 The practice of creating a name, symbol or design that
identifies & differentiates a product from other products
 The process of creating a unique name & image for a
product in the consumers' mind, mainly through
advertising.
 Branding is the art of aligning what you want people to
think about your company with what people actually do
think about your company.
Time for the Shorter definitions!
 Branding is not push, but pull
 Branding is a constant where as marketing is the
variable. Likewise branding is the fuel, marketing the car
 The perceived emotional image of a company as a
whole.
Reality: Very FEW companies can pull it off!
A strong logo in brand identity is
that a simple visual can instantaneously communicate
a brand AND what it is all about.
Some large brands are able to do this
by symbol only, without words
that is the Holy Grail that brands dream about!!!
Logos are vitally important,
but actually are just one component of
what creates a strong brand.

What is branding

  • 1. Many definitions are floating around!
  • 2. Let us watch a few long definitions first!
  • 3.  The practice of creating a name, symbol or design that identifies & differentiates a product from other products  The process of creating a unique name & image for a product in the consumers' mind, mainly through advertising.  Branding is the art of aligning what you want people to think about your company with what people actually do think about your company.
  • 4. Time for the Shorter definitions!
  • 5.  Branding is not push, but pull  Branding is a constant where as marketing is the variable. Likewise branding is the fuel, marketing the car  The perceived emotional image of a company as a whole.
  • 6. Reality: Very FEW companies can pull it off!
  • 7. A strong logo in brand identity is that a simple visual can instantaneously communicate a brand AND what it is all about.
  • 8. Some large brands are able to do this by symbol only, without words that is the Holy Grail that brands dream about!!!
  • 9. Logos are vitally important, but actually are just one component of what creates a strong brand.
