The student used various software and hardware technologies to create a film production. Final Cut Pro was used for editing and allowed them to organize clips, sound, and effects to construct their story, though some elements did not fit together smoothly. Presentation software was also used to create colorful, engaging blogs to present their work. A Panasonic camera was used for filming but not all of its settings were utilized. A H4N audio recorder captured clear foley sounds to sync with clips. The student aims to improve their skills with Final Cut Pro and sound editing.

2. SOFTWARE - FINAL CUT PRO
We used Final Cut Pro to create our production. This enabled
us to put all the clips, sound and effects together. It helped us
to see if our storyboard would work, we found out it did not.
This was because some clips did not work together smoothly
and sometimes because the score did not fit with some shots.
Due to this software we were able to edit clips so they were the correct length and
colour. We had to colour grade all the clips to make the setting seem gloomier as
the lighting we used was too white. Luckily we had a friend compose the orchestral
yet dissonant score to our needs, this helped as we did not need to try and find
something from online.
We believe that our score fits with our opening sequence very well. With the
sounds we recorded on the H4N, there was a lot of background noise; therefore we
used a tool on the software called background in order to get a clearer, genuine
sound. It took a lot of time to get all the sounds perfect with the score and clips,
however this is one of the most important parts of a horror because without
effective sound the film does not have an impact on anyone.

3. We used a variety of presentations in order to present our work;
this helped as we didn’t want our blogs to just have boring word
documents. Instead they are colourful and there are fun ways to
watch or read our work.

4. The camera which we used was a Panasonic HDC-TM90 Full HD
Camcorder. At every shoot we would set up the camera with the same
settings and start recording. There were many settings on the camera such
as grid lines and white balance; however I don’t think we used as many
setting as we could have, this resulting to a long time in editing. We
wanted to use the dolly whilst filming outside but soon realised it was too
shaky on the camera, so we just used it once inside.

5. We used a H4N to record foley sounds from the bathroom because
the sounds didn’t sound the best on the camera. We had to make
sure that the sounds were clear and good quality by checking them
after we recorded. We also had to make sure that when the male
character was looking for the female character in the bath, that the
sound matched the clip. This was tricky but luckily we succeeded.
The door slam unfortunately did not fit so we had to pick one off of
Final Cut Pro.

6. I think that I have technical areas that still need some work, such as
Final Cut Pro and sound. I know how to use the basics of both
however I would like to learn in more depth of how to use them this
could save a lot of time when it comes to editing. Also it could
make my next production look of higher quality.
