The days after Christmas include celebrations of Jesus Christ's Baptism on January 6th known as Theofania or Epiphany. Children sing carols on this day and the eve before, and swimmers compete to catch a cross in the river and receive gifts. On New Year's Eve, children sing carols to receive money while families have meals. That evening, a pie called "King's pie" is made with a coin baked inside, and lights are turned off at midnight before reopening eyes to "enter the year with a new light". After fireworks, the pie is cut and the person receiving the coin is blessed for the year.
