VALUE EDUCATION
•Values are the beliefs which a society or the large
majority of the society members hold. The word value is
derived from Latin term ‘Valerie’. It means strong and
vigorous. In our ancient Philosophy the meaning of value
is widely accepted as satyam, shivam, shundaram(truth,
goodness and beauty).
• Value Education is a process of increasing the
overall character of a student, it also includes
character development, personality development
and spiritual development, it develops a sensible
person with strong character and values.
NEED FOR VALUE EDUCATION
•We know today children are tomorrow’s citizens. And if we give
good education of present day children the future of the next
generation will be well. Value oriented education is that which
leads the individual to realize his potential and to achieve
something higher in life.
• It helps students to accept and respect the behaviours
of those who differ from them selves.
• Value education teaches us to preserve whatever is good
and worthwhile , in what we have inherited from our
culture .
• Value education involves teaching of values as well as
practice of values of high order so that the students rise above
their And selfish idea.
ROLE OF TEACHER IN VALUE EDUCATION
The teacher have a great role to play in inculcating values in students.
“If a country is to be corruption free and become a nation of
beautiful minds, there are three key societal members who can
make a difference and they are the father, the mother and the
teacher.”
Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam

plays the most important role in shaping the students as enlightened

teachers- “Arise, Awake and Stop not till the goal is achieved”.
