What’s Involved in an NPQ?
NPQs have been designed to be completed flexibly and around
existing commitments. Depending on the NPQ chosen, a course
of study can last between 12 and 18 months. The specific pro-
vider will determine the course content, structure and method
of delivery.
Who Are NPQs Aimed At?
NPQs have been created for teachers and leaders wishing to
develop their knowledge in specialist areas. There are cur-
rently eight NPQs available. There are four leadership NPQs
in senior leadership, executive leadership, headship and early
years leadership. There are also four NPQs aimed at those
who want to improve their expertise in specialist areas of
teaching practice.
3. As part of studying
towards an NPQ,
participants will take
part in face-to-face
sessions, self-directed
study and webinars.
Students will learn from
an evidence-based
curriculum that draws
on current research,
best practice and
current pedagogy.
Knowledge and Skills
As part of studying towards an
NPQ, participants will take part in
face-to-face sessions, self-directed
study and webinars. Students will
learn from an evidence-based cur-
riculum that draws on current re-
search, best practice and current
pedagogy. The aim is to equip par-
ticipants with the knowledge and
skills required to either improve in
their current role or take the next
step in their career. Learners will be
asked to answer an assessed case
study-based question, which forms
the summative assessment.
