How Technologies Helped Construct Our Film Product
1. What have you learnt about technologies from the
process of constructing this product?

2. Different types of Media. Use one
In our film we used many different types of technologies. We used three main types of
technologies for our filming process. Firstly, to do this we needed a video camera. For this we
chose to use Glyn’s camera as it was high definition quality and very simple and easy to use
(Nikon 1, 2012 model). This helped us because it meant that we could flow through the filming
process without any real problems.
The video camera which we used came with a tripod which was a great advantage as this meant
that we could film the camera angles we wanted without any harm. Using a tripod also allowed
our film to have a good flow without the camera shaking or making the characters out to be
blurry. We could set the tripod up and let it film itself while myself, Glyn and Nick acted out the
scenes. We used this camera in hope to make our jobs easy and helpful and we definitely made
the right choice.
On the camera we used the camera setting to take photos of each actor and then we used the
film setting to record the rest of our project. We had no big issues with the camera which was a
great advantage.
3. Use 2
The second technology which we used was the websites we used in order to search for our
copyright free music track. These websites were very helpful and it also helped us to realise that
there were many legal tracks out there on the internet that would fit our genre of film. It took
quite a while for us to search and find the right track, but in the end we did. The sounds which
this soundtrack gave us were contrapuntal which also helped a huge amount. They fit the genre
and themes of the film. The music was also diegetic to the characters in our film as well. We
were very happy that we used copyright free music sites from the internet as we found a tune
which worked really well.
4. Use 3
The third use of technology was our use of SerifMoviePlus. This application on the computer
helped us to merge each scene together, upload actor’s names on the screen, and upload our
chosen graphics and many more uses. We were right to choose Serif to edit our film as it was
very easy to use. It gave us the opportunity to cut bits out of the film which we didn’t need and
it let us refine our film to the best it could be. Serif allowed us to upload our chosen soundtrack
onto our film so it would become suitable to each character in the film. We created good sound
bridges from one scene to the next while using Serif. Serif wasn’t hard to use but it took a lot of
time. It helped us hugely so we could now know how to make the opening scene of a film
without any real difficulties. To get our graphics onto our film first had to make two out of three
of them. The one which we didn’t have to make was a chosen “lottery funded symbol” for the
beginning of our film. The other two were “JPG productions” and the name of our film, “LINK”.
These took a lot of effort to make and to do this we needed a good software which was
Microsoft Publisher. After we had made these we could upload them onto Serif then onto our
film.
