I don t view this issue as something to be taken lightly. But after reading The
Chrysanthemums, I got the impression the author was trying to suppress the issue
by never addressing the subject openly. He made it feels like his purpose wasn t
really about defending women s intelligence. If it s the subject he decided to
defend, shouldn t he go all the way and don t hold back? Except, I feel he did hold
back and tried to bury the subject under a tone of unnecessary details. In a too long
and too slow pace, Steinbeck didn t skimp on the overflowing of never ending

left me, no way nearer to understand the purpose behind Steinbeck words. It is so
aggravating that I kept expecting something to happen to the characters at every turn,
something that would bring to life the true meaning behind Steinbeck words. But, I

Now throughout my life, being the oldest son, and brother I have always felt that I
needed to set the example for the rest of my family. I ve felt that I needed to be the
pillar of strength to carry my family, my parents always made me believe that if I
was strong then everyone else around me would benefit. Emotionally as a child I
felt shut off from the world because I would be struck/scowled for crying, or even
if I d show the slightest bit of what my parent s called overconfidence , which is
basically any type of trying to feel good about my accomplishments in any form.
But of course I was always expected to perform at the peak and be above everyone.
For this type of upbringing I was isolated from the rest of my peers, emotionally

was really important.
I felt the exact same in that I only thought I knew what was really important, now that
I have moved out on my own, I finally understand that what is important changes with

Prediction
I predict that when the sucrose concentration is low the potato chip will gain mass.
This is because there will be a higher sucrose concentration in the potato chip so
water will go into the potato from the solution. I predict that when there is a high
concentration of sucrose the potato will lose mass. This is because there is a higher

I will measure their length with a ruler in mm and their mass on the scales in g. I
will have two potato chips in each test tube so that I can take an average of the two
masses and lengths at each concentration to make it more accurate. The independent
variable will be the concentration of the sucrose solution. I will do the experiment at
five different levels of concentration; 1mol, 0.75 mol 0.5 mol, 0.25 mol, 0 mol.
