Production Diary<br />14/09/10:<br />Today we learnt about the difference between AS and A2, which included examine marking criteria, looking at planning, research post-production and evaluation of our production. We took notes on this and started to think about what we could do for our production. We also learnt about innovative approaches to present our work and had a discussion about this. We learnt that our work would be presented in a blog and we would have to use a range of media to display our work on the blog, including power point presentations, word documents, images etc. The homework was analyse short films.<br />19/09/10:<br />Today we got into groups that we would produce our film, research and planning with. We shared our work from over the summer and developed ideas considering details and practicalities. Each group has to present to class their ideas and gain feedback. Our group included me, Livvy and Sarra.<br />20/09/10:<br />Today we worked in the student learning centre and developed our presentation about our idea for our short film. We each had a lot of good ideas and together managed to create what we thought was the best idea for our group.<br />21/09/10:<br />Today we had a class discussion on magazine reviews and posters reviews and we all took notes. After being told how we should conduct the analysis, we started reviewing posters and magazines. We had to each do five of each, making 15 in total. For homework we continued poster and magazine analysis.<br />24/09/10:<br />In today’s lesson we had to present our individual presentation of a textual analysis of a short film and received feedback from the rest of the class. I reviewed a short film called Logorama, an animated short film, and received pretty good feedback about the presentation from the class. Outside of the class we continued with our production research and met at Livvy’s house to complete our magazine research and assign certain reviews to each other.<br />27/09/10<br />Today we carried on viewing each other’s short film presentations, and as I had already presented my presentation, I had the role of assessing the other presentations and giving feedback. I then carried on with the research tasks, analysing short films, posters and magazine reviews.<br />28/09/10:<br />Today I continued with researching short films, posters and magazine reviews. Research is coming along well and together as a group we have some strong work. Now we need to reflect on what we have learnt from research and incorporate it into our planning and production.<br />30/09/10:<br />Today I created my blog account on www.blogger.com, carried on with research, and started uploading the work that I had done onto my blog. The blogging website is a great way of presenting and viewing my work. All research has to be completed and on blogs by Friday 1st October by 4pm.<br />4/10/10:<br />Today we talked in lesson about how we are going to do our audience research. Discussion brought up a lot of ideas including; interviews, questionnaire and audio interviews. We decided that outside of the lesson we will create a mind-map showing the type of people that we are going to include in our audience research and create some questions that we will ask them. The people who are included in our audience research should be specific to the type of production we are creating.<br />5/10/10:<br />Today in class we started talking about the planning start of our work and we were shown support work on learn zone. In our group we distributed roles and assigned each other planning work to complete. Together all of our planning work together will help to make our production run smoothly and make it successful. We also decided how each of us will conduct our audience research; Livvy will make video interviews, Sarra will do audio interviews and I am going to create written questionnaires.<br />7/10/10:<br />We got together today in lesson and created our ideas generation. This showed how we have developed our idea for our film and how we will create it. Outside of class we are each going to do a location recce and try to find the perfect location for our production. The location needs to include a house the we can shoot in, and also have a road outside to shoot the car scene.<br />8/10/10:<br />Yesterday outside of college we each conducted a location recce, today we came together as a group and looked at each locations and decided that Livvy’s house would be the most appropriate place to shoot the film. Over the weekend each group member needs to complete their roles which we set each other for planning. We have exchanged E-mail addresses and will send each other completed work.<br />11/10/10:<br />Today we discussed developments of the film after looking at the groups planning work all together. Our planning is good and shooting should be smooth. I am feeling confident about how are film will look and can’t wait to start shooting! <br />18/10/10:<br />In class today we discussed our ancillary tasks. As well as creating research, planning and a short film, we also need to create a poster to advertise our film and a magazine review of our short film. The research of our posters and magazine reviews should reflect on our ancillary tasks.<br />1/11/10:<br />Today we arranged the days that we will shoot our film. We decided to shoot Wednesday at 5pm and Saturday from 9.30 and Sunday from 3 PM. We need to make sure the actors we are using know where to go and when, and we also need to make sure we have everything we need from the equipment and prop list on the day of shooting.<br />4/11/10:<br />This evening we met at Livvy’s house to shoot the dinner scene with actors Holly (plays the mum) and Jak (plays Ben). The shoot went very well and we got all the shots we needed, as well as taking some behind the scenes shots. One shot was particularly hard when we had to do a dolly shot without a dolly and instead used a wheelie chair. Overall we were very pleased with the shoot.<br />6/11/10:<br />This morning we met at Livvy’s house again and this time shot the scenes which included the police. Shoot went very well again, including the difficult tracking shot of the police and Ben’s feet, which we had to shoot hanging out of a car door. Not much left to shoot now!<br />7/11/10:<br />We had our final shoot this afternoon at Livvy’s house again. We shot the opening sequence as well as the car crash. We used a slow motion camera for this scene which with the help of editing should look great! However there may be more that we need to shoot.<br />8/11/10:<br />In lesson today we discussed ideas generation for our ancillary tasks. In our group we also recapped on last week’s shoots and discussed what we needed to re-shoot and when we would do it.<br />9/11/10:<br />Todasy we started editing. As a group we discussed how editing can help continuity in our film as well as portray our message of our film further. We decided fades between shots would help to emphasise Ben fading in and out of the two parallel worlds.<br />13/11/10:<br />Today the girls shot again at 3 PM. Unfortunately I could not attend the shoot but stayed informed with the group and gave some ideas on filling shots.<br />14/11/10:<br />Today we completed editing. We chose which songs to use, which included more research, credits, which we also did more research for. We are very pleased with our finished product!<br />16/11/10:<br />Today we showed our product to Zoe, our tutor, and she gave us some feedback. She told us that the actor who plays the mum is too young and that there is a car in one of the shots that shouldn’t be there. As we can’t reshoot the shots as it would take a lot of time that we don’t have, we will have to talk about it in our evaluation.<br />22/11/10:<br />Today we met up as a group and sent each other all finished work and prepared to upload it all onto our blogs. This included organising the work so that it was all in order. Now all we have to do is our evaluations!<br />30/11/10:<br />Today we completed both evaluations, one written which talks about our research, planning and ancillary tasks and the other evaluation is a recorded sound of our group talking about the film. We recorded sound using a podcaster.<br />3/12/10:<br />Uploaded all work for deadline.<br />
