2. Analyzing Virginia Derryberry s Bonaventure Painting
While there are many beautiful and thought provoking works of art to choose from,
Bonaventure, painted by Virginia Derryberry, piqued my interest with its vibrant color and life.
Honestly, I have not visited many museums, but Virginia s interpretation of Savannah s famous
Bonaventure cemetery leaves me wanting to visit more museums. While browsing the museum there
were few that really captured my attention and mesmerized me. I will take this opportunity to
describe, analyze, interpret, and judge Virginia s Bonaventure.
Firstly, I will describe in detail Virginia Derryberry s art piece. Bonaventure is an oil painting on
canvas and is the largest painting in a series she painted in 1992. Virginia was living in Savannah and

The flowers are pivotal to the painting as they serve many purposes. One of their purposes is to
balance out the entirety of the piece. The flowers are also complementary colors that makes the piece
vibrant and harmonious. The placement and color draw the viewers eyes, using line of sight, first to
the flowers, then to the sculptures. Bonaventure is also full of curved lines, most prominently in the
flowers and swan, which gives a very soothing affect, leaving the viewer relaxed. Virginia used
several hues and values in the entire painting to create depth and intensity in the painting, giving it
vibrant coloring. This gives the painting a very light feeling, contrasting with the cemetery setting.
Although Bonaventure is a two dimensional piece of art,
Virginia uses space and placement to give the appearance of three dimensions. She overlaps objects
several times, such as flowers in front of a pedestal, or a figure in front of trees. Techniques such as
this creates the illusion of a three dimensional image. To add to the illusion, she introduces light with
shading and shadow to create the effect of a brightly shinning sun.
Next I will use my analysis of Bonaventure to interpret her piece. Virginia does a

3. How Edgar Allan Poe s Writing Affected His Life
How Edgar Allan Poe s Writing Affected His Life The Cat, I remember, had been hung in a garden
adjacent to the house. Is a quote from Edgar Allen Poe s story, The Black Cat. All of the stories/
poems he has written relate to his life in a lot of ways. Examples of such could be love, alcohol, and
madness. To start off, love is a huge effect in Edgar Allen Poe s life. We loved with a love that was
more than love is a quote from his Poem, Annabel Lee. Annabel Lee had died of tuberculosis which
made Edgar very upset. Edgar would lay by her grave due to how much he had missed her. Edgar had
become very depressed after losing her. He believed their love was very strong. Due to his depression
and devastation, he started to drink alcohol. Furthermore, Alcohol was a devastating factor of Poe s
life. One night, returning home, much intoxicated, from one of my haunts about town, I fancied that
the cat avoided my presence. Is another line from his poem, The Black Cat. The character in his story
became abusive due to the alcohol, and caused much fright to the cat/ narrator. Poe had much love for
the cat, but due to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I cut off the head and the arms and the legs is a line from his story the Tell Tale Heart. One example is
he had wanted an eye from an old man, and so the character suffocated the man, cut up his body, and
hid him under the floorboards out of anger and selfishness. His anger made him seem very abusive
and very harsh. One other example is in The Black Cat, when the character was about to kill another
one of his cats, his wife put her hand on the cat to stop him, and so he killed her too. He put both of
their bodies inside his wall, in which the police had figured out due to hearing a cry from the cat in
which was still alive. This Madness can relate to his life because he went through madness when he
lost his wife and so him killing his wife was basically how it felt when he lost

Bobby s teacher, Ms. Matthews has had some concerns regarding his behavior. She stated that he is
disruptive, never completes his work and that he is very negative when it comes to school (Pomeroy,

5. The September 11th Attacks And Its Impact On The United...
The September 11th attacks became a turning point in the evolution of security systems and models in
the United States. These horrific events also challenged the security status quo around the globe. The
current evidence suggests that the level of planning in the September 11th attacks was truly
unprecedented. The complexity of the activities, systems, resources, and decisions involved eventually
translated into a terrorist attack of enormous scope and magnitude. The September 11th acts of
terrorism set the stage for reconsidering the effectiveness of all airport security methodologies and
techniques. The concern continues to be whether or not the continued improvements that are needed to
ensure that the measures implemented to boost airport security do not violate the rights of passengers.
For the passengers of the four flights hijacked on September 11, 2001, that day became the end of
everything. According to the 9/11 Commission (2004), one of the first flights to be boarded was
American 11 in Boston. In the meantime, passengers of United 175 were checking in for their flight
(9/11 Commission, 2004). The hijackers of both flights passed a number of security checks and,
without any suspicion, boarded both planes. Their aircraft pushed back from the gates without any
delays (9/11 Commission, 2004). At that same time, a group of hijackers was checking in at the
American Airlines flight 77 to Los Angeles (9/11 Commission, 2004). They passed routine security

were increased. Also, greater surgeon satisfaction was achieved with this technique [6,7].
Richardson et al. [10] reported a series of eight patients undergoing abdominal vascular surgical
procedures.
Following induction of general anesthesia, bilateral
PVBs with catheters at T10 were placed and their use was continued after surgery for 4 days with
other analgesia such as diclofenac and patient controlled analgesia with morphine. Th ere was no need
for additional intraoperative opioids or neuromuscular blockers and excellent postoperative analgesia
was provided. No complications were detected because of the PVB [11,12].
Wound infi ltration with a LA was described for the fi rst time in 1935 by Capelle. Afterwards, Blades
and
Ford used this technique for gynecological procedures, reporting a decrease in opioid requirements
[13].
Hopf et al. [13] confi rmed that the reduction in pain caused by local infi ltration reduces the
decreased wound perfusion and oxygenation induced by infl ammatory response and increased
catecholamines, thus improving wound healing, and this was observed in this study as no cases of
postoperative wound infection were recorded within 1 month [13,14].
In a systematic review performed by Liu et al. [4], the usefulness of this analgesic method was confi
rmed during several painful surgical procedures, such as thoracic, cardiac, gynecological, or spinal
surgeries.
Th e success of this technique may be related to the nature of surgery and also to the level

Dedication This book is dedicated to my dear friend and business partner Ib Moller, a great
entrepreneur, a superb sales professional, an excellent executive and a fine person in every way.
Preface This book is for ambitious salespeople who are eager to increase their sales and boost their
incomes immediately. It is written for those who are, or intend to be, in the top 10% of their fields in
selling. Every idea is aimed at the Sales Superstars of today and tomorrow. Salespeople are primarily
motivated by two things: money and status. They want to be paid well and they measure their success
by the size of their incomes relative to others. In addition, they want to be recognized and appreciated

This book is designed to give you practical insights that will enable you to make those jumps in
performance, to give you the winning edge. Here is another key idea for success: your weakest
important skill sets the height at which you can use all your other skills, and determines your income.
In other words, if you are poor in a key skill area like prospecting, or closing, that one weakness alone
will determine your sales results and how much you earn. A single deficiency in your ability can hold
you back from succeeding, no matter how good you might be in every other area. Put another way, it
is your strengths that have brought you to where you are today, but it is your weaknesses that are now
holding you back from progressing further and faster. This book is designed to give you specific tools
you can use to overcome any critical weaknesses you may have, first by identifying them, and second,
by giving you practical exercises you can apply immediately to strengthen yourself in that area. This
book deals simultaneously with both the inner game of selling, the mental component, and the outer
game of selling, the methods and techniques of actually making the sale. When you begin to improve
in both areas simultaneously, both your sales and your self confidence will increase at a rapid rate.
Only small differences in attitude and ability separate the top salespeople from the average. When you
learn and apply the 21 Great Ways

8. My Fear Of Drowning
Everyone has a greatest fear whether it be from fear of dolls to fear of death. Fear is characterized by a
feeling of terror or dread caused by an object that you believe to be harmful. All fears are caused by an
event that has happened to someone that traumatizes them for life. A fear is sometimes unovercomable
and this may be because to overcome it one must be a certain characteristic. For example, to overcome
the fear of ugliness one must lose weight and sometimes acquire surgery. My greatest fear is the idea
of drowning and this is a fear of many. I do not have a certain characteristic to acquire before
overcoming my fear of drowning except for knowledge of pool etiquette and rules. To understand one
s fear the information about the traumatizing event must be presented. Also when they found out the
fear existed and how one overcame, if did, the fear.
Fear of drowning is my greatest fear because when I was eight I drowned in a clear, blue, treacherous
pool by the hotel with the dark burgundy colored brick and cream colored doors. I remember my
cousins laugh whenever someone went the wrong way as they were playing marco polo. I was sitting
on the scorching cement by the pool when I decided I wanted to cool down and play with everyone
else. I did not have the understanding of what the big, black numbers by the pool meant, all I saw was
six and dived in. As soon as I dove in, I felt the lack of air, replaced by water, reaching my lungs as I
tried to stand and breathe

9. What Are The Causes Of Street Children
2.2.3 Social Causes
Every phenomenon of social system exists or developed with various perspectives, in this way street
children phenomenon has its own social perspective in urban areas of Ethiopia. Most of the population
of the street children in urban areas comes from rural areas. Poverty, broken families and lack of
healthy interaction between parents and children are main causes for children to move towards urban
areas or to start life as street children. Children move from rural areas towards cities bring with them a
different perspective and life style. Therefore, social perspective in the street children phenomenon is
different from street children having urban and rural background. In the urban cities mostly nuclear

It is clear that, a child who lives in an abusive family will be influenced by another child who is
already living on the street after leaving his/her violent family. The FSCE (2003) names the peer
pressure as one of the underlying factors leading to children living on the streets in Ethiopia most
street children choose to go and live on the street as their friends do because they think that this could
lead to a better life.
2.3 Challenges Experienced by Street Children
Street children like any other children, need certain resources to meet their physical and emotional
needs, needs be protected , to be taught how to live in society, to be educated and to have vocational
training as stated in the UNCRC (1989:24).
However, street children are often victims of every conceivable physical and moral danger and as they
grow older, they often become a danger to others. After such insecure childhoods, most street children
are condemned to spend their lives excluded from mainstream society (Schmidt 2003:27). Street
children face untold hardships and dangers on the streets and their living conditions on the roads and
public squares of cities all over the world in the eyes of the public, are extremely

10. Fahrenheit 451 Dystopian Society Quotes
The Dystopian Society According to German author, Heinrich Heine, Where they have burned books,
they will end in burning human beings. This quote relates to the book burning and the consequences in
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. In Fahrenheit 451, the government bans all printed materials, and
the firefighters are responsible to enforce the book banning law. The firefighters job in this dystopian,
emotionless, egalitarian society is to burn the houses that contain books. This society depends heavily
on technology, where The Family is an interactive television wall. Guy Montag is a well respected
senior fireman; however, he starts to question the government after meeting the radical Clarisse. He
starts to read confiscated books and decides ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One such character is Montag, a fireman who comes face to face with his vacuous society and starts to
search for his new identity. For example, he begins to question the role of firemen after meeting
Clarisse. He becomes a new person when he questions himself and those around him. After Montag
acknowledges that the Mechanical Hound is coming for him, He waded in and stripped in the darkness
to the skin, splashed his body, arms, legs, and head with raw liquor... and he was swept away in the
dark (Bradbury 133). While it may seem that Montag is simply cleansing himself to confuse the
Mechanical Hound, it can be taken deeper to show that Montag is transforming into a new person. The
Mechanical Hound s insistent chasing of Montag symbolizes the thoughts that Montag has been
struggling through. The Mechanical Hound chases Montag because Montag has turned to ideals
oppositional to the social norm. Therefore, the purpose of Montag s existence in Fahrenheit 451 is to
seek for the truth that is hidden by the government. Furthermore, another character in the novel is
Mildred. She represents the mindlessness of the dystopian society. For instance, when Montag and
Mildred are having a discussion, she says, I meant to tell you. Forgot. Forgot...McClellan. Run over by

Now and then, a car will travel past on the main road outside the motel, which creates an almost
soothing whizzing noise. With each traveling car, the shimmering headlights pierce through the gaps
in the curtain. I should really be asleep, but instead for some strange reason I m wide awake, thinking
about everything like I normally do. Since a young age, I ve always been an over thinker. I glance to
Dean on my right, but he s fast asleep with only his bare back facing me while the rest of him is

That s the part I m struggling with, and have done for quite a while, but tonight s events have put even
more weight on my shoulders. How the hell does Dean cope with it so well? Or is he coping with it

pressure situations with calm and composure. Even if Dean is worried about what is facing us, a huge
part of me would want him to remain strong, otherwise I know I would have a breakdown! He s the
one who is keeping me stable at the moment. I just hope this whole thing with staying at Amy s
grandfather s place won t backfire on us, otherwise it would be my fault, and there is nothing we could
do to get ourselves out of that mess. An uneasy sigh leaves me, becoming the only thing that can be
heard in the room. Staring hopelessly at the cracked ceiling, like I have done for the last couple of
hours, a ruffle comes from Dean s side of the bed. His bare muscular body rolls over to face me, I turn
naturally to face him only to see the whites of his eyes staring right at me. Talk to me, he whispers
while repositioning his arm so he can rest his head on it. Don t be stupid, get some sleep! I whisper
back, coaxing him to go back to his slumber, despite his widened eyes. I couldn t sleep much, in fact I

12. The Copyright Clause Of The State Of Washington Should...
The Supreme Court has tried to explain that the Copyright Clause of the Constitution was intended to
establish independent, entrepreneurial, self sustaining authorship and publishing as the means of
serving the public interest in securing the production of valuable literary and scientific works. To that
one must ask what are the consequences of remix? When I think about it remixing has left a positive
and inferior aspect of life for many people. When people are able to steal or copy the work of an
individual without any consequence they are sending a clear message saying that they are free of the
law. Therefore, I propose that the copyright office of the state of Washington should change the
copyright policy of remixing so that it may benefit more people than just the original artist.
What are the common consequences of remixing? According to Jenkins, The rise of disco culture in
the 70s inspired producers to cut longer extended versions of singles so club patrons could weed out
the songs they liked for more than the usual three to four minutes (Jenkins). I believe that if true artists
fear that their music may be remixed then they may not do it to their best ability. Now,
imitation/remixing in art is not only all right, but it is encouraged, and using someone else s sound,
idea, etc. is considered flattery. According to UC Davis professor of law Thomas W. Joo said, Most
copyright scholars agree that this power is inimical to semiotic democracy and that reforming

15. Credibility Sparknotes
Credibility
Lucinda Chumley
Life Pacific College
Credibility
James Kouzes and Barry Posner wrote a leadership book entitled Credibility: How leaders gain and
lose it, why people demand it ( Credibility ). It was written specifically for managers because, while
academia had a wealth of research regarding credibility, little had been directed toward managers
(Kouzes Posner, 2003, p. 276). The edition selected for review was published in 2003. The purpose of
this paper is to examine the leadership theories it contains, both explicit and implicit.
Implicit theories are influenced by individual beliefs, values, and personality traits, as well as by
shared beliefs and values about leaders in the organizational culture and the national culture (Yukl,
2010, p. 135). This idiom states this principal well: Every action begins with a belief. One distinctive
feature of Credibility is that all chapter headings, and most sub headings, use action verbs with an ing
ending. For example, chapter titles include: Discovering yourself (p. 58) Appreciating constituents (p.
88), Affirming shared values (p. 119), and et cetera. This indicates implicit theory at work. On every
page, the very words convey and compel action. The authors are utilizing charismatic communication
(Yukl, 2010, p. 265).
The unseen force that propels Credibility is a blend of ethical, transformational, and servant leadership
theories . The book s introductory pages initiate this idea with

Executive Summary
Improvements in health care and life sciences are an important source of gains in health and longevity
globally. The development of innovative pharmaceutical products plays a critical role in ensuring
these continued gains. To encourage the continued development of new drugs, economic incentives
are essential. These incentives are principally provided through direct and indirect government
funding, intellectual property laws, and other policies that favor innovation. Without such incentives,
private corporations, which bring to market the vast majority of new drugs, would be less able to
assume the risks and costs necessary to continue their research and development (R D). In the United
States, government action has focused on creating the environment that would best encourage further
innovation and yield a constant flow of new and innovative medicines to the market. The goal has
been to ensure that consumers would benefit both from technological breakthroughs and the
competition that further innovation generates. The United States also relies on a strong generic
pharmaceutical industry to create added competitive pressure to lower drug prices. Recent action by
the Administration and Congress has accelerated the flow of generic medicines to the market for
precisely that reason. By contrast, in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and

With the presidential election going on today I am baffled at how many of my friends care so little

my roommate if she had voted and she answered back with well no I don t really know who to vote for
and my vote wouldn t matter anyways, so I m just not going to do it... I was baffled at how little she
cared and how she didn t want to try to understand more about the people running in order for her to

enough to try to understand what is going on around us in our government then this could be

self consumed that things like politics are not even a blimp on their radar so why try to learn more

younger generation do not take the time to study an understand all of these political matters then
worse could come to worse and we could lose our freedom just by allowing others who may not have

20. Study of Homosexual Men in The Relationships between Life...
The study The Relationships between Life Events and Mental Health in Homosexual Men by Michael
W. Ross ¬¬¬goes into detail about previous research, relevant information, and his purpose within the
introduction. Ross explains that that there is a large amount of literature on the testing of homosexual
populations. While some studies have found differences in psychological adjustment between
homosexual and heterosexual groups whereas others have not. One piece of previous research was
done by Atkinson who found that gay men with or without HIV infection had significantly higher
rates of anxiety and major depressive illness throughout their lives. Weinberg and Williams study
demonstrated that extrinsic factors (nutrition, heat, cold, altitude, clothing, and extended operations)
caused lower psychosocial adjustment by examining homosexual men in three societies with different
reactions to homosexuality, which ranged from relatively accepting to unaccepting. However, there
were no significant differences detected on measures of psychological adjustment. The author
describes one main piece of background information that is relevant to this study. Sagarin and Kelly
who summarize the contradiction that one cannot maintain that homosexual men are no different in
psychological adjustment than heterosexual men, and that psychological maladjustment in
homosexual men is a result of social stigmatization. This information is relevant because there is
probably a significant relationship

21. Legal Analysis Of Lee P. Cao And Louann P
Legal Analysis Lee P. Cao and Louann P. Cao, v. Huan Nguyen and Nega Pham (1) A representation
of fact was made; Through the duplex case, we found a couple responding to an advertisement in
which they had seen, which dealt with the sale of a living space. This space had been advertised as a
duplex, which by definition, entails that it would be a home that would be divided into two separate
apartments where potentially two different people(s) may reside. The representation of the property
being a duplex residence was made. (2) The representation of the property being a duplex was false;
Although the residence for sale had been listed as a duplex, the property itself did not comply with the
space necessary to fulfill a duplex standard. Therefore, with this lack of space, the home did not
uphold to the municipal code, which would legally accept it as a duplex. (3) The representation was
made recklessly without knowledge of its truth. From the advertisement and information given by the
sellers, we find that there are several factors when it comes to the question of whether or not the
representation was made recklessly without the knowledge of its truth and as a positive assertion. The
sellers disclosed the information that the home had been previously divided and rented into a two
family dwelling which would lead one to think that it was in fact a duplex. Despite the layout of the
home and reliance of fact from the previous ownership, now the sellers were also under the

Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote many books, and even received five Newberry Honor Medals for them.
She was born on February 7th 1876 and lived until age ninety. Wilder was the author of The Little
House series the second book in the series is about her husband s experiences growing up on a farm in
New York. The third book is about the time Wilder spent on the American Prairie. In these books,
Wilder uses imagery, symbolism, and language from when she was growing up. One of the most
common elements is Wilder s writing is imagery. She uses beautiful compilations of words to paint a
picture in the minds of readers. An example of this is, In a perfect circle the sky curved down to the
level land and the wagon was in the circle s exact middle, (13). This is a description of how it looked
when Wilder was traveling on the American Prairie. This quote could make you feel two different
things, freedom and loneliness. At this point in time, Wilder and her family were probably feeling a
mix of both. Later in the book, Wilder provides another example, Everything was striped there. Stripes
of sunshine came through the cracks in the west wall, and stripes of shadow came down from the
poles overhead. The stripes of shade and sunshine were all across Laura s bare feet. And through the
cracks between the logs she could see stripes of prairie. The sweet smell of the prairie mixed with the
sweet smell of cut wood. This particular piece of imagery describes how it looked when Pa first

The paper focuses on the origin of the Pilates method of exercise. It also takes a step by step journey
of Joseph Pilates (Joe) who was the founder of the Pilates method of exercise. Finally the paper will
consider Pilates in the contemporary world.
Pilates refers to a system of physical fitness that was established in the early 20th century. It was
developed by Joseph Pilates. Joe was a German born in the year 1880. He suffered from rickets,
rheumatic fever, and asthma during his childhood years. Because of the continuous suffering brought
by the foregoing conditions, Joe was very week and he always felt vulnerable in a rough realm. This
situation inspired him to embark on an enduring pursuit in a bid to gain health and the much needed ...

During the same period, Joe began to work individually with some clients, similar to what trainers in
the contemporary societies do in studios the world over (Robinson, 2002). His training became so
popular that in the year 1925, he was invited to work as a trainer of the German army. However,
Pilates was not content with the political stand that Germany was nurturing and he left Germany
again. He moved to the United States and settled in the New York upon the commendations of some of
his athlete and colleagues.
He met a lady known as Clara while aboard a steamer on his way to New York. Clara was suffering
from the symptoms of arthritis. Joe offered to cure her soreness through his devices and informed her
of his dream of establishing a studio where he would carry out his work and develop his exercising
methods further. Joe and Clara fell in love and soon after reaching New York they tied the knot. While
in New York Joe continued to develop his methods of exercise and together with Clara, his wife, they
established the very first Pilates studio in New York during the 1920s.
For the following decades, Joe devoted himself to training other people in his methods routines,
developing exercises, and use of apparatus. He also expressed his concepts in writing. He often
considered himself as the ideal test for the rationality of his methods of exercise (Pilates, 2012).

28. Difference Between Liberalism And Anarchism
The multiple strands of both liberalism and anarchism prevent any continuous agreement between the
main ideas of the two ideologies. The fundamental belief that mankind comprises rational free
thinking individuals is common to both view points. However, the level to which the individual can be
trusted differs between the two. Anarchists place greater emphasis on the ability for individuals to
excel without the interference of an overarching body. Liberals argue that the state is a needed device
to ensure that the liberty of each individual is maintained and not limited by other individuals. Liberals
believe that individuals are rational and able to recognise their own self interest, this being the main
reason why liberals support high levels of individual freedom only constrained to some extent by the
state. Liberal individualism, especially within classical liberalism, means that individuals are atomistic
and that they will act rationally in support of their own self interest rather than in the interests of
society as a whole. Although the liberal adoption of laissez faire economics promotes an atomistic
view on individuals, it also argues that an atomistic approach to economics will benefit the entirety of
society. However, modern liberals have developed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, both ideologies struggle to have a distinct set of agreed ideas and therefore a clean

systems fundamentally disagree with the economic principles of both classical and modern liberalism.

require a structure within which to operate. Anarchism can therefore be seen as the extreme liberal and
extreme socialist forms of liberalism. Anarchism, in all forms, is the critique of the centrist liberal

31. Positive And Negative Effects Of Anabolic Steroids
Imagine you are competing for a job, but everyone else is better than you. You need to do something
that is going to quickly make you better. Now imagine that job is a sport. You might think steroids are
the answer to your problem, but it isn t that easy. There are many adverse effects from steroids, such
as the destruction of your organs or your physical appearance. There are many more adverse effects to
using steroids than positive ones. This is why it is very risky to use them. Before using them you need
to know what steroids are and what happens to your body when you take them. Anabolic androgenic
steroids, also known as anabolic steroids, are a man made version of the male sex hormone
testosterone. According to Dr. Nora Volkow, the director of the National Institute of Drug Abuse,
anabolic steroids were originally created in the 1930 s to treat a disease in which testicles did not fully
grow or function sexually. Steroids are used to treat illnesses, such as men with low levels of
testosterone, young boys who are late with hitting puberty, and people who are losing muscle mass
due to breast cancer, AIDs, or HIV. After a while, bodybuilders discovered that steroids could increase
muscle mass, so they started taking steroids to get bigger. This discovery spread to other sports as well
and is now the use of steroids is problem in almost every sport. Anabolic androgenic steroids consist
of two parts: anabolic and androgenic. Anabolic and androgenic are terms used to

33. Descartes Res Cogitans, Res Extensa, God
Recalling the distinction made earlier between primary objects of perception (objects of mathematics)
and secondary objects of perception (apparent objects formed from observer dependent sensory
properties), Descartes investigates whether material objects exist by asking two questions: (1) do
primary objects exist? and (2) do secondary objects exist? In answering the first question, Descartes
draws on a distinction between imagining primary objects and conceiving of primary objects. He notes
that he conceives of primary objects (such as triangles) clearly and distinctly, but this in no way means
that such objects actually exist. It only means that they might exist since the idea contains no
contradiction. (See the discussion of possible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Descartes argues that a distinct idea of my own mind does not include the ideas of imagination,
sensation, purposeful movement of body, appetites or most emotions (Principles, part one, §48, I, 208
9). That is, had I none of these things, I would continue to be the same self, although in a much
impoverished manner, and could still think (and that alone is my essence) in other ways. All of the
above involve some relation to the body.
But the reverse is not true: it is impossible to think of imagination or sensation or purposeful
movement without a mind. That is to say, the former are of the body, but not merely of the body.
Descartes writes, In imagining, it [the mind] turns towards the body (Meditations 6, II, 51). These
things are distinct from mind as possible modes are from a thing (e.g. as a cuboid shape is from a
body). On the other hand, mind cannot be thought without it thinking, at least in the sense of pure
thought therefore thinking in the non bodily sense of pure intellection (see Principles, part one, §32, I,
204) is an essential mode. This distinction between merely possible and essential modes provides an
argument for the separability of pure mind from things of the body. But, again, separability does not
mean separate the immediate and almost overwhelming fact of our existence is the factual
togetherness of mind and body.
Nevertheless, that which in the body produces

The Problem and Its Background

In the past, pre enrollment systems took a lot of time to accomplish, from securing plenty of forms, to

and after the enlistment phase. All these processes were done manually and were very time
consuming. Now however, with the option of porting all these operations over the internet, they have
become faster to do, more convenient, and easily scalable. This chapter will cover the current systems

The Enlistment and Clearance System will allow students of CIIT to check online if they are eligible
to take the subjects that they need for the upcoming trimester. Students will login to the website and
they can view all the subjects they have already taken, their grades on these subjects, subjects that they
are eligible to take for the next trimester, the schedule and classroom assignments for the said subjects,
and the student s clearance status. When a student enlists online, he picks the subjects that he is
eligible to take for the next trimester. He will also be able to choose the schedule of the said subjects if
there is more than one class being offered. After picking the subjects and schedule, he will be shown a
completed assessment form that he can print out. He will then bring this form to the school registrar
where he can pay the necessary fees and be officially enrolled. Professors of CIIT will be able to
upload their students grades online. School administrators can change a student s clearance status
online for any reason that they see fit. Actions done will be logged. All these processes are currently
being done manually by CIIT. It is tedious and time consuming for a lot of the students and the school

ndeed, once acne is evident on one s face, there is a continuous search what works best to effectively
remove them or perhaps even avoid them before they appear. However, in some circumstances, it is
inevitable but something can be done by using an acne remover.
As acne appears on the face, many teenagers feel ashamed and want to hide from their friends as this

36. Death Constant Beyond Love By Gabriel Garcia Mrquez
In the short story, Death Constant Beyond Love , the significance of the title of the story has many
meanings. The first meaning is that death is the one this that is constant. Regardless of how we feel
about one another, emotions evolved, and even love, all things will come to an end. If something dies,
it is forever. Therefore, nothing can come back to life. Giving death a constant role in life. I found the
title of this story to be very direct to its readers. This story spoke on different symbols that author,
Gabriel Garcia Márquez, touched on. The symbols he spoke about were politics, corruption, trading of
women, human vanity, isolation, and moral decrepitude. These different concerning issues are
definitely issues that we as people go through each day. From the deception and corruption from
politics to people feeling lonely and feeling isolated from life. But, does this make these things okay?
One of the main characters, Senator Onesimo Sanchez, is running for reelection. He is the
representation of politics and the government. He comes to the town called, Rosal del Virrey, where he
holds a public ceremony to address the community. His speech was memorized and rehearsed which
also held many false promises, lacked significance and true meaning. Once again, showing that the

38. Plato s Theory Of Forms
In Platonism, few philosophical theories are as essential as the theory of Forms. This is besides the
fact that it is generally overlooked in many of Plato s writings even though it lays the foundations to
many other theories of his. The Republic is where the theory is first mentioned, followed by
discussion in Phaedo and criticized in Parmenides and Timaeus thereafter. (These works will be
further discussed later throughout the essay.) Plato s theory of Forms, (sometimes referred to as the
theory of Ideas) states basically: that which is made of matter and can be physically perceived by a
human through one of his five senses does not represent true reality. The realm of ideas and abstract
thought is in fact the ideal representation of reality. (When used in this manner, the first letter of form
is usually capitalized). The aim of this essay is to identify What is a Form? and What are the critiques
of Plato s theory of Forms?
According to the theory, a Form is technically bound to nor space or time. A Form does not exist as a
material object and therefore cannot exist in three dimensional space. Because this is true of a Form, it
consequently can neither exist at any particular given point in time. In truth, Forms can only be sensed
by the intellect, but they are not bound to the confines of one s mind. Forms exist outside of the mind
itself. Occasionally referred to as Ideas , Plato s original term in Greek for Form was eidos .
As stated earlier, Forms do not depend

They may also hide their drinking.
Alcoholism is an illness and is very common. It is very hard for an alcoholic to stop drinking because
they know how they feel when they do not drink. Alcoholics usually try to stop drinking because they
maybe have hurt someone they love or may also be on the verge of losing their job.
People who stop drinking sometimes may have to go to the hospital for a period of time, this is called
detoxification. This is the best way for treatment when it is hard for them to stop.
The withdrawal symptoms are things such as shaking, sweating, fever, pains and nausea.
These can be severe and dangerous to that persons health. After detoxification comes rehabilitation
this is a period of time which the person starts to recover mentally and physically.
Most alcoholics will go to AA meetings during this time. This is where they can go and meet other
alcoholics just like them.
Effects on the Body
Alcohol also effects the kidneys, another major internal organ. When drinking alcohol urination
increases due to changes in the hormone aldosterone. This is what regulates water in the body. So it is

43. Summary Of The Short Story The Falling Girl,TheyRe Not...
Society in a Nutshell
Beauty is determined by society and their standards. Women are told to be skinny, pretty and a size
two which puts a lot of pressure on women. The pressures of society allocate women to go through
extreme measures to fit in with society standards. This is evident in the short story The Falling girl and
They re Not Your Husband as the main characters are impacted by social expectations, insecurity and
peer pressure.
Social expectations is a significant component in people s lives, to the point where people become
obsessive over materialistic aspects in life. This creates normality for individuals and essentially tell
individuals how they should behave. There are different social expectations that are created for the
upper class and the lower class, otherwise known as social status. The two characters Marta from The
Falling Girl and Earl from They re Not Your Husband undergo challenges that they face regarding
social expectations and social status, which in turn shows the similarities between the two short
stories. Marta from The Falling Girl was influenced by the materialistic aspects in life that she failed
to realize she had so much time to grow up and opportunities in life, but was blinded by society
standards. Marta was identified as someone of lower class, she had dreams and ambitions of being a
part of an elite society. Despite all her aspirations in life, she knew that she would never obtain this
lifestyle, which ultimately lead downfall as she wanted to be apart of society. In Buzzati words, Within
it were powerful men, and women who were even more powerful ... Seeing these things, Marta
hopelessly leaned out over the railing and let herself go (Buzzati 1). The passage in the short story
demonstrates how influenced Marta was by the different societal classes around her, that she was
inclined to fall off the skyscraper to become a part of society and to ultimately fit in with society. She
abandoned everything she had behind to become entertainment to the higher society. In addition, the
short story They re Not Your Husband the main protagonist Earl Ober is consumed by the society s
standards, which ultimately destroys his relationship with his wife due to the two
