This document describes a study that used methodological triangulation to analyze students' use of recorded lectures. The study collected data through surveys of over 500 students and log files of over 4,900 students accessing over 5,000 hours of video recordings. It found that while most students reported watching recordings at home and finding them useful, the log files showed some students' self-reports did not always match their actual usage as recorded in the logs. The study concluded that using both survey and log data provides a more accurate picture of how students use recorded lectures than either data source alone.
