How did you use new media
technologies in the construction
and research, planning and
evaluation stages?
How did digital technology enable you to develop creatively
and are there examples of the technology obstructing or
preventing your creativity?
Websites
Technology has without a doubt,
helped us develop creatively in our
film. Firstly, using websites such as
IMBD, Wikipedia, YouTube and
Google allowed us to research into
our chosen genre by looking at
examples of similar films and specific
parts of films such as title sequences.
We were also able to research into
film posters and compare them within
the genre of our choice. We also used
websites with copyright free music to
add sounds and ambiences to our
film. We also used blogger to create
our portfolio which allowed us to tag
our own work all in one place which
was also helpful.
Programs
We also used programs such as Celtx to create scripts for our film. Final Cut Express to edit
our films together and add sound. This allowed us to edit and trim our videos as we wish
to create techniques such as Match on Action. We used GarageBand to create music and
sounds for our film which allowed us to manipulate sound as we wished. along with
Photoshop which allowed us to create effects for our posters and also within our film.
I used PhotoShop to add an effect to our
screen shots to make the 70’s stylised
theme for our film. It allowed me to split
colours up in the picture which created
the desired effect
I layered my tracks up using Apple loops to create our sound
track in GarageBand. I added fades to the track in order to fit
in with the film which worked well.
Equipment
We also used different pieces of equipment for our film.
We filmed the majority of our film with a Sony HDV 2000 video
camera. This shot our film in high definition and allowed us to make
professional looking film. The camera’s features allowed us to use
techniques such as depth of focus in our film which made the shots
look very movie like. We then edited the shots on the Apple Macs.
We also used a Zoom H4 to record the narration of our film and radio
trailer. We used a sound booth in the music studio in college in order
to not get any room echo in the narration. I then edited this in
GarageBand to boost the treble of the voice to bring out theclarity of
the voiceovers. Below are some pictures of the use of the equipment.
Although in one of our scenes the Sony camera was too big as we
needed a shot from inside a cupboard so we used a camcorder for this
shot which got us over our obstacle.
This is the example of depth of focus
created by the camera

Summary
I believe that without the technology available,
our film would have come out a lot worse than it
did. It allowed us to develop our creative ideas
as a group and fulfil the objectives we wanted to
achieve. In my opinion the technology did not
create any obstacles apart from one small
occasion.
