Our first few days in Denmark included arriving at the school, being greeted by students, eating typical Danish food and candy, and being shown around the school. We stayed with Danish families who had meals at different times than in Spain. The following days involved activities like going to school, playing with Legos, going ice skating, visiting museums, shopping, watching handball matches, and having fun with our host families. The last few days were spent finishing our school projects, saying goodbye to students from other countries, and feeling sad to leave Denmark after having such a positive experience.
Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2. AN UNFORGETTABLE AND UNIQUE
EXPERIENCE.
• Our first day began by getting up at 3 o'clock in the morning. We left for the airport and it was time to go to Denmark. The trip lasted
about two hours and forty-five minutes. We arrived at the school and they were all waiting for us, we greeted them and we went to
eat the typical food from there. Then they went to show us the school and we were tasting the typical candies from there. Later the
parents came and we took our bags and went to the houses. All Danish people have lunch at at twelve-fifteen in the morning and
have dinner at five-thirty in the afternoon, because the sun sets at this time. The first night we had Spanish food like pizza, lasagna,
sandwiches ... About eleven o'clock at night we went to sleep because next day we got up early to go to school.
3. OUR SECOND DAY, IN THE
SCHOOL.
• Our second day started with breakfast at eight in the morning and going to school. In the school we were reunited and the teachers
showed us what we were going to do that day. We were presented with lego ideas that they showed us in a paper, as for example
represent our job in the future. When we finished we all ate and we were in the pool. Natalia, Maria, Laura and Anne in the
afternoon went to skate to a natural ice rink next to a lake full of animals, and there they met Juanjo and Rasmus, and we had a
good afternoon. While Angela and Paula spent a good afternoon with their families. Then we had hot chocolate and went to the
house with the families. We had dinner and we when to bed at eleven o´clock.
4. SUNDAY, THIRD DAY IN DENMARK
•In the morning Angela, Maria and I went to see a handball match, it was very funny and we ate cookies that were delicious although
the cakes were not so much. Natalia was shopping in a town called Urish and David too. Juan visited a museum. In the afternoon
Natalia, Maria and Angela went together to play bowling and they had dinner in Mc Donalds and David, Juanjo and I in our houses.
•It was a fun day with our families from Denmark and we went to bed early because next day we had to go to school.
5. MONDAY,OUR FOURTH DAY THERE
• On Monday, we woke up very early because we had to be in the school at quarter past eight. Matilde and I dressed up and we had
breakfast. I walked to school with Matilde, Paula and Malou. That day, we did a presentation game all together and then the teachers
separated us. I showed the videos with Natalia in one class, Maria and Paula in another and David and Juanjo in the next. When we
finished it was lunchtime, Danish people didn´t eat much. When school finished, Maria, Juanjo, David and Natalia went home, and
Paula and I stayed at the school with Malou, Matilde and two more girls waiting for the bus, because that afternoon we went
shopping at Silkeborg. Maria and Juanjo were in a shopping center with Anne and Rasmus, David was with Daniel at William's
house and Natalia was at home with Laura. When we got home, we had dinner and then we had a shower. We played “UNO” with
her family and at ten o´clock we went to bed.
6. TUESDAY, IN SILKEBORG
•On Tuesday we went to school at the same time as Monday. We played Lego in groups, in my group we were three Danish, a
Swedish, Juanjo and I. At ten o´clock a bus took us to a city near Kjellerup called Silkeborg. We went to an art museum and an
aquarium. The best thing was when we were left alone around the city, we went to many clothing stores and ate a delicious waffle. We
had a great time there. At five o´clock a bus took us to the school and we went back to our homes.
•Later, at six o´clock I went to see a handball match with Maria, Anne, Natalia, Laura and Matilde. We got home at half-past nine, it was
time to sleep.
7. WEDNESDAY, PARTY, PARTY
On Wednesday we went to school as a normal day, we started to record our films as a group, my group was composed by Aggelos a
Greek, Aino, a Finnish, Lucas, Sofia and Bad, the Danish and me. Our film was about an information studio where two Danish people
traveled to different countries to see how life was going, the truth is that it was pretty cool. In the afternoon we were at five at school and
we saw all the movies, they gave us a diploma and a keyring. We took photos and ate pizza, while we were eating they said the
winners, David’s group won, then we danced and played games and we took slush with popcorn, at nine we went home because next
day was going to be a very long day for the other countries that went back home.
8. THURSDAY, BYE, BYE.
• On Thursday we went to school at nine o'clock to say goodbye to the Finns and the Swedish, as the classes that
day did not start until half past ten we went to buy something for lunch, then we showed the videos in the sixth and
final lessons. After lunch we did physical education, we played a very entertaining type of football. When the
lessons finished my family took me to eat a hot dog, after that Maria, Angela and I went to handball, after dinner we
had roasted chicken with chorizo in Maria's house, for dessert we had waffles, we played games and at half past
nine we went home bacause next day we had to wake up early.
9. LEGO
Here we were playing with lego, for us it was difficult because they told us to
build very complicated things.
11. BYE BYE DENMARK
On Friday we met at the airport, we said goodway to our partners and their families and we passed the
controls. We bought a lot of things for our family because we didn´t find anything to buy in Silkeborg.
Also we sat in a bar but we need to change because we had to buy things from another bar. Later we
went into the plane, we were separated and we couldn´t take other seatts because the plane was full.
When we arrived to Spain, we picked up our suitcases and we met with our parents. We were happy
because we saw our parents but sad because we liked Denmark so much.
12. FINALLY
We liked this trip very much and we have learned more than we
thought, all the people were very friendly and we would repeat it
again. It has been a very good experience.
