“We want that Education
by which Character is
Formed, Strength of mind
is increased, the intellect
is expanded and by which
one can stand on one’s own
feet”
2
Value…..?
• Refers to Ethics and Morality
• Refers to Behavioural Attitude
• Refers to Respect and Trustworthiness
• Refers to Integrity
3
Why to Talk about Values…..?
• The present youth are greatly influenced
and affected by the violence, cheating,
bribing, disrespect to others and society
and unethical practices in the society
• Youth must therefor be guided to
inculcate tolerance, peace, respect, caring
and honesty at school and college levels
4
Why to Talk about Values…..?
• Institutions should help students to
build their ‘Character’ along with
‘Career’
• With Value based education children go
through ‘Positive Experiences’ and
‘Empowering Choices’.
• What children learn is later reflected in
the society.
5
What Happens when you talk
about Values in the class….?
6
Students’ Attitude in the class….?
7
How to introduce Values in a Class?
8
Direct teaching/preaching?
9
How to introduce Values in a Class?
• Introducing in between normal lessons?
• What are the other avenues?
Way out….
• Encourage students to form clubs on
varied themes such as ‘Green’, ‘Social’,
etc…
10
11
Way out….
Involve them in activities wherein
students directly take part in social
activities and interact with society
A Few Activities for students….
• Visiting nearby orphanage and helping
the inmates with love and affection
apart from materialistic help
12
13

Clean Up
A Few Activities for students….
Taking students to a nearby Government
School and involving them in teaching the
children on any topic under the sky
14

15
A Few Activities for students….
A Few Activities for students….
Involving the students in providing
Technical Solution to existing problems in
the Society.
16
A Few Activities for students….
Organising Street Play on Social Issues
17
Leadership Avenue Helps….
Well observed fact:
“The leadership opportunity given to
students will kindle all sorts of humanity
in them”
18
Inculcate Values in Students…
19
Greatest Challenge…
Who will lead the Value Education in the
College?
20
Greatest Challenge…
• The teacher must Practice before
Preaching
• A True leader will ‘Lead’ from Front and
does not merely Direct from Back
21
Train the Leader…
• The first step is to train the teachers
through Faculty Development Programmes
• Start with a small group and spread it
across the teaching community
• Train the Student Leaders and encourage
them to lead the student group
22
Summary
• Value Based education is the need of the
hour
• In the absence of University Requirements
for a value based education, introduce
Voluntary Value Based Education to
Students
• Train the Teachers and Develop a system
to keep the Value added Education
Programmes as a Continuous Process.
23
All is Well……

Thank You
