Faculty Commitment to Excellence
Fortis College Values
Core values are enduring beliefs that drive the way we do business professionally and
personally. We rely on them as guiding principles for how we treat our students and our co-
workers. At Fortis, we have defined a set of values that underlie our work, established how we
should interact with each other, and developed strategies to fulfill our mission.
• INTEGRITY – We educate our students and operate our schools with uncompromised
integrity and transparency.
• STUDENT-FOCUSED OUTCOMES – All decisions align with our students’ best interests
regarding their educations and careers. We continually strive to be innovative leaders in our
industry.
• COMMITMENT – We are a passionate and driven team, focused on outstanding results.
• SERVICE EXCELLENCE – We are service driven and respectful of all stakeholders (students,
employees, employers, investors, and community)
• RESPECT – We are a diverse organization and respect every individual within our
organization and community.
Fortis College Institutional Goals
• To develop each student’s individual and professional growth,
including written and interpersonal communication, critical thinking,
and problem-solving competencies.
• To develop each student’s professional attitude and an awareness of
contemporary career practices through exposure to pragmatic course
content.
• To promote self-discipline and motivation so that students may enjoy
success in their career and in society.
• To attract and retain effective and qualified instructors who are
familiar with current medical and/or technical practices, and who
motivate and develop students.
Fortis College Institutional Goals (cont.)
• To offer sound diploma and associate of applied science programs.
• To maintain a dynamic organization that is responsible and responsive
to its constituencies.
• To minimize economic disadvantages as a barrier to postsecondary
education by providing educational funding information, guidance,
support services and financial aid services and by accepting students
without regard to age, sex, religion, race, physical challenges, or
economic or social background.
• To assist graduates in finding positions for which they are trained.
Fortis College Online Four Pillars for Excellence
To support our students success, and inevitably our
success, we need to be…
1. STUDENT-FOCUSED: To inspire growth…
2. COMMUNITY-FOCUSED: To foster collaboration…

For us, this means that…
Instructor Roles

promote peer interaction
amongst our students…

content knowledge in our field
of study…
: we develop
templates and tools to
streamline the management of
our online courses…
: we provide

verifiable Professional Development activity each calendar year.
• Professional Development activities can include, but are not limited to,
professional seminars, CEUs, advanced degrees in discipline, presentations to
professional organizations within the discipline, online webinars, etc.
• Professional Development refers to development within the discipline for
which you have been hired to teach!
• You must provide documentation of your participation in these Professional
Development activities to your Program Associate Dean no later than
December 31st each year.
In-Service Requirements
• All faculty are required to complete a minimum of four (4) clock hours of
verifiable In-Service activity each calendar year.
• In-Service activities can include, but are not limited to, participation in Virtual
Training Academy (VTA) courses offered in-house, required trainings offered
by Fortis throughout the year, optional trainings offered by Fortis, in-person

Quarterly Faculty Meetings
Quarterly Faculty Meeting Requirements
• All Fortis Online and Hybrid faculty are required to participate in quarterly
online meetings, held four times throughout the calendar year.
• Prior to each meeting, you will receive an invitation from the Education
Department that will include all login information you will need to participate.
• During these meetings, vital information will be shared so it is important for
all faculty to be present. However, if you are unable to participate due to
emergency, please contact your Program Associate Dean so arrangements can
be made for you to participate in a “make-up” meeting session.
• Occasionally, these meetings will also include a training component, which
will also satisfy your In-Service requirements.
