In Greece, December traditions center around Christmas celebrations for children. Families decorate Christmas trees together early in the month and make traditional sweets like "Koyrabiedes" and "Melomakarona" to fill homes with wonderful smells. Important religious name days are celebrated on December 6th, 25th and January 1st. Children sing carols from house to house on December 24th, 31st and January 5th as part of the seasonal festivities.
