I also downloaded fonts and music samples from the internet.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in Education
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

- 2. When creating our thriller opening sequence a lot of media technologies were obviously used. The main ones probably being the edit suite, camera and tripod. Because I did Media in GCSE, I got to know the editing software, Adobe After Effects, and became quite competent in using it. So when we had to create examples of Continuity Editing, Remaking an existing Opening Sequence, doing our Preliminary Task and now our Thriller Opening Sequence I already had past experience with the software and therefore knew the basics. However, I have learned some new skills because we have had to perform tasks which we were not required to do in GCSE. Becoming further competent in the edit suite has allowed me and my group to create a really good Opening Sequence with fast paced action scenes and slow paced dramatic scenes which bring out the emotions of the audience which we wanted it to. Moving from Analogue to Digital camera has allowed us to get a lot more indepth and better quality shots. With the Analogue camera, we used in GCSE, it would have been practically impossible to get hand held shots as it was too big and delicate to run around with. The Digital Camera on the other hand is much smaller and produces better quality footage, and the footage is also easier to upload to the computer as it only requires putting the SD card into a slot on the computer. Me and my group have all become competent with the Canon 700D camera we use and this has allowed all of us to film scenes within our Opening Sequence as we all play characters in it. Lastly, the tripod has allowed our group to get stable, non-shaky scenes which are used both in the fast and slow paced scenes.
- 3. In a lot of our scenes the sound quality was very low and you could hear the wind on the camera which made the overall quality of the footage quite bad. To counteract this limitation we used the art of Foley, which is essentially when we post-record sound in a recording studio and then add it on top of the footage in the editing program. It was especially useful in our handheld scenes where we were running because the wind was a very prominent sound and ruined the drama of the scene. Because there were limited places we could record where there would be total silence and wouldn’t be any background noise, we used the a room in the Music Department. We used the Garage Band software on a Mac computer, this particular software allowed us to record professional sound which we were then able to add in to our Opening Sequence on Adobe After Effects. We used Foley for footsteps, background noise, the odd rustle of leaves and also some points in which the characters spoke, because the background noise made the speech sound like it was bad quality. Foley is very useful, and it was especially useful to us because we needed to use it for a vast majority of our scenes.
- 4. Throughout our blog we have been asked to constantly use a different range of social based sites so that we can communicate our ideas and work in multiple ways. Using sites which manipulate the different ways in which we can communicate ideas, we have been able to explore other social technologies. I have used the majority, if not all, of the social technologies which have been recommended to use some of these being Prezi, Pinterest, Padlet, Slideshare and YouTube. One social technology we also used was Skype, we used Skype to host a video conference call with Michael Harrowes who has been mentioned in a couple of my previous posts. Using technologies like Prezi has allowed me to communicate my ideas in a different way as of opposed to the typical text on a page, which I feel has aided me with my blog.
