‘New Models to Drive Manufacturing Growth in India’
The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India had launched the ‘Make in India’ initiative to place India
on the world map as a manufacturing hub. The Government of India has set up an ambitious
target of increasing the contribution of manufacturing output to 25% of GDP from the present
17% and creation of up to 90 million jobs by 2025. There is also a growing awareness that the
Indian manufacturing sector must adopt advanced technologies and scientific methods to
survive in a highly competitive global environment. This session will bring together CEO’s of
select companies, which have deployed distinctive manufacturing strategies, to share their
experiences on growth and transformation.

Marking its decennial anniversary this year, the Champions for Societal Manufacturing
Program has revolutionized Indian manufacturing systems and practices by leveraging
Japanese manufacturing managerial excellence. This breakthrough initiative by CII & JICA is
an attestation of the scope of partnership between India & Japan to embark on a journey of
mutual transformation by building on the gains of a decade long engagement. Under the aegis
of VLFM/CSM Program, 1000 Visionary SME Program, the Senior Manager’s and the Middle
Level Manager’s Program, close to 5000 graduates & over 1000 SMEs have benefitted through
enhanced global competitiveness and global recognition for their products. This session will
present case studies of select companies that have been through the VLFM/CSM program on
key themes that have made impact on the larger Indian manufacturing eco-system.
