Essay about International Differences
International Differences
Did you ever think about what it takes for an international student to come to America for a college
education? They have to leave their family and friends, just as we do, but at a much farther distance. I
cannot imagine amount of money and time it must take to plan a trip across the world, all for a new,
exciting learning experience.
Right now, many of us have just moved to a large university and begun a life on our own. It seems like
a tough idea to grasp when you are just starting to look at colleges, while still in high school or
another point in your life. When the time comes, though, hopefully you will be ready for a change.
International students have to live through this same situation, at an even ... Show more content on

She likes the Iowa State campus, as it is comfortable to her.
I asked Jennifer what some of the differences are here in America as compared to Indonesia. She said
that the classes in her city were small and students were to shy to ask questions. Here, there are larger
classes and more active students. She also said that people converse a lot more here than in Indonesia.
Americans spend a lot more time interacting in this way. One trivial fact I learned was that in
Indonesia you become boyfriend or girlfriend with someone before you go on any dates. Here, of
course, it is usually the opposite case.
Jennifer also told me of a few similarities she has noticed while spending time in the U.S. First, we are
all students, working toward a goal. Each person has his or her own personal goal and way of
working. Also, group work is an enormous part of the Iowa State community. She said that in
Indonesia, group work is not encouraged quite as much, but it is still an important element of a good
education.
Also, imagine what international students think about the terrorism of the last week. Can you believe
that it might be tough for them to handle the American s sad and angry feelings? Do you think they
might be worrying about their family and friends back home? I believe that it is hard for anyone to
endure a change in life. During these hard times, it seems natural for cultures to pull together and
work as one.

Epidemiological Assessment Essay
Epidemiological Assessment Ideally, the advantages Information Technology workers in the Santa
Clara county and globally enjoy in terms of high income, high education and access to an array of
employer provided resources should warrant excellent health outcomes. But surprisingly, studies from
different countries have pointed out several health issues in IT workers like ocular discomforts,
musculo skeletal problems, and metabolic syndrome. These health issues have been attributed to their
sedentary lifestyle, occupational stress and prolonged use of computer (Shrivastava Bobhate, 2012).
More recently, mental health issues like anxiety, depression which largely go undiagnosed and
untreated have been reported in IT workers in the United ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Shrivastava Bhopate, 2012). The most common overuse injury associated with computer use is
Carpel Tunnel syndrome (Ali Sathiyasekaran, 2006). The musculo skeletal problems are significantly
related to the number of working hours. Computer vision syndrome and musculoskeletal problems are
increasing among software professionals globally. To reduce vision and musculo skeletal morbidities,
interventions should focus on redesigning and improving workstation ergonomics (Shrivastava
Bhopate, 2012). Globally, information technology is one of the fastest growing industry. This growth
puts a lot of pressure on IT professionals to deliver efficiently. There is constant pressure of
competition, targets, meeting aggressive deadlines, rapid obsolescence of skills, and working long
hours. The job stress coupled with poor diet and low physical activity is a perfect cocktail for
morbidities in this population. A study exploring the occupational stress, mental health and coping
among IT professionals in Hyderabad, India revealed that job stress and not job satisfaction or
dissatisfaction affected the wellbeing of employees (Rao Chandraiah, 2012). Study of IT employees of
Canandian technology firms concluded that stress, anxiety and depression are high among tech
workers (Sutton, 2003). In a cross sectional study involving software professionals from Mumbai,
India, nearly half of the respondents reported having

Introduction. The Importance Of Communication Is The Needed
Introduction
The importance of communication is the needed basis in nursing practice. Communication is often
dependent on the verbal and nonverbal communication (Marshall Stevens, 2015). Also behavioural
along with speech aspects, skilled transfer with receiving of the nurse patient information starts
productive relationships or defiantly, it develops significant repercussions if used in an improper way.
This essay will converse the importance of verbal with non verbal communication in establishing and
maintaining a therapeutic relationship between a nurse and patient. In this case, a therapeutic
relationship is one which is founded on mutual trust as well as respect, the cultivation of hope and
faith, being kind towards each other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Without a doubt, the verbal communication is very critical in the development of a therapeutic nurse
patient relationship bringing about respect, understanding, sincerity as well as empathy (Marshall
Stevens, 2015).
Non verbal communication
Although it is clear that verbal communication establishes a nurse patient relationship, the non verbal
communication includes the best part of an interpersonal relationship between the two parties. Both
communications have equal importance, but studies show that non verbal aspect of communication is
more efficient than the verbal communication. There are non verbal actions that are seen to be
indispensable in the nursing care, smiling, eye gaze, body position and head nodding; these actions are
well known as body language (DeWit O Neill,2014). It is through cautious deliberation of the
nonverbal actions that nurses are in a position to gain a broad sight to the patient s emotional needs
with their experiences.
For a nurse to show empathy and warm, they ought to make eye contacts with the patients.
Nevertheless, eye contact is a different exemption in non verbal communication. It exposes the hidden
with deep feelings which can never be articulated in any other way which might work out during the
nurse patient connection. For example, Asian and Latin societies, looking people in the eye shows
disrespect while in western culture it

Examples Of Sibling Rivalry In East Of Eden By John Steinbeck
East of Eden, a novel written by John Steinbeck, is set in Salinas, California, a place Steinbeck calls
home. Steinbeck believes East of Eden to be his most sacred piece of work. Throughout the novel,
Steinbeck explores the universal themes that all humans experience, such as: lust, family, sin, and free
will. The novel foreshadows the roles that the characters play as they reenact the biblical story of Cain
and Abel. Several characters through the course of Steinbeck s novel, East of Eden, demonstrates a
lack of self ability and corruption of the soul. In East of Eden, John Steinbeck portrays stories and
concepts of the Bible through good versus evil, sibling rivalry, and the importance of truth through the
external and internal conflicts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the novel, the characters withhold the truth from themselves and everyone else. Neither knows that
Kate is alive until Aron falls in love with Abra Hamilton, Sam s daughter. Abra eventually reveals this
information to Aron, who now realizes that his father has not been forthright with him. (Shuman).
Once they start telling the truth, they feel as if their lives start to align. Adam and Charles father,
Cyrus, lies about his Civil War reputation to earn an important job and a massive fortune. Charles
withholds the truth about Cathy s seduction towards him on her and Adam s wedding night. Lee lies to
himself about wanting to leave the Trask family and open a bookstore. Cal keeps his work with Will
Hamilton a secret from his father. Adam and Lee keep the truth about Cathy from Cal and Aron.
Likewise, Cal fails to inform his father and Lee that he knows that his mother is alive and a well
known brothel owner. Adam lies to himself about Cathy and excuses her psychotic behavior.
However, the truth sets Adam and Cal free. Adam finally faces the truth about Cathy. Once he tells her
the truth, he relaxes and feels free. Also, Cal faces up to the fact that telling Aron the truth might have
resulted in his death. Cal takes responsibility for his actions, and realizes that he has the ability to
make good choices in the future. Lee leaves and goes to open up his bookstore, but realizes the truth.

Mcdonald s The Fast Food Industry Is The Value Of Money Of...
The reason McDonald s has been succeeded in the fast food industry is the value of money of their
products, and the fast clean and friendly environment. Customers are getting attracted to this chain
over competitors due to the quality of service and they could get burgers and fries at one price, not like
other places who sells the same products, food package can be bought for a same price. The other
quality is the consistency, with this qualities, Korc noticed that they have a potential of opening new
stores and expand the business into mass scale successfully, which they do currently.
In 1965 USA market, McDonald s held an IPO in new York stock exchange, with the analysis, it is
been figured out that the US market has reached to saturation and that every opening of a new
McDonald s restaurant intruded upon the revenues of other restaurants already in operation. Based on
considering all these facts, McDonald s decided to pursue a diversification strategy, in pre selected
countries, General Management would develop core competencies, the purpose of which was to build
more profit and revenue winning restaurants, and to develop these core competencies for use as a
model throughout the corporation.
This competency center in each country would share its acquired knowledge with other restaurants so
that new products or services could be implemented to generate new growth.
McDonald s Switzerland got the green light from the Chicago executive board to pursue a hotel
venture.

Summary Of Title VII Of The Civil Rights Act Of 1965
Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1965 was designed to protect workers from job discrimination.
These employees are known as protected class. Under the Civil Rights Act, the Equal Opportunity Act
of 1972 and 1991 provide for equal employment opportunity, in which everyone had the right to
employment regardless of sex, race, color, ethnicity, national origin, or religion. The purpose of the
Equal Opportunity Act was to make sure employees gained and kept employment based solely on their
ability to perform their job (Schermerhorn, J. Bachrach, D. 2015, p. 295). Under this title,
organizations are expected to show affirmative action. Affirmative action gives preference in
employment to traditionally underrepresented women and minority

Essay on Use of DBCP and Relation to Infertility
Use of DBCP and relation to infertility
Dow produced DBCP (1,2 dibromo 3 chloropropane), a soil fumigant, and nematicide, which was sold
under the names the Nemagon and Fumazone until the late 1970s. US banned DBCP in 1979 after it
was linked to human sterility in California. But, Dow and three other companies continued producing
the hazardous pesticide DBCP for years after it was banned and exported it to developing countries.
Animal testing had revealed that the product caused male sterility in rats and the companies knew
about it at least since the 1960s, but concealed this information. They also neglected to report the

to end Dow s illegal advertising of Dursban as safe .
Acquisition of Union Carbide
The Bhopal Disaster of 1984 was the worst industrial disaster in the history of the world. It was
caused by the accidental release of methyl isocyanate (MIC) from a Union Carbide India, Limited
(UCIL) pesticide plant located in the heart of the city of Bhopal. UCIL was a joint venture between
Union Carbide and a public/private consortium of Indian investors. The MIC leak killed thousands
outright and injured anywhere from 150,000 to 600,000 others, at least 15,000 of whom died later
from their injuries. The contamination due to the leak is still active and no cleanup has been done till
now.
Despite the involvement of Union Carbide in a criminal case in India, location of the plant in the heart
of the city and the disaster site still not cleaned up, Dow bought Union Carbide in 2001. The transfer
of ownership led to complicating the issue of cleaning up the plant and its environs of hundreds of
tonnes of toxic waste, which has been left untouched. Environmentalists have warned that the waste is
a potential minefield in the heart of the city, and

John Stuart Mills Theory Of Punishment
To me punishment is a phrase that is best learned by children and criminals. As we grow up in life we
learn what you can and cannot do by pushing it to the edge, seeing just how far you can go before
being punished. We push those limits through our school, peers, family, society or the criminal justice
system. When experiencing punishment in life, if bestowed correctly the teacher will teach the student
a life long lesson. This is why when an individual has done something dishonorable he or she should
be punished as quickly and close as possible to the time and or place of the incident. If punishment is
long delayed, the connection between it and the offense becomes stained. It makes no sense to punish
an individual who has behaved properly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such as if my child refuses to clean their room. I would not chop their hand off; I would talk to them
or send them to their room and take away privileges. Now if they were caught indulging in those
privileges, without permission. I would then have to make the punishment more sever then going to
the room. That is the main problem with punishment you must try too make the punishment fit the
crime. But the punishment must be harsh enough to where the person does not want to indulge in such
behavior in the

The Rise and Fall of Dynasties in China
The rise and fall of dynasties in china
Introduction
Rhoads Murphey describes the history of China history is on the succession of dynasties that ruled it
over a period of time until around 1912 when Republic of china was formed before rising to the
current People s Republic of China was formed in 1949. In China, a dynasty was made up of Kings or
emperors that came from the same family. They ruled in succession where a king could be inherited by
his son or his immediate relatives. Although china s history is majorly regarded on the basis of
dynastic ruling, other small kingdoms were established that ruled different part of china. For example,
in 200AD, the fall of great Han dynasty triggered formation of smaller kingdoms all over the china
which were later united by a short lived Sui Dynasty that reigned between 580 and 618 AD.
In Murphey s book varied dynasties have been described how they came to power and how they
eventually collapsed. From his book, various reasons for dynastic rise in china can be summarized as
follows; most dynasties were founded through force and especially when there was disorder in a given
dynasty. This could even break into a fight and those who won could take up and rule for a period of
time waiting to be overthrown by other powerful people. Dynasty could also rise as a result of leaders
who were very powerful and vigourous. These leaders could create their own stable and prosperous
kingdom that secured it territories and people.

What Is Tarantino s Pulp Fiction
Tarantino s Pulp Fiction is a fusion of Alfred Hitchcock and Jean Luc Godard because he creates a
style different from conventional movies of the 1980s. Godard and Hitchcock are known for their
outlandish, but revolutionary plays on storytelling. Tarantino does not abide by any rules in his film.
The film has three different stories that are intertwined to create one film. Tarantino borrows this
technique from Hitchcock. Bates Motel displays the story of Marion dies in the first 40 minutes ,
Norman Bates, and Marion s sister and husband. Somehow, both filmmakers are able to make things
work that most filmmakers would fail at. The use of episodic like films is prevalent in Hitchcock s
film who originally worked on television shows. The curiosity

The Disease Known as Diabetes
8.3 percent of Americans have a disease called diabetes mellitus, also known as diabetes. It is
characterized by high blood sugar, brought on either because the pancreas is not producing enough of
a hormone called insulin, which helps remove glucose from the blood, or because the cells are
unresponsive to the insulin that is being produced. Three symptoms that result from this high blood
sugar are polyuria, or frequent urination, polydipsia, or increased thirst, and polyphagia, or increased
appetite. When the body cannot produce insulin, this is called type 1 diabetes. People with this type of
diabetes usually have to inject insulin or wear an insulin pump. In contrast, when cells simply cannot
use insulin correctly, the patient has type 2 diabetes. This is usually treated by increasing exercise or
making adjustments to the diet, which should lower blood sugar. Finally, a third type of diabetes called
gestational diabetes occurs only in pregnant women. These women have not been previously
diagnosed with diabetes, rather, they have developed high blood sugar during their pregnancy. If not
effectively treated by making changes to the diet, gestational diabetes can be a precursor to type 2
diabetes as well as childhood obesity and eventual diabetes in the infant. Of all cases of diabetes, only
about five to ten percent are type 1. Even so, more and more people worldwide are being diagnosed
every year, and the effects of the disorder are very serious if not severe on both the

However, There Is One Issue Regarding To The Downsized
However, there is one issue regarding to the downsized engines.Porsche s Engine Downsizing
There are more than one billion cars around the world up to date and this number is increasing rapidly
because of the demand for them. Most of the cars in the world have big engines right now. Big engines
are made of eight cylinder (V8), ten cylinder (V10), or twelve cylinder (V12 / W12). Those types of
engines have been used for many years in the car industry. Most of the car manufacturers prefer to use
those engines because their customers like them and thinking that more cylinder means more power.
For many years, those car manufacturers have not realized one thing that big engines emission rates
are actually really important for the environment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After introducing the Cayenne, they also started to produce four door coupe alike sedan called
Panamera with the same engine options in 2011. Porsche mostly used their V8 engines in their four
door cars until 2014, but after that year they started to downsize their engines because of the new
emission rules that their government released. By those new reduced emission regulations, Porsche
become one of the first sports car manufacturers that started to downsize their engines. Downsizing
the engine is pretty simple. They are actually taking 4.8 liter, eight cylinder V8 engine and changing it
with the 3.6 liter, six cylinder V6 engine. When they are downsizing the engine, they are also adding
that engine a turbocharger to make it much powerful as the bigger engine. (Turbocharger is helping
the engine to get more air to the pistons to increase its performance) Most of the Porsche customers
thought bigger engines are stronger and it makes the car go faster, but actually it is not true because
when they add turbochargers to the new downsized engine, it makes the car much powerful as the old
models. Another thing about the downsizing the engine is the fact that, when the manufacturer makes
the engine smaller, they are actually making the car lighter too and that lighter car goes faster on the
road than the previous models because it has

Ralph Presents The Success Of The Christian On The Campaign
Ralph presents the success of the Christian on the campaign resulting from Gods intervention on their
behalf. The role played by god as the driving force in the crusade. With the progression of Gesta
Tancredi, God is credited as giving the upper edge to the followers of Christ over the enemies who and
the followers of Mohamet. Ralph credits God with giving courage and wisdom to the Crusaders.
When the odds were against the Christians he showed them the way to victory or salvation. Ralph
presents the primary motive for the Crusade as a service on behalf the Lord. It is this reason why he
credits God when the Christian armies are victorious and to why they kept pushing even when facing
defeat.
Ralph presents that the purpose of the Crusade was a service to God . He states that military life
conflicted with Christian principles on murder. Pope Urban granted remission of all sins for Christians
who participated in the campaign to reclaim the holy land in the name of Lord. Tancred, a Norman
leader participated in the first crusade benefited from this proclamation . Ralph describes Tancred with
having a great battle spirit matched with his devotion for Christ. For the crusade Tancred took up his
sword in the service of Christ. At the begging of the campaign during the crossing from Italy on the
way to Byzantium, the safe passage of Tancred and Bohemond was possible with gifts and prayers to

The World s Total Fertility Rate
What to Expect When No One is Expecting Reflective Analysis As our global population count
continues to exponentially climb, many people are under the impression the world is overpopulated. A
lot of society wonders how we will be able to sustain such a large population. An overpopulated planet
could cause or enhance problems such as natural resource depletion, global climate change, and
starvation. The majority of people believe overpopulation is our world s most crucial problem,
including me. Or at least I did before I read What to Expect When No One is Expecting. This book
definitely made me think twice. What to Expect When No One is Expecting, by Jonathan Last, argues
how overpopulation will not be a challenge for future generations. In fact, the book shares how
married couples are not having enough babies. Statistically, in the last forty years, the world s total
fertility rate (TFR) has decreased from 6.0 to 2.52. Meaning, the average woman is having 4.48 less
children in her lifetime. At first glance, this statistic seems like a good thing, but in reality it is
expected to have a devastating effect. What to Expect When No One is Expecting convinced me the
world doesn t have an overpopulation problem by explaining how economics is a major cause of the
lowered fertility rates, and consequently, because there are less babies, the economy will take the
biggest hit. Today, in America, the TFR stands at 1.93 and continues to fall. However, the average

lady s head is attached to machines, her organs are controlled by machines, her limbs are controlled by
machines, even her mood is controlled by Dr. Frankenstein, her doctor. The doctor s name itself can be
viewed as a foreshadowing of his character, there is a comparison between him and his namesake,
referring either to that he is a modern monster, controlling an old lady, not giving her the option to
make decisions about her own life the arm are designed so she can t possibly point a gun at herself or

The Effects Of HIV Testing In Pregnant Women
HIV can be transmitted from an HIV infected mother to her newborn child. According to the World
Health Organization (WHO), without antiretroviral treatment of the mother, up to 30% of infants born
to HIV positive mother s become infected with HIV themselves. The number increases to 35% 50% if
the mother breastfeeds the baby (aidsinfonet, 2014). The risk of HIV transmission to the infant from
the mother decreases significantly if the mother used antiretrovirals throughout pregnancy and labor.
If the mother does not breastfeed, the HIV transmission risk is also decreased (aidsinfonet, 2014).

A second HIV test in the third trimester is recommended for women who are at a high risk of
contracting HIV. This would include women whose partners are known to be HIV positive, and for
those women who have had sexual intercourse with a new partner during the pregnancy (Prevention,
An Opt Out Approach to HIV Screening, 2017). HIV testing in the third trimester is also
recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention if the pregnant women are in a
geographic region that has a high prevalence of HIV (Prevention, An Opt Out Approach to HIV
Screening, 2017). According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Opt out approach
can increase the number of pregnant women tested for HIV, which leads to an increase of pregnant
women who are aware of their HIV status (Prevention, An Opt Out Approach to HIV Screening,
2017). The Opt out approach also increases the number of HIV infected women who are offered
treatment which would lead to a reduction in vertical HIV transmission (Prevention, An Opt Out
Approach to HIV Screening, 2017). Family planning, as well as preconception counseling, should be

DORIS LESSING S TO ROOM 19 SYMBOLS
TO Room 19: SYMBOLS Women in patriarchal societies are brought up to have certain values, like to
have a desire to be good mothers and good wives. However, as much as they try to do these things,
they find that their passions and instincts are put down and this leads to misery and insanity. Women
have voiced their concerns about the problems of being a woman in a man s society for years.
Feminist literature existed before feminism as a movement did. Finally, in the 20th century, this led to
the second and third waves of feminism criticizing the limitations of patriarchal and sexist society for
women. Doris Lessing in her story To Room Nineteen uses many symbols to explain how women in
patriarchal society feel oppressed and unfulfilled. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Susan s madness can be explained as the result of the clash between her impulsive, complex
personality and the orderliness of the Victorian Angel, it can also be seen as resulting from the conflict
between her private wishes and the public expectations that were placed on her, and on women in
general. (Sandoiu) The common social problems of women are why neither one of them, Susan or
Matthew, can look at any part of their marriage and say, For the sake of this is all the rest (253).
Matthew does everything in his power to make Susan happy, asking her how her day was ( not as
interesting, but that was not her fault ), and trying to support her because both knew of the hidden
resentment and deprivations of the woman who lived her own life... and is now dependent on a
husband (254). Matthew does cheat on her, but Susan and Matthew end up agreeing that this is natural
(255). All of this, however, makes Susan feel that she was being poison[ed] by resentment and that she
was a prisoner (263). As the narrator explains, She must tell Matthew but what? She was filled with
emotions that were utterly ridiculous, that she despised... (264). Like many women, Susan was trying
her best to be happy and grateful in a situation that she emotionally hated. The symbols of poison and
prison, both slow and dreadful, are used to emphasize how Susan can be suffering even as she seems

What do you hear? Chaos? Confusion? No, it is the music heard daily as you take walk in the shoes of
an Emergency Room nurse.
II. Motive for Listening
Emergency nursing is a specialized area of nursing overflowing rewarding opportunities. Whether you
choose a career of being a nurse, a paramedic/firefighter, or police officer, people will always be sick,
injured, or in danger. Each of these jobs is constantly seeking trained professionals. III. Credibility
Statement
Since obtaining my Registered Nurse license in 1992, I have practiced full time in the Emergency
Department. Prior to becoming a nurse, I volunteered for three years as an Emergency Medical
Technician with Greensville Volunteer Rescue Squad. In addition, my parents were both charter and
life members of the Brunswick Volunteer Rescue Squad. Therefore, through formal research in
conjunction with a lifetime of personal experiences, I have gained and continue to gain a deeper
understanding with appreciation for the self sacrificing compassionate care involved with the career
path for being an ER nurse.
IV. Purpose or Thesis Statement
Emergency nursing extends beyond the basic nursing skills, concepts and reasoning taught in the
classroom; ER nurses must demonstrate critical thinking skills while providing unbiased,
compassionate care while collaborating with other professional disciplines.

SEC Football: Previewing the New Year s Day SEC bowl games
The SEC has a total of nine teams playing in bowl games this season. Four teams from the conference
will play in December, but for the first time in over six decades, five SEC teams will play in a New
Year s Day bowl.

Every team wants to be bowl eligible, but with so many bowl games played each postseason, simply
playing in any bowl game is not as significant as it used to be. However, it is still a pretty big deal to
get to play on Jan. 1.
Out of all the Power Five conferences, the SEC is not sending the most teams to a bowl game.
However, the ACC, the Big 12 and the Big Ten each have no more than one team playing on New

Johnson has 17 touchdowns and over 1,000 yards this season. He suffered a shoulder injury in the
final game of the regular season against Alabama and was limited in the SEC Championship game.
But he is expected to be available for the Peach Bowl.

Essay On Populism
There are, of course, other definitions of populism that are worth at least exploring. One particularly
popular book has been What is Populism by Princeton professor Jan Werner Müller. His definition
asserts that Populism is a moralistic imagination of politics that is anti pluralist and claims exclusive
representation of the people. (Müller 2016, Pg. 20) Ironically, he uses Wallace s Segregation forever
comment to support this claim. We actually argue that this moment was the attaching of populism to
nativist ideology in order to build a winning coalition (as is attested by Wallace himself), not an actual
expression of populism itself (Rowan 1991). We reject his definition on several grounds. The first is
the premise that populists must necessarily be anti pluralist. There is no ground in which this must be
the case. In fact, populist voting populations must be pluralistic in and of themselves, because as he
makes clear, there is no such thing as a homogenous people in existence. The only sense in which they
are not plural is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
3). Under this conceptualization the oft used term silent majority makes little sense in the reality of
populism, if populist believe that they speak with the authority of everyone. This seems to be a
convenient theoretical position, not an actual description of populism in the real world. This ironically,
leads to him excluding the original American Populist party of the 1890 s from his own definition of
Populism. Additionally, right wing populism surely differentiates between the elites themselves and
those they view as below them. (See diadic [left wing] vs. triadic [right wing] populism.) Populism is
about a claim to the volonte generale (general will), not the absolute will of the people. (Mudde and

The Role Of Management Accountants And The Past And Recent...
The role of management accountant has been attracting a lot of interest since the principle of scientific
management was published by Frederick Winslow Taylor in 1911, which marked the birth of
management accounting theory. When researching the roles of management accountant in both past
and recent years, it is obvious to find that things have changed a lot. This essay is going to briefly
introduce both the past and the recent roles of management accountants first. Then discuss the reasons
for management accountants changing role. After that the analysis of the advantages this changing role
will bring about and the limitations it has will be given. Finally, some suggestions about how to treat
this changing role in today s economic environment will be offered.
In past years, traditional management accountants are score keepers , they provide information to
facilitate the process of assessing organization s actual performance against its planned activity
(Burns, Quinn, Warren, Oliveira, 2010). They mainly make people do what they are expected to do.
While now they are acting as internal consultants of the company. They spend less time on routine
tasks and more time on giving advice to managers to help them to develop a business sensitivity in
making decisions.
There are many factors facilitating the change in the role of management accountants. From external
aspects, firstly, with the rapid development in science and technology, more and more advanced and

The Plea Bargain Is A Vital Part Of The Criminal Justice...
The plea bargain is a vital part of the criminal justice system today. Before the 1800s when an offender
was caught there would be a trial and verdict. The plea bargain are for defendant s to plead guilty to a
lesser offense or to at least one charge especially if there are multiple indictments. Defendants will
plead guilty in hopes of leniency, and at least 90 percent of criminal cases end in a plea bargains. A
majority of criminal cases in many jurisdictions will end in a plea bargaining. In the case North
Carolina v. Alford, Mr. Alford is accused of Capital murder. The penalty for a guilty plea is
imprisonment for life, however, if the defendant pleads innocent and the jury rules him guilty the
death penalty attaches. Prior to the trial, Mr. Alford accepted a plea bargain. The bargaining requires
him to plead guilty to murder in the second degree, the penalty of which is 30 years.
Later on Alford does appeals his case, stating that his agreement to the bargain was involuntary as it
was driven by fear of the death penalty. Mr. Alford s conviction was overturned however, the Supreme
Court states that a guilty plea is a voluntary decision and is not compelled within his Fifth Amendment
rights of Self Incrimination. In a 6 to 3 decision, the Court then reverses the appeal and reinstates his
conviction. This is a great example of how the option of plea bargaining continues to be controversial.
This case shows how plea bargaining can work both in favor and negatively

human like intelligent behavior and consisted of two phases. In the first, an interrogator and two other
individuals were placed in separate rooms and were only able to communicate with each other through
the use of remote terminals. The interrogator would then determine which individual was male or

Chicago Meatpacking History
History of the Back of the Yards
Running from west Pershing Road, around south Western Avenue, west Garfield Boulevard, and
ending at the intersection with south Halsted Street and west Pershing Road lies the neighborhood,
New City, also known as the Back of the Yards. Canaryville is also another neighborhood that lies
within New City.
The establishment of the Union Stock Yards in 1865 led to the expansion of meatpacking in southside
Chicago. Before private stock yards were created, tavern owners provided land and care for cattle
herds waiting to be sold. With the increasing service of railroads throughout the United States, small

depicts a young man and woman who have recently immigrated to Chicago from Lithuania. They have
a wedding feast at a bar in Packingown. The couple and some of their relatives go to Chicago for a
better life but Packingtown, the center of the city s meatpacking industry, is dangerous, filthy, and
hard. It was also difficult to find a job. The couple become a hundred dollars in debt to the
saloonkeeper and Jurgis has faith in the American dream that he could just work harder to make more
money. They go through struggles with hard laboring jobs such as digging freight tunnels (which
resulting in him going to the hospital), getting arrested because of attacking a man for not giving him
correct change, he starts to commit crimes such as burglaries and soon gets recruited to work for a
corrupt political boss. His spirit soon gets crushed by misery and wanders into a socialist political rally
which fills Jurgis with inspiration through a speech. He finds a job as a porter at a socialist run hotel
and later reunites with wife. This story is filled with signs of corruption and immorality. A big symbol
in this story was the animals and slaughterhouses of Packingtown which represent the working class.
Just like the animals were killed with impunity, made to suffer and had no choice about their fate, so
were thousands of immigrant workers who lived in poverty. They were forced into capitalism. Waves

Chivalry And Froissart s Image Of The Hundred Years War
Chivalry as a concept is something that has baffled many medieval historians over the years. Chivalry
was supposing a code that knights and nobles were to live their lives by however like many social
structures of the past historians have debated over what exactly chivalry was. According to Sir Walter
Scott chivalry was meant to be a code which knights could aspire to not necessarily carry out. His
description does seem to be accurate. Chivalric principles could not be carried out in real life.
Froissart s image of The Hundred Years War are romanticised in such a way that the historian must be
careful not to take a lot of the text too seriously. Perhaps we should forgive Froissart for this,
compared to modern standards his accuracy would fall short simply given the time he lived in. His
accounts often came from supposed eyewitnesses that would of course have manipulated their
accounts to suit themselves. Therefore when reading Froissart s Chronicles and concluding whether or
not his accounts are accurate one must take caution and remember the purpose of his writings and who
he is working for when completing them. Froissart s intentions are quite obvious from the beginning
of the text. He claims ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. Essay about International Differences International Differences Did you ever think about what it takes for an international student to come to America for a college education? They have to leave their family and friends, just as we do, but at a much farther distance. I cannot imagine amount of money and time it must take to plan a trip across the world, all for a new, exciting learning experience. Right now, many of us have just moved to a large university and begun a life on our own. It seems like a tough idea to grasp when you are just starting to look at colleges, while still in high school or another point in your life. When the time comes, though, hopefully you will be ready for a change. International students have to live through this same situation, at an even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She likes the Iowa State campus, as it is comfortable to her. I asked Jennifer what some of the differences are here in America as compared to Indonesia. She said that the classes in her city were small and students were to shy to ask questions. Here, there are larger classes and more active students. She also said that people converse a lot more here than in Indonesia. Americans spend a lot more time interacting in this way. One trivial fact I learned was that in Indonesia you become boyfriend or girlfriend with someone before you go on any dates. Here, of course, it is usually the opposite case. Jennifer also told me of a few similarities she has noticed while spending time in the U.S. First, we are all students, working toward a goal. Each person has his or her own personal goal and way of working. Also, group work is an enormous part of the Iowa State community. She said that in Indonesia, group work is not encouraged quite as much, but it is still an important element of a good education. Also, imagine what international students think about the terrorism of the last week. Can you believe that it might be tough for them to handle the American s sad and angry feelings? Do you think they might be worrying about their family and friends back home? I believe that it is hard for anyone to endure a change in life. During these hard times, it seems natural for cultures to pull together and work as one. There are 2,516 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Epidemiological Assessment Essay Epidemiological Assessment Ideally, the advantages Information Technology workers in the Santa Clara county and globally enjoy in terms of high income, high education and access to an array of employer provided resources should warrant excellent health outcomes. But surprisingly, studies from different countries have pointed out several health issues in IT workers like ocular discomforts, musculo skeletal problems, and metabolic syndrome. These health issues have been attributed to their sedentary lifestyle, occupational stress and prolonged use of computer (Shrivastava Bobhate, 2012). More recently, mental health issues like anxiety, depression which largely go undiagnosed and untreated have been reported in IT workers in the United ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Shrivastava Bhopate, 2012). The most common overuse injury associated with computer use is Carpel Tunnel syndrome (Ali Sathiyasekaran, 2006). The musculo skeletal problems are significantly related to the number of working hours. Computer vision syndrome and musculoskeletal problems are increasing among software professionals globally. To reduce vision and musculo skeletal morbidities, interventions should focus on redesigning and improving workstation ergonomics (Shrivastava Bhopate, 2012). Globally, information technology is one of the fastest growing industry. This growth puts a lot of pressure on IT professionals to deliver efficiently. There is constant pressure of competition, targets, meeting aggressive deadlines, rapid obsolescence of skills, and working long hours. The job stress coupled with poor diet and low physical activity is a perfect cocktail for morbidities in this population. A study exploring the occupational stress, mental health and coping among IT professionals in Hyderabad, India revealed that job stress and not job satisfaction or dissatisfaction affected the wellbeing of employees (Rao Chandraiah, 2012). Study of IT employees of Canandian technology firms concluded that stress, anxiety and depression are high among tech workers (Sutton, 2003). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Without a doubt, the verbal communication is very critical in the development of a therapeutic nurse patient relationship bringing about respect, understanding, sincerity as well as empathy (Marshall Stevens, 2015). Non verbal communication Although it is clear that verbal communication establishes a nurse patient relationship, the non verbal communication includes the best part of an interpersonal relationship between the two parties. Both communications have equal importance, but studies show that non verbal aspect of communication is more efficient than the verbal communication. There are non verbal actions that are seen to be indispensable in the nursing care, smiling, eye gaze, body position and head nodding; these actions are well known as body language (DeWit O Neill,2014). It is through cautious deliberation of the nonverbal actions that nurses are in a position to gain a broad sight to the patient s emotional needs with their experiences. For a nurse to show empathy and warm, they ought to make eye contacts with the patients. Nevertheless, eye contact is a different exemption in non verbal communication. It exposes the hidden with deep feelings which can never be articulated in any other way which might work out during the nurse patient connection. The reason McDonald s has been succeeded in the fast food industry is the value of money of their products, and the fast clean and friendly environment. • 9. John Stuart Mills Theory Of Punishment To me punishment is a phrase that is best learned by children and criminals. As we grow up in life we learn what you can and cannot do by pushing it to the edge, seeing just how far you can go before being punished. We push those limits through our school, peers, family, society or the criminal justice system. When experiencing punishment in life, if bestowed correctly the teacher will teach the student a life long lesson. This is why when an individual has done something dishonorable he or she should be punished as quickly and close as possible to the time and or place of the incident. If punishment is long delayed, the connection between it and the offense becomes stained. It makes no sense to punish an individual who has behaved properly ... The Rise and Fall of Dynasties in China The rise and fall of dynasties in china Introduction Rhoads Murphey describes the history of China history is on the succession of dynasties that ruled it over a period of time until around 1912 when Republic of china was formed before rising to the current People s Republic of China was formed in 1949. In China, a dynasty was made up of Kings or emperors that came from the same family. They ruled in succession where a king could be inherited by his son or his immediate relatives. Although china s history is majorly regarded on the basis of dynastic ruling, other small kingdoms were established that ruled different part of china. For example, in 200AD, the fall of great Han dynasty triggered formation of smaller kingdoms all over the china which were later united by a short lived Sui Dynasty that reigned between 580 and 618 AD. In Murphey s book varied dynasties have been described how they came to power and how they eventually collapsed. From his book, various reasons for dynastic rise in china can be summarized as follows; most dynasties were founded through force and especially when there was disorder in a given dynasty. This could even break into a fight and those who won could take up and rule for a period of time waiting to be overthrown by other powerful people. Dynasty could also rise as a result of leaders who were very powerful and vigourous. These leaders could create their own stable and prosperous kingdom that secured it territories and people. ... Godard and Hitchcock are known for their outlandish, but revolutionary plays on storytelling. Tarantino does not abide by any rules in his film. The film has three different stories that are intertwined to create one film. Tarantino borrows this technique from Hitchcock. Bates Motel displays the story of Marion dies in the first 40 minutes , Norman Bates, and Marion s sister and husband. • 12. The Disease Known as Diabetes 8.3 percent of Americans have a disease called diabetes mellitus, also known as diabetes. It is characterized by high blood sugar, brought on either because the pancreas is not producing enough of a hormone called insulin, which helps remove glucose from the blood, or because the cells are unresponsive to the insulin that is being produced. Three symptoms that result from this high blood sugar are polyuria, or frequent urination, polydipsia, or increased thirst, and polyphagia, or increased appetite. When the body cannot produce insulin, this is called type 1 diabetes. People with this type of diabetes usually have to inject insulin or wear an insulin pump. In contrast, when cells simply cannot use insulin correctly, the patient has type 2 diabetes. This is usually treated by increasing exercise or making adjustments to the diet, which should lower blood sugar. Finally, a third type of diabetes called gestational diabetes occurs only in pregnant women. These women have not been previously diagnosed with diabetes, rather, they have developed high blood sugar during their pregnancy. If not effectively treated by making changes to the diet, gestational diabetes can be a precursor to type 2 diabetes as well as childhood obesity and eventual diabetes in the infant. Of all cases of diabetes, only about five to ten percent are type 1. Even so, more and more people worldwide are being diagnosed every year, and the effects of the disorder are very serious if not severe on both the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most of the cars in the world have big engines right now. Big engines are made of eight cylinder (V8), ten cylinder (V10), or twelve cylinder (V12 / W12). Those types of engines have been used for many years in the car industry. After introducing the Cayenne, they also started to produce four door coupe alike sedan called Panamera with the same engine options in 2011. Porsche mostly used their V8 engines in their four door cars until 2014, but after that year they started to downsize their engines because of the new emission rules that their government released. By those new reduced emission regulations, Porsche become one of the first sports car manufacturers that started to downsize their engines. Downsizing the engine is pretty simple. They are actually taking 4.8 liter, eight cylinder V8 engine and changing it with the 3.6 liter, six cylinder V6 engine. When they are downsizing the engine, they are also adding that engine a turbocharger to make it much powerful as the bigger engine. (Turbocharger is helping the engine to get more air to the pistons to increase its performance) Most of the Porsche customers thought bigger engines are stronger and it makes the car go faster, but actually it is not true because when they add turbochargers to the new downsized engine, it makes the car much powerful as the old models. Another thing about the downsizing the engine is the fact that, when the manufacturer makes the engine smaller, they are actually making the car lighter too and that lighter car goes faster on the road than the previous models because it has ... • 21. The World s Total Fertility Rate What to Expect When No One is Expecting Reflective Analysis As our global population count continues to exponentially climb, many people are under the impression the world is overpopulated. A lot of society wonders how we will be able to sustain such a large population. An overpopulated planet could cause or enhance problems such as natural resource depletion, global climate change, and starvation. The majority of people believe overpopulation is our world s most crucial problem, including me. Or at least I did before I read What to Expect When No One is Expecting. This book definitely made me think twice. What to Expect When No One is Expecting, by Jonathan Last, argues how overpopulation will not be a challenge for future generations. In fact, the book shares how married couples are not having enough babies. Statistically, in the last forty years, the world s total fertility rate (TFR) has decreased from 6.0 to 2.52. Meaning, the average woman is having 4.48 less children in her lifetime. At first glance, this statistic seems like a good thing, but in reality it is expected to have a devastating effect. What to Expect When No One is Expecting convinced me the world doesn t have an overpopulation problem by explaining how economics is a major cause of the lowered fertility rates, and consequently, because there are less babies, the economy will take the biggest hit. Today, in America, the TFR stands at 1.93 and continues to fall. However, the average American couple ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. Essay On Populism There are, of course, other definitions of populism that are worth at least exploring. One particularly popular book has been What is Populism by Princeton professor Jan Werner Müller. His definition asserts that Populism is a moralistic imagination of politics that is anti pluralist and claims exclusive representation of the people. (Müller 2016, Pg. 20) Ironically, he uses Wallace s Segregation forever comment to support this claim. We actually argue that this moment was the attaching of populism to nativist ideology in order to build a winning coalition (as is attested by Wallace himself), not an actual expression of populism itself (Rowan 1991). We reject his definition on several grounds. The first is the premise that populists must necessarily be anti pluralist. There is no ground in which this must be the case. In fact, populist voting populations must be pluralistic in and of themselves, because as he makes clear, there is no such thing as a homogenous people in existence. When researching the roles of management accountant in both past and recent years, it is obvious to find that things have changed a lot. This essay is going to briefly introduce both the past and the recent roles of management accountants first. Then discuss the reasons for management accountants changing role. After that the analysis of the advantages this changing role will bring about and the limitations it has will be given. Finally, some suggestions about how to treat this changing role in today s economic environment will be offered. In past years, traditional management accountants are score keepers , they provide information to facilitate the process of assessing organization s actual performance against its planned activity (Burns, Quinn, Warren, Oliveira, 2010). They mainly make people do what they are expected to do. While now they are acting as internal consultants of the company. They spend less time on routine tasks and more time on giving advice to managers to help them to develop a business sensitivity in making decisions. Before the 1800s when an offender was caught there would be a trial and verdict. The plea bargain are for defendant s to plead guilty to a lesser offense or to at least one charge especially if there are multiple indictments. Defendants will plead guilty in hopes of leniency, and at least 90 percent of criminal cases end in a plea bargains. A majority of criminal cases in many jurisdictions will end in a plea bargaining. In the case North Carolina v. Alford, Mr. Alford is accused of Capital murder. The penalty for a guilty plea is imprisonment for life, however, if the defendant pleads innocent and the jury rules him guilty the death penalty attaches. Prior to the trial, Mr. Alford accepted a plea bargain. The bargaining requires him to plead guilty to murder in the second degree, the penalty of which is 30 years. Later on Alford does appeals his case, stating that his agreement to the bargain was involuntary as it was driven by fear of the death penalty. Mr. Alford s conviction was overturned however, the Supreme Court states that a guilty plea is a voluntary decision and is not compelled within his Fifth Amendment rights of Self Incrimination. In a 6 to 3 decision, the Court then reverses the appeal and reinstates his conviction. This is a great example of how the option of plea bargaining continues to be controversial. Chicago Meatpacking History History of the Back of the Yards Running from west Pershing Road, around south Western Avenue, west Garfield Boulevard, and ending at the intersection with south Halsted Street and west Pershing Road lies the neighborhood, New City, also known as the Back of the Yards. Canaryville is also another neighborhood that lies within New City. The establishment of the Union Stock Yards in 1865 led to the expansion of meatpacking in southside Chicago. Before private stock yards were created, tavern owners provided land and care for cattle herds waiting to be sold. The story depicts a young man and woman who have recently immigrated to Chicago from Lithuania. They have a wedding feast at a bar in Packingown. The couple and some of their relatives go to Chicago for a better life but Packingtown, the center of the city s meatpacking industry, is dangerous, filthy, and hard. It was also difficult to find a job. The couple become a hundred dollars in debt to the saloonkeeper and Jurgis has faith in the American dream that he could just work harder to make more money. They go through struggles with hard laboring jobs such as digging freight tunnels (which resulting in him going to the hospital), getting arrested because of attacking a man for not giving him correct change, he starts to commit crimes such as burglaries and soon gets recruited to work for a corrupt political boss. His spirit soon gets crushed by misery and wanders into a socialist political rally which fills Jurgis with inspiration through a speech. He finds a job as a porter at a socialist run hotel and later reunites with wife. This story is filled with signs of corruption and immorality. A big symbol in this story was the animals and slaughterhouses of Packingtown which represent the working class. Just like the animals were killed with impunity, made to suffer and had no choice about their fate, so were thousands of immigrant workers who lived in poverty. They were forced into capitalism. Waves of animals pass through Packingtown, just as the generations of immigrants continue to eventually be replaced by a new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. Chivalry And Froissart s Image Of The Hundred Years War Chivalry as a concept is something that has baffled many medieval historians over the years. Chivalry was supposing a code that knights and nobles were to live their lives by however like many social structures of the past historians have debated over what exactly chivalry was. According to Sir Walter Scott chivalry was meant to be a code which knights could aspire to not necessarily carry out. His description does seem to be accurate. Chivalric principles could not be carried out in real life. Froissart s image of The Hundred Years War are romanticised in such a way that the historian must be careful not to take a lot of the text too seriously. Perhaps we should forgive Froissart for this, compared to modern standards his accuracy would fall short simply given the time he lived in. His accounts often came from supposed eyewitnesses that would of course have manipulated their accounts to suit themselves. Therefore when reading Froissart s Chronicles and concluding whether or not his accounts are accurate one must take caution and remember the purpose of his writings and who he is working for when completing them. Froissart s intentions are quite obvious from the beginning of the text. He claims ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In many ways comparisants can be drawn from feudalism.
