This document discusses how social housing providers measure the social impact of their community investment activities. It provides initial findings from interviews with 34 housing providers and 6 case studies. The case studies explored different measurement methods including SROI, views, Every Child Matters framework, and social accounting. Key factors for an effective approach include having a shared understanding of measurement purposes and limitations, how data will be used, and ensuring the method fits the organization. Commitment from leadership and allowing time to transition and learn are also important.
