12. “Let‘s act together!“
The project “Let’s act together” will
enable the students of three Baltic
countries to analyse and deal with a
current problem in today’s life – the
qualitative free time of teenagers and
their motivated participation in it. One of
the main tasks of school is to educate
the person who is responsible for his
nation, its culture and integration into the
global culture. However, modern
students, especially teenagers, are out of
touch with the culture and history of their
country, because the most popular form
to spend their free time nowadays is a
computer or a TV that focuses on TV
shows.
Participating in the project students will
make a research on how teenagers
spend their leisure time at school and in
the country; they will compare the results
with neighbouring countries; students will
also seek meaningful leisure forms that
promote personal development, curiosity
and willingness to learn more.

Within the project we will seek to
deepen students’ understanding of
the country’s cultural values, diversity
and similarities; to help students to
acquire basic life skills and
competences necessary for personal
development in order to become an
active citizen in Europe. There will be
three mobilities during the project.
Participants will go to the two
mobilities. They will get acquainted
with youth culture and leisure forms in
partners’ countries, they will also
create promotional videos “Stop,

encourage young people to think
about a meaningful leisure time, to
introduce the possibilities to act
actively and meaningfully.

13. On March 27-31, our school had many
guests from Latvia and Estonia because
there were held the first class exchanges
of the Nordplus project “Let’s act
together”. Students and teachers
participated in the lessons of Geography,
History, Mathematics, English, Music,
Lithuanian, and Theatre. During these
lessons, the students deepened their
knowledge of the cultural values,
linguistic diversity and similarities of the
countries.
As the project aims are related with
solving the problem of today‘s life – the
quality of leisure time of the teenagers
and their motivated participation in it –
many of the learning activities were
linked to possible meaningful leisure
activities: the project participants did
sports, played with colours and learned
about P. Domšaitis works in Pranas
Domšaitis’ gallery, they sang, played and
danced in the Queen’s Luize Youth
Centre.

Participants went to the Curonian Spit,
where became acquainted with the
unique nature, cultural heritage and
made their own weathervanes.
During the meeting the guests got
acquainted with Lithuanian youth culture,
forms of teenagers‘ leisure time, worked
in mixed groups to create promotional
films that encourage young people to
think about meaningful leisure time and
the possibilities to spend it actively and
meaningfully. At the end of the meeting,
there was a review of films and
discussions.
It was fun to study together! And it’s sad
to say good bye…
Meetings
September 25th – 29th Nordplus Junior
project’s “Let’s act together!” students
and teachers met for the second time
days in Kusa’s school in Latvia. On the
first day, we were put in mixed groups
and participated in 4 lessons – English,
Biology, Art and Physical education. All
of the lessons were very interesting.
On Tuesday, we went to Madona. While
working in groups again, we made
caramel candy, drew on rocks and
threaded beads into our country’s flag.
We had an interesting day on
Wednesday – we went to Cesvaine. We
visited its famous castle and discovered
the wonderful history of it. Then we went
to the Youth Center, where we learned a
few new games for learning English or
any other language. After these classes,
we got a surprise – the performance of
girls’ musical group. They turned out to
be really great and we had the
opportunity to go on stage and sing
together.
On Thursday, we participated in several
activities at the Leisure Center located at
Kusa School: we sang, cooked waffles,
bread and pies for the Friday fair, we
also played orienteering games outside
and made the Kusa Town Badge.
Friday was the saddest day of the week,
but that does not mean that it was the
worst. At school we had St. Michael’s
Fair, where everybody had the
opportunity to sell what they had made
themselves. Everyone was amazed with
beautiful handicrafts, baked bread,
muffins and cakes. A little later, we
danced and played traditional Latvian,
Lithuanian and Estonian dances and
games. At the end of the event, all
participants were given certificates.
Everyone had a hard time saying
goodbye but the promise of meeting
again kept everyone positive. If not in
Estonia, then at least in some other
corner of the world we will all meet again.
This week spent in Latvia has once again
proved that there are really interesting
and meaningful ways of spending your
free time!

14. Let’s act together!Project Fair
March 18-23 a meeting of participants of
the Nordplus Junior project “Let’s act
together!” was held in Tartu, Estonia. On
Monday, together with Latvian and
Estonian students we participated in
music, Estonian, physical education and
chemistry lessons at Tartu Mart Reinik
school. Later we visited the most popular
scientific and cultural objects of Tartu. It
was interesting not only to look at the
objects but also that the tour was led by
a Lithuanian woman currently living in
Tartu.
On Tuesday, we visited the ancient
Rakvere castle. There was an interesting
test there – we could feel the medieval
spirit and life – archery, parakeet
production, a shame pole and even a
frightening road to hell. We also tested
our yet unfamiliar and new activity –
weaving baskets. The baskets will sure
remind us of a meaningful stay in Estonia
for a long time.
On Wednesday morning, we met at
school. There we had rehearsals with the
school‘s orchestra: we sang and played
a song that we had learned on Monday.
Then we went to Tartu‘s science center
AHHAA, where we saw and participated
in many different activities. We could lay
on nails, get through the labyrinth of
mirrors, see how kitchen electronics
work, watch how chicks get out of an egg
and how ants live. The greatest
impression has been made by the most

extreme activities –cycling on a rope at a
few metres high and the astronaut
simulator. There is the only european
spherical planetarium in which we
became acquainted with the wonderful
world of planets and stars but that’s not
all. After eating lunch we went to an aqua
park “Aura”, where we had a fun and
happy time.
On Thursday the meeting took place in
school. Everyone was separated into 3
groups and had 3 lessons: origami,
woodwork and technology – using a
decoupage technique we decorated
candles and made nesting-boxes for
birds. After lunch we played a game
similar to “Alias” which has been created
by an Estonian IT teacher. After that we
created movies about free time activities.
When everyone finished we went
bowling.
On Friday we learned some traditional
Estonian dances, watched our movies
about free time activities and by playing
Kahoot we tested our knowledge about
the Baltic countries. After lunch the
participants of class exchanges were
served with certificates, summed up
meeting activities. It was time to say
goodbye to everyone. The road home
didn’t last for too long – we were back in
a moment.
