in Europe at the
end of the nineteenth century. While there was a revolutionary reaction against the ideals of the
French Revolution before 1914, it was the First World War which acted as a real catalyst for the
emergence of fascism. The war swept away the Hohenzellern, Halsburg and Romanov dynasties in
Germany, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although it was a complex procedure, Hitler proved himself to be both a skilled political
manipulator and an original military strategist. But above all, Hitler was a rabid ideologist. As a
result of his actions, the Hitler state destroyed the legacy of imperial and Weinmar Germany and
undermined the humane values of German culture.
Unlike in Italy, the rise of fascism in Germany occurred in one of the world s most advanced
economies, for the German modernisation and industrialisation process during the nineteenth
century had helped to create a powerful state. Political extremism in Germany developed further
from the failure of the state and society to manage the complex problems arising from the country s
sudden defeat at the end of the First World War in 1918.
Although the First World War created the necessary conditions to enable the rise of Nazism
,
Nazi ideology was derived from the intellectual and political underworld of pre 1914 Germany.
Before 1914, this far right ideology which was heavily focused on anti Semitism, remained on the
political fringe and had little influence on domestic policies. Hitler himself, for example, although
later greatly influenced by the Austrian anti Semitism of Karl Leuger (1844 1910), was a failed art
student and architect whose personal apathy prevented him from enjoying the bourgeois (upper
class) lifestyle that he craved. He, like other failures in the German and Austro Hungarian empires,
found in anti Semitism a

The Eye Of The Needle
The Eye of the Needle
The Eye of the Needle was always an iconic place along the Missouri until May 1997 when it
collapsed under suspicious circumstances. On the expedition of Lewis and Clark, the White
Cliffs of Montana was a signature site described by Lewis. One of the extraordinary landmarks
was the Eye of the Needle, which Meriwether Lewis first described its scenery by comparing its
magnificent rock formations to elegant ranges of lofting freestone buildings, having their parapets
well stocked with statuary (Burns, 1997). This was 1800 s talk, which doesn t make sense to most
people nowadays. Looking at an old picture of the Eye of the Needle that my grandfather took
while rafting the Missouri, I can see the beauty that people raved about.
The rock structure is so perplexing. The arch made up of multiple boulders doesn t look like
anything that nature could ever make naturally. It defies gravity standing on the very top of the
rock wall lining the rushing Missouri. The light grey structure has thousands of crevices that
formed themselves from natural wear and tear over time. 200 feet up, it towers over the Missouri
River keeping a watchful eye on all of the wildlife.
When blogger Chris describes this beautiful place he said,
The Eye of the Needle could be seen a few miles upstream while floating the Missouri River, and
from a distance it appeared to be just that a tiny window allowing some of the sky to shine through.
The structure was only about 11 feet high,

When People Talk About The Word в
ЂњFashion,” It Automobility
When people talk about the word fashion, it automobility provides a sense of popular styles of
clothing, accessories, and makeup. Fashion influences not only on people s behaviors, but also
influences the society as a whole, such as socially and economically. In Adorned in Dreams, the
author Elizabeth Wilson, introduces that fashion is a form of art, and people can use fashion to
express their ideas, beliefs, and desires. Wilson also introduces the history of fashions in order to
prove that people can use fashion to express different belief systems, social values, and public
desires during each time period. In Subculture The Meaning of Style, Dick Hebdige believes
people can use fashion as a tool to express their beliefs. In this case,... Show more content on

In nowadays, buying luxury brands is not only showing a sign of wealth, but also a kind of
rewards for people s hard working. Luxury products sell high market prices because of their
designs, brand names, and the qualities. People want to buy luxury products because their
quality is better than target brands. For example, the brand like Bottega Veneta is known for its
traditional design of leather goods; their handbags are handmade in Italy. Comparing to Bottega
Veneta to target brands, Bottega Veneta s design will not easily out of style, but target brands
will easily out of styles because their designs are relatively ordinary. However, in the recent year,
some luxury brands reputation has gone done because those brands were shifting their factories
to other countries and then shipping back to Italy just for the label. Technically, the phrase Made
in Italy is not really manufacture in Italy anymore, sometimes this product s qualities are not as
good as before. There is a rising concern of whether these luxury goods really match with the
expensive price tags. In Adorned in Dreams, Wilson introduces that people express their ideas,
beliefs, and desires through fashion. It does not matter that people from which social classes,
people would express different belief systems, social values, and public desires through Fashion.
Fashion, in a sense is change, and in modern western societies no clothes are

Mobile marketing is more than a trendy new media channel; it is a powerful communication tool
with considerable audience reach and awareness. Over 85% of the population in the UK use a
mobile phone and 80% across Western Europe. With such high penetration, mobile marketing
campaigns can reach all audience demographics (over 70% penetration in all the age ranges up to
64 years of age).

3.
4.
Messaging based Marketing using SMS and MMS;
Browser based
Marketing using the mobile internet in WAP format via banner ads and interstitials; Voice based
Marketing using voice lines; and
Emerging
Current cutting edge campaign formats which are being used by just a few specialist agencies.
Examples include use of Java games, voice mail marketing and Location Based Services (LBS).
Many of the formats defined above can also be targeted at fixed line/land line customers. For the
purposes of this primer we focus purely on the opportunities to target the mobile customer base with
the mobile phone.
It was only a few years ago that the mobile channel was used experimentally for the first time as a
marketing tool. At the time the complexities of the technology, the specialist knowledge required
and the contractual difficulties of working with the mobile networks made delivering mobile
marketing campaigns an area only for the determined.
Today, these hurdles have been largely removed. The value chain supporting mobile marketing has
developed significantly

Rightly Detected Truths In Sherwood Anderson s Hands
While investigating one of the largest mysteries known to human civilization, atomic structure,
British chemist John Dalton wrote, It s the right idea, but not the right time (online). Although
Dalton was profoundly incorrect in his analysis of the atom and its structure, his written words
regarding the importance of rightly ordered truths could not be of greater importance for making
and sustaining human connections throughout time. For the duration of human existence, romantic
love and dating has always remained one of the largest hurdles an individual must face in his or her
lifetime. Often considered a pivotal ingredient in any robust affinity between two parties, every
relationship must be rightly ordered; that is to say, the relationship... Show more content on

An incredibly crucial component of modern love remains having relationships that are rightly
ordered . Unfortunately for Wing Bittlebaum, most of his obsessions were incorrectly ordered.
Although sexual relationships between adults and children are obviously inappropriate for any
time period or location, Bittlebaum s relationship with Willard was incorrectly timed by
approximately sixty years. Despite not necessarily being an allegory for any modern problem in
particular, Sherwood Anderson s Hands provides incredible insight into human need and want, and
the drive to fulfill one s desires while ignoring a rightly ordered life in favor of an incorrect balance.
Although many relationships can flourish without necessarily being ordered perfectly, Wing
Bittlebaum s many illegal and unwanted relationships could never have succeeded due to his lack
of understanding and empathy. Although not considered to be the pinnacle of knowledge regarding
poetry, John Dalton s famous expression, It s the right idea; but not the right time (online) rings true
in Sherwood Anderson s short story

Gustav Holst s The Planets
Gustav Holst was a British composer born in Cheltenham in 1874. The Planets nearly took Gustav
two years to compose because he had other jobs on the side, like teaching, which he did almost his
entire life. He believed that The Planets wasn t his best works, though it was an immediate success.
Along with the success of The Planetshis work load and his stress levels also rose. In 1924 he was
ordered to take a break, by his doctor, in the country where he could compose his music without
any problems or other stresses. Gustav Holstdied on the 25th of May 1934 of congestive heart
failure. The live performance of The Planets that I observed was conducted by Maciej Tarnowski.
He started experimenting and learning how to play instruments... Show more content on

The hall was very well lit the whole time during the performance. I expected for the hall to be
dimmed just to make the room feel more intimate, but I guess I had a bias idea of what a
classical performance should look like. I found the venue to be small compared to what o was
anticipating. The walls to the venue seemed to be made out of a white marble and it had a huge
beautiful organ as the back drop. There were also two balconies, one in each side of the room, and
a large chandelier in the middle that shined on the orchestra below. The venue could probably be
classified as a warm/ friendly environment.
The attire of the orchestra was the usual black and white tux for men and the black dressy
dresses for the ladies. Being that it was a classical music event, I didn t see anything out of the
ordinary with the outfits and the colors didn t call my attention in any way either. It was the
normal, expected look that you would see for these type of performers to have. I saw a few lace
dresses, some had embroidery, and others were just plain black dresses. As for the men they
looked like copies of one another. They had the same bow tie, same dress shirt and the same suit

news of his spouse s death enduring a moment with a grief storm; she weeps alone in the house,
she cried of unconscious but realized finally freedom had set in. Their life together was full
oppression. Death was the only thing which could make her happy and that the same reason why

Tet Offensive Essay
The Tet Offensive played a key role triggering a wave of peak anti war movements after that.
Moreover, after that event, American media took an increasingly unfavorable view of U.S.
public policy . It was remarkable that in the evening broadcast on February 27, 1968, Walter
Cronkite broke the rule by giving such comment on CBS evening news: To say that we are
closer to victory today is to believe in the face of the evidence, the optimists we have been wrong
in the past. To suggest we are on the edge of defeat is to yield to unreasonable pessimism. To say
that we are mired in stalemate seems the only realistic, yet unsatisfactory, conclusion. At the same
time, General Westmoreland was reported to have requested more than 260,000 additional troops
by the New York Times. All of these events became a catalyst to a public protest.

which divided the country, was echoed by violence in the streets, which divided the country
further. The Vietnam War was attributed to dividing the country since 1965, when American army

lives in the battle fields grew up dramatically after that. According to statistics, the number of
soldiers killed in the war was 300 . The result from Gallup poll opinion Americans look back at

Women Go Into Leadership
Title:
Women go into leadership female style or male style?
The Pitch:
The debate about the difference in leadership style of women and men continues to attract attention
since women make strides into leadership position dominated mainly by men. Men have long been
holding these leadership roles and have defined styles accepted by people. Therefore, it is not
surprising that women are usual the focus in terms of the discussion on gender difference in
leadership styles. There seems to be great disagreement about the behaviour of women and men
actually performing such roles (Eagly, 2001). This disagreement on this focus can be divided into
two groups. One is the no difference camp, who commonly agreed that there are few differenced in

In other words, communal aspects are more presented in a transformational leadership style. While
transformational leaders are portrayed to have a personalized view of each co worker and they
often take into account their colleagues individual needs and development (Eagly, 2003).
Based on Eagly and Johannesen Schmidt theory, female and male forms of leadership and
empowerment seem to be different. Communal and transformational characteristics are more
presented by women than men. So some women exhibited an open and participatory leadership
style. Additionally, women are perceived to work harder and take their work more seriously, and
women are less concern with salary than the recognition of a good done of job (Alvesson, 2009).
The focus of the debate concentrates on: In what context leadership style shows a similarity or a
slight difference between women and men and is there a specific female form of leadership? This
documentary shows the different leadership styles of women by case studies. It will investigate
whether or perhaps there is a specific female style of leadership preferred by a majority of women.
POV:
Social role theory of sex differences and similarities convincingly explains the sex differences in
leadership style. At the same time, there are certain expectations coming from co workers towards
their leaders when they are

Essay On The Man In The Red Bandana
The Man in the Red Bandana
By: Gwen S. Beep, Beep, Beep. it was my annoying alarm clock. I rolled over and the alarm clock
read 7:04, I realized I had to be to work at 7:30. Hurriedly I jumped out of bed and ran into my
closet and put on whatever I could find. I ran downstairs and I didn t have time to eat breakfast
so I grabbed an apple and ran outside. People were giving me weird looks and I looked down and I
was still wearing slippers and a stained shirt. I put on my jacket to hide my stained shirt, but I
was still wearing bunny slippers. I was so embarrassed. Running down the streets I made it to

the clock read 9:02 and I closed my eyes. Crash! flames were everywhere there was wreckage and
debris everywhere and I realized a plane had crashed into the wall. I was on the floor and I
reached for Gabbie but she wasn t moving. I felt to see if she was breathing and fortunately she
was. I looked around and saw Bill, Tammy, Ted, Charlie, Jen, and all my other co workers and
some were moving but others weren t I crawled to Bill and he wasn t breathing. I was coughing
from the smoke in the air and was crying. The fire stung my skin. I crawled to Gabbie, I couldn t

some died. I felt like the floor was gonna gave in any second so we didn t move. Huddled together
we thought we were gonna die, we sat in silence, realizing the end, thinking about the past.
We heard footsteps and a young man around his 20s he had a red bandana covering his nose and
mouth, we didn t know who he was but he was our last chance at survival he came in and told us,

  • 2. The Importance Of Prevention And Improvement Interventions There are numerous current prevention and improvement initiatives taking place in the health care system to reduce the occurrence of catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs). Some of the most prominent interventions are to decrease the number of catheters being inserted and removing the catheters as quickly as possible. Stamford Hospital located in Connecticut, USA, implemented a CAUTI reduction project after noticing that education based approaches and handwashing efforts had not decreased the incidence of CAUTIs. They implemented a nurse s checklist for the justified use of catheters and timely removal of urinary catheters. They also added a specific cathetercharting module in the electronic health record, and held biweekly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the past, Foley catheters remained in place, and the need to continue them was not addressed on a daily basis. But, with education and research this has changed. Education sessions offered in hospital settings and huddles, for example, are perfect opportunities for the nurses to identify patients with a Foley catheter on the unit and review strategies for decreasing infections (Clayton, 2017). Knowing when catheters are being useful and when they are becoming an issue and causing a problem is the key to identifying CAUTI s. Preventing CAUTI s begins with avoiding unnecessary use of urinary catheters, developing policies for insertion and maintenance of catheters, selecting the appropriate catheter, and instituting surveillance of CAUTIs and catheter use. Protocols to eliminate CAUTI s will decrease their incidence and ensure better quality care (Clayton, 2017). This research found that out of 517 hospitals, 56% of them did not have a system to keep track of catheterized patients (Clayton, 2017). It was also found that 74% of the hospitals did not keep proper records of how long an indwelling catheter has been in a patient (Clayton, 2017). These flawed systems can be costly to patient safety and quality of care. Improper education for health care workers is dangerous for patient care. The next study focused on working with educators to make sure nurses were properly educated on the proper care of urinary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. What Is The Rise Of The United Stats Economy From 1995 To... From the mid 1990s until 2000, there were advancements in technology that drove the United Stats economy into steady growth. From 1995 to 2000, the real GDP growth rate ranged between 2% and 7%. In the 2000s, there were two economic downturns, both aligning with a significant political or cultural event. The first big drop in real GDP growth was in Q1 of 2001 and then again in Q3 of 2001. GDP growth was suffering as the dot com bubble had burst. This dot com bubble was a period of extreme growth due to a rise in the internet when many people were keen on investing in internet based or computer based companies. Many of these companies failed, which led to the burst. As this was happening, the September 11th terrorist attack occurred... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Federal Funds Rate also started to rise during this period. As seen in Figures 4 and 5, the number of houses under construction and housing prices during the mid 2000s were growing extremely steadily. Similarly to the dot com boom, there was a housing boom due to the fact that housing prices were growing and people were becoming more interested in investing in houses. They believed that housing prices would continue to grow this steadily and investing would be worth it in the long run, so much so that average people were buying houses just to turn around and sell them for a profit. The average mortgage rate in 2001 was $90,000, which grew over 60% to $150,000 in 2007. This unsustainable growth in housing prices led to another bursting bubble. Not only were households very much in debt due to their high mortgages, but financial firms were also so heavily indebted as they were selling risky loans. This led to the Great Recession of 2008, which neatly aligned with the election of President Barack Obama. This recession lasted from the first quarter of 2008, where the growth rate of real GDP plummeted to 8.2%, until the third quarter of 2009. As with the recession of 2001, the unemployment was a lagging indicator and it hit a high of 10% in October of 2009. Unemployment rates were hit hard for the months following the recession. These extreme downturns called for another intervention by the Federal Reserve. The Federal Funds Rate was dropped to 0.16% in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Importance Of Teachers On The Classroom Environment In order to develop strong relationships with my students, colleagues, and parents, I plan to do a variety of little things to yield big results. The relationship that teachers have with students is vital to the classroom environment. In You ve Got to Reach Them to Teach Them, Mary Kim Schrek writes that the human encounter between teacher and student is often a more powerful teaching tool than the academic content, the grade, the data analysis, and the hours spent picking apart the curriculum (Schrek, 2011, p. 5). In order to establish such relationships, I plan to follow a four step procedure that I read about in an article by Nina Sears on the National EducationAssociation s website. Sears article suggests that a teacher get to know their students, individualize the curriculum, watch what they say, and keep trying to reach students (Sears, 2014). As an attempt to get to know my students, I will create a little survey on the first day of school for each student to fill out; questions would include asking my students what their favorite color is or what type of books they like to read. By doing this, I will learn about my students likes and dislikes and how to use their answer in the curriculum. Individualizing the curriculum might seem like a huge undertaking but if a teacher is willing to work with the student, it is not a big deal. For example, I was an auditory learner and I had a teacher who altered the project requirements so I could write a song to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What Changes Have Happened Since 1945 In Technology Essay pop culture technology In this essay I will cover the changes that have happened since 1945 in technology and secondly I will cover the influences that changed technology and thirdly I will talk about the positives and negatives of the advances of technology. What changes have happened since 1945 in technology? The main form of household communications device most people had in their homes was the radio to listen to music and also dance to it any time they wanted even when doing chores in the house as many people I know still do not to mention my mother, she always listens to mix 102.3 when she is doing chores and also when she is helping with my homework which is really important and she always turns up the music when it s her favorite songs . Televisions existed in 1945, but they were generally very expensive and the programming options were very few. In back to the future which is a movie that was made in the 80s I saw a scene when Marty Mcfly was travelling to the past and then when Marty was in his mother s house they bought a new television set which they said was very expensive and was in black and white . The televisions exploded tremendously in popularity in the 50s and 70s and know in the twenty first century people are buying more than one television in their house. As years and years went on, ... • 6. Essay about Kyoto Protocol After ten days of tough negotiations, ministers and other high level officials from 160 countries reached an agreement this morning on a legally binding Protocol under which industrialized countries will reduce their collective emissions of greenhouse gases by 5.2%. The agreement aims to lower overall emissions from a group of six greenhouse gases by 2008 12, calculated as an average over these five years. (UNFCCC, 2011) In December of 1997, 160 countries gathered in Kyoto, Japan to agree upon a Protocol that will curb emissions and hopefully restore emission levels to pre industrial numbers. The atmospheres absorption of this energy helps keep our average global temperature at an ideal level for life. Notably important is the temperature of our oceans. Our oceans are compared to a sink for carbon dioxide, in that they hold much of the carbon dioxide that would otherwise be in the atmosphere (Wikipedia, 2011). As the temperature of the oceans rise, they absorb less and less carbon dioxide. Thus increasing the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and increasing the global mean temperature, creating a snowball like effect, that would be nearly impossible to reverse. To prevent this catastrophe the Kyoto Protocol was established as a global legally binding agreement (Wikipedia, 2011). The objective of this agreement was to provide financing for developing countries. The financial aid would go towards new technologies to help these countries develop in a more sustainable manner. The Protocol also hoped to install mechanisms that report, verify, and review the carbon emissions of each country. Lastly, the countries that helped create the Kyoto Protocol wanted it to be a legally binding agreement that had consequences for countries who failed to meet their emission target. The CCC members did anything from planting trees to building trails that you can see at state and national parks. Next, The CCC offered work to young men with few employment options. The workers had to be between the ages of eighteen and twenty six, unemployed, and not married. The CCC men were payed thirty dollars; five dollars stayed with them and twenty five dollars was sent home. Most of the members gained twelve pounds of muscle. • 10. What is The Meaning of Free Will in Life Essay Free will is the idea in which individuals can have the power of acting without the constraint of necessity or fate, and this idea of free will served as a prevalent theme in Kurt Vonnegut s Slaughterhouse Five. Vonnegut illustrates the absurdity of no free will in Pilgrim s world through the book s nonlinear structure and unorganized plot. The novel is constructed as a series of inconsistent flashbacks and future incidents through the eyes of the protagonist, Billy Pilgrim. Billy Pilgrim is able to time travel to the past and future, but without any control over his peculiar ability. He can constantly travels through any moment in time without controlling it. Vonnegut states, Billy has gone to sleep a senile widower and awakened on his wedding day. He has walked through a door in 1955, and come out another one in 1941. He has gone back through that door to find himself in 1963. He has seen his birth and death many times, he says, and pays random visits to all the events in between (23). Pilgrim is able to visit and revisit different periods of time constantly without any influence or choice of his doing in the matter. Because Pilgrim is able to see into the past and future, he cultivates unsympathetic feelings and is indifferent, which shows that Pilgrim loses a sense of value of himself. He lacks passion in his life as he does not truly appreciate everything and everyone he has. Having no free will would persuade individuals to hold no motivation or determination in their lives because it would not matter in a fate controlled world. Moreover, predestination and fate would take the place of free will if it did not exist in the world. Believing that one s life is already decided for and planned entirely would defeat the purpose of life as people would not be able to experience life due to the choices they make and want. Knowing that an individual is destined to follow a particular path in life without any chance to avoid or change it will change the person s outlook on life. However, opening a Boots franchise is a high risk as the original Boots was obviously not making enough money to survive and Halpin is opening under the same business name so the chances of gaining a reasonably high profit from selling the same products and services is unlikely. This means that he has to earn enough to gain a profit allowing the business to survive as well as paying off his student loan. Finally, Glasses Direct is an online store and so Murray doesn t have to pay rent or electric bills meaning that overall he had lower outflows than Halpin because Halpin has to pay rent and electricity bills. 6. WWII s cataclysmic warfare had little, if any, permanent impact on the environment; however, weapons experimentation in numerous places have caused permanent destruction of natural habitats. Gruinard Island, known as the Isle of Death, is where British scientists experimented with anthrax spores as a potential biological weapon on the island in 1942 and 1943. Anthrax is highly contagious, and may enter the body through an open wound, by being ingested with undercooked meat, or by inhalation of the spores. Scientists tested the anthrax spores on Gruinard Island in a variety of ways that lead to the complete contamination of the island, including deep into the soil. The British never used anthrax as a biological weapon, but after the war, the island was too deadly to return to its owners. From 1948 to 1968, scientists tested the soil, and each time found it to have unsafe levels of anthrax. In 1979, because of mounting threats from the public, the government performed an in depth examination of the land and found the spores had lost little potency. Well known essayist , Joan Didion, in her essay, The Santa Ana, describes the winds and the effects it has on the way the people behave. Both Thomas and Didion s essayshave a similar subject and circumstance, the Santa Ana winds but, both essays vary in numerous ways. The details, tone, and how the message is being told are ways in which both essays differ. These essays are an example of one topic being portray through different lights. In Brush Fire, Thomas begins to convey recollected memories of a day on which she experienced the Santa Ana winds. She tells the details in chronological order starting from the moment she woke up and ended in the present tense. Thomas stated, I know this because this morning I awoke to air so dry that the graze of my nightgown against the down comforter created tiny orange sparks (Thomas). Thomas ended with a different tense from which she began her essay. She said, We are here to watch the orange flames color the sunset. (Thomas). She also included details that incite imagery while talking about the environment of southern California by saying, Chaparral is gorgeously beautiful from the crooked red brown wood... the sturdy shaft of yucca... with spikes of creamy blossom, to brilliant orange threads of dodder vine. (Thomas). Didion also uses imagery but unlike Thomas, Didion conveys the imagery using the future tense. Didion states, ... we will see smoke back in the canyons, and hear sirens in the night (Didion). The difference in the way that both essays begin to unfold resonate in the tense that is used. Tone plays an important role in how the message of each essay is being conveyed. This tone of both essays is one way in which they differ. Thomas uses a calm, poetic tone whereas Didion uses a more scientific and intellectual tone. Phrases in which the tone of Thomas text is revealed includes, ... From the things he does to the things that he says, he is perceived, by the means of literary analysis, as a Christ figure. For one thing, Santiago is a fisherman. This is the clearest biblical allusion in the entire novel, and it comes straight from the title itself. His endurance throughout the book also reflects the spirit of faith that Christ had, giving us the impression that the old man might have some sort of unspoken bond with the fish, like Christ with his strong love for humanity. The old man struggles and even succeeds in his attempt to catch the fish, only to see it ripped and torn away from him. This is parallel to the story of Christ, who had to bear suffering and betrayal until his death. In many senses, Santiago s endeavor symbolizes the labor of Christ described in the Gospels. The Ichthys has its origin from the well known miracle about how Christ fed five thousand with five small loaves and two fish . The religious symbolism behind the Jesus Fish is reiterated a multitude of times throughout the Bible. Several of Jesus disciples are fisherman, and He even goes as far as to tell them that he will make them fishers of men . Further ahead, Jesus is offered grilled fish after having been resurrected. • 39. Stewardship As A Whole Function Stewardship in Nursing Andreas Munk The concept of stewardship is an ongoing part of nursing. As defined by Merriam Webster dictionary, stewardship is the activity or job of protecting and being responsible for something. In this case that something corresponds to the nursing field as a whole. The concept of stewardship is not thought of as often as it should be. Sometimes stewardship can be confused with religious meanings or often is simply not a topic that is heavily weighted. However stewardship is indeed an intricate concept that is vital for the overall success of nursing. I believe stewardship in nursing is the ability to improve, enhance, and oversee the prosperity of how nursing as a whole functions. Stewardship entails many areas of concern such as safety, increased autonomy from other health care professions, accreditation, economics, and most importantly the overall needs of the patient. As nursing s future continues to change, stewardship is vital in developing life long learning practices and ultimately shaping current and future leaders. In order for standards of practice to support the future, nurse leaders demonstrating stewardship must be able to collaborate to form innovative models of care delivery in order to best serve the patient and work efficiently within the health care system. In this paper I will be discussing what defines stewardship and why it is important in nursing. Next, current issues involving stewardship in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Fascism in the Twentieth Century Fascism in the Twentieth Century; Hitler and Nazism Fascism is one of the most controversial political terms in modern history. The lack of a universally accepted definition for the term has meant that it can and has been applied to a wide variety of political contexts. Fascism developed from the destruction caused by the First World War. Its origins can be traced, however, to the intellectual revolt against liberalism in Europe at the end of the nineteenth century. While there was a revolutionary reaction against the ideals of the French Revolution before 1914, it was the First World War which acted as a real catalyst for the emergence of fascism. The war swept away the Hohenzellern, Halsburg and Romanov dynasties in Germany, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although it was a complex procedure, Hitler proved himself to be both a skilled political manipulator and an original military strategist. But above all, Hitler was a rabid ideologist. As a result of his actions, the Hitler state destroyed the legacy of imperial and Weinmar Germany and undermined the humane values of German culture. Unlike in Italy, the rise of fascism in Germany occurred in one of the world s most advanced economies, for the German modernisation and industrialisation process during the nineteenth century had helped to create a powerful state. Political extremism in Germany developed further from the failure of the state and society to manage the complex problems arising from the country s sudden defeat at the end of the First World War in 1918. Although the First World War created the necessary conditions to enable the rise of Nazism , Nazi ideology was derived from the intellectual and political underworld of pre 1914 Germany. Before 1914, this far right ideology which was heavily focused on anti Semitism, remained on the political fringe and had little influence on domestic policies. Hitler himself, for example, although later greatly influenced by the Austrian anti Semitism of Karl Leuger (1844 1910), was a failed art student and architect whose personal apathy prevented him from enjoying the bourgeois (upper class) lifestyle that he craved. He, like other failures in the German and Austro Hungarian empires, found in anti Semitism a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. The Eye Of The Needle The Eye of the Needle The Eye of the Needle was always an iconic place along the Missouri until May 1997 when it collapsed under suspicious circumstances. On the expedition of Lewis and Clark, the White Cliffs of Montana was a signature site described by Lewis. One of the extraordinary landmarks was the Eye of the Needle, which Meriwether Lewis first described its scenery by comparing its magnificent rock formations to elegant ranges of lofting freestone buildings, having their parapets well stocked with statuary (Burns, 1997). This was 1800 s talk, which doesn t make sense to most people nowadays. Looking at an old picture of the Eye of the Needle that my grandfather took while rafting the Missouri, I can see the beauty that people raved about. The rock structure is so perplexing. The arch made up of multiple boulders doesn t look like anything that nature could ever make naturally. It defies gravity standing on the very top of the rock wall lining the rushing Missouri. The light grey structure has thousands of crevices that formed themselves from natural wear and tear over time. 200 feet up, it towers over the Missouri River keeping a watchful eye on all of the wildlife. When blogger Chris describes this beautiful place he said, The Eye of the Needle could be seen a few miles upstream while floating the Missouri River, and from a distance it appeared to be just that a tiny window allowing some of the sky to shine through. The structure was only about 11 feet high, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In nowadays, buying luxury brands is not only showing a sign of wealth, but also a kind of rewards for people s hard working. Luxury products sell high market prices because of their designs, brand names, and the qualities. People want to buy luxury products because their quality is better than target brands. For example, the brand like Bottega Veneta is known for its traditional design of leather goods; their handbags are handmade in Italy. Comparing to Bottega Veneta to target brands, Bottega Veneta s design will not easily out of style, but target brands will easily out of styles because their designs are relatively ordinary. However, in the recent year, some luxury brands reputation has gone done because those brands were shifting their factories to other countries and then shipping back to Italy just for the label. Technically, the phrase Made in Italy is not really manufacture in Italy anymore, sometimes this product s qualities are not as good as before. There is a rising concern of whether these luxury goods really match with the expensive price tags. Rightly Detected Truths In Sherwood Anderson s Hands While investigating one of the largest mysteries known to human civilization, atomic structure, British chemist John Dalton wrote, It s the right idea, but not the right time (online). Although Dalton was profoundly incorrect in his analysis of the atom and its structure, his written words regarding the importance of rightly ordered truths could not be of greater importance for making and sustaining human connections throughout time. For the duration of human existence, romantic love and dating has always remained one of the largest hurdles an individual must face in his or her lifetime. Unfortunately for Wing Bittlebaum, most of his obsessions were incorrectly ordered. Although sexual relationships between adults and children are obviously inappropriate for any time period or location, Bittlebaum s relationship with Willard was incorrectly timed by approximately sixty years. Despite not necessarily being an allegory for any modern problem in particular, Sherwood Anderson s Hands provides incredible insight into human need and want, and the drive to fulfill one s desires while ignoring a rightly ordered life in favor of an incorrect balance. Although many relationships can flourish without necessarily being ordered perfectly, Wing Bittlebaum s many illegal and unwanted relationships could never have succeeded due to his lack of understanding and empathy. There were also two balconies, one in each side of the room, and a large chandelier in the middle that shined on the orchestra below. The venue could probably be classified as a warm/ friendly environment. The attire of the orchestra was the usual black and white tux for men and the black dressy dresses for the ladies. To suggest we are on the edge of defeat is to yield to unreasonable pessimism. To say that we are mired in stalemate seems the only realistic, yet unsatisfactory, conclusion. Men have long been holding these leadership roles and have defined styles accepted by people. Therefore, it is not surprising that women are usual the focus in terms of the discussion on gender difference in leadership styles.
