What have you learnt about technologies from the
     process of constructing this product?
Editing

We have developed our understanding of the
editing process, especially skills and techniques
within Sony Vegas. Specifically, our efficiency in
the editing process has improved through learning
about colour correction and effects applied to the
footage, in order to bring the scenes alive and create
                a mysterious atmosphere.

We have developed our understanding of the flexibility
and vast capabilities of editing software in producing a
Nail-biting atmosphere; the ability to synchronise
the various elements – shots, sound, SFX – brings the
project together and renders the exciting atmosphere
                    we aspired for.

                    Special Effects

Along with the Sony Vegas for editing, we used the
highly recommended Adobe After Effects to add some
motion tracking to the title shots. The capability of this
technology allows us to further develop the fast-paced
feel (through the dynamic animation of the text), and
meant we learnt the extent that technology can create
a professional feel, even with our lack of filming budget.
Music/Sound

We used Garage Band to create the original
soundtrack. Throughout the production of this music,
we developed our understanding of the methods
used to create a tense piece of music – the sounds
and melody used are essential for creating an
atmosphere, we found. We learnt just how simple
and efficient it is to create these sounds using user-
friendly software such as Garage Band.

The sounds we used are mainly electronic, synth-
based sounds. We found that these can be great for
hinting at underlying tension, especially through the
EQ plugin which we noticed creates a muffled and
dormant feel – great for a subtle clue of danger.

Once we had created the soundtrack, we focused on
the sound effects and dialogue effects. We learnt
about how applying reverberation to the antagonist's
dialogue made his speech all the more terrifying and
disturbing. For this effect, we used software called
Ableton Live, which we learnt was great for high-
               quality musical effects.
