I hate being complacent. I try to fight complacency in all aspects of my life from

roads and the amount of construction that takes place. Many streets have been taken

in a bleak setting and it relates to magical realism because for some reason my
brother caught me at the perfect time. Those genres are similar because they both use
supernatural events to explain them.
Gothic literature and magical realism are similar for the sake of them build off
each other taking real life places or relatable characters put in an eccentric celestial
world. In Edgar Allen Poe s Fall in the house Usher Edgar reveals the darkest
aspects of the human mind and heart were remarkably revealing and what it means
to be human. Rodrick buries his blood related sister who is alive while the narrator
watched. (Pg 13). Or Joyce Carol Oates s Where is Here Bulb flicker when the old
man leaves the house. The elderly man takes control of the characters heads and
made the father insane (Pg76). Relatable characters disturbed by the mythical

For my Installation piece I have decided to explore the idea of The Baroque Art Era.
The Baroque is a period of artistic style that concentrated on exaggerated processes
and lavish designs.
Starting in Rome in the early 1600 s, The Baroque style began after the Roman
Church was in the middle of monumental internal reform, attempting to address the
representation of the arts within the society of the time. They believed that a change
in the way art was delivered to the masses was necessary to reach a larger audience.
The Council of Trent believed that the paintings and sculptures in the church needed
to appeal to the masses and therefore their context and story should be able to speak
to the illiterate and not just the well educated and informed. This consequently saw
the style turn deliberately from the witty, intellectual characteristics of the 16th
century Mannerist art, to a more internal appeal aimed at the senses. It created an art
that was direct, simple and obvious but theatrical.

As a child all I wanted to do was rule the world, I noticed early on in my childhood
