While difficult to define, it generally refers to more interactive and user-controlled online experiences as compared to traditional websites.

Teachers need to catch up!) Students want to actively participate in their education (eg. creating, critiquing, editing, modifying and interacting with content, curriculum, teachers, students, employers, the online community) so institutions need to facilitate greater student control.
