Graduation Speech On The Forgotten Art Of Online Games
During my senior year, I didn t care about my classes because I had already been accepted to a
few colleges of my choice, so I slacked off because I thought I was done with highschool. All I
thought I needed to do was maintain my current grades. Because I slacked off, I did not research
for my research project. A few months went by and I saw my classmates working on their
projects, while I drifted into the abyss alone like the restless wind and the endless ocean wave. I
did not know what to do nor where to start. One of those drifting day I was playing an online
MOBA(multiplayer online battle arena) game called League of Legends with a few close friends.
Then, it clicked. I finally got the idea for my project. Deep in my heart, I know that I am a gamer.
Therefore, I must follow my nature and bring out the forgotten art of online games. smoke wee The

Questions In The Classroom. Currently, I Begin My Lesson
Questions in the Classroom
Currently, I begin my lesson with questions. Each year brings a classroom full of students with
different personalities and learning styles. I am blessed this year to have a very inquisitive class
that love to ask questions and find the answers. There are many times when they have questions, I
allow them to research the answer. In this, I find that they learn more than just me telling them the
answer.
My students this year are not only inquisitive, but also very intelligent. I found myself having to
really plan out my questioning for my lessons to make sure that I am challenging my students and
helping them with higher order thinking skills. Fortunately, I have resources such as Blooms
Taxonomy to help ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The following are strategies that I would like to implement in my classroom.
Hot Seat
The teacher places key questions on different seats around the room. When prompted, students will
check their seats and answer the questions. Students who do not have a hot seat question are asked
to agree or disagree with the reply and explain their thinking concerning their answer to the
question. (2012)
Feedback: Redirecting, Probing, and Responding
A teacher s response to students answers is just as important as the question asked. A response may
redirect students when an incorrect answer is given or students misinterpret the question. Teachers
may probe for further explanation when a partial answer is given. Finally, teachers may validate a
correct response. ( Questioning Techniques: Research Based Strategies for Teachers Energy and the
Polar Environment Beyond Penguins and Polar Bears )
Walk and Talk
Pair or group up students and have them go on a walk while they discuss the provided questions. (
Walk, Talk, Decide )

The Epic of Gilgamesh Compared
(1) The black demon saw a beautiful woman and out of all the nobel women. He picked the one
that was about the be married. He kidnapped her on her wedding night. It shows that the black
demon does things impulsively. He does not care of the consequences. It shows that since he is
a demon. He does not fear the consequences of men. When he saw her he could not longer live
without her. When he kidnap her. He locked her in box showing that he does not trust the
women he kidnap with other men. It also means he wants to keep her pure. She was kidnap on
her wedding night so she did not have sex yet so the demon believed she was pure. The untainted
virgin that has not been violated by men was his and his only. When he traveled he took her out
of the box and wanted to sleep beside her. It shows when he his comfortable. He would sleep
better beside her. The women was the demon s most prized possession. It is like comparing the
women to a boy s secret toy. When a boy is around someone he would hide his secret toy from
everyone. When the boy is alone he would take it and worship it. This meaning is similar to
Metamorphoses when Apollo wanted Daphne. Even though she refused him. He impulsively try to
rape her. She was turned into a tree, but he still tried to rape the tree. Another text with the similar
meaning is in the Epic of Gilgamesh. Any women Gilgameshdesired he would take married or not.
Since he was part god and king. He did not care of consequence like the demon.

Brave Test
Title: Brave Test
In the Disney princess movie Brave it opens with a family who are enjoying a day on a picnic.
Later in the movie the viewer finds out that this is not just an ordinary family, but a royal family
over a kingdom. This family includes the king, Fergus, the queen, Eleanor, their daughter, Merida,
and their three sons, Hurbert, Harris, and Hamish. The movie is set in the Scottish Kingdom, and
just like in every kingdom the king is the ruler, but in the viewer s perspective of Brave this does
not seem to be the case. In the movie, the character Elinor steps out of her assigned role of a queen,
developing the epic.

The muffin did change her mother, but not in a way that Merida expected, Elinor was converted
into a bear! When Merida and Elinor realized, it had changed queen Elinor into a bear the two of
them were both frightened, because they knew if Fergus or anyone else saw Elinor she would
be killed. Therefore, Merida attempted to flee the castle, to return to the witch, who could revert
her mother back. However, they were heard by Fergus and he gathered the clans to slaughter, the
thing that he thought took his leg; a bear. As Elinor and Merida dash into the woods, Elinor
begins to see Merida s passion and love for the outdoors. When they arrive at the river, Merida
immediately leaped in, Elinor sits back and watches at first then she notices there is food in the
river. As a result, Elinor takes off her crown and joins Merida in attempt to catch some fish to
eat. As Merida teaches her mom how to catch the fish, and they begin to play in the water, the
viewer can feel and notice the rebuilding of the mother daughter relationship that Elinor and
Merida once had. As soon as they leave the river, Elinor leaves behind her crown, displaying the
passing of the old and the coming of the new. The viewer also saw Elinor s hair had changed
from in two braids to down and flowing, which also shows the deference in Elinor. Elinor stepping
out of her designed role as a queen develops Merida s character and demonstrates the theme of
Merida contesting the tradition of the Anglo Saxon

Skeletal System Vs Muscular System
How you ever thought about how we run, walk, and talk? The organ systems in our bodies are
vital for our body to function. These systems work with each other in order to carry out functions
that we need. You may wonder how these systems made up of? It s like climbing down a ladder.
First, you have an organism or in this case the human and the humans are made up of organ systems
that are made up of organs, tissues, and cells. The skeletal system generates a framework for the
body while the muscular system generally produces movement. The skeletal system and muscular
system are two vital systems that help aid movement and much more.
The skeletal system includes ligaments, cartilage, and bones. Four major organs in the skeletal
system are the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This system consists of both the skeletal and muscular system. They work together in unison to
help our body produce movement, stabilize bones and give the body support, and pump blood
cells. The bones have skeletal muscles that help produce movement. With the joints they act like
fulcrums while the bones and muscles work and act like a lever. Depending on how close or far
away of the load to the joint make the bones and muscles create a mechanical advantage or
disadvantage when lifting an object. The bone that is stationary is the skeletal system. The skeletal
muscles are attached by bones by tendons which help move the body. The tendon is a strong tissue
used to produce movement. It doesn t stretch. Most of the time the tendon fastens a muscle to a
bone. For example, the muscle on the upper part of the arm, is known as the biceps, is pulled
together by a tendon to the bones just below the elbow. When the biceps becomes shorter, the
tendon holds fast and pulls up the lower arm. On the back of the arm is triceps. When the muscle
contracts, it pulls and straightens the arm. This is how a person is able to walk, raise and lower
the head, and much more. The bone marrow produces leukocytes and erythrocytes while the
muscular system pumps it out to the cells in the body. Now the skeletal system and muscular
system gives our body our shape and stability. The muscles in the muscular system like the skeletal
muscles and tendons help the bones in the skeletal system have their for a and shape so they would
not fall and collapse. These are the interactions of both the skeletal and muscular

Essay on Emily Bronte s Wuthering Heights
Wuthering Heights: A Great Romantic Novel
The Romantic Period was a very imaginative and creative period of thinking. The literature
produced during this period reflected this wild and free spirited imagination. The works dismissed
the Enlightenment thinkers in their claims of Reason, progress, and universal truths (Damrosch,
1317). Instead, these writers explored superstitions and had a renewed sense of passion for the wild,
the unfamiliar, the irregular, and the irrational (Damrosch, 1317). Other common elements of the
writing during this period were the returned interest of gothic romance elements, a fascination of
exploring the inner world of the mind and the unconscious into its dark side, an interest in emotional

This is not even the complete list of Romantic elements found within the books borders. To sum up
the elements, one needs to include all of the conflicts found in the novel, both the internal and
external conflicts. These include things like Nature vs. Civilization, the Wild vs. the Tame, the
Deep and Elemental vs. the Superficial and Impermanent, and Natural Impulses vs. Artificial
Restraint (Agatucci, 4).
All of these different elements are combined into this one novel, showing the avant garde genius of
Emily Bronte. She was a very creative innovator full of an incredibly gifted imagination and
otherworldy sense for the supernatural ghosts of the past and the hidden personal demons found
deep in the unconscious mind, which she displays in the character of Heathcliff especially.
Heathcliff starts out in the story as the most outcast of the outcast. He is picked up and adopted
from the streets of Liverpool by the head of the household on one of his journeys to town he takes
every once in a while. He starts out as this ugly and hideous creature who is ridiculed and beaten
by the other kids in the house. He finds one true playmate and friend in the rambunctious Cathy,
who is a free spirit that falls in love with his mysterious character. This relationship becomes
forbidden however when the father dies and the oldest son takes over the household. Heathcliff is
banished from the house eventually,

Advantages Of Ethical Hacking
The Internet is still developing and e commerce is on its advance. More and more computers get
connected to the Internet, wireless devices and networks are booming and sooner or later, nearly
every electronic device may have its own IP address. The complexity of networks is increasing, the
software on devices gets more complicated as well as user friendly.
Therefore, Security is a very popular topic and quite some effort are made in securing services,
systems and networks. On internet, there is a silent war going on between the good and the bad

who are trying to get prohibited access to this information. Securing an information technology

The Key To Successful Relationships
The key to successful relationships is the ability to express one s thoughts, ideas and feelings
clearly, utilizing respectful language and behaviour without undue anxiety at the expense of
others. Assertive communication is the skill to convey messages to patients, families, and other
colleagues in a positive, caring, nonjudgmental, and direct manner that aims to acknowledge the
needs of others and oneself (Balzer Riley, 2012, p. 4). Working as a support worker with the older
adults is definitely a challenge. In my culture, it is emphasized to respect someone who is older
than me; and saying no to an older adult who asks for a favour is a sign of disrespect. For example,
my client would ask me to do extra work that is beyond my job description

Compare and Contrast the Rise and Fall of Mesopotamia and...
In this project I plan on exploring the contrasts and comparisons between the rise of
Mesopotamia and Egypt. I chose this particular question because during my junior year I took
and AP World History class in which we of course studied the worlds history. One on my favorite
things that we studied in that class was ancient Empires. Mr. Herman, my AP teacher during that
time, went through the Mesopotamian and Egyptian Empires rather too quickly for my tastes. I
felt as though there were a lot of things that I missed and would have loved to study. So during
my preparations for the AP exams I wrote a brief essay on comparing and contrasting the rise
and fall of the Egyptian and Mesopotamian Empire. I enjoyed writing this essay and was quite
interested in the topic. Despite the fact this didn t make up much of the exam I later decided
that this would be my capstone topic backup in case I don t like the one I came up with in the
future. And like I predicted I did not like my previous topic and chose to continue this. The
reason I thought to do this for my capstone after my other idea failed was because I found that
people would get a lot more out of this. We go to an arts school and frankly unless something has
to do with the history of our art forms people don t really pay that much attention to history, unless
they plan to become an anthropologist. I found that with this I can educate my classmates on the
history of those who came before us and then apply it to current day

Analysis Of Tennessee Williams A Streetcar Named Desire
Tennessee Williams was born in Columbus, Mississippi in 1911. A Streetcar Named Desire was
set at around his time and it describes the decline of the Southern Belle named Blanche DuBois.
The pathos found in Williams s drama came from the playwright s own life. Alcoholism,
depression, loneliness, desire, as well as insanity all played a huge part throughout William s
lifetime, thus, incorporating these into his own life. Williams portrayed different social groups in
his plays, and how they clash (such as the role of men and women, the urban and southern
lifestyles) to criticize many aspects of society such as social criticism.
Women are shown to be fragile and unable to depend on themselves but require a male. Stella and
Blanche are both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This indicates that both of the characters clash due to the differences in beliefs about the
American dream. Stanley believes that everyone should be equal and should have equal
opportunities to live a proper life. Blanche is trying hard to separate her past and move on with a
new, fresh life. However in the end, she was unable to complete her dreams which could suggest
that the American dream may not exist since Blanche was unable to achieve it. Furthermore,
love is the main desire for Blanche and Mitch was represented as her main desire for love but, he
did not replace her previous love. However, this connotes that she was able to achieve some
aspects of her American dream or her desire by meeting Mitch when she says Yes I want Mitch...
very badly! Just think! If it happens! I can leave here and not be anyone s problem... (Williams,
1959). Blanche is looking for the emotional aspects of a relationship with Mitch rather than seeking
the physical aspects. This was portrayed when Mitch wanted to kiss her but she

In Spite of Women Esquire Magazine and the construction of Male Consumer
Rhetorical Analysis One
During early thirties and forties which was right after the depression, government and corporate felt
the necessity to revive the market. At that time, people thought women were the ones with
dominating consumption powers. As Kenon Breazeale quoted in his article, Women are indeed the
shoppers of the world. (Breazeale, 231). However, some people such as those in journalism
fraternity regarded women s buying power as gullible vulnerability to consumerism s trashy
faddishness (Breazeale, 232). Those people spread wide hostility toward women s taste and argued
that men should be the ones with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Breazeale here showed how Esquire trashed women s taste in food and at the same time implied
that male was much better in enjoying good food.
By quoting several similar examples about home dГ©cor and drink, Breazeale pointed out that all
those articles weren t written in any occasional incidents. By contrast, Esquire was knitting similar
misogynistic threads for years to conceptualize people about the gender related meanings of good
and bad taste. Food such as steaks and fowl, home dГ©cor with clean and functional features and
alcohol were considered as good and related with masculinity. On the other hand, ornamentation,
carrot teensie weenesies and anti alcohol were perceived as bad and femininity. As a summary of
the function of text, Breazeale concluded that all Esquire did were trying to recuperate a female
identified role for men which need arguing against traditional gender related social roles. Yet at the
same time, Esquire conveyed the message that any attempts of changing the traditional modes of
patriarchal rules was not allowed. So it was necessary to emphasize the privilege that male had over
female. This job was accomplished by the other function of the magazine illustrations.
Breazeale argued that by showing erotic spectacles

Great Gatsby Scarlet Letter Essay

AP English
March 22, 2000
The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne and The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald are two
novels, which address similar themes with completely opposite resolves. The authors use their main
characters, Hester, Dimmesdale, Gatsby, and Daisy, in their respective works to present these
themes. The action in both novels revolves around unfaithfulness, its effects on the characters, and
the results of committing adultery, which prove to be antipode from one novel to the other. These
antitheses can be found by a look at the different roles of adultery in the novels. One major theme
found in both novels and addressed in different ways is adultery. Unfaithfulness is ever present in

Hester and Dimmesdale sinned by having sex, Hester was married and Dimmesdale was a
reverend. This act of impurity was turned to a positive with the birth of Pearl, their personal
spiritual growth, and their maturity. On the contrary, the lovethat Daisy and Gatsby had before
their separation was pure. They were in love for all the right reasons, and stayed in touch while Jay
entered the army. However, Daisy then fell in love with money and the man who brought it, Tom.
When Gatsby returned, he tried to make their love work again, but his efforts were made through
deceit, and illegal activities. These attempts to win Daisy through a false persona and money made
Daisy s love a possession, which could be won or even bought, and subsequently it became impure.
These contradictions and paradox continue through the novel into the endings.
The differing attitudes towards unfaithfulness in the novels result in differing conclusions for the
characters. Although Hester and Dimmesdale do not consummate their relationship, their
tribulations are not for naught. Both become better, more understanding, people because of their
experiences. There is also the birth of Pearl to validate their affair. Daisy and Gatsby never end up
together either. However, neither one is the better as a result of them having eloped. Gatsby dies a
horrible death, but this is still

Clash Of Civilizations Analysis
In 1992, at the end of the Cold War, political scientist Francis Fukuyama argued that with Western
Liberal Democracy s victory in the battle of ideologies, there was no more history to be made.
Indeed, in such a monumental moment in human history, it may have been easy for scholars to
believe that the human experience is done developing. Samuel Huntington responded to
Fukuyama in his 1993 essay Clash of Civilizations, arguing that history is far from over. Rather,
world politics is simply entering a new phase, in which global conflict is centered on
civilizational lines, rather than ideological or political lines. When we look back on his essay, we
see that his hypothesis has manifested in several key events in world politics regarding our case
studies and current events around the world.
Huntington credited the Cold Warwith bringing global stability. Because the world was split into
Capitalist and Communist, countries of different cultures and background united under one cause:
defeat the other side. In addition, the concept of Mutually assured destruction protected us from the
prospect of destructive, nuclear war between countries on the Capitalist side and countries on the
Communist side. However, after the Cold War ended, people needed to find new lines to identify
themselves with: cultural lines. In Clash of Civilizations, Huntington outlines 3 ways in which
civilizations will clash: core state conflicts, fault line conflicts, and The West Versus the Rest.

Before installing the VPN services, however, a number of things must be taken into
consideration. By evaluating who is using the VPN, the hardware necessary to make good
connections, the pros and cons of differing connection protocols, and evaluating past security
problems, setting up the VPN services becomes a much smoother process. VPN s and Firewalls
Anyone who will be accessing the VPN services should have a firewall in place.Once a VPN
connection is established, the client is essentially able to access information behind the
company s firewall, thus creating an access hole. Therefore, insisting a client use and maintain a
firewall is another layer in the security of the VPN setup. The ease of changing the firewall rules
to allow VPN connections should be addressed. Very old firewalls, either appliance types or
software types, may be difficult or impossible to configure to allow VPN access.A small business
may stay with an old firewall for many reasons, one of which might be the fact that there has been
no reason to upgrade in the past. It would be prudent to check the firewall documentation before
becoming enmeshed in the VPN process, only to have it fail for lack of access, or creating a setup
that might be considered insecure. User Considerations When setting up the VPN server(s) at the
main office, who is using the connection and how much access to the internal network,

Different Forms Of Literature Display Multiple Scenarios
Have you ever considered the different ways one s family makes an influence on how
individuals view themselves? Many different forms of literature display multiple scenarios where
the parents or sibling s perception of the world altar their own judgments of life or possibly even
oneself. Think for a moment, from childhood the person or persons that you are the most familiar
with most likely are the very people that you interact with on a daily basis. Most of the time, it
would be your familyor siblings that reside with you in your household. For example, a male who
has continuously watched his father abuse his mother may one day become physically aggressive
with his future companion or might even want to make sure he never puts his hands on any woman
based on how it affects his mother. The way a person grows up and the influences that individual
encounters can completely change the character of just about any human. Judgment from the ones
who you consider family occasionally alters more than just an injured self esteem but overall the
perception they have for themselves.
When the The Rich Brother begins, the author, Tobias Wolff

way they viewed life. The fact that their parents were both deceased could have carried a toll on

was if the pH level affects the corrosion rate, then the lower the pH level is quicker the corrosion
rate would be. This will happen because liquids below the pH level of 7 possess stronger acidic
attributes. The effect of pHlevel on corrosion rate was determined by depositing a copper penny in

Corrosion and oxidation both are destructive and are a threat to certain elements; metal. Corrosion
is the attack on an element triggered by a reaction with the environment. It occurs when oxygen and
water infiltrate a metal and a brand new layer forms. Corrosion can cause hazards, buildings can be
shut down, due to their metal foundation unable to withstand itself after the effects of corrosion;
torn down and disembodied fragments. Oxidation occurs only in metal, frequently in iron, due to its
molecular structure prone to be torn down by oxidation. Corrosion as stated above occurs when an
element like iron, combines with water and oxygen. When these elements and compounds integrate,
rust takes an appearance; reddish brown forms on the surface of the element. Just like corrosion,
oxidation can cause hazards. Since iron is majorly distributed into many architectural projects, and
the factor that oxidation can occur unexpectedly, protection must be prioritized. Corrosion can be
prevented by restraining metal from coming in contact with water. Coating exposed metal with
water proof paint can be a low effort maneuver to prevent oxidation destruction. Locating the
symptoms of oxidation is crucial for maintaining it in state you have the potential to keep under
sovereignty. Substituting vulnerable metals to material that can withstand oxidation is
noncompulsory. Pay attention to the environmental aspects, is it warm or cold, is it humid?

Assignment 3: Legal and Ethical Considerations in Marketing, Product Safety, and Intellectual
Property
Strayer University
LEG 500: Law, Ethics Corp. Governance
Prepared for: Dr. Ellen Kapalko
03/16/2014
Research three to five (3 5) ethical issues relating to marketing and advertising, intellectual property,
and regulation of product safety.
Marketing and Advertising
Every aspect of the marketing and advertising mix is subject to laws and restrictions. Every
marketing manager will be confronted with how they must address ethics and law. Each marketing
executive knows that rarely are there cut and dry answers to ethical issues that will arise during the
normal course of business. (Lamb, McDaniel, Hair, 2010). One ... Show more content on

The most annoying part of the ads is that the DTC advertising often features celebrity spokespeople,
computer generated characters, or actors portraying happy and satisfied patients. The FDA requires
prescription drug makers to provide risk information in any promotion that qualifies as a product
claim advertisement. (Keeping Watch Over Direct to Consumer Ads, 2013).
Determine who regulates compounding pharmacies under the current regulatory scheme, what the
Food and Drug Administration (FDA) could / should have done in this scenario, and whether the
FDA should be granted more power over compounding pharmacies
The FDA and Compounding pharmacies
Who regulates compounding pharmacies under the current regulatory scheme?
The first element that we must address is what is compounding. Compounding is a practice in
which a licensed pharmacist, a licensed physician, or, in the case of an outsourcing facility, a
person under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, combines, mixes, or alters ingredients of a
drug to create a medication tailored to the needs of an individual patient. Compounded drugs are
not FDA approved. This means that FDA does not verify the safety, or effectiveness of
compounded drugs. Consumers and health professionals rely on the drug approval process to
ensure that drugs are safe and effective and made in accordance with Federal quality standards. (The
Food and Drug Administration) What could / should

Examples Of Noble In Julius Caesar
Brutus, the Noblest Roman of them All
By definition, noble is having moral character, courage, generosity, honor and bravery to do what
is right. It is finding the truth and reason in everything that happens around you. Many of the
characters in Julius Caesar have a selfish goal to gain more power and wealth. For instance, Julius
Caesar was a great general, but he only cared about ruling Rome. Cassius was a smart and wise
man, but he wanted Caesar s death out of envy and jealousy. Many of the senators, who were
involved in Caesar`s assassination, hated watching him take over Rome, and many Romans thought
of him as their rival. Except for one noble senator named Brutus, who was different from the other
senators and fought only for Rome ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Brutus took part in Caesar s death for Rome, while the other senators did it out of envy and fear
that Caesar would become too powerful. Many of the senators hated Caesar, but Brutus admits
how he loved Caesar and how it was hard for him to kill him. In history, during the time of
segregation, Martin Luther King, Jr. had to face prejudice, injustice, and hate so he could fight
for civil rights. Just like how Brutus faces his fellow Romans, their criticism and Antony and
Octavius` attempts at killing him, so he could save democracy. Both Martin Luther King, Jr.
and Brutus were ready to do what it took to make a change and take risks to reach their goals.
Martin Luther King, Jr. dreamed of equality and he took the risk to make the I Have a Dream
speech even though it put his life on the line. Brutus stabs Caesar and keeps his life on the line to
make a difference in the Roman government and faces tough consequences. In his speech after
Caesar s death, he tells his fellow Romans: I have / the same dagger for myself when it shall
please my country to need my death (iii. ii.45 46). Brutus explains that he would keep the same
dagger he used to kill Caesar when he fails to bring change to Rome and do whatever it takes to
please his country, even if it involves his own death. Brutus speech shows his full commitment to
doing the right thing for Rome and his willingness to risk his life if he fails. Brutus takes on risks

Who Is Justinian Recreate The Byzantine Empire
The Byzantine Empire, or the eastern Roman Empire, was formed in the year 330 after Roman
Emperor Constantine I moved the seat of the Roman government to the city of Constantinople. It
was designated a second Rome, and had the advantage of being located on an Asian Eurpoean trade
route and on the Bosporus Strait, which made it incredibly hard to sack or besiege, since water
surrounded half of the city. Constantinoplewas also free from any corruption and political
assassination, which made governing easier to do and to manage as well. When the western Roman
Empirecollapsed in the year 476, the eastern half remained intact, and it remained relatively stable
until Emperor Justinian came to power. Emperor Justinian was Emperor of the Byzantine Empirein
the mid sixth century, from 527 to 565, and headed his empire s notable renovatio imperii, or
restoration of the Empire during that time. Justinian devoted his reign to reclaim the lost western
half of the Roman Empire, and recreate it through military conquest and social reform. The
military conquest was to expand the Byzantine Empire so it reached the farthest extent of the
Roman Empire, which was around the early second century, while the social reform was to
recreate the Roman law that once applied during the height of the Roman Empire. So, these
questions must be posed: How did Emperor Justinian attempt to reform and recreate the Roman
Empire, and what did he do to restore it? Were his legislative and social reforms

Characteristics Of A Transformational Leader
The type of leader I believe I am now is Management my Exception: Active. I have a tendency to
force my subordinates to follow rules and stick closely to AFI s, OI s, or regulations. I like when
things are done properly and effectively and sometimes tend to believe there is only one way to do
a task. Due to this mentality, I usually give very detailed instructions on what I wantaccomplished
rather than letting my subordinates figure out some things on their own. During NCOA, I
discovered what type of leader I want to be using the concepts listed below.
In Module 3, I learned what a Transformational Leader is and why this is the leadership style to
strive for. A Transformational Leader molds their subordinates and allows them to grow within
themselves. Subordinates and peers enjoy working with and for this type of leader, which
improves the work center and relationships. This type of leadership style leaves a positive
experience on others and encourages them to imitate this positive behavior.
In Module 5, I learned the Three Elements of Adaptability: Cognitive Development, Emotional
Development and Dispositional Development. Dispositional Development is the most difficult to
conquer because it requires the acceptance of change in a positive manner. Accepting change
positively pushes others to do the same and increases motivation and production in the work center.
In Module 6, I learned the true definition of Followership and why it is necessary. Being unable

Engineering has been an essential part of society since man created the wheel. Even from the days
in ancient Egypt when the pharaohs built the pyramids they used their own form of engineering.
Engineers were always a very prestigious occupation. It was roman engineers who allowed the city
of Rome to be built from the palaces to the aqueducts. After the roman engineers built the aqueducts
then engineering evolved to a more renaissance approach including building castles and moats.
Kings and queens would use engineers for personal statues of themselves or for improvements on
their castles. The foundation of engineering completely changed when Isaac newton invented
calculus and put a formula to gravity. A couple hundred years later, many engineers focused on
improving machinery in the industrial revolution, along with many improvements in the medical
field. Lately some of the more popular feats of engineers include large skyscrapers being built
across the world, and one of the best inventions of all which is the computer. Computer scientist and
electrical engineers have been at the forefront of our most recent technological advancement and
will continue to push our technological boundaries to the limits.

Normal Aging
What?
Description:
Normal aging brings about inevitable and irreversible changes. These normal aging changes are
partially responsible for the increased risk of developing health related problems within the elderly
population. I associated being old with decline, disability, disease and death. However, reflecting on
realities of ageing and my grandfather s health, I realized that ageing does not imply only declining
health, but it is also associated with wellness. My grandfather is 88 years old. I had always been
lucky to have my grandparents healthy. However, this changed about 10 years ago when my
grandfather had a heart problem and had to get coronary angioplasty, which caused him to require
extra care from my grandmother and family.
Response:

How people view and perceive the aging process varies greatly from culture to culture. However,
in my opinion, it is important to understand that the older adults are much more capable than
everybody else because they have so much more knowledge and experience. Maybe they aren t
more capable physically, but in many other ways they really exceed everyone else s capability.
They all have different personalities, needs, health issues and age related changes. According to

Similar to the majority of living organisms, bacteria are able to adapt and change depending on
their environment. Contrary to other larger living organisms such as humans, bacteria are able to
transform and multiply at a more rapid pace, allowing these microorganisms to evolve and become
resistant to medications that are commonly used to treat them such as antibiotics. These altered
bacteriaare oftentimes referred to as super bugs as they are unaffected by typical treatments

The Shepherrd Center, a rehabilitation center in Atlanta, Georgia, takes into consideration that by
nature, rehabilitation as it relates to physical therapy requires a lot of physical contact (Testing for

of cross contamination and the passing infections either by direct or indirect contact are at an all

Advantage And Disadvantages Of Cardanol
INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES
Recently developed wide range of innovative monomers and prepolymers starting from cardanol, a
renewable and low cost industrial grade oil obtained by vacuum distillation of Cashew nut shell
liquid (CNSL), extracted from the Cashew nuts. CNSL is a byproduct of the cashew industry. The
nut has a shell of about 3.2 mm thickness inside which is a soft honeycomb structure containing a
dark reddish brown viscous liquid. It is called the CNSL, which is the pericarp fluid of the cashew
nut.
In the search for the cost effective modern materials, CNSL and its products have a significant role
to play. Being renewable, it offers much advantage over synthetics. Recent research has shown that

Dynamic mechanical analysis showed that increasing fiber content provides an improvement in
the rigidity of the composites. Cardanol modified resol reinforced nanoclay composite was
prepared and mechanical properties of the final composites were improved by doping a 6 wt% of

Russian Revolution After World War I Essay
For many revolutions people may argue different reasons why that particular revolution was caused,
but there often one that is the primary cause. The Russian Revolution began February 1917, many
people in Russia lost faith in their government, especially since they had not done so well to begin
with when they participated in World War I. Which resulted in a lot of expenses. Others may argue
that since Tsar was an unproductive leader and because of the decisions he made when he was in
power that influenced the Russian Revolution. Although Tsar s weak leadership may have

Russia struggled to provide food for its populations. Citizens took control into their own hands,
Ludovic Naudeau wrote in October 1917, One morning recently I was awakened by the cries of
my neighbor in the next room. His boots had been stolen. The same day the manager of a
newspaper office told me that he had been robbed six of pairs of pantaloons, ... Four hundred
thefts every night! he cried; that is the average for the last two weeks, (One Aspect of Bolshevist
Liberty). Russia could not even uphold itself because the economy was not successful compared
to other countries. This led people to desire a change in the government; therefore this led to the
Russian Revolution. People went to different maters to get what they wanted such as stealing
since they were not getting the aid that they needed and they needed financial support. This
caused them to protest against their government because many people from the lower class
could not take care of their families. This cause led to a greater impact compared to Tsarist weak
authority. Some may argue Tsar Nicholas weak leadership help contributes to the Russian
Revolution but World War I was be the primary cause. Tsar Nicholas was not the best leader but
that did not have a big enough impact to cause the Russia Revolution because his actions did not
lead to as many problems that World War I had caused. World War I had a greater impact because
it led to many problems within Russia that caused the citizens to be furious.

If You Can Not Preach Like Paul
This hermeneutical journey report will highlight the Swing method provided by Nancy Lamers
Grossman in her book, If You Cannot Preach Like Paul. This particular sermon writing process
focuses on the scripture text John1:1 18, and it will be written and preached in a style that reflects
Anna Carter Florence s Testimonial Methodology.
Choosing the Text:
This particular sermon is being prepared for an evening vesper service on the first Sunday of
Advent. This will be the third service of the day for this particular congregation, and it will follow
the morning services, which will have been guided by the lectionary text for that day. For this
particular service, candle light, and light in general, is a main theme. The congregation will sit
within the sanctuary, and the only light will be from the candle light and Advent decoration. Also,
this service is to help congregation members prepare their hearts for the Advent season in its
entirety. It is a service that marks the beginning of an important journey. I chose the passage
John1:1 18 in an attempt to meet the two main needs that this service requires, light imagery and
preparation for the coming of Jesus. The light is significant in this text because the author refers to
Jesus being the light for the world that sits in darkness, which seemed to me to be a great place to
start for this particular service. Additionally, this passage is the gospel text for this upcoming
Christmas Daily Text reading. I felt that if this is to

Excessive Amount Of Asphaltene Deposition Essay
An excessive amount of asphaltene deposition may result in a severe formation damage and
sometimes blocking the flow path as seen in Figure 6c. Therefore, the injected solvent cannot
further diffuse deep into the matrix (due severe to asphaltene deposition) and eventually causes
injectivity problem. In this study, C5 injection resulted in the high amount of asphaltene deposition
in porous media (11.4 % per Figure 7) and it could block the main flow path, the fracture (as seen in
Figure 6c). The pressure profiles of C5 injection shown in Figure 8 can also explain the formation
damage caused by severe asphaltene deposition. At early time stage of solvent injection, solvent
mainly diffuses into the oil within the fracture path (while diffusing into the matrix as well) and
recovered most of the oil in this area (up to 80 minutes in Figure 8). Thereafter, the solvent is
occupied the whole fracture and due to the concentration gradient between the solvent and matrix s
oil, the solvent diffused into the matrix, dilute the oil by precipitation and deposition of asphaltene.
Continuing solvent injection resulted in more asphaltene deposition in the matrix and especially
fracture matrix interface (where the highest concentration gradient is) that eventually cause the
formation damage and reduce the injectivity. This can be seen in Figure 7 from time 90 minutes to
280 minutes where the injection pressure increased until the time that was no injection at all (after
about 280 minutes).

that both vehicles are going the same speed, the small vehicle will take less stopping distance
compared to a large vehicle.
A driver can best prepare entering sharp curves in the roadway by gradually decelerating to a
safe speed before entering the curve. If you enter a curve with high speed or brake suddenly, you
risk the chance of losing control of your vehicle. If you find yourself entering a sharp curve too
fast, brake gently. Bicyclists and motorcyclists have to lean toward the inside to keep balance when
rounding a curve. In a manual transmission vehicle, shift to a lower gear.
The fatality of a car crash depends on a certain number of things. First, is the driver and/or
passengers wearing seatbelts? Someone who is wearing a seatbelt is more likely to make it out
alive with a few minor injuries than someone who isn t. Second, the force of impact between two
objects. The faster you drive, the greater the striking power of your vehicle, the worse the damage
in a collision. Third, the mass of the vehicle. The vehicle with the less mass will take the greater
impact. Larger vehicles have more energy and momentum than smaller

Isopod Prioritization
The data generated in this experiment is insufficient to reject the null hypothesis. As a result, we
cannot ascertain a statistically significant trend involving isopod prioritization between foraging
behaviors and predator avoidance mechanisms in environments with elevated levels of predation
risk. Even though the experiment produced statistically insignificant data, an interesting biological
trend emerged during the final sampling intervals of the experiment. As the experiment progressed,
an increased number of isopods in both treatments started to cross the mesocosms to forage for
particulate organic matter. This observation clearly exemplified the prioritization of foraging over
predation risk. While this observation was important to note, there is a larger biological
underpinning present in the connection and comparison between the experimental and the control
treatments. In... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, using a larger sample will increase the probability of getting statically significant results that
are essential to draw insightful conclusions. Adding experimental treatments that include dead
conspecifics will not only be instrumental in investigating the precedence of different chemical cues
in isopods predator avoidance, but also in ascertaining additional factors that determine the extent
to which isopods maintain a balance between foraging and predator avoidance. Moreover, reducing
the food availability to both the crayfish and isopods before conducting the experiment will elevate
both the chemical cue for the presence of a hungry predator and the isopods intrinsic need to forage.
All in all, future research that incorporates the above recommendations will minimize sampling
error, increase the probability of obtaining statistically significant results, and shed light on new
evidence about the precedence of various chemical cues and intrinsic cues in isopods decision
making

The Meaning Of Gay And Homosexuality
Our world changes day by day. Humans grow, evolve, and adjust to the modern world. As our
world advances, our language and terminology progresses along with it. A word that has changed
completely in definition is gay , it has two completely different meanings. Today gay means, of,
relating to, or exhibiting sexual desire or behavior directed toward a person or persons of one s own
sex; homosexual (The Definition of Gay). and in the 12th century gay meant happy or carefree
(How Gay) How did the definition of this word change so greatly over the years?
Gay came about in the 12th century, with the meaning of carefree , joyful , or bright and showy
(How Gay). The word is first recorded in English c.1325, with the meaning of beautiful, in a
poem titled Blow, Northerne Wind, which appears in the manuscript British Library MS Harley
2253. The English word comes from the French gai, but where this French word comes from is
uncertain (Word Origins.org.). The first meaning of gay was once meant to have a meaning of
happiness. People woke up hoping to have a gay day.
By the 17th century gay started to change from meaning bright and showy to mean immorality .
By the mid 17th century, according to an Oxford dictionary definition at the time, the meaning of
the word had changed to mean addicted to pleasures and dissipations. Often euphemistically: Of
loose and immoral life (How Gay). In the span of five hundred years this word began to greatly

Advantages Of Waterfall Methodology
Christine McKay
CMGT410
October 23, 2017
Week 5 Final The waterfall methodology is one of the most prominently recognized and most
utilized methods in project management. Whether you re using the waterfall methodology to
manage a project or in some other fashion, let s say for example, in software development, it
works the same in producing a product in a sequential manner and design, and in a series of stages
that follow each other one after another. This means, once a person completes one step they move
onto the next step and not before. As this process is sequential, once a step has been completed, the
person cannot go back to a previous step not without scratching the whole project and starting from
the beginning. There s no room for change or error, so a project outcome and an extensive plan
must be set in the beginning and then followed carefully. The Agile project managementapproach,
also referenced by the Agile ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The disadvantages of the waterfall methodology we re, in essence, resolved by implementing an
incremental approach, with the introduction of the Agile methodology approach. The Agile
approach introduced a much more simplistic design that included modules broken down into
prioritized sprints . These sprints were recognized as a benefit to many project management teams
as they allowed project managers the ability to perform enhanced evaluations on a much more
frequent basis. This also provides increased opportunities for the discovery of bugs and customer
feedback as completed phases are rolled out. One of the biggest disadvantages to the utilizing the
Agile methodology is not having a clear and concise project deadline, the projects end result and
budgetary confinements can vary greatly and the end result can be grossly different than what the
original scoping plan had planned intended it to

Power In The Handmaid s Tale
The good want power, but to weep barren tears. Powerful goodness wants worse need for them.
Wise want love; those who love to want wisdom; And all best things are thus confused to ill.
Shelly claims about the desire for power over one s self or others is always a dominant factor in
the structure of any society. She illustrates the complexities of powerand note the resulting
confusion of good and ill when one facet of that complexity takes precedence. She also represent the
connection between individual and social control themes which captivates the playwrights and
novelists since earliest times. The twentieth century writer is no passing over. Glen Deer suggests
that the innovative technique of the experimental novelist enhances the reader s ability to gain
insight into the social bonds between people of unequal power. (Deer 2). Among the works, Deer
chooses to support his thesis by claiming that the writer s technique is an mechanism in explaining

Pros And Cons Of Deductions
Last but not the least, although В§179 immediate expensing and bonus depreciation appear to be
beneficial to Patriot, those favorable tax treatments can change in future years depending on the
Congress. Chances are high that В§179 deduction will be limited to a smaller amount and bonus
depreciation will be excluded for future years. Therefore it is rather crucial for Patriot to change
existing accounting method to maximize deductions and to avoid any risks of potentially getting
examined by the IRS. To begin with, Patriot should develop a formal written accounting manual
covering the treatment for acquiring tangible properties before January 1, 2015 so Patriot can
utilize the safe harbor rule for 2015 if needed. Second of all, the company should

Families in 1700 s to Mid 1800 s
Origins of a family have meaning and history. By keeping track of family relations also known as a
family tree it can allow us to keep records of the past. The Edwards family tree shows great
record from the early 1700 s to the mid 1800 s. This family tree demonstrates when a person was
baptized; when they got married; and when they passed away. The Edwards familychart show the
different relations of marriages and fertility rate from today s society. From the chart we can
determine that the Edwards family show a different demography compared to todays society. This
is because life expectancy was shorter; families were larger; and finally marriages were happening
at a young age. According to the Edwards family tree life expectancy was... Show more content on

Looking at the chart it is hard to tell when some of the women were born because it was not
recorded. However looking at the Edwards family tree many of the women got married in their
20 s. Some of these women were pregnant while getting married. On the another hand the men
got married in their mid to late twenties which is a lot older compare to the women. For example
Thomas Edward son of Thomas and Sarah Potman got married to Sarah White at the age of thirty
four. As we can see there is a big age difference between the male and females. From the Edwards
family tree most of the women had children right away. Some were even pregnant at marriage, for
example Richard Edward who married Mary Deets in 1730 and at the same year had their first
child Sarah Ewards. This shows some couples were involved with each other before marriage,
however on the family tree some couples waited a year or two to have children. For example
John Edward who married Elizabeth Ward in 1739 their first kid John Edwards was born 1742,
that is three years after they got married. From the family tree it seemed uncommon for a
married couple to wait a year or two years later to have children; which is really different
compare to today because many marry couples wait at least three years to have children. Since
Many families did have plenty of children and gave birth right after marriage it seemed that child
birth was not planned. Looking at the chart many married couples had

A Career In Physical Therapy
Honors anatomy and physiology medical career reflection paper
By: Tiarra sorey For the medical career project I decided to do physical therapy, physical therapy is
the restoration of movement and physical function impaired or threatened by disease, injury, or
disability. Physical therapists determine a plan for rehabilitation for patients which may include
stretching, strength training, exercises and physical manipulation. There has been a significant
increase in the demand for physical therapists, the employment of physical therapists is projected to
grow 34% between 2014 and 2024. Physical therapy is a very excellent career and has become more
intriguing to me during this project and helped me confirm what I want to do in the future even

Completing this project influenced my aspiration to become a physical therapist because it
showed me how perfect this career would be for me, it showed me that being a physical therapist
wouldn t even feel like work because I would enjoy the daily tasks and challenges such as giving
motivation to patients and making them feel stronger and more confident in themselves. During
the research of the project I read articles on other physical therapists such as Timothy
DiFrancesco, former PT for the Los angeles lakers and also Emily Beyer, the team PT for the
Minnesota Lynx, they kept saying how challenging it can be on a daily basis, whether it was
trying to get athletes to work up to their limit or just simply trying to get the patients to trust them.
Reading those articles made me tell myself that being a physical therapist was clearly challenging
which is what I like, I believe that because physical therapy can be such a complex job it really
influenced me to pursue a career in that

Roseville Incident Summary
Earlier this week, on Memorial Day, police officers in Roseville, California arrested a gang of
seven men for allegedly touching several young girls inappropriately at a local waterpark.
Curiously, though, the various media outlets that have reported on the incident have all effectively
covered up what sort of people would target 14 year old girls in a group and then abuse them like
they did by leaving out some key information about the suspects backgrounds.
Specifically, law enforcement officials with the Roseville PoliceDepartment recently took seven
men into custody and charged them with committing lewd and lascivious acts with children under
the age of 14 and conspiracy to commit a crime for reportedly touching several young girls ... Show

These guys were I think they were acting up because they were getting saved in all the pools. I
don t know if they could swim they acted like they couldn t swim, Rodgers explained.
So far, however, the police department, the waterpark, and all of the various media outlets covering
the incident have refused to release any information about the suspects backgrounds, like whether or
not the gang of men migrated here from another country, and if so, whether or not they came here
legally, that has been released to the public.
Despite this, based on their conduct and the other information available, it s highly likely that they
migrated either legally or illegally to the United States from another country. Although this hasn t
been confirmed, it s highly likely because similar instances of gangs sexually abusing young girls
has been seen in Europe and most of the perpetrators of the abuse are believed to be migrants.
Sadly, it s quite common for young children to be sexually abused by

Hunger Game Censorship
In Canada, as in other democratic societies, people enjoy freedom of expression and many are
against the practice of censorship. Despite the fact that there is often quite a lot of controversy
when a book is banned or challenged for various reasons, one thing is clear that censorship is
necessary, even if we don t like it. As a matter of fact, controversy around censorshipmore often
arises in a grey area, where arguments can be made and are made either to support or refute
banning a certain book. The Hunger Game, a fiction by Suzanne Collins, is a case that has
aroused a lot of controversy among the public. Its movie adaptation has a (censorship) rating of
PG 13, which could also be taken as an acceptable approach toward the book.

The Effect Of Temperature, Hormones And Blocking Agents On...
This lab was performed to examine the function of the heart in frogs and observe the effects of
temperature, hormones and blocking agents on autonomic control. It was found that when the heart
was bathed with cold saline, the mean amplitude of heart contraction decreased by 35%, and the
mean heart rate decreased by 34% when compared to the amplitude and heart rate with warm saline.
When varying concentrations of acetylcholinewere put on the heart, there was very little change in
the amplitude of heart contraction. Similarly, there was very little change in heart rate when
using concentrations of 10 8 to 10 5 M of acetylcholine, but heart rate dropped 20% from 10 5 to
10 4. When d tubocurarine was used as a blocking agent, heart rate increased 31%. Similar results
were found when using adrenaline on the heart. There was very little change in amplitude of heart
contraction, but there was a 15% increase in heart rate from 10 5M to 10 4M, with little
fluctuations between 10 8M and 10 5M. When propranolol was applied, mean heart rate decreased
by 11%.
Introduction
The autonomic nervous system has a large influence on the function of circulatory system, and has
two separate branches: the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) and the parasympathetic nervous
system (PSNS) (anatomy). Each division releases specific neurotransmitters that trigger different
effects on organs such as the heart. The SNS releases adrenaline, leading to an increase in heart rate
and cardiac output,

These systems work with each other in order to carry out functions that we need. You may wonder how these systems made up of? It s like climbing down a ladder. First, you have an organism or in this case the human and the humans are made up of organ systems that are made up of organs, tissues, and cells. They work together in unison to help our body produce movement, stabilize bones and give the body support, and pump blood cells. The bones have skeletal muscles that help produce movement. With the joints they act like fulcrums while the bones and muscles work and act like a lever. Depending on how close or far away of the load to the joint make the bones and muscles create a mechanical advantage or disadvantage when lifting an object. The bone that is stationary is the skeletal system. The skeletal muscles are attached by bones by tendons which help move the body. The tendon is a strong tissue used to produce movement. It doesn t stretch. Most of the time the tendon fastens a muscle to a bone. For example, the muscle on the upper part of the arm, is known as the biceps, is pulled together by a tendon to the bones just below the elbow. When the biceps becomes shorter, the tendon holds fast and pulls up the lower arm. On the back of the arm is triceps. When the muscle contracts, it pulls and straightens the arm. This is how a person is able to walk, raise and lower the head, and much more. The bone marrow produces leukocytes and erythrocytes while the muscular system pumps it out to the cells in the body. Now the skeletal system and muscular system gives our body our shape and stability. The muscles in the muscular system like the skeletal muscles and tendons help the bones in the skeletal system have their for a and shape so they would not fall and collapse. • 7. Essay on Emily Bronte s Wuthering Heights Wuthering Heights: A Great Romantic Novel The Romantic Period was a very imaginative and creative period of thinking. The literature produced during this period reflected this wild and free spirited imagination. The works dismissed the Enlightenment thinkers in their claims of Reason, progress, and universal truths (Damrosch, 1317). Instead, these writers explored superstitions and had a renewed sense of passion for the wild, the unfamiliar, the irregular, and the irrational (Damrosch, 1317). She was a very creative innovator full of an incredibly gifted imagination and otherworldy sense for the supernatural ghosts of the past and the hidden personal demons found deep in the unconscious mind, which she displays in the character of Heathcliff especially. • 10. Compare and Contrast the Rise and Fall of Mesopotamia and... In this project I plan on exploring the contrasts and comparisons between the rise of Mesopotamia and Egypt. I chose this particular question because during my junior year I took and AP World History class in which we of course studied the worlds history. One on my favorite things that we studied in that class was ancient Empires. Mr. Herman, my AP teacher during that time, went through the Mesopotamian and Egyptian Empires rather too quickly for my tastes. I felt as though there were a lot of things that I missed and would have loved to study. So during my preparations for the AP exams I wrote a brief essay on comparing and contrasting the rise and fall of the Egyptian and Mesopotamian Empire. I enjoyed writing this essay and was quite interested in the topic. Despite the fact this didn t make up much of the exam I later decided that this would be my capstone topic backup in case I don t like the one I came up with in the future. And like I predicted I did not like my previous topic and chose to continue this. The reason I thought to do this for my capstone after my other idea failed was because I found that people would get a lot more out of this. We go to an arts school and frankly unless something has to do with the history of our art forms people don t really pay that much attention to history, unless they plan to become an anthropologist. At that time, people thought women were the ones with dominating consumption powers. As Kenon Breazeale quoted in his article, Women are indeed the shoppers of the world. (Breazeale, 231). By contrast, Esquire was knitting similar misogynistic threads for years to conceptualize people about the gender related meanings of good and bad taste. Food such as steaks and fowl, home dГ©cor with clean and functional features and alcohol were considered as good and related with masculinity. On the other hand, ornamentation, carrot teensie weenesies and anti alcohol were perceived as bad and femininity. As a summary of the function of text, Breazeale concluded that all Esquire did were trying to recuperate a female identified role for men which need arguing against traditional gender related social roles. Yet at the same time, Esquire conveyed the message that any attempts of changing the traditional modes of patriarchal rules was not allowed. So it was necessary to emphasize the privilege that male had over female. This job was accomplished by the other function of the magazine illustrations. The authors use their main characters, Hester, Dimmesdale, Gatsby, and Daisy, in their respective works to present these themes. The action in both novels revolves around unfaithfulness, its effects on the characters, and the results of committing adultery, which prove to be antipode from one novel to the other. However, Daisy then fell in love with money and the man who brought it, Tom. When Gatsby returned, he tried to make their love work again, but his efforts were made through deceit, and illegal activities. These attempts to win Daisy through a false persona and money made Daisy s love a possession, which could be won or even bought, and subsequently it became impure. Clash Of Civilizations Analysis In 1992, at the end of the Cold War, political scientist Francis Fukuyama argued that with Western Liberal Democracy s victory in the battle of ideologies, there was no more history to be made. Indeed, in such a monumental moment in human history, it may have been easy for scholars to believe that the human experience is done developing. Samuel Huntington responded to Fukuyama in his 1993 essay Clash of Civilizations, arguing that history is far from over. Rather, world politics is simply entering a new phase, in which global conflict is centered on civilizational lines, rather than ideological or political lines. When we look back on his essay, we see that his hypothesis has manifested in several key events in world politics regarding our case studies and current events around the world. Huntington credited the Cold Warwith bringing global stability. Because the world was split into Capitalist and Communist, countries of different cultures and background united under one cause: defeat the other side. In addition, the concept of Mutually assured destruction protected us from the prospect of destructive, nuclear war between countries on the Capitalist side and countries on the Communist side. However, after the Cold War ended, people needed to find new lines to identify themselves with: cultural lines. Think for a moment, from childhood the person or persons that you are the most familiar with most likely are the very people that you interact with on a daily basis. Most of the time, it would be your familyor siblings that reside with you in your household. For example, a male who has continuously watched his father abuse his mother may one day become physically aggressive with his future companion or might even want to make sure he never puts his hands on any woman based on how it affects his mother. The way a person grows up and the influences that individual encounters can completely change the character of just about any human. Judgment from the ones who you consider family occasionally alters more than just an injured self esteem but overall the perception they have for themselves. When the The Rich Brother begins, the author, Tobias Wolff , provides information on how the two brothers Pete and Donald were complete opposites when it came to their personalities and the way they viewed life. The fact that their parents were both deceased could have carried a toll on Donald, the brother who was obsessed with purifying everyone s soul, which could possibly be the reason why he took ... The hypothesis was if the pH level affects the corrosion rate, then the lower the pH level is quicker the corrosion rate would be. This will happen because liquids below the pH level of 7 possess stronger acidic attributes. The effect of pHlevel on corrosion rate was determined by depositing a copper penny in each of three plastic cups, and then three different liquids by their pH levels, were assigned to be displaced into each cup formulating a chemical reaction to be observed. The results collected during this investigation contradicted with the intended result, this experiment was conducted to determine corrosion rate; Dana Puti Vingear (pH level: 4.5)... Corrosion is the attack on an element triggered by a reaction with the environment. It occurs when oxygen and water infiltrate a metal and a brand new layer forms. Corrosion can cause hazards, buildings can be shut down, due to their metal foundation unable to withstand itself after the effects of corrosion; torn down and disembodied fragments. Oxidation occurs only in metal, frequently in iron, due to its molecular structure prone to be torn down by oxidation. Corrosion as stated above occurs when an element like iron, combines with water and oxygen. When these elements and compounds integrate, rust takes an appearance; reddish brown forms on the surface of the element. Just like corrosion, oxidation can cause hazards. Since iron is majorly distributed into many architectural projects, and the factor that oxidation can occur unexpectedly, protection must be prioritized. Corrosion can be prevented by restraining metal from coming in contact with water. Coating exposed metal with water proof paint can be a low effort maneuver to prevent oxidation destruction. Locating the symptoms of oxidation is crucial for maintaining it in state you have the potential to keep under sovereignty. Substituting vulnerable metals to material that can withstand oxidation is noncompulsory. Pay attention to the environmental aspects, is it warm or cold, is it humid? ... • 24. Who Is Justinian Recreate The Byzantine Empire The Byzantine Empire, or the eastern Roman Empire, was formed in the year 330 after Roman Emperor Constantine I moved the seat of the Roman government to the city of Constantinople. It was designated a second Rome, and had the advantage of being located on an Asian Eurpoean trade route and on the Bosporus Strait, which made it incredibly hard to sack or besiege, since water surrounded half of the city. Constantinoplewas also free from any corruption and political assassination, which made governing easier to do and to manage as well. When the western Roman Empirecollapsed in the year 476, the eastern half remained intact, and it remained relatively stable until Emperor Justinian came to power. Emperor Justinian was Emperor of the Byzantine Empirein the mid sixth century, from 527 to 565, and headed his empire s notable renovatio imperii, or restoration of the Empire during that time. Justinian devoted his reign to reclaim the lost western half of the Roman Empire, and recreate it through military conquest and social reform. The military conquest was to expand the Byzantine Empire so it reached the farthest extent of the Roman Empire, which was around the early second century, while the social reform was to recreate the Roman law that once applied during the height of the Roman Empire. So, these questions must be posed: How did Emperor Justinian attempt to reform and recreate the Roman Empire, and what did he do to restore it? Were his legislative and social reforms ... Foundations Of Engineering Lab Report Foundations of Engineering Lab Report Project 2 Dominic Simpson Department of Civil Engineering University of South Florida Tampa, U.S.A. simpsond@mail.usf.edu I. INTRODUCTION Engineering has been an essential part of society since man created the wheel. Even from the days in ancient Egypt when the pharaohs built the pyramids they used their own form of engineering. Engineers were always a very prestigious occupation. It was roman engineers who allowed the city of Rome to be built from the palaces to the aqueducts. After the roman engineers built the aqueducts then engineering evolved to a more renaissance approach including building castles and moats. Kings and queens would use engineers for personal statues of themselves or for improvements on their castles. The foundation of engineering completely changed when Isaac newton invented calculus and put a formula to gravity. A couple hundred years later, many engineers focused on improving machinery in the industrial revolution, along with many improvements in the medical field. Lately some of the more popular feats of engineers include large skyscrapers being built across the world, and one of the best inventions of all which is the computer. • 38. Excessive Amount Of Asphaltene Deposition Essay An excessive amount of asphaltene deposition may result in a severe formation damage and sometimes blocking the flow path as seen in Figure 6c. Therefore, the injected solvent cannot further diffuse deep into the matrix (due severe to asphaltene deposition) and eventually causes injectivity problem. In this study, C5 injection resulted in the high amount of asphaltene deposition in porous media (11.4 % per Figure 7) and it could block the main flow path, the fracture (as seen in Figure 6c). The pressure profiles of C5 injection shown in Figure 8 can also explain the formation damage caused by severe asphaltene deposition. At early time stage of solvent injection, solvent mainly diffuses into the oil within the fracture path (while diffusing into the matrix as well) and recovered most of the oil in this area (up to 80 minutes in Figure 8). Thereafter, the solvent is occupied the whole fracture and due to the concentration gradient between the solvent and matrix s oil, the solvent diffused into the matrix, dilute the oil by precipitation and deposition of asphaltene. Continuing solvent injection resulted in more asphaltene deposition in the matrix and especially fracture matrix interface (where the highest concentration gradient is) that eventually cause the formation damage and reduce the injectivity. • 39. Seatbelt Research Paper Newton s law of inertia states ...an object in motion tends to stay in motion with the same speed and direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. In the event that a person who is not wearing a seatbelt gets into a collision they will continue to stay in motion until they hit the dashboard, windshield or etc. The way to prevent injuries from occurring during a collision would be wearing your seatbelt as it stops the forward momentum. Kinetic energy affects the stopping distance of two identical vehicles going different speeds because when you double your speed, you re doubling the kinetic energy of your vehicle up to four times. The brakes must do an amount of work that is equal to the original kinetic energy. Therefore, the stopping ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The larger the vehicle, the larger the mass. The smaller the vehicle, the less the mass. Assuming that both vehicles are going the same speed, the small vehicle will take less stopping distance compared to a large vehicle. A driver can best prepare entering sharp curves in the roadway by gradually decelerating to a safe speed before entering the curve. If you enter a curve with high speed or brake suddenly, you risk the chance of losing control of your vehicle. If you find yourself entering a sharp curve too fast, brake gently. Bicyclists and motorcyclists have to lean toward the inside to keep balance when rounding a curve. In a manual transmission vehicle, shift to a lower gear. The fatality of a car crash depends on a certain number of things. First, is the driver and/or passengers wearing seatbelts? Someone who is wearing a seatbelt is more likely to make it out alive with a few minor injuries than someone who isn t. Second, the force of impact between two objects. The faster you drive, the greater the striking power of your vehicle, the worse the damage in a collision. Third, the mass of the vehicle. The vehicle with the less mass will take the greater impact. Larger vehicles have more energy and momentum than smaller ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Isopod Prioritization The data generated in this experiment is insufficient to reject the null hypothesis. As a result, we cannot ascertain a statistically significant trend involving isopod prioritization between foraging behaviors and predator avoidance mechanisms in environments with elevated levels of predation risk. Even though the experiment produced statistically insignificant data, an interesting biological trend emerged during the final sampling intervals of the experiment. As the experiment progressed, an increased number of isopods in both treatments started to cross the mesocosms to forage for particulate organic matter. This observation clearly exemplified the prioritization of foraging over predation risk. While this observation was important to note, there is a larger biological underpinning present in the connection and comparison between the experimental and the control treatments. In... Adding experimental treatments that include dead conspecifics will not only be instrumental in investigating the precedence of different chemical cues in isopods predator avoidance, but also in ascertaining additional factors that determine the extent to which isopods maintain a balance between foraging and predator avoidance. Moreover, reducing the food availability to both the crayfish and isopods before conducting the experiment will elevate both the chemical cue for the presence of a hungry predator and the isopods intrinsic need to forage. All in all, future research that incorporates the above recommendations will minimize sampling error, increase the probability of obtaining statistically significant results, and shed light on new evidence about the precedence of various chemical cues and intrinsic cues in isopods decision making ... • 43. Advantages Of Waterfall Methodology Christine McKay CMGT410 October 23, 2017 Week 5 Final The waterfall methodology is one of the most prominently recognized and most utilized methods in project management. Whether you re using the waterfall methodology to manage a project or in some other fashion, let s say for example, in software development, it works the same in producing a product in a sequential manner and design, and in a series of stages that follow each other one after another. This means, once a person completes one step they move onto the next step and not before. As this process is sequential, once a step has been completed, the person cannot go back to a previous step not without scratching the whole project and starting from the beginning. There s no room for change or error, so a project outcome and an extensive plan must be set in the beginning and then followed carefully. The Agile project managementapproach, also referenced by the Agile ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The disadvantages of the waterfall methodology we re, in essence, resolved by implementing an incremental approach, with the introduction of the Agile methodology approach. The Agile approach introduced a much more simplistic design that included modules broken down into prioritized sprints . These sprints were recognized as a benefit to many project management teams as they allowed project managers the ability to perform enhanced evaluations on a much more frequent basis. This also provides increased opportunities for the discovery of bugs and customer feedback as completed phases are rolled out. One of the biggest disadvantages to the utilizing the Agile methodology is not having a clear and concise project deadline, the projects end result and budgetary confinements can vary greatly and the end result can be grossly different than what the original scoping plan had planned intended it to ... Chances are high that В§179 deduction will be limited to a smaller amount and bonus depreciation will be excluded for future years. Therefore it is rather crucial for Patriot to change existing accounting method to maximize deductions and to avoid any risks of potentially getting examined by the IRS. The Edwards family tree shows great record from the early 1700 s to the mid 1800 s. This family tree demonstrates when a person was baptized; when they got married; and when they passed away. The Edwards familychart show the different relations of marriages and fertility rate from today s society. From the chart we can determine that the Edwards family show a different demography compared to todays society. This is because life expectancy was shorter; families were larger; and finally marriages were happening at a young age. According to the Edwards family tree life expectancy was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Looking at the chart it is hard to tell when some of the women were born because it was not recorded. However looking at the Edwards family tree many of the women got married in their 20 s. Some of these women were pregnant while getting married. On the another hand the men got married in their mid to late twenties which is a lot older compare to the women. For example Thomas Edward son of Thomas and Sarah Potman got married to Sarah White at the age of thirty four. As we can see there is a big age difference between the male and females. From the Edwards family tree most of the women had children right away. Some were even pregnant at marriage, for example Richard Edward who married Mary Deets in 1730 and at the same year had their first child Sarah Ewards. This shows some couples were involved with each other before marriage, however on the family tree some couples waited a year or two to have children. For example John Edward who married Elizabeth Ward in 1739 their first kid John Edwards was born 1742, that is three years after they got married. From the family tree it seemed uncommon for a married couple to wait a year or two years later to have children; which is really different compare to today because many marry couples wait at least three years to have children. Since Many families did have plenty of children and gave birth right after marriage it seemed that child birth was not planned. Looking at the chart many married couples had ... • 51. The Effect Of Temperature, Hormones And Blocking Agents On... This lab was performed to examine the function of the heart in frogs and observe the effects of temperature, hormones and blocking agents on autonomic control. It was found that when the heart was bathed with cold saline, the mean amplitude of heart contraction decreased by 35%, and the mean heart rate decreased by 34% when compared to the amplitude and heart rate with warm saline. When varying concentrations of acetylcholinewere put on the heart, there was very little change in the amplitude of heart contraction. Similarly, there was very little change in heart rate when using concentrations of 10 8 to 10 5 M of acetylcholine, but heart rate dropped 20% from 10 5 to 10 4. When d tubocurarine was used as a blocking agent, heart rate increased 31%. Similar results were found when using adrenaline on the heart. There was very little change in amplitude of heart contraction, but there was a 15% increase in heart rate from 10 5M to 10 4M, with little fluctuations between 10 8M and 10 5M. When propranolol was applied, mean heart rate decreased by 11%. Introduction The autonomic nervous system has a large influence on the function of circulatory system, and has two separate branches: the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) and the parasympathetic nervous system (PSNS) (anatomy). Each division releases specific neurotransmitters that trigger different effects on organs such as the heart. The SNS releases adrenaline, leading to an increase in heart rate and cardiac output, ...
