What are the major capabilities of database management systems (DBMS) and why is a
relational DBMS so powerful? Explanin in 100-150 words.
Solution
A database management system (DBMS) refers to a system software for creating and organizing
databases.
Capabilities of database management system (DBMS) is explained as below-
Data Structuring
All information in a digital store is organized into a clear hierarchical structure with records,
tables or objects. Every piece of information by help of database can be organized in a kind of
catalogue, so that it could be easier to search and update records later on.
Query Languages
A typical DBMS makes it possible to utilize query languages for collecting, searching, sorting,
and modifying.
Multi-user Access
DBMS provides many users access to all types of information stored in one and the same data
store.
The relational database is the key method for organizing and maintaining data in information
systems as it is so flexible and easy to get to. It organizes data in two-dimensional tables called.
Each row expresses a record, and each column represents an attribute or field. Each table also
contains a key field to identify each record for manipulation. Relational database tables can be
add easily to send data required by users.
Hence, relational database is powerful.
