Schadow1 Expeditions is a Philippine mapping advocacy group that has been contributing data to OpenStreetMap since 2005. They organize mapping expeditions and choose OSM because it is open-source and free. During disasters, they extract updated OSM data daily to provide responders with accurate maps showing road blockages and evacuation centers. The group works with HOT to pre-map areas vulnerable to disasters and update maps based on satellite imagery during activations.

Introduction to Simple Aerial Photomapping with Balloons, Kites or other platforms (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), Radio Controlled (R/C) or piloted aircraft)
OpenSource Mapping, GPS and the Mountaineering CommunityErvin Malicdem

'Planning Reform on the island of Ireland: From Policy to Practice', Cooperat...Justin Gleeson
With the impending transfer of statutory planning functions from central government to new councils in Northern Ireland in 2015 under the Review of Public Administration (RPA) and significant changes being made to the planning system in the Republic of Ireland, this aptly timed seminar will provide plenty of opportunity for lively open debate and discussion on the important – and common – planning decisions facing both jurisdictions.
This session will demonstrate Simple Aerial Photography Mapping with Balloons or Kites. Aerial photomaps can be very useful for EWB teams for their projects and the communities they work with. Example applications include:
Community Planning
Site Planning
Land boundary adjudication
Agricultural planning
Ecological evaluations such as counting species, map mapping vegetation and habitat, etc
Document changes such as cutting of rain forest, clearing of land, etc.
Weather permitting, we'll meet outside and discuss how to do the mapping, covering what's needed to take the photos and use software to stitch them together into a single georegistered photomap. We'll fly kites or balloons to take pictures and afterwards make and share the map. We'll briefly discuss advanced topics including integration of gps data, dual-camera based multispectral imagery, 3-D Digital Elevation Models, UAVs and automated image processing.
Learning outcomes - Empower teams to make their own detailed photomaps with current conditions:
Select equipment for photomapping
Plan a safe photomapping session
Use kites or balloons to take aerial photos
Use free web-based software to stitch them together into a single georeferenced photomap
Provide references and links to on-line tools and community of users

Acetabularia Information For Class 9 .docxvaibhavrinwa19
Acetabularia acetabulum is a single-celled green alga that in its vegetative state is morphologically differentiated into a basal rhizoid and an axially elongated stalk, which bears whorls of branching hairs. The single diploid nucleus resides in the rhizoid.

2. What is Schadow1 Expeditions
• A travel and mapping advocacy resource for
the Philippines
• Started in 2012 to document experiences in
the Philippines while mapping communities,
trails, and areas of interest.
• Mapping advocacy started back in 2005 and
contributing mapping data to Google Maps,
Roadguide Philippines, OpenStreetMap, Waze
3. What is Schadow1 Expeditions
• In 2011, we have chosen OpenStreetMap as the
choice for contributing our mapping data for
being open sourced, crowdsourced and free.
• In 2009, OSM data has been extracted and
converted to Garmin offline maps.
• In 2013, Schadow1 Expeditions has taken the task
and improved the extraction, conversion and
compilation.
• OSM-based Garmin map of the Philippines
released in a weekly-basis.
7. • Over 1000 contributors nationwide
• About 50 regular contributors nationwide
• Contributors came from various professions
with a goal of helping his countrymen through
mapping data.
• With these contributors, Philippine data has
tremendously increased over a span of a few
years.
13. How big is the OpenStreetMap Data
• Number of Contributors: 3,697,679
• Number of GPS points: 5,666,184,195
• Number of Nodes: 3,870,572,882
• Number of ways: 409,729,501
• Number of relations: 4,960,885
As of May 5, 2017
14. Why OpenAerialMap
• Crowdsourced
• Clarity
• Less the cost for contributing aerial images (as
compared to satellite imagery)
• Faster turnabout
17. Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team
• Organizes and calls out humanitarian
activation of worldwide OpenStreetMap
contributors during extreme weather events.
• Request needed coverage for fresh
satellite/aerial imagery for map tracing
• Through HOT Tasks, OSM contributors can
preemptively focus mapping specific locations
using a tasking manager.
18. Schadow1 Expeditions
• Extract OSM data on a daily basis to catch up
with the mapping updates from the HOT
activation during extreme weather events of
the Philippines.
• Responders can download the file and upload
to their Garmin devices
• Can be used offline to help responders
navigate accordingly through land.
24. Planning
• Humanitarian planners use satellite imagery of a
community badly hit by the disaster.
• They pinpoint roads that may be passable or not.
And those passable can be reached via land while
those communities cut off with impassable roads
will be the subject for air dropping of relief.
• The coordinates of the blockades and areas of
concern are then taken then uploaded to a GPS
device.
26. Operations
• The GPS device with uploaded information are
then given to relief mobilizers. Those that are
passable through land can use the GPS to guide
them to passable roads so they can reach their
relief operations target.
• The same GPS device with uploaded information
are then given to relief mobilizers on air. Relief
goods are then dropped off from the air exactly
where the mission planners have indicated it on
the GPS
29. During Humanitarian Activations
• Humanitarian Activations are activated
through HOT.
• When the activation is in the Philippines,
mapping contributors are directed to update
specific locations that can be hit by disaster.
• Schadow1 Expeditions releases daily updates
of the GPS map to reflect map changes from
the activation.
