This document provides criteria and guidance for an assignment on postmodern art. It includes four criteria: knowledge of postmodern art concepts and terminology; creative thinking; constructing meaning related to postmodern views; and transferring it to new contexts. Key concepts defined include culture, context, and infographics. Students are instructed to choose two artists from a list that are from different contexts, establish cultural and visual connections between their works, and create two infographics - one on the cultural context and one comparing the visual relations between the artists' works. Resources and the formatting for citations are also provided.

2. Criteria
 Criteria A Knowing and Understanding: Demonstrate
knowledge and understanding of the postmodern
art, including concepts, processes, and the use of
site-specific terminology.
 Criteria C Thinking Creatively: Demonstrate a range
and depth of creative-thinking behaviors.
 Criteria D Responding: Construct meaning related to
the postmodern views and transfer it to new
settings.

 Culture:
“The concept of culture I espouse. . . is essentially a
semiotic one. Believing, with Max Weber, that man is
an animal suspended in webs of significance he himself
has spun, I take culture to be those webs, and the
analysis of it to be therefore not an experimental
science in search of law but an interpretative one in
search of meaning.”

 Context:
The facts or circumstances that surround an event or
situation. Contexts that might have a social, political,
religious or economic focus.

5. Key Concepts
 Infography:
An information graphic (infographic) is a visual
representation of a data set or instructive material. An
infographic takes a large amount of information in text
or numerical form and then condenses it into a
combination of images and text, allowing viewers to
quickly grasp the essential insights the data contains.
Infographics are not a product of the Web, but the
Internet has helped popularize their use as a content
medium.

9. Exercise
 According to the key concepts, choose two artist from
the list and establish cultural or contextual connections
between them (like period, social, economical or political
circumstances…).
 Establish visual connections regarding to theirs art works
(like use of color, compositions, media or techniques…).
Use many art pieces to make the relation.
 Build up two infographies or mind maps, one regarding to
context and the other to the relation with theirs art work,
giving more visual elements that text.

 It must be the corresponding citation per each
source, according to APA system (even the images).

11. Bonus track
 There must be an accompanying text with the
conclusions of the exam (exactly 300 words).
 The conclusions and the infographies must be send
