6. INTERNATIONAL OIL POLLUTION PREVENTION CERTIFICATE
• The IOPP certificate is issued to each new ship after an
appointed surveyor has inspected it and found it to be in
compliance with the MARPOL convention. The IOPP
certificate gives details of all oily water separation and
filtering equipment and also the associated monitoring
equipment required under the convention.

Prevention Certificate
• The discharge of raw sewage into the sea can
create a health hazard. Sewage can also lead
to oxygen depletion and can be an obvious
visual pollution in coastal areas.

• Each ship which has rechargeable systems that
contain ozone depleting substances shall
maintain an Ozone Depleting Substances Record
Book.
