GenAI can help improve teaching and learning by providing personalized feedback and recommendations to students based on their progress, strengths and weaknesses. It can analyze large amounts of open educational resources and course materials to help educators develop customized lesson plans and learning paths for different students. By automating certain administrative and repetitive tasks, GenAI also allows teachers to focus more on one-on-one support and guidance for students.
The ICDE OER Advocacy Committee is hosting an event to promote open educational resources on a global scale. Attendees will learn about the committee's role in advocating for OER implementation and how OER aligns with UNESCO's goals of inclusive, equitable education. The agenda includes presentations from the committee chair and ambassadors on global OER initiatives, innovative working groups, and the role of OER in achieving quality education for all as outlined in the UNESCO 2030 Agenda. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in a panel discussion and online Padlet forum on transforming education through open resources and removing boundaries to learning.

31. Såväl i Sverige som i övriga västvärlden har
distansutbildningens volym ökat kraftigt under 2000-
talet, och motsvarande, kanske ännu kraftigare utveckling kan
nu ses i Afrika och i Asien. Antalet helårsstudenter, dvs.
volymen, i distansutbildning vid svenska universitet och
högskolor har ökat från 20 000 till 40 000 mellan läsåren
2002/03 och läsåret 2008/09. Nu motsvarar
distansutbildningen 14 procent av det totala antalet
helårsstudenter. Samtidigt är begreppet inte självklart, då
distansutbildning kan spänna över utbildningar med
varierande inslag av distans och/eller IT-stöd. Dessutom
närmar sig traditionell campusutbildning
distansutbildning i och med förekomsten av olika former
av nätbaserade stöd och moment även i campuskurserna.
I inrapporteringen av statistik definieras distansutbildning
som utbildning där lärare och studenter i huvudsak är
åtskilda i tid och/eller rum.

I lärosätenas enkätsvar på Högskoleverkets undersökning om strategier har
de ombetts att reagera på begreppsmanualens definition av distansutbildning.
De allra flesta uppger att de kan ansluta sig till definitionen, men flera lärosäten
diskuterar också problemen med en definition. Bland annat påpekas att det
finns olika varianter av distansutbildning, där det varierar hur stor flexibiliteten i tid
och rum är. Lärosätenas synpunkter redovisas i kapitlet Lärosätenas
arbete med distansutbildning.
En genomgång av lärosätenas hemsidor (2010-09-22) visar att många lärosäten
använder det etablerade ordet ”distansutbildning” för att marknadsföra
sina utbildningar mot presumtiva studenter. Ett par lärosäten använder dock
enbart ”nätbaserad utbildning”. På några lärosätens hemsidor görs en uppdelning av
”nätbaserad utbildning” och ”lärcenterbaserad utbildning” eller liknande.
