ASSURE Tuesday Lesson Plan
Analyzing the students: One 8th Grade Classroom in West Virginia, Nine boys and eleven girls,
Eleven Caucasian students, Six African-American students, and Three Asian-American students.
Stating the Objective: By the end of the seventh and last lesson, studens will have completed the
unit. They will have learned how to write an effective, five minute speech with an appropriate
visual and outline. They will learn this by writing an outline, with the help of the QR code
website that aids in speech writing for students, then transfer their outline to flash cards and
present the five minute speech to the class. This will be done with 100% accuracy.
Selection of Method: Students will be assigned to write an outline of their speech and transfer
the speech to flashcards. The speech must be five minutes and the students will grade their peers
with a rubric. The rubric will be the same as the webquest rubric at zunal.com.

2. Preparing materials:
Check internet connection
Prepare Learners: The instructor will explain the proper format of the outline, than the students
will write their outlines.
Require Learner participation: Students will comment on and grade their peers speeches.
Evaluations of Method and Media: Students will participate in a class discussion about the
speeches, and what their favorite part of the unit was. They will write a one page reflection on
what they learned and how it could have been improved.
