Research: European CoffeeTrip Context • Two guys created their YouTube about travel in European for experiment coffee. • They introduce themselves in about nearly two minutes and they talked about travel all around in European to experiment taste coffee in each country. • They created 208 videos of topics but there are included games, quizzes and make a documentary. The fact, I research how many countries around in European are 44 countries which is why they created video more than 44 videos. • Their edited are brilliant because they use professional editing like change focus, fast/slow motion, camera movements and lots of shots. One thing they are most used the camera walking which means the person carried the camera and follow the presenters. • Their target audience are adults and middle-aged because they are love drink a coffee and they are interesting want to try taste European coffee. Some of audience are love to travel the European and some of audience are love to taste random coffee make they relax and less stress. • I think they are probably increase wage because they spend lots of booked flights and hotels each in countries. Flights and hotels are expensive to buying. Which means they are popular in YouTube by millions audience to watch them and want to watch more videos.

He talked about he went to various shop to taste the chicken and explain what it taste like. He tried to persuade to his audience to want buy some chicken from the shop. • He created 24 videos of topic and all videos show that he tried to taste the chicken from each the shop. • I noticed his edited are not professional because he filmed himself and look like he played with his camera like silly and action. He doesn’t have any studio lights or special editing. He just use camera that’s all. But he had interview with owner who manage the shop. His videos most of close up on chicken and the boy eats the chicken. The video can make his audience feel hungry and attracting want to eat it. • I can tell that his target audience are children and teenagers because he is young. He can connect with his audience who similar as his age and probably same as hobby as him. • He doesn’t need any money because all his videos had same location where he lives. Also he wear school uniform and he went to chicken shop after the school. He only want to persuade and inform to his audience about which shop is best taste chicken ever. He wants to his audience visit and buying some chicken from the shop.

Research: How ToCake It Context • The lady called Yolanda and she created YouTube about make a cake. • She gives an introduce about herself like name and company, also reason she make a cake in this episode. They usually about 1 minute for introduce before the start. • She created more than a thousands videos of make a cake because she had lots of ideas to design cakes. She wants to show about her skills idea and handmade. She likes to teach her audience to learn how to make it or want to make it. That’s why she had plenty of idea to create. • I can tell that her video edit had some fast editing because make a cake can be so long to watch like one or two hours to made it. So, she make a brief video to show make a cake. Also fast editing can make the audience feel interested and attracting. She used a lots of close up on the cake because that will make her audience feel hungry and saliva when they watch at her cake. • Her target audience is between 18 to 50 years old because her video talking about giant cake or excellent skill fondants which I think probably suitable to 18 to 50 year old. Under 18 year old might be not ready to learn how to make it or probably not interested to watch it. Over 50 years old might had difficult to cook at their ages or maybe forgot how to make it. Also her target audience is really both gender because depends what their like or not like to bake. • I think she have lots of wage because she keep spend the shop to buying ingredients and foods. She created lots of giant cakes and cupcakes in each of episode which means she spend a lots. Also she is popular in YouTube because her millions audience who watched her and her making a cake. They want her make more video about new cake.

He explained about he shows to his audience how to make a proper cocktails and whiskeys. • He created about 178 videos of he made a cocktails and whiskeys. He shows to his skills to make a cocktails and whiskeys. • Only has some edited, close ups, slow motion and change focus that all. But he used with studio light because his background are nice and clear. His video have only two shots that he used close up and medium shot. • He created the video to his target audience teenagers and adults because they love to drink alcohol. We know the mostly of teenagers audience would love to watch them because teenagers always love to drink cocktails, whiskeys and shots just like they usually going out the nightclubs. • He definitely get his wage from the YouTube because he brought lots of bottle of alcohols on his counter. They are too expensive because all the alcohol are expensive. He spend more bottles while he created lots of videos.
- 10. Research: Similar • Allthe YouTube are same as comedy. I would like to have some comedy in my film because that is help to learn before my FMP. Also they had make a joke to make their audience laugh and comfortable. Comedy is best for the audience because I want to make they feel relax, happy and comfortable. Not need be so seriously. • All of YouTube are used the same as close up on the thing like coffee, chicken, cake and cocktail. Close up can make the audience want to taste them and look closer what they look like. I will use close up because I research in YouTube some of video always have close up because they want to show what they look like. • Three of YouTube have slow and fast motion because they show how it look amazing and cool skill editing. For example the person pour the bottle into glass with slow motion make the audience feel so thirsty and want to drink it. Other for example fast motion when the person sometimes make a cake with fast motion for don’t want make the audience wait and bored. So fast motion is similar skipping some scene to make a time in one video. • All of YouTube has same as used a presenter to explain about their topic and subject. I think I will not use the presenter because I want to create new film without talking or words. I prefer just physically like drink a coffee, eat a cake, service them, cut the piece of cake and pour the coffee into the mug. I think it’s good idea for without presenter because I’m Deaf and I don’t use any talking or some words.

That is might interesting for my audience because I would like to my audience have a respect for visit in ancient buildings where there were war in 12th century. • Also there had coffee, tea and cakes. I think that will be good for filming because most people aware York had strong historian tour industry. I found there had an odd because I never see the café has inside of ancient or historian building. Also, one shop had bit different form other shops, the gatehouse is use upside above and nice to view to the town. Other shops always on the ground. • I will email contact to some owners who manage at the shop for permission to filming inside and outside of the shop. I want to the shop closed because I don’t want to any customers to interrupt my filming. Also, I hopefully one or two staff who behind the bar to make a coffee, cut slide piece of cake and service to the customers. I will shooting at them with Ronin camera for slow and fast motion, change focus and zoom in or out. • I don’t want any customers to fine me by filming them without their permissions. I hope the owner might allowed to closed the shop only for one day or few hours to filming around the shop. Also, I need to plenty room for filming because I know some of shops had very tiny shop which is very easy to crowd. So, I need to space room for the filming. • I hope to found which is unpopular shop because unpopular shop owner who might accepting to filming at their shop and they want to spread to customers to know about it and visit the shop. I might won’t to filming the popular shop because they had already to spread website, commercial or article. Many people are know about that shop. Also popular shop the owner or the manager will be too busy or not be won’t allowing to closed for one day. That’s why I prefer to filming at unpopular shop more easy for me.

The person had clever skill to make it and there only few subtitles about ingredient. The video look so relax and comfortable because camera style had the most of close up and change focus to make look nice and clear. I noticed the editing had the most of slow motion because it’s make the screen look clear, smooth and attracting. I like to create similar as it because I will use the editing slow motion and close up shot because they are important to make the audience want to make a tea. His camera movement had spinning circle which is I never try that before. For now, I will use the spinning circle for round the circle on the centre cup of coffee to make look cool. I want some new skill like spinning circle, fast and slow motion and without a tripod. I will experiment with spinning circle because I never use it before and I might need it for my video about coffee and cake. I have one idea, from the first spinning circle forward to coffee and then spinning circle backward to cake. I will editing to middle from two scenes together and make change quickly.

- 23. Planning: Similar Shotsand Movements One That image I will similar as it because I want to filming inside the shop and show around the room look like. I will use pan, track and dolly because they will show plenty room of screen. That image I will similar as it because I will need two guests sit down and chatting. They will eat a cake and drink a coffee. I will use pan from the left on the table to the right of person’s face with some fast/slow motion. That image I will similar as it because I will use the change focus. I will filming at coffee, bar, menu, guests or cake with blurry background for focus on one thing. I will definitely use it because I never use it before so that time I will use it in my project.

I will filming at location shop because I want to audience to know where is the shop and want to go there after watch my film. I will use tilt because I prefer filming from bottom to top the building of the shop to show what it look like. That image I will similar as it because I will filming at coffee and cake shop. So, I will filming at some cakes from the glass shelves and show to the audience who will feel hungry. Also I will use pan or track to film whole glass shelves to show what the cakes look like. I think it’s will really attracting because my audience who love a cake. That image I will similar as it because I will use close up with change focus and slow motion. They are perfect for my film because I use them make look so cool and attracting. For example, I will filming as person pour pot of coffee into cup of coffee with close up, change focus and slow motion to make look so tempting.

We agreed on the date and time that I visited in her shop with my guest who will acting in my film. “Hello, my name is Jack and I am Deaf. I am a student and I am studying creative media production at York College. My project is about coffee and cake shops. I’m learning to create my web-series and will talk about coffee and cake shops like in an advert or a commercial. This is simply a project for college, I will not be making any money from this. I will be filming coffee, cake and the interior of the cafe. Also, I would like to film one of your staff making coffee. I will have 2 to 3 other people with me who will be discussing the coffee and cake we are eating. We will be having our conversation in sign language. One of my presenters would also like to talk to a member of staff about the coffee and cakes that you sell. I am interested in your shop and I would like to film around and inside. I will be free between 2nd January to 8th January. Is there a time that would be good for you? I hope to hear from you soon.” I emailed to 10 shops from my list. I must send lots of shops because I want to prepare if one of shop probably accept it. I write one paragraph about the introduce myself and explain about what and why to filming in the shop. I hope one or two of shops accept me to filming around their shop.

- 30. Evaluation: Characteristic /Content (Coffee Trip) I watched in YouTube called Coffee European Trip because that link to my idea film about coffee. However, I noticed their video have different from my film because there have two presenters talked about coffee each shops in European for experiment to taste or make different in countries. Two men filmed themselves talked about various shops to drink a coffee. They filmed and interview with the manager and staff who owner the shop. They explained to them about business to create coffee shop and histories too. They added the music when the filming around the shop. Their video had obviously include dialogue because the presenters, manager and staff had talking. They don’t need any facial expression and body language because they used over-voice to describe how they feeling and talk about how to make it.
- 31. Evaluation: Characteristic /Content (My film) My film is different from Coffee European Trip because my guest has different from two presenters. My film had no sounds or talking because my guest and I are profoundly Deaf which is I prefer silent film. My idea to create my film storyline without dialogue. My guest used facial expression and body language to show from the beginning with sad face until happy face at the end of scene. My guest and I were discuss about how to tell the story without dialogue to my audience to understand what my story about. She don’t need rehearsal because she already had experience with facial expression and body language. So, I found them so easy because I am Deaf which is that I have experience with facial expression and body language rest of my life. Also that is Deaf culture can make my audience will notice it very quickly. One scene where my guest order a coffee is strong awake about Deaf because my guest has show her phone to staff for order a coffee. My audience will notice she show her phone which is know she can’t speak or staff doesn't understand her sign language.

- 33. Evaluation: Production Similar/Different •I watched some YouTube videos about coffee shop. I decided to pick some scenes and shots will similar to my film because I noticed some videos have same as shots and scenes because they might be important to look good and make the audience will attracting. • I created timetable for shot list because I want to pick some same as their videos shot. I want to similar with other YouTuber’s video which is I know how to get my audience attention by watch the video. Most of videos had close up, medium shot, extreme long shot, two shot and extreme close up. I had same as them shots in my film. • As you see images from previously slide, that I had some same as shots like customer order coffee, waiter pour the coffee in cup, give the coffee to the customer and drink the coffee. That scenes will be look cool and attraction. • I had bit different from their video because my film most visible around shop. I filmed inside and outside the shop, I filmed poster, counter, coffee machine, some customers, waiter/waitress make a coffee, cakes and cup of coffee. Also I filmed at my guest doing around in shop like going to order, sit down and have a drink the coffee without any words or quotes. I like visible because that is link to Deaf culture because visible have a strong imagine what it look like and easy to describe. • I was editing my film about 3 minutes include lots of slow and fast motion. When my tutor and I discussed about disagree with long slow motion because that will make my audience feel bored. I checked twice with slow motion and I realise my tutor is right because long slow motion make me feel bit bored. I decided to cut and remove some scenes and make the scene brief and quick enough. • They tour about 6 to 7 shops in less than 10 minutes. That is lot of shops and probably about 2 to 3 minutes each the shop. My film should be about 3 minutes but there have too many slow and fast motion can make look bored. However, I tried to make brief fast and slow motion to make look interesting and cool. After I repeat edited and my film total about nearly 2 minutes but that is still good enough. Quick editing is good for my film because my film look action to persuade my audience to visit the shop. That is similar as their video because they are also have quick editing.
- 34. Evaluation: Time Management •I have under control time with planning and pre-production because I know what I doing with them. Also I created a brief storyboard because that might be difficult that it’s won’t be exactly shot or camera movement. I was screenshot some images from YouTube to show what they look like that I want to similar as them. • Before I start filming, I know Christmas weeks probably difficult to find the time and date because Christmas weeks can be too busy or might be closed shop. I had send the email to some shops before my Christmas holiday because I want to know when their able free time or quietly day will be suitable for me to filming. I had received three shops who accepted me to filming around the shop. So, I looked at three shops inside and decided pick one the best for filming. • I filmed in shop called The Pig and Pastry and the shop is small building easy to crowding. Good job, I booked at 4pm and there are very few customers which is perfect to space for filming. I had no problem with time because the owner offered me to stay through closed shop. • Before I start editing, I heard my college has Taste Day which mean I won’t be in college two days (Tuesday and Thursday). I decided to create a timetable to make sure right order in time and I don’t want to be rush or panicking before decline. However, I can manage with my time to editing my film because I was force on my work to make time control. • I have one thing is problem that I has last minutes to asked actor or guest because I want to three actors in my film but two of three actors has drop out and I was asked to my friends in my Facebook and snapchat few hours before the filming begin. I will must asking actors few weeks before the filming start because I want to less stressing and under control with my time. last minutes can be messy up my plan make my work look confuse. • I doesn’t have any plan A and B in my work because I thought everything is ok but suddenly two actors had drop out. In my FMP I will must include plan A and B in case if actors probably dropping out last minutes. That is important for me and my work because I don’t like my work will be ruin in last minutes.

Evaluation: Personal Development •I was very nervous for email to the shop because I was first time to ask the owner for permission to filming in their shop and I filming around the shop in front staff and customers which is I never experiment it. I tried to other way to filming around in college make me calm. But I must persevere to email to the shop because they want me film in reality shop not college café. • I went to The Pig and Pastry shop and I was nervous because I am Deaf and I don’t know how to communication with the owner. Good thing that I send email to the manage for inform that I am Deaf before we meet. I arrived at Café, the manager and the staff make me feel welcome because they are so cozy around me with great greeting. I was so relieve and happy to carry on filming around the shop. I saw staff make a coffee with whipping cream make me mouth water. I had taste it and that so delicious. I was very enjoy sit down and drink a coffee with my friend when the shop was close because they offered me to relax after filming. • I was bit stressing with Pig and Pastry shop because that shop was too small room to filming. I understand because York town is popular of historian tourist and all the building are old. That shop is also old building. • I was surprise that my work was much better than client and last year FMP because my film look bit professional and excellent. I am happy with my work and I want to exactly same as next FMP because I want my comedy film more better than old FMP. • I used camera called Osmo a small camera on one hand. Osmo camera had excellent focus and movement. I useful it for easy to space for shooting and light to move around the shop. First at all, I feel uncomfortable with it because the scene shooting so small and I was difficult to see the screen. I tried getting on with camera during the filming. When I edited it and I realise the screen look so good! I think Osmo camera is better than Ronin camera because Ronin camera make me nervous what if I break it by twister on the top. • I had lots of discusses with my two tutors talking about my film. Sometimes I fed-up with their feedback but sometimes I understand with their feedback and views. After the discuss, I had to change a lot in editing because my film bit longer include slow and fast motion make my tutor feel bored and me too, the fact. I remove some scenes and added special effect where the blurry at the beginning and ending scene. After I edited it and I was very happy with my tutor’s impressed feedback. • First at all, I want to different font title at the end scene because I didn’t know how to copy the title font. So, I researched in DaFont in internet but my tutor disagree with me because I don’t allowed to change their title font and it’s sounds like my shop. I agreed with my tutor and I must copy exactly same as their title shop. I thought DaFont might have one, unfortunately, there didn't have one so I screenshotted the shop title and put it in Photoshop to remove background. I added white glow behind the title and I put it on the end scene. This is look real title same as the shop title. That is important title font is belong the owner who created the title and I must respect it.
