The Downfall Of The Wellington Sevens
The Downfall of the Wellington Sevens
How does the sevens fail to bring people together.
The Wellington sevens is one of 10 tournaments in 10 different countries in the sevens world circuit.
From the first tournament in 2000, to the 2014 tournament, the Wellington sevens was the
blockbusting event of the Kiwi summer. The tournaments tickets were sold out in minutes, and
Westpac Stadium, which can hold up to 38,000 people, was packed to the rafters. Just as so many
other events are synonymous with their city: Monaco Grand Prix, Indianapolis 500 or Bathurst 1000.
For the Wellington Sevens, it had been the place to be seen and a focal point for the summer. However
ever since the 2014 tournament, where about 270 sevens goers were kicked out ... Show more content

I think the [NRL Auckland] Nines killed a lot of it, plus the prices were less than $100 the first year,
then it got up to $200 which would ve put a few people off. Food prices and the fun police killed it
too. Rush also argues that perhaps a change of venue will breathe some much needed life and
excitement into the venue. He urged the organisers of the event to assess whether the capital was the
best place to host the New Zealand leg of the circuit. As it stands, Wellington has signed on to host the
New Zealand leg of the World Series for two more years. It s a very bad look. There s no magic
solution and you gotta feel for the rugby union because we are a rugby country, We re one of the top
nations in the world in all forms of the game and to have our tournament as one of the worst, probably,
on the circuit, she s not a good look. Rush thinks that perhaps taking it away from New Zealand or at
least Wellington will help people realise what they are missing, and realise how great the tournament
has been to have in Wellington in the past. The fact that the tournament used to be so popular, and has
shown a sudden decline in popularity is a big factor as to why the tournament struggles to bring
people together. What was once one of the highlights of the sevens circuit has become somewhat of a
non event. Many used to come together and meet at the Wellington Sevens, large crowds and a great
atmosphere would help bring people a lot closer,

An Reflection Based On The Ideal Of Worship As Empowerment
Worship in the African American Expression _ Worship as Empowerment
This reflection based on the ideal of Worship as Empowerment. We shall explore the contemporary
side of African American Christian adoration. Which, begins with the religious heritage the African
slaves transported with them on their journey to the New World. Next, let us investigate the religious
studies of African American worship, with a focus on its characteristics, empowerment, and elements.
Heritage of African American Religious
The Africans brought immeasurable religious beliefs and practices to America. Their beliefs included
a superior, compassionate God, which generated the universe and was its definitive Provider. The
Devine intervention of religious philosophies and practices began for the African prior to their capture
and survival, of the sea journey, embarking of slave ships from West Africa to the West Indies, and the
consequences of slavery. The Africans incline to view existence holistically; the nonspiritual and the
holy are mutually undivided realities that exist in aggressive tension but interconnected occurrences.
Slaves embraced this understanding of life, resulting in worship with no constraint to place nor time.
Some scholars such as E. Franklin Frazier, contends that slavery in the United States expunged all the
religious traditions of the slaves. Conversely, others, including Melville Herskovits, which challenges
residuals, existences, and Africanisms, are still

The Role Of Women During The Era Of Tang Dynasty Of Chos ĹŽ N
The role of women has undergone numerous changes throughout the ages in South Korea, the most
palpable being those of 20th century due to industrialization. This essay aims to compare the role of
women nowadays with that of Confucian Chosŏn Dynasty and to explain how recent socio economic
changes influenced the development towards the current stratum of urban middle class housewives.
Also, it seeks to explain the stigma behind the development of this new layer of society.
Confucian Norms in Chosŏn Korea and Role of Women
The era of Yi dynasty of Chosŏn Korea (1392 1910) brought many changes to the social system. In the
aftermath of Hideyoshi invasions, Koreans found the traditional Confucian social norms destroyed and

This shows an extreme example of a woman who does not consider herself virtuous anymore after
being touched by a man other than her husband.
Yangban or the ruling class seemed to be following the Confucian codes of conduct more closely than
other classes. Yangban families were usually landowners; therefore yangban women would not usually
be engaged in any work outside of home. However, new Neo Confucian ideology demanded that
women stay confined at home, abiding by the adage men outside, women inside . Seclusion of female
line to women s chambers, referred to as anpang, enunciated further deepening of segregation of the
genders. Anpang, or the inner rooms of the house, were well hid from the sight from the street and
public.
The yangban status was fundamentally family oriented and the main purpose of a wife in family was
that of reproduction and serving the patrilineal family line. According to Confucian philosophy, three
obediences were required from a virtuous woman: to her father as a daughter, to her husband during
marriage and to her son once she reached old age. After marriage, women had to move to their in laws
houses and were not allowed activity outside home. Due to that, they fully engaged into their role of
wives and mothers. In order to fulfill this role, they had to be skilled in household management,
conducting ancestral rites and others. These were contained in several educational works, namely

African American Music Culture
African American Music Culture Jakiella James African American gospel music is a major influence
in nearly all genres of modern popular music, from rhythm n blues to jazz, from soul to rock n roll.
The musical genre is a unique expression of the black experience in America? The emotionally
charged, wailing vocals and syncopated rhythms give the music a distinctive style. The singing is
accompanied not only by instrumentals, but often also by hand clapping, foot stomping and shouting.
Gospel music is rooted in slave spirituals and protestant hymns. During the late 1800s, the music
spread in popularity among white Christians through the traveling revivals led by Evangelist Dwight
Moody. The music took root in the black ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As in traditional African cultures and as the ancestors that endured slavery had done, African
Americans used music to communicate, synchronize, summon courage and assuage pain and
adversity. That uniquely African style of singing with emotion, power and rhythm was evident through
the field hollerers, work songs, spirituals, gospels and blues. Then the rhythm and blues artists and the
soul artists provided a rich resource for the succeeding style of music called funk . And these artists
drove it home to an ever widening audience. This was also the time when other artists were delivering
songs with philosophical and social messages. The emphasis of this paper will be on the music called
funk and its impact on the American culture. Students will be engaged in actively listening to and
discussing a variety of artists to evaluate their effect on the music s direction, impact and audience. At
the turn of the nineteenth century, jazz was making its entrance and establishing itself as the music of
the future with icons such as Buck Clayton, Sidney Bichet, Louis Armstrong, Lil Hardin, King Joe
Oliver and Jelly Roll Morton. They were followed by Scott Joplin, Fletcher Henderson, Noble Sissle,
Louis Jordan, Duke Ellington, Count Basie and others. While jazz was riding a crest, there was
another style of African American music with a

Revolving Door Law Case Summary
In the given situation, EDA has contracted WEA during the design phase of the expansion of these
transportation facilities. WEA was the general contractor and decided to hire R F as a subcontractor
for specific duties during the design phase. The issue begins in the construction phase, if EDA were to
contract Savmor. Unlike other bidders, Savmore would hire R F as a sub consultant. This was seen as
unfair to other bidders for the project because R F was already a sub consultant during the design
phase. This may cause a conflict of interest. Given this text, we believe R F should not be precluded
from working for Savmore or any other contractors. However, this can only be the case under certain
conditions. One condition that is required for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ultimately, the motivation behind the Revolving Door Law and similar laws is to prevent a company
from receiving compensation twice for the same work. So, it is important to determine, whenever a
company contributes work, what matters the company participated in by doing said work. Deciding
that a company s work constitutes participation in one matter does not necessarily mean that that same
work does not constitute participation in a different matter. Participating in one matter could also
constitute participation in another matter if the company s work in the first matter is heavily used in
the second matter: for instance if the second matter involved assessing or analyzing the work of the
first matter. This is portrayed in the Texas Ethics Commission Advisory Opinion 523. According to
Texas s Ethics Commission, they do not prohibit a former employee of the Texas Department of
Transportation from performing services related to a bridge replacement project...unless the services
would include a review or analysis of a matter in which the former employee participated as an
employee of the agency (1). As long as the work has no ties and similarities to the earlier work, R F
should be allowed to work according to the TEC. Since R F is not even the primary contractor, as they
are serving as a subcontractor for Savmore, there should be even more lenience applicable to their

Oxford Industries Case
IT Governance at Oxford Industries: Case Evaluation Oxford Industries was originally founded in
1942, from their inception to now, the company has undergone a huge transformation; migrating from
domestic manufacturing roots towards a focus on designing, sourcing and marketing apparel products
bearing prominent trademarks. Today Oxford Industries is an international apparel company that
features a diverse portfolio of owned and licensed lifestyle brands, company owned retail operations,
and a collection of private label apparel businesses. About 60% of their revenue comes from their
private label business, which on one side relieves the company of any marketing and distribution
activity, but on the other subtracts control of the product marketing and distribution and leaves the
company dependent on its customers. Oxford has made remarkable strives in acquiring other retailers
such as: Tommy Bahamas, Ben Sherman and Lanier Clothing and more to help with their growth. The
acquirement of these unique brands has launched Oxford Industries to a reputable brand level focused
on modern luxury lifestyle clothing that targets the affluent 35 years and older men and women who
embrace a relaxed and casual approach to luxe daily living. Oxford obviously believes that growth
through acquisition is faster, less expensive, and a much less risky scheme than the traditional
methods of growth through increased market share and sales. Although these acquisitions have proven

A Positive Parent And Child Relationship
A positive parent and child relationship is the main foundation for children s knowledge. With parents
and their sensitive, responsive, and predictable caring towards young children, it helps develop
children s skills they need to succeed in their lifetime. Likewise early parent child relationships have
powerful effects on children s emotional well being. Through these exchanges children learn skills
they need to engage with other children as well as adapt in different types of environments. Children
eventually learn how to manage their emotions, and behaviors in addition they establish healthy
relationships with adults and peers. This would eventually lead children to learn how to adjust to new
situations and to resolve conflicts. When parents have warm, trusting, and reliable relationships with
peers as well as their families, community members, and service providers, they are more likely to
have positive relationships with their children. To work towards Positive Parent Child Relationships
Outcome, social providers and programs can provide emotional and concrete support to parents, as
well as respecting diverse parenting styles, value cultural differences and home languages it helps
reinforce the importance of fathers and other co parents. By Parents connecting and socializing with
other parents as well as community members it could help parents demonstrate to them the types of
relationship that are out there and what should be the appropriate type of

Fleclosure Research Paper
Closure can be defined as a way of coming to terms with something that has happened. A certain
something that can be seen as torturous, taunting, and sometimes even deadly. As a therapist, I have
patients every day who are in search of anything that comes close to healing their wounds. Even
though it may seem simple to someone looking at the situation from the outside, it is the complete
opposite for a victim on the inside. Recently, I had a patient who has altered my whole mindset on
closure and how valuable life can be. Names will not be provided. She suffered the traumatic
experience of being raped and watching her husband be murdered right in front of her. Not only does
she live to tell the story, she lived to go through the trauma of it afterwards. The impact this situation
had on her life has altered every single point of view she has. When she came to me, all she wanted
was a way to get through it all. She kept asking me to give her an estimated time of how long it will
take her to recover from the pain and suffering. I always answered with You need to find closure.

Addressing a huge gathering of Serbs assembled on the site of the battle of Kosovo Polje, where an
Ottoman army inflicted a crushing defeat on Serbian forces 600 years earlier, he launched a campaign
to restore Serbian greatness that resulted in the break up of Yugoslavia, amid the worst atrocities and
violations of human rights since the end of the Second World War. While the formidable Serb led
Yugoslav army was used against Croats too, the worst excesses and amp;#8220;ethnic cleansing ; took
place against the Bosnians, and later the Kosovars, both of them Muslims.
What effects the Balkan region is its blood soaked history, an ethnic jigsaw puzzle and, currently the
amp;#8220;Mad Serb Disease. ; Like the Bosnian tragedy, Kosovo amp;#8217;s misfortune results
equally from the dominant powers letting expediency rather than ethnicity determine the Balkan
borders. Like the Bosnian muslims, Kosovar Albanians were lumped into the artificial Serb dominated
state called Yugoslavia amp;#8211; even though ethinicity, religion and geography bound them to
Albania.
Thus, Kosovo has been a pawn in the hands of the powers that mindlessly drew and re drew the
Balkan map. Despite being 90 per cent Albanian, Kosovo is seen by the Serbs as the cradle of
civilization. Its north and east have sites of religious and historical significance to them. Hence the

How Did The Civil War Affect The Rights Of African...
The Civil War was an important and defining event in history which helped shape and unite
Americans, however, it mostly aided African Americans and women. It influenced many events that
took place later in history such as bringing the nation together, paving the way for an industrialized
nation, but most importantly, in my opinion, it started the journey of equality for blacks as well as
women. The Civil War was a war between the Northern and Southern states; and I believe one of the
biggest reasons leading to it was the opposing views against slavery. Although, the Emancipation
Proclamation freed slaves, blacks were still not considered equals and continued to be ill treated and
discriminated against. In my opinion this continued to take place, because the South just as many
other individuals in the North did not support or intend to end slavery, but were ... Show more content

Even though many were scared and lost in this new phase of freedom, some were encouraged and
courageous enough to stand up for their beliefs such as Fredrick Douglass, Nelson Mandela, Rosa
Parks, and Martin Luther King. Some of these individuals lived in different periods throughout
history; though they continued to contest the equality of men and tried to improve the conditions and
rights of blacks, because like many I believe that the equality of the colored individual has never
really completely transpired. For this reason I state that the civil war was the start and helped pave the
way for the journey of equality of African Americans, because till this day we still see discrimination,
ill treatment and inequality of blacks. In my opinion, employers will still hire an Anglo before hiring
an African American, even emergency rooms will provide better treatment to a white than and African
American. One great example is the recent

Harold And Maude Psychology Essay
Focusing on a twenty year old obsessed with death and suicide who falls in love with an eccentric
almost eighty year old woman, Harold and Maude is a somewhat unconventional romantic comedy
widely regarded as a cult classic. This movie s use of suicide and other sensationalized ideas from
Psychology is jarring to say the least, but its Psychological principles are not limited to those. There
are many everyday aspects of Psychology immortalized through this film that would hardly make one
bat an eye. In the movie, twenty year old Harold lives, mostly, with his mother. During the time he is
not living with his mother, he is faking suicide for her attention, bringing home a hearse as his first

psychology, and it is known as a Type B personality.
Type B personalities are known for being easygoing and relaxed, as well as less prone to stress in
uncomfortable situations (Myers 402). This leads to them being less angry overall, as well as generally
optimistic. This, as well, leads to less frustration, and less aggression (Myers 403). This is extremely
noticeable in the case of Maude.
Maude lives extremely freely, and so the Type B label works extremely well with her. Her living in her
own, calmly determined way allows her to live a relatively stress free existence. This allows her to
experience many different things in her life and still smile brightly and attempt to help Harold see
things her way as well. By the end of the movie, Harold seems to have adopted a perspective that

The high percentages of workload vs. those lectures in college are proved to endorse greater amounts

Belgian Congo vs. Holocaust
The atrocities of the Belgian Congo and the Holocaust are two of the main events in history that have
been responsible for the mass murdering of millions of people. Although these events significantly
changed the course of humanity, and the story behind each one is very different, there are significant
factors that make them alike as well as different. Many would agree that comparing two atrocities that
affected the lives of so many people and gave a 180 degree turn to each of their countries would be
something very difficult to achieve. However, by comparing the behavior of both the perpetrators and
the victims of both cases we might be able to further understand the lack of morality and the
inspiration that led to these awful events. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This allowed several years of massacre. However, eventually the number of Nazis running
concentration camps diminished, as they needed manpower fighting the war. This is further explained
in The Drowned and the Saved , The Nazism of the final years could not do without these external
auxiliaries, determined as it was to maintain its order within subjugated Europe and feed the front
lines of the war, bled white by their opponents growing military resistance. (Levi pg.42) This
weakening in their system allowed for the Holocaust to end and liberate the Jews from the occupied
Europe. This began the process of the creation of the state of Israel, where the Jews could find refuge.
This gave them a process of healing and allowed them to rebuild the Jewish community. The set of
events for the Belgian Congo was not similar in any way. The ivory company, which exported ivory to
Belgium and the rest of Europe leaded by King Leopold of Belgium, was the responsible for the
atrocities committed in Congo during the 1880 s.
Another key factor that differentiates these cases is the aftermath of the atrocities, and how the
Holocaust was able to utilize the Nuremberg Trials as the first step in achieving justice. In the Belgian
Congo atrocities, Belgium slowly deleted history and refused to take responsibility. In Heart of
Darkness we can find the lack of justice at the very end of the book when Charles

Achilles Analysis
Hector is standing outside of Troy as the only Trojan left. Hector is too ashamed to join the other
Trojans in their retreat because of his previous orders for them to camp outside although Priam begs
him to come inside. Hector stood firm as Achilles approached him and Hector knows that Achilles has
come to fight by the evil look in Achilles eyes. Hector is willing to fight and will not go down without
putting up a fight for his home. Hector at first tries to negotiate with the great warrior, Achilles,

And ran, leaving the gates behind, with Achilles on his tail, confident in his speed. You have seen a
falcon in a long smooth dive, attacking a fluttering dove, far below in the hills. The falcon screams,
swoops, and plunges in its lust for prey, so Achilles swooped and Hector trembled in the shadow of
Troy s wall. (156 167). This simile is about the chase between Hector and Achilles. Homer uses this
simile brilliantly whereas he compares Achilles the great warrior to the ruthless bird, falcon, which
will get its prey. Homer compares this chase to a predator prey situation, just like a falcon and a dove,
eventually, the predator will catch up to its prey and attack. Just like Achilles will eventually do when
he catches his prey, Hector. Zeus debates whether he should save Hector or not but the goddess Athena
persuades Zeus to let be because Hector s time has come. Achilles knows the weak points of the armor
that Hector is armed with and thrusts his spear through Hector s throat. While Hector is nearing his
death, he pleads with Achilles so that his body can be sent back to the Trojans for a proper burial. Just
like how the falcon leaves its prey after devouring what it wants, the falcon leaves the body left to rot,
as what Achilles did with Hector where he let the dogs and birds maul at the dead body. Achilles then
tied Hector s body to the back of his chariot and drags it around through the dirt

summon the boys together after the crash. This scene has great importance to the plot of the story
considering it was the first time the boys held a meeting and discussed their situation. They came up
with a system that would eliminate chaos. For example, in their very first meeting, they voted on a
chief, choosing Ralph over Jack because he was the one with the conch. This proves that the boys
seem to think that power, responsibility, and leadership skills come from the conch. In reference

Pretty In Pink Movie
You couldn t buy her, though, that s what s killing you, isn t it? That s it, Steff. She thinks you re shit.
And deep down, you know she s right. When you watch Pretty In Pink by John Hughes a comedy,
romance, and drama film taking place in the 80 s, where there are heartbreaks and reconciliations. The
screenplay for the 1986 movie was written by John Hughes and directed by Howard Deutch. A
teenager Andie Walsh, Molly Ringwald, must choose between her childhood sweetheart Duckie, Jon
Cryer, and a rich boy Blane McDonnagh, Andrew McCarthy. The film Pretty In Pink won the BMI
Film Music Award in 1987 a year after the movie was released.
Andie is a high school senior that has only a father because her mom abandoned them. Andie is a very
talented girl because she makes her own designs of clothes. She has two friends whom she hangs

Spader makes a huge impact on the movie because in the movie he is Andrew McCarthy s friend and
tells him that he cannot be Andie s boyfriend. The actor Jon Cryer does a great job of being Andie s
friend and nothing else but her friend. In the movie, Jon Cryer fails his classes to spend time with
Andie, waits for her to come out of a club which he cannot go in, defends her when he hears Stef
talking to Blane, and sings a song for her. Jon Cryer has his moments and his jokes in the movie like
in Two In A Half Men. Andrew McCarthy and Molly Ringwald had to be in a relationship because
they come from two completely different worlds but they show that nothing is more important than
love. McCarthy and Ringwald show exactly the acting on the movie about how teenagers react to love
and how they react to breakups. Duckie was very convincing with his acting by showing his emotions

To counter soldiering and to improve efficiency, Taylor began to conduct experiments to determine the
best level of performance for certain jobs, and what was necessary to achieve this performance.
Time Studies Taylor argued that even the most basic, mindless tasks could be planned in a way that
dramatically would increase productivity, and that scientific management of the work was more
effective than the initiative and incentive method of motivating workers. The initiative and incentive
method offered an incentive to increase productivity but placed the responsibility on the worker to
figure out how to do it. To scientifically determine the optimal way to perform a job, Taylor performed
experiments that he called time studies, (also known as time and motion studies). These studies were
characterized by the use of a stopwatch to time a worker s sequence of motions, with the goal of
determining the one best way to perform a job. The following are examples of some of the time and
motion studies that were performed by Taylor and others in the era of scientific management.
Pig Iron If workers were moving 12 1/2 tons of pig iron per day and they could be incentivized to try
to move 47 1/2 tons per day, left to their own wits they probably would become exhausted after a few

Essay about The Reasons Hitler Became Chancellor
The Reasons Hitler Became Chancellor
After over ten years of trying, in 1933 Hitler and the Nazis had almost fulfilled their goal to hold all
power in Germany. The Nazis were by far the most powerful party in the Reichstag holding the most
seats, and Hitler being made Chancellor, but it wasn t that simple, in fact it was very complicated.
There were several big contributors to Hitler becoming Chancellor.
The Great Depression, one the worst times for Germany, and countries across the world. Germany was
the worst hit country because America had to recall it s big loans it had given Germany as they could

This gave the Nazis ideas to base their propaganda around the Weimar s weaknesses, which proved to
be very popular with the working class and unemployed.
The Nazi tactics was one of their strong points that proved to become very successful, although they
had a very radical change after the Munich Putsch. Hitler decided they were going to win fair and
square through voting instead of using force. Their main tactic was to end democracy and have one
strong dictator, Hitler. They had tried democracy and it had failed. They may have gone from using
force to voting into power, but that still used intimidation to put fear into people to scare people into
supporting the Nazis, they acted like bullies. They tried to cause as much chaos as possible without
making it obvious it was them because chaos caused democracy to fail. The Nazis tactics were to try
and make it as obvious as they could they were carrying out their propaganda to try and deceive
people they were honest and true, and won more votes through this. Hitler was dedicated to careful
planning of his tactics to make sure everything would work, so the more power the Nazis had, the
more chance Hitler stood becoming Chancellor and one step closer to ruling Germany.
The Nazi ideas were often fanatical and eccentric, usually affecting a lot of people. The strongest idea

Similarities Between Redon And David Hockney
Artists often use their personal perceptions as a stimulus for their artwork. They are able to use their
work to express a certain viewpoint they may have on a subject. Well renowned artists, Odilon Redon
and David Hockney have both manipulated their artistic abilities to express their perceptions through
their work with their art movements. Redon is a renowned 18th 19th century French symbolist artist
whose works revolve around his dreams, fantasy and imagination, The Cyclops (1914), being one of
his most recognised paintings. David Hockney is a painter and photographer and is considered one of
the most influential British artists of the 20th century, a prime example of his work being, A Bigger
Splash (1966.) Both artworks reflect the artist s personal perceptions and contain similarities and
differences with their movements, intentions and use of stylistic features.
At the beginning of his career, Redon s works were exclusively in black and white in lithographic
prints and charcoal. His works consisted of a monochromatic colour scheme representing symbolism
in his unusual dreamlike creations, called noirs. In an interview, Redon stated that his noirs are his
most personal expressions. These works were a product of his creative imagination of depictions of
his knowledge and perception on evolution theories, presented by Charles Darwin at the time. The
noirs were also a reflection on his pessimism and melancholy, particularly as a child, and a
representation of how he views the world. Contradictory to his early works, Redon transfigured into
non naturalistic colour themed pastels and oil paintings. Many of these oeuvres were abstract,
generally constructed of an ethereal chromatic background with a focal subject and an overall hazy
appeal.
The Cyclops is a versatile example of Redon s work as it is an oil painting with noir themes. The
artwork illustrates a mountain and rocky landscape, with a Cyclops creature emerging from behind the
tall mountain in the background of the scenario. Slightly off centre to the right there is a naked woman
who appears to be sleeping peacefully amongst the abstract plantation on the hill. The focal point of
the painting is the cyclops, and its large eye that is

Karl Popper The Enemy Of Certainty Analysis
In the three part informative bibliography Karl Popper, the enemy of certainty, published by The
Guardian, scientist and philosopher Karl Popper s perspective on science is identified and discussed.
Author Liz Williams describes how Karl Popper was driven by a passion for learning and
understanding the world around him, and eventually grew to reject the ideas of empiricism and
positivism. Popper states that deductive reasoning, rather than inductive reasoning, should be used to
evaluate a theory based on the idea that proving a theory false provides a stronger argument compared
to proving a theory true. Popper also argues that theories cannot be considered scientific theories
unless they are able to be proven false, or are falsifiable. They must be able to be tested, and have the
ability to be proven false through those tests, before it can be considered a scientific theory. Popper
argues that scientific revolutions come about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Popper s scientific philosophy was solely based on truth, based on the idea that new scientific theories
are generated when old scientific theories are proven to be false; he states that in order for a theory to
be scientific, it must be falsifiable. On the other hand, Kuhn s philosophy was based on thought, and
how scientist s collective thoughts and theories change as concepts and practices change with time.
These two individuals have directly opposing philosophies truth versus thought. Finally, Lakatos
scientific philosophy acts as a happy medium between the two, describing science and scientific
revolutions as both truth and thought, although he did emphasize that truth may be a more reliable
factor. Whether it be truth, or thought, or both behind the changes in science over time, it does not

Ethics And The Code Of Ethics In Schools
Ethics in School
Meaning
Ethics is a science that deals with the ideals involved in human conduct. In other words, it is the rules
or standards, governing the conduct of a person or the conduct of the members in a profession. It
relates to the social rules that influence a person to be honest while dealing with other people. The
word ethics is originated from a Greek word Ethos which means character or manner.
Introduction
Ethics are concerned with the moral actions of human beings. We can see the practice of ethics in
almost every profession. In schools, ethics applies to the management board, administration, teachers
and most importantly students. For each entity, a code of ethics is created either from within the
educational institution, through professional organizations or by both. Here the code of ethics provides
ethical standards that people associated with the school, as discussed above, are expected to follow in
conjunction with each other as laid by the decision making bodies. In India, the code of professional

Chicano Art
Chicano Art and Indigenismo
Artworks have played an indelible work to the lives of humanity. The creative nature in Artists is a
complex matter to define. The uncertainties in the intrinsic nature in art lay difficult aspects that can

Theories Of Learning Behavior Theories
There are over 100 theories of learning behaviour that can be applied to behaviour in the classroom. In
the field of education, research has shown that teachers spend as much time engaged in classroom
behaviour management as they do teaching, therefore, this shows the importance of learning
behaviour theories. Firstly, what is learning? Learning can be defined as developing newly learnt
skills, new knowledge and understanding concepts. We recognise learning as there is a better
understanding or a change in behaviour. It is essential to comprehend that learning associates different
understandings to many people and is used accordingly in various theories. This essay is divided into
three parts: first, addressing the definition of behaviour, secondly, the explanation of a Learning
Theory (Behaviourism) and lastly this paper will look at the classical and operant conditioning theory
illustrating how these environmental concepts affects children s learning in the classroom. Bulotsky
Shearer et al., (2012) mentioned that children who have difficulty regulating their emotions, paying
attention, initiating peer interactions and sustaining engagement in learning tasks are at risk for
learning difficulties. This essay will demonstrate how the above mentioned behaviours can cause
learning difficulties in children in the classroom. The Oxford Dictionary defines behaviour as the way

Anxiety In Italo Calvino s The Nonexistent Knight
Reflective statement. During our discussion, many aspects of Agilulf s personality were brought up.
This caused me to think more deeply on his character. The things I realized made me compare him to

his problems communicating. Title: Depression and anxiety in Italo Calvino s The Nonexistent Knight
In Italo Calvino s The Nonexistent Knight the main character, Agilulf, is a disembodied knight in

His dificulties seem to stem from his self conciousness about his lack of a corporeal body, which
many knights often bring up in attempts to discredit him and when joking about him. Selfconciousnes
often coincides with social anxiety, either being the cause of the anxiety or the result. He also seems to
be more confident in himself before Charlemagne cuts him off for his name being too long winded
and tells him that he will never remember it. This could be the incident that set off Agilulf s anxiety
and depression, along with his unwillingness to start conversations. Often times sufferers of social
anxiety have a defining moment in their childhoods or adolescence which shuts them off from the
world, making them distrusting of others and unable to confidently speak with others, although this is
not always the case. While this may not be the cause of Agilulf s inability to communicate, it could

Spain, is a strong company in a weak home market. Although many opportunities exist for expansion,
the strongest plan for the company to embark on is an aggressive expansion of its business in the
United States. This project will give Damm access to a large consumer base with minimal risk due to
previous conservative investments in the region.
Situation Analysis Grupo Damm s current situation is the third largest beer company in Spain. It is a
large player in a market dominated by two other beer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Basis for Recommendation 1. The Spanish beer market is contracting, and trying to win a larger piece
of a smaller pie will prove very costly (Appendix 2). As the Spanish recession continues, revenue will
decline as less beer is consumed and margins will shrink as consumers buy beer in supermarkets,
significantly constraining Damm s profits (Appendix 3). 2. Damm has already entered the U.S. market
via a 17% acquisition of U.S. Beverage, a specialty distributor that works mainly with premium
imports (Peet). U.S. Beverage has had a successful track record with imports in the past, and this
partnership will allow Grupo Damm to circumvent the process of having to find a reliable importer
and distributor. 3. The U.S. beer market has been growing, and more specifically, the imported
premium beer segment has been growing within the overall market (Appendix 4). Although other
markets have been shown to be growing at a higher rate (Group 6, Slide 5), the U.S. market is several
times larger at over 208 million barrels sold per year (Jones).
Financial Impact of the Recommendation Under a conservative analysis of the project, an expansion
plan in America will have a net present value of over $350 million for Grupo Damm (Appendix 5).
This project requires minimal capital expenditures because U.S. Beverage has already put much of the
groundwork in place. The main expenses Grupo Damm will face under

Thick Description Analysis
Joelle Moussi
ANTH 101A
Quiz Section F
Reading Response #1
A thick description is a meaningful description of an action not only the simple, physical process of
the action but also the significance, intention, and context behind that action. Analyzing culture
through thick descriptions allows us to go beyond simple observations and understand why people do
what they do, so that a cultural status quo can become more familiar to us. Clifford Geertz suggests
that the concept of culture... is essentially a semiotic one (Geertz, 5), which means that culture is a
shared, public system of meanings and symbols. Thus, in order to have an adequate study of culture so
that we can better interact with others, we must analyze the signs and symbols used by a culture to
gain meaning within that culture. With this in mind, Geertz uses the concept of thick ... Show more

With this in mind, Geertz goes on to suggest that cultural anthropology is not an experimental science
in search of law but an interpretive one in search of meaning (Geertz, 5). Since anthropology is a
symbolic endeavor, creating thick descriptions is thought of as an interpretive study, especially
considering that we must ourselves actually infer all of the symbolic implications around us. In other
words, raw observational data collected by an ethnographer is not useful in trying to understand a
culture; the ethnographer must take the raw data and interpret that data into what he thinks is really
going on. According to Geertz, cultural analysis and interpretation is most effective when we [guess]
at meanings, [assess] the guesses, and [draw] explanatory conclusions from the better guesses (Geertz,
20). This way of analyzing data is what makes cultural anthropology interpretive, since we are making
them using our own insight in a qualitative

Media and Technology Representation
The movie Where Do We Go Now? by Nadine Labaki had won lots of awards in the Cannes Film
Festival (Fares 2). The movie was thought provoking and simply beautiful. The movie was about war
torn villages wherein Christians and Muslims are having personal conflicts and are plaguing the whole
village at large. The conflict had mixed effect in the whole habitants of the village and the women on
the movie are trying to keep off men from each other s throat. The movie was all about the coexistence
of Lebanese Muslim and Christians living in one community. The issue was felt by everyone as it was
overtly done. The movie had shown the struggles face by the people in their diverse community. The
village was very quiet and far from the noises of the outside world. With only one bridge that connects
the place to the outside world, the whole village was very much ancient and considered as very
rudimentary. Because it was offset from the outside world, media and technology was slow and almost
non effective. Television reception was very weak and signal was very poor. The movie had started
with young children seeking for a broadcast signal because the town folks have already settled to
watch the night shows. However, since the signal reception was bad, the people felt very
uncomfortable with the television. The whole community had been divided into Christians and
Muslim and their churches are just a house apart. Because of the set up, there are times that people are
not happy living with

  • 2. The Downfall Of The Wellington Sevens The Downfall of the Wellington Sevens How does the sevens fail to bring people together. The Wellington sevens is one of 10 tournaments in 10 different countries in the sevens world circuit. From the first tournament in 2000, to the 2014 tournament, the Wellington sevens was the blockbusting event of the Kiwi summer. The tournaments tickets were sold out in minutes, and Westpac Stadium, which can hold up to 38,000 people, was packed to the rafters. Just as so many other events are synonymous with their city: Monaco Grand Prix, Indianapolis 500 or Bathurst 1000. For the Wellington Sevens, it had been the place to be seen and a focal point for the summer. However ever since the 2014 tournament, where about 270 sevens goers were kicked out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I think the [NRL Auckland] Nines killed a lot of it, plus the prices were less than $100 the first year, then it got up to $200 which would ve put a few people off. Food prices and the fun police killed it too. Rush also argues that perhaps a change of venue will breathe some much needed life and excitement into the venue. He urged the organisers of the event to assess whether the capital was the best place to host the New Zealand leg of the circuit. As it stands, Wellington has signed on to host the New Zealand leg of the World Series for two more years. It s a very bad look. There s no magic solution and you gotta feel for the rugby union because we are a rugby country, We re one of the top nations in the world in all forms of the game and to have our tournament as one of the worst, probably, on the circuit, she s not a good look. Rush thinks that perhaps taking it away from New Zealand or at least Wellington will help people realise what they are missing, and realise how great the tournament has been to have in Wellington in the past. The fact that the tournament used to be so popular, and has shown a sudden decline in popularity is a big factor as to why the tournament struggles to bring people together. What was once one of the highlights of the sevens circuit has become somewhat of a non event. Many used to come together and meet at the Wellington Sevens, large crowds and a great atmosphere would help bring people a lot closer, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. An Reflection Based On The Ideal Of Worship As Empowerment Worship in the African American Expression _ Worship as Empowerment This reflection based on the ideal of Worship as Empowerment. We shall explore the contemporary side of African American Christian adoration. Which, begins with the religious heritage the African slaves transported with them on their journey to the New World. Next, let us investigate the religious studies of African American worship, with a focus on its characteristics, empowerment, and elements. Heritage of African American Religious The Africans brought immeasurable religious beliefs and practices to America. Their beliefs included a superior, compassionate God, which generated the universe and was its definitive Provider. The Devine intervention of religious philosophies and practices began for the African prior to their capture and survival, of the sea journey, embarking of slave ships from West Africa to the West Indies, and the consequences of slavery. The Africans incline to view existence holistically; the nonspiritual and the holy are mutually undivided realities that exist in aggressive tension but interconnected occurrences. Slaves embraced this understanding of life, resulting in worship with no constraint to place nor time. Some scholars such as E. Franklin Frazier, contends that slavery in the United States expunged all the religious traditions of the slaves. Conversely, others, including Melville Herskovits, which challenges residuals, existences, and Africanisms, are still ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Role Of Women During The Era Of Tang Dynasty Of Chos ĹŽ N The role of women has undergone numerous changes throughout the ages in South Korea, the most palpable being those of 20th century due to industrialization. This essay aims to compare the role of women nowadays with that of Confucian Chosŏn Dynasty and to explain how recent socio economic changes influenced the development towards the current stratum of urban middle class housewives. Also, it seeks to explain the stigma behind the development of this new layer of society. Confucian Norms in Chosŏn Korea and Role of Women The era of Yi dynasty of Chosŏn Korea (1392 1910) brought many changes to the social system. In the aftermath of Hideyoshi invasions, Koreans found the traditional Confucian social norms destroyed and in an urgent need ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This shows an extreme example of a woman who does not consider herself virtuous anymore after being touched by a man other than her husband. Yangban or the ruling class seemed to be following the Confucian codes of conduct more closely than other classes. Yangban families were usually landowners; therefore yangban women would not usually be engaged in any work outside of home. However, new Neo Confucian ideology demanded that women stay confined at home, abiding by the adage men outside, women inside . Seclusion of female line to women s chambers, referred to as anpang, enunciated further deepening of segregation of the genders. Anpang, or the inner rooms of the house, were well hid from the sight from the street and public. The yangban status was fundamentally family oriented and the main purpose of a wife in family was that of reproduction and serving the patrilineal family line. According to Confucian philosophy, three obediences were required from a virtuous woman: to her father as a daughter, to her husband during marriage and to her son once she reached old age. After marriage, women had to move to their in laws houses and were not allowed activity outside home. Due to that, they fully engaged into their role of wives and mothers. African American Music Culture African American Music Culture Jakiella James African American gospel music is a major influence in nearly all genres of modern popular music, from rhythm n blues to jazz, from soul to rock n roll. The musical genre is a unique expression of the black experience in America? The emotionally charged, wailing vocals and syncopated rhythms give the music a distinctive style. The singing is accompanied not only by instrumentals, but often also by hand clapping, foot stomping and shouting. Gospel music is rooted in slave spirituals and protestant hymns. During the late 1800s, the music spread in popularity among white Christians through the traveling revivals led by Evangelist Dwight Moody. The music took root in the black ... As in traditional African cultures and as the ancestors that endured slavery had done, African Americans used music to communicate, synchronize, summon courage and assuage pain and adversity. That uniquely African style of singing with emotion, power and rhythm was evident through the field hollerers, work songs, spirituals, gospels and blues. Then the rhythm and blues artists and the soul artists provided a rich resource for the succeeding style of music called funk . And these artists drove it home to an ever widening audience. This was also the time when other artists were delivering songs with philosophical and social messages. The emphasis of this paper will be on the music called funk and its impact on the American culture. Students will be engaged in actively listening to and discussing a variety of artists to evaluate their effect on the music s direction, impact and audience. At the turn of the nineteenth century, jazz was making its entrance and establishing itself as the music of the future with icons such as Buck Clayton, Sidney Bichet, Louis Armstrong, Lil Hardin, King Joe Oliver and Jelly Roll Morton. WEA was the general contractor and decided to hire R F as a subcontractor for specific duties during the design phase. The issue begins in the construction phase, if EDA were to contract Savmor. Unlike other bidders, Savmore would hire R F as a sub consultant. This was seen as unfair to other bidders for the project because R F was already a sub consultant during the design phase. Ultimately, the motivation behind the Revolving Door Law and similar laws is to prevent a company from receiving compensation twice for the same work. So, it is important to determine, whenever a company contributes work, what matters the company participated in by doing said work. Deciding that a company s work constitutes participation in one matter does not necessarily mean that that same work does not constitute participation in a different matter. Participating in one matter could also constitute participation in another matter if the company s work in the first matter is heavily used in the second matter: for instance if the second matter involved assessing or analyzing the work of the first matter. This is portrayed in the Texas Ethics Commission Advisory Opinion 523. The Civil War was an important and defining event in history which helped shape and unite Americans, however, it mostly aided African Americans and women. It influenced many events that took place later in history such as bringing the nation together, paving the way for an industrialized nation, but most importantly, in my opinion, it started the journey of equality for blacks as well as women. The Civil War was a war between the Northern and Southern states; and I believe one of the biggest reasons leading to it was the opposing views against slavery. The initiative and incentive method offered an incentive to increase productivity but placed the responsibility on the worker to figure out how to do it. • 26. Similarities Between Redon And David Hockney Artists often use their personal perceptions as a stimulus for their artwork. They are able to use their work to express a certain viewpoint they may have on a subject. Well renowned artists, Odilon Redon and David Hockney have both manipulated their artistic abilities to express their perceptions through their work with their art movements. Redon is a renowned 18th 19th century French symbolist artist whose works revolve around his dreams, fantasy and imagination, The Cyclops (1914), being one of his most recognised paintings. David Hockney is a painter and photographer and is considered one of the most influential British artists of the 20th century, a prime example of his work being, A Bigger Splash (1966.) Both artworks reflect the artist s personal perceptions and contain similarities and differences with their movements, intentions and use of stylistic features. At the beginning of his career, Redon s works were exclusively in black and white in lithographic prints and charcoal. His works consisted of a monochromatic colour scheme representing symbolism in his unusual dreamlike creations, called noirs. In an interview, Redon stated that his noirs are his most personal expressions. These works were a product of his creative imagination of depictions of his knowledge and perception on evolution theories, presented by Charles Darwin at the time. The noirs were also a reflection on his pessimism and melancholy, particularly as a child, and a representation of how he views the world. Contradictory to his early works, Redon transfigured into non naturalistic colour themed pastels and oil paintings. Many of these oeuvres were abstract, generally constructed of an ethereal chromatic background with a focal subject and an overall hazy appeal. The Cyclops is a versatile example of Redon s work as it is an oil painting with noir themes. The artwork illustrates a mountain and rocky landscape, with a Cyclops creature emerging from behind the tall mountain in the background of the scenario. Slightly off centre to the right there is a naked woman who appears to be sleeping peacefully amongst the abstract plantation on the hill. The focal point of the painting is the cyclops, and its large eye that is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Karl Popper The Enemy Of Certainty Analysis In the three part informative bibliography Karl Popper, the enemy of certainty, published by The Guardian, scientist and philosopher Karl Popper s perspective on science is identified and discussed. Author Liz Williams describes how Karl Popper was driven by a passion for learning and understanding the world around him, and eventually grew to reject the ideas of empiricism and positivism. Popper states that deductive reasoning, rather than inductive reasoning, should be used to evaluate a theory based on the idea that proving a theory false provides a stronger argument compared to proving a theory true. Popper also argues that theories cannot be considered scientific theories unless they are able to be proven false, or are falsifiable. They must be able to be tested, and have the ability to be proven false through those tests, before it can be considered a scientific theory. Popper argues that scientific revolutions come about ... Damm has already entered the U.S. market via a 17% acquisition of U.S. Beverage, a specialty distributor that works mainly with premium imports (Peet). Thick Description Analysis Joelle Moussi ANTH 101A Quiz Section F Reading Response #1 A thick description is a meaningful description of an action not only the simple, physical process of the action but also the significance, intention, and context behind that action. Analyzing culture through thick descriptions allows us to go beyond simple observations and understand why people do what they do, so that a cultural status quo can become more familiar to us. Clifford Geertz suggests that the concept of culture... is essentially a semiotic one (Geertz, 5), which means that culture is a shared, public system of meanings and symbols. Thus, in order to have an adequate study of culture so that we can better interact with others, we must analyze the signs and symbols used by a culture to gain meaning within that culture. In other words, raw observational data collected by an ethnographer is not useful in trying to understand a culture; the ethnographer must take the raw data and interpret that data into what he thinks is really going on.
