Several attempts had been made to analyze emotion words in the fields of linguistics, psychology and sociology; with the advent of computers, the analyses of these words have taken a different dimension. Unfortunately, limited attempts have so far been made to using interval type-2 fuzzy logic (IT2FL) to analyze these words in native languages. This study used IT2FL to analyze Igbo emotion words. IT2F sets are computed using the interval approach method which is divided into two parts: the data part and the fuzzy set part. The data part preprocessed data and its statistics computed for the interval that survived the preprocessing stages while the fuzzy set part determined the nature of the footprint of uncertainty; the IT2F set mathematical models for each emotion characteristics of each emotion word is also computed. The data used in this work was collected from fifteen subjects who were asked to enter an interval for each of the emotion characteristics: Valence, Activation and Dominance on an interval survey of the thirty Igbo emotion words. With this, the words are being analyzed and can be used for the purposes of translation between vocabularies in consideration to context.

In the last couple of years emotion recognition has proven its significance in the area of artificial intelligence and man machine communication. Emotion recognition can be done using speech and image (facial expression), this paper deals with SER (speech emotion recognition) only. For emotion recognition emotional speech database is essential. In this paper we have proposed emotional database which is developed in Gujarati language, one of the official’s language of India. The proposed speech corpus bifurcate six emotional states as: sadness, surprise, anger, disgust, fear, happiness. To observe effect of different emotions, analysis of proposed Gujarati speech database is carried out using efficient speech parameters like pitch, energy and MFCC using MATLAB Software.

In this paper, the performance of Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Decision Tree (DT) in classifying emotions from Malay folklores is presented. This work is the continuation of our storytelling speech synthesis work to add emotions for a more natural storytelling. A total of 100 documents from children short stories are collected and used as the datasets of the text-based emotion recognition experiment. Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) is extracted from the text documents and classified using SVM and DT. Four types of common emotions, which are happy, angry, fearful and sad are classified using the two classifiers. Results showed that DT outperformed SVM by more than 22.2% accuracy rate. However, the overall emotion recognition is only at moderate rate suggesting an improvement is needed in future work. The accuracy of the emotion recognition should be improved in future studies by using semantic feature extractors or by incorporating deep learning for classification.

Affect Sensing and Contextual Affect Modeling from Improvisational InteractionWaqas Tariq
We report work on adding an improvisational AI actor to an existing virtual improvisational environment, a text-based software system for dramatic improvisation in simple virtual scenarios, for use primarily in learning contexts. The improvisational AI actor has an affect-detection component, which is aimed at detecting affective aspects (concerning emotions, moods, value judgments, etc.) of human-controlled characters’ textual “speeches”. The AI actor will also make an appropriate response based on this affective understanding, which intends to stimulate the improvisation. The work also accompanies basic research into how affect is conveyed linguistically. A distinctive feature of the project is a focus on the metaphorical ways in which affect is conveyed. Moreover, we have also introduced affect detection using context profiles. Finally, we have reported user testing conducted for the improvisational AI actor and evaluation results of the affect detection component. Our work contributes to the journal themes on affective user interfaces, affect sensing and improvisational or dramatic natural language interaction.

Recently increasing attention has been directed to the study of the emotional content of speech signals, and hence, many systems have been proposed to identify the emotional content of a spoken utterance. The focus of this research work is to enhance man machine interface by focusing on user’s speech emotion. This paper gives the results of the basic analysis on prosodic features and also compares the prosodic features
of, various types and degrees of emotional expressions in Tamil speech based on the auditory impressions between the two genders of speakers as well as listeners. The speech samples consist of “neutral” speech as well as speech with three types of emotions (“anger”, “joy”, and “sadness”) of three degrees (“light”, “medium”, and “strong”). A listening test is also being conducted using 300 speech samples uttered by students at the ages of 19 -22 the ages of 19-22 years old. The features of prosodic parameters based on the emotional speech classified according to the auditory impressions of the subjects are analyzed. Analysis results suggest that prosodic features that identify their emotions and degrees are not only speakers’ gender dependent, but also listeners’ gender dependent.

Anaphora resolution is complex problem in linguistics and has attracted the attention of many researchers.
It is the problem of identifying referents in the discourse. Anaphora Resolution plays an important role in
Natural language processing task. This paper completely emphasis on pronominal anaphora resolution for
English Language in which pronouns refers to the intended noun in discourse. In this paper two
computational models are proposed for anaphora resolution. Resolution of anaphora is based on various
factors among which these models use Recency factor and Animistic Knowledge. Recency factor is
implemented by using Lappin Leass approach in first model and using Centering approach in second
model. Information about animacy is obtained by Gazetteer method. The identification of animistic
elements is employed to improve the accuracy of the system. This paper demonstrates experiment
conducted by both the models on different data sets from different domains. A comparative result of both
the model is summarized and conclusion is drawn for the best suitable model.

This paper deals about the sentiment analysis of the Manipuri article. The language is very highly
agglutinative in Nature. The document files are the letters to the editor of few local daily newspapers. The
text is processed for Part of Speech (POS) tagging using Conditional Random Field (CRF). The lexicon of
verbs is modified with the sentiment polarity (Positive or Negative or Neutral) manually. With the POS
tagger the verbs of each sentence are identified and the modified lexicon of verbs is used to notify the
polarity of the sentiment in the sentence. The total number of polarity for each category that is positive,
negative and neutral is counted separately. The highest total of the three is the deciding factor of the
sentiment polarity of the document. The system shows a recall of 72.10%, a precision of 78.14% and a Fmeasure
of 75.00%.
PRONOUN DISAMBIGUATION: WITH APPLICATION TO THE WINOGRAD SCHEMA CHALLENGEkevig
A value-based approach to Natural Language Understanding, in particular, the disambiguation of
pronouns, is illustrated with a solution to a typical example from the Winograd Schema Challenge. The
worked example uses a language engine, Enguage, to support the articulation of the advocation and
fearing of violence. The example illustrates the indexical nature of pronouns, and how their values, their
referent objects, change because they are set by contextual data. It must be noted that Enguage is not a
suitable candidate for addressing the Winograd Schema Challenge as it is an interactive tool, whereas
the Challenge requires a preconfigured, unattended program.

Understanding human emotion is of importance for developing better and facilitating smooth
interpersonal relations. It becomes much more important because human thinking process and behavior
are strongly influenced by the emotion. Align with these needs, an expert system that capable of predicting
the emotion state would be useful for many practical applications. Based on a speech signal, the system
has been widely developed for various languages. This study intends to evaluate to which extent Mel-
Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC) features, besides Teager energy feature, derived from
Indonesian speech signal relates to four emotional types: happy, sad, angry, and fear. The study utilizes
empirical data of nearly 300 speech signals collected from four amateur actors and actresses speaking 15
prescribed Indonesian sentences. Using support vector machine classifier, the empirical findings suggest
that the Teager energy, as well as the first coefficient of MFCCs, are a crucial feature and the prediction
can achieve the accuracy level of 86%. The accuracy increases quickly with a few initial MFCC features.
The fourth and more features have negligible effects on the accuracy.
Part of Speech tagging in Indian Languages is still an open problem. We still lack a clear approach in implementing a POS tagger for Indian Languages. In this paper we describe our efforts to build a Hidden Markov Model based Part of Speech Tagger. We have used IL POS tag set for the development of this tagger. We have achieved the accuracy of 92%

Emotion Detection is one of the most emerging issues in human computer interaction. A sufficient amount
of work has been done by researchers to detect emotions from facial and audio information whereas
recognizing emotions from textual data is still a fresh and hot research area. This paper presented a
knowledge based survey on emotion detection based on textual data and the methods used for this purpose.
At the next step paper also proposed a new architecture for recognizing emotions from text document.
Proposed architecture is composed of two main parts, emotion ontology and emotion detector algorithm.
Proposed emotion detector system takes a text document and the emotion ontology as inputs and produces
one of the six emotion classes (i.e. love, joy, anger, sadness, fear and surprise) as the output.

Upgrading the Performance of Speech Emotion Recognition at the Segmental Level IOSR Journals
Abstract: This paper presents an efficient approach for maximizing the accuracy of automatic speech emotion
recognition in English, using minimal inputs, minimal features, lesser algorithmic complexity and reduced
processing time. Whereas the findings reported here are based on the exclusive use of vowel formants, most of
the related previous works used tens or even hundreds of other features. In spite of using a greater level of
signal processing, the recognition accuracy reported earlier was often lesser than that obtained by our
approach. This method is based on vowel utterances and the first step comprises statistical pre-processing of
the vowel formants. This is followed by the identification of the best formants using the KMeans, K-nearest
neighbor and Naive Bayes classifiers. The Artificial neural network that was used for the final classification
gave an accuracy of 95.6% on elicited emotional speech. Nearly 1500 speech files from ten female speakers in
the neutral and six basic emotions were used to prove the efficiency of the proposed approach. Such a result
has not been reported earlier for English and is of significance to researchers, sociologists and others interested in speech.

In human natural interaction (human-human interaction), humans use speech beside the non-verbal cues
like facial expressions movements and gesture movements to express themselves. However, in (humancomputer
interactions), computer will use the non-verbal cues of human beings to determine the user
experience and usability of any software or application on the computer. We introduce a new model called
Measuring User Experience using Digitally Transformed/Converted Emotions (MUDE) which measures
two metrics of user experience(satisfaction and errors) , and compares them with SUS questionnaire results
by conducting an experiment for measuring the usability and user’s experience.
NBLex: emotion prediction in Kannada-English code-switchtext using naïve baye...IJECEIAES
Emotion analysis is a process of identifying the human emotions derived from the various data sources. Emotions can be expressed either in monolingual text or code-switch text. Emotion prediction can be performed through machine learning (ML), or deep learning (DL), or lexicon-based approach. ML and DL approaches are computationally expensive and require training data. Whereas, the lexicon-based approach does not require any training data and it takes very less time to predict the emotions in comparison with ML and DL. In this paper, we proposed a lexicon-based method called non-binding lower extremity exoskeleton (NBLex) to predict the emotions associated with Kannada-English code-switch text that no one has addressed till now. We applied the One-vs-Rest approach to generate the scores for lexicon and also to predict the emotions from the code-switch text. The accuracy of the proposed model NBLex (87.9%) is better than naïve bayes (NB) (85.8%) and bidirectional long short-term memory neural network (BiLSTM) (84.7%) and for true positive rate (TPR), the NBLex (50.6%) is better than NB (37.0%) and BiLSTM (42.2%). From our approach, it is observed that a simple additive model (lexicon approach) can also be an alternative model to predict the emotions in code-switch text.

Emotion is an important element in expressive speech synthesis and is investigated by many researchers. In this
research paper we build a Marathi speech database to study the effects of change of emotion. We describe
methods to optimize the database for analysis and study. The pitch information is extracted from the database
for different emotions like Joy, Angry and Sad. Pitch analysis is done on the database using the extracted pitch
points, and a general algorithm is devised for the change of neutral state to emotional state. To perform the
experiments, three expressive styles- Joy, Anger and Sad are done with Neutral.
Emotion detection on social media status in Myanmar language IJECEIAES
Many social media emerged and provided services during these years. Most people, especially in Myanmar, use them to express their emotions or moods, learn subjects, sell products, read up-to-date news, and communicate with each other. Emotion detection on social users makes critical tasks in the opinion mining and sentiment analysis. This paper presents the emotion detection system on social media (Facebook) user status or post written in Myanmar (Burmese) language. Before the emotion detection process, the user posts are pre-processed under segmentation, stemming, part-of-speech (POS) tagging, and stop word removal. The system then uses our preconstructed Myanmar word-emotion Lexicon, M-Lexicon, to extract the emotion words from the segmented POS post. The system provides six types of emotion such as surprise, disgust, fear, anger, sadness, and happiness. The system applies naïve Bayes (NB) emotion classifier to examine the emotion in the case of more than two words with different emotion values are extracted. The classifiers also classify the emotion of the users on their posts. The experiment shows that the system can detect 85% accuracy in NB based emotion detection while 86% in recurrent neural network (RNN).

Bilingual speakers have been consistently observed to experience reduced emotional sensitivity to their non-native (L2) relative to native (L1) language, particularly to the negatively-valenced L2 content. Yet, little is known about how the L1 and L2 contexts physiologically influence bilinguals' affective states, such as moods. Here, we show that bilinguals may be less physiologically sensitive to mood changes in the L2 compared to the L1 context. Polish-English bilinguals operating in either the L1 or the L2 mode (elicited via reading L1 and L2 sentences) watched positive and negative moodinducing films while their electrodermal activity was measured. We observed a greater number of skin conductance responses in the negative compared to positive mood condition in the L1 context only, indexing decreased sensitivity to mood changes in the L2 relative to the L1 mode in bilinguals. Also, skin conductance amplitudes were overall increased in the L2 compared to the L1 context, pointing to increased cognitive load when operating in L2. These findings together suggest that bilinguals experience decreased sensitivity to mood changes in their less dominant language due to L2 processing requiring greater cognitive engagement.
In this paper, a method is proposed to detect the emotion of a song based on its lyrical and audio features. Lyrical features are generated by segmentation of lyrics during the process of data extraction. ANEW and WordNet knowledge is then incorporated to compute Valence and Arousal values. In addition to this, linguistic association rules are applied to ensure that the issue of ambiguity is properly addressed. Audio features are used to supplement the lyrical ones and include attributes like energy, tempo, and danceability. These features are extracted from The Echo Nest, a widely used music intelligence platform. Construction of training and test sets is done on the basis of social tags extracted from the last.fm website. The classification is done by applying feature weighting and stepwise threshold reduction on the k-Nearest Neighbors algorithm to provide fuzziness in the classification.

In this paper, we investigate the multiple attribute decision making problems with spherical fuzzy information. The advantage of spherical fuzzy set is easily reflecting the ambiguous nature of subjective judgments because the spherical fuzzy sets are suitable for capturing imprecise, uncertain and inconsistent information in the multiple attribute decision making analysis. Thus, the cross- entropy of spherical fuzzy sets called, spherical fuzzy cross-entropy, is proposed as an extension of the cross-entropy of fuzzy sets. Then, a multiple attribute decision making method based on the proposed spherical fuzzy cross entropy is established in which attribute values for alternatives are spherical fuzzy numbers. In decision making process, we utilize the spherical fuzzy weighted cross entropy between the ideal alternative and an alternative to rank the alternatives corresponding to the cross entropy values and to select the most desirable one(s). Finally, a practical example for enterprise resource planning system selection is given to verify the developed approach and to demonstrate its practicality and effectiveness.
COVID-19, an epidemic disease, has challenged human lives all over the world. Governments and scientific communities are trying their level best to help the masses. This disease which is caused by corona virus majorly attacks the upper respiratory system rendering the human immunity incapacitated and, in some cases, proving fatal. Therefore, it is very much important to identify the infected people quickly and accurately, so that it can be prevented from spread. Early addressal of the symptoms can help to prevent the disease to become severe for all mankind. This calls for the development of a decision-making system to help the medical fraternity for the timely action. This proposed fuzzy based system predicts Covid-19 based on individuals’ symptoms and parameters. It receives input parameters as fever, cough, breathing difficulty, muscle ache, sore throat, travel history, age, medical history in the form of different membership functions and generates one output that predicts the likelihood of a person being infected with COVID-19 using Mamdani fuzzy inference system. The timely prognosis of the disease at home isolation or at the security checks can help the patient to seek the medical treatment as early as possible. Patient case studies, real time observations, cluster cases were studied to create the rule base for FDMS. The results are validated by using real-time individuals test cases on the proposed system which yields 97.2% accuracy, 100% sensitivity and 96.2% specificity.
The aim of this paper is to investigate different definitions of soft points in the existing literature on soft set theory and its extensions in different directions. Then limitations of these definitions are illustrated with the help of examples. Moreover, the definition of soft point in the setup of fuzzy soft set, intervalvalued fuzzy soft set, hesitant fuzzy soft set and intuitionistic soft set are also discussed. We also suggest an approach to unify the definitions of soft point which is more applicable than the existing notions.
The Ordered Weighted Averaging (OWA) operator was introduced by Yager [34] to provide a method for aggregating inputs that lie between the max and min operators. In this article we continue to present some extensions of OWA-type aggregation operators. Several variants of the generalizations of the fuzzy-probabilistic OWA operator-FPOWA (introduced by Merigo [13], [14]) are presented in the environment of fuzzy uncertainty, where different monotone measures (fuzzy measure) are used as uncertainty measures. The considered monotone measures are: possibility measure, Sugeno additive measure, monotone measure associated with Belief Structure and Choquet capacity of order two. New aggregation operators are introduced: AsFPOWA and SA-AsFPOWA. Some properties of new aggregation operators and their information measures are proved. Concrete faces of new operators are presented with respect to different monotone measures and mean operators. Concrete operators are induced by the Monotone Expectation (Choquet integral) or Fuzzy Expected Value (Sugeno Integral) and the Associated Probability Class (APC) of a monotone measure. New aggregation operators belong to the Information Structure I6 (see Part I, Section 3). For the illustration of new constructions of AsFPOWA and SA-AsFPOWA operators an example of a fuzzy decision-making problem regarding the political management with possibility uncertainty is considered. Several aggregation operators (“classic” and new operators) are used for the comparing of the results of decision making.
We present the notion of Pythagorean Fuzzy Weak Bi-Ideals (PFWBI) and interval valued Pythagorean fuzzy weak bi-ideals of Γ-near-rings and studies some of its properties. We present the notion of interval valued Pythagorean fuzzy weak bi-ideal and establish some of its properties. We study interval valued Pythagorean fuzzy weak bi-ideals of Γ-near-ring using homomorphism.
A Quadripartitioned Neutrosophic Pythagorean (QNP) set is a powerful general format framework that generalizes the concept of Quadripartitioned Neutrosophic Sets and Neutrosophic Pythagorean Sets. In this paper, we apply the notion of quadripartitioned Neutrosophic Pythagorean sets to Lie algebras. We develop the concept of QNP Lie subalgebras and QNP Lie ideals. We describe some interesting results of QNP Lie ideals.
The main concept of neutrosophy is that any idea has not only a certain degree of truth but also a degree of falsity and indeterminacy in its own right. Although there are many applications of neutrosophy in different disciplines, the incorporation of its logic in education and psychology is rather scarce compared to other fields. In this study, the Satisfaction with Life Scale was converted into the neutrosophic form and the results were compared in terms of confirmatory analysis by convolutional neural networks. To sum up, two different formulas are proposed at the end of the study to determine the validity of any scale in terms of neutrosophy. While the Lawshe methodology concentrates on the dominating opinions of experts limited by a one-dimensional data space analysis, it should be advocated that the options can be placed in three-dimensional data space in the neutrosophic analysis . The effect may be negligible for a small number of items and participants, but it may create enormous changes for a large number of items and participants. Secondly, the degree of freedom of Lawshe technique is only 1 in 3D space, whereas the degree of freedom of neutrosophical scale is 3, so researchers have to employ three separate parameters of 3D space in neutrosophical scale while a resarcher is restricted in a 1D space in Lawshe technique in 3D space. The third distinction relates to the analysis of statistics. The Lawhe technical approach focuses on the experts' ratio of choices, whereas the importance and correlation level of each item for the analysis in neutrosophical logic are analysed. The fourth relates to the opinion of experts. The Lawshe technique is focused on expert opinions, yet in many ways the word expert is not defined. In a neutrosophical scale, however, researchers primarily address actual participants in order to understand whether the item is comprehended or opposed to or is imprecise. In this research, an alternative technique is presented to construct a valid scale in which the scale first is transformed into a neutrosophical one before being compared using neural networks. It may be concluded that each measuring scale is used for the desired aim to evaluate how suitable and representative the measurements obtained are so that its content validity can be evaluated.
In this paper we extend the notion of interval representation for interval-valued Atanassov’s intuitionistic representations, in short Lx-representations, and use this notion to obtain the best possible one, of the Weighted Average (WA) and Ordered Weighted Average (OWA) operators. A main characteristic of this extension is that when applied to diagonal elements, i.e. fuzzy degrees, they provide the same results as the WA and OWA operators, respectively. Moreover, they preserve the main algebraic properties of the WA and OWA operators. A new total order for interval-valued Atanassov’s intuitionistic fuzzy degrees is also introduced in this paper which is used jointly with the best Lx-representation of the WA and OWA, in a method for multi-attribute group decision making where the assesses of the experts, in order to take in consideration uncertainty and hesitation, are interval-valued Atanassov’s intuitionistic fuzzy degrees. A characteristic of this method is that it works with interval-valued Atanassov’s intuitionistic fuzzy values in every moments, and therefore considers the uncertainty on the membership and non-membership in all steps of the decision making. We apply this method in two illustrative examples and compare our result with other methods.

Given that these products generate very high added value, countries that can produce and export these products will have high growth in the industrial sector. The importance of investing in advanced technologies for economic and social growth and development is so great that it is mentioned as one of the strong levers to achieve development. It should be noted that the policy of developing advanced technologies requires consideration of various performance aspects, risks and future risks in the investment phase. Risk related to high-tech investment projects has a meaning other than financial concepts only. In recent years, researchers have focused on identifying, analyzing, and prioritizing risk. There are two important components in measuring investment risk in high-tech industries, which include identifying the characteristics and criteria for measuring system risk and how to measure them. This study tries to evaluate and rank the investment risks in advanced industries using fuzzy TOPSIS technique based on verbal variables.
Transportation problem is an important network structured linear programming problem that arises in several contexts and has deservedly received a great deal of attention in the literature. The central concept in this problem is to find the least total transportation cost of a commodity in order to satisfy demands at destinations using available supplies at origins in a crisp environment. In real life situations, the decision maker may not be sure about the precise values of the coefficients belonging to the transportation problem. The aim of this paper is to introduce a formulation of fully fuzzy transportation problem involving trapezoidal fuzzy numbers for the transportation costs and values of supplies and demands. We propose a two-step method for solving fuzzy transportation problem where all of the parameters are represented by triangular fuzzy numbers i.e. two interval transportation problems. Since the proposed approach is based on classical approach it is very easy to understand and to apply on real life transportation problems for the decision makers. To illustrate the proposed approach four application examples are solved. The results show that the proposed method is simpler and computationally more efficient than existing methods in the literature.
This paper presents a time series analysis of a novel coronavirus, COVID-19, discovered in China in December 2019 using intuitionistic fuzzy logic system with neural network learning capability. Fuzzy logic systems are known to be universal approximation tools that can estimate a nonlinear function as closely as possible to the actual values. The main idea in this study is to use intuitionistic fuzzy logic system that enables hesitation and has membership and non-membership functions that are optimized to predict COVID-19 outbreak cases. Intuitionistic fuzzy logic systems are known to provide good results with improved prediction accuracy and are excellent tools for uncertainty modelling. The hesitation-enabled fuzzy logic system is evaluated using COVID-19 pandemic cases for Nigeria, being part of the COVID-19 data for African countries obtained from Kaggle data repository. The hesitation-enabled fuzzy logic model is compared with the classical fuzzy logic system and artificial neural network and shown to offer improved performance in terms of root mean squared error, mean absolute error and mean absolute percentage error. Intuitionistic fuzzy logic system however incurs a setback in terms of the high computing time compared to the classical fuzzy logic system.
Hypersoft set is an extension of the soft set where there is more than one set of attributes occur and it is very much helpful in multi-criteria group decision making problem. In a hypersoft set, the function F is a multi-argument function. In this paper, we have used the notion of Fuzzy Hypersoft Set (FHSS), which is a combination of fuzzy set and hypersoft set. In earlier research works the concept of Fuzzy Soft Set (FSS) was introduced and it was applied successfully in various fields. The FHSS theory gives more flexibility as compared to FSS to tackle the parameterized problems of uncertainty. To overcome the issue where FSS failed to explain uncertainty and incompleteness there is a dire need for another environment which is known as FHSS. It works well when there is more complexity involved in the parametric data i.e the data that involves vague concepts. This work includes some basic set-theoretic operations on FHSSs and for the reliability and the authenticity of these operations, we have shown its application with the help of a suitable example. This example shows that how FHSS theory plays its role to solve real decision-making problems.
One of the most important issues that organizations have to deal with is the timely identification and detection of risk factors aimed at preventing incidents. Managers’ and engineers’ tendency towards minimizing risk factors in a service, process or design system has obliged them to analyze the reliability of such systems in order to minimize the risks and identify the probable errors. Concerning what was just mentioned, a more accurate Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) is adopted based on fuzzy logic and fuzzy numbers. Fuzzy TOPSIS is also used to identify, rank, and prioritize error and risk factors. This paper uses FMEA as a risk identification tool. Then, Fuzzy Risk Priority Number (FRPN) is calculated and triangular fuzzy numbers are prioritized through Fuzzy TOPSIS. In order to have a better understanding toward the mentioned concepts, a case study is presented.
The Ordered Weighted Averaging (OWA) operator was introduced by Yager [57] to provide a method for aggregating inputs that lie between the max and min operators. In this article two variants of probabilistic extensions the OWA operator-POWA and FPOWA (introduced by Merigo [26] and [27]) are considered as a basis of our generalizations in the environment of fuzzy uncertainty (parts II and III of this work), where different monotone measures (fuzzy measure) are used as uncertainty measures instead of the probability measure. For the identification of “classic” OWA and new operators (presented in parts II and III) of aggregations, the Information Structure is introduced where the incomplete available information in the general decision-making system is presented as a condensation of uncertainty measure, imprecision variable and objective function of weights.
The mp-quantales were introduced in a previous paper as an abstraction of the lattices of ideals in mp-rings and the lattices of ideals in conormal lattices. Several properties of m-rings and conormal lattices were generalized to mp-quantales. In this paper we shall prove new characterization theorems for mp-quantales and for semiprime mp-quantales (these last structures coincide with the P F-quantales). Some proofs reflect the way in which the reticulation functor (from coherent quantales to bounded distributive lattices) allows us to export some properties from conormal lattices to mp-quantales.

The results show that the proposed method is simpler and computationally more efficient than existing methods in the literature.
One of the most important issues concerning the designing a supply chain is selecting the supplier. Selecting proper suppliers is one of the most crucial activities of an organization towards the gradual improvement and a promotion in performance. This intricacy is because suppliers fulfil a part of customer’s expectancy and selecting among them is multi-criteria decision, which needs a systematic and organized approach without which this decision may lead to failure. The purpose of this research is proposing a new method for assessment and rating the suppliers. We have identified several evaluation criteria and attributes; the selection among them was by the Simple Multi-Attribute Rating Technique (SMART) method, then we have specified the connection and the influence of the criteria on each other by DEMATEL method. After that, suppliers were graded by using the Fuzzy Analytical Network Process (FANP) approach and the most efficient one was selected. The innovation of this research is combining the SMART method, DEMATEL method, and Analytical Network Process in Fuzzy state which lead to more exact and efficient results which is proposed for the first time by the researchers of this study.
Interval Type-2 Fuzzy Logic Systems (IT2 FLSs) have shown popularity, superiority, and more accuracy in performance in a number of applications in the last decade. This is due to its ability to cope with uncertainty and precisions adequately when compared with its type-1 counterpart. In this paper, an Interval Type-2 Fuzzy Logic System (IT2FLS) is employed for remote vital signs monitoring and predicting of shock level in cardiac patients. Also, the conventional, Type-1 Fuzzy Logic System (T1FLS) is applied to the prediction problems for comparison purpose. The cardiac patients’ health datasets were used to perform empirical comparison on the developed system. The result of study indicated that IT2FLS could coped with more information and handled more uncertainties in health data than T1FLS. The statistical evaluation using performance metrices indicated a minimal error with IT2FLS compared to its counterpart, T1FLS. It was generally observed that the shock level prediction experiment for cardiac patients showed the superiority of IT2FLS paradigm over T1FLS.
Statistics mainly concerned with data that may be qualitative or quantitative. Earlier we have used the notion of statistics in the classical sense where we assign values that are crisp. But in reality, we find some areas where the crisp concept is not sufficient to solve the problem. So, it seems difficult to assign a definite value for each parameter. For this, fuzzy sets and logic have been introduced to give the flexibility to analyze and classify statistical data. Moreover, we may come across such parameters that are indeterminate, uncertain, imprecise, incomplete, unknown, unsure, approximate, and even completely unknown. Intuitionistic fuzzy set explain uncertainty at some extent. But itis not sufficient to study all sorts of uncertainty present in real-life. It means that there exists data which are neutrosophic in nature. So, neutrosophic data plays a significant role to study the concept of indeterminacy present in a data without any restriction. The main objective of preparing this article is to highlighting the importance of neutrosophication of statistical data in a study to assess the symptoms related to Reproductive Tract Infections (RTIs) or Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) among women by sampling estimation.
In real life situations, there are many issues in which we face uncertainties, vagueness, complexities and unpredictability. Neutrosophic sets are a mathematical tool to address some issues which cannot be met using the existing methods. Neutrosophic soft matrices play a crucial role in handling indeterminant and inconsistent information during decision making process. The main focus of this article is to discuss the concept of neutrosophic sets, neutrosophic soft sets and neutrosophic soft matrices theory which are very useful and applicable in various situations involving uncertainties and imprecisions. Thereafter our intention is to find a new method for constructing a decision matrix using neutrosophic soft matrices as an application of the theory. A neutrosophic soft matrix based algorithm is considered to solve some problems in the diagnosis of a disease from the occurrence of various symptoms in patients. This article deals with patient-symptoms and symptoms-disease neutrosophic soft matrices. To come to a decision, a score matrix is defined where multiplication based on max-min operation and complementation of neutrosophic soft matrices are taken into considerations.

The increased availability of biomedical data, particularly in the public domain, offers the opportunity to better understand human health and to develop effective therapeutics for a wide range of unmet medical needs. However, data scientists remain stymied by the fact that data remain hard to find and to productively reuse because data and their metadata i) are wholly inaccessible, ii) are in non-standard or incompatible representations, iii) do not conform to community standards, and iv) have unclear or highly restricted terms and conditions that preclude legitimate reuse. These limitations require a rethink on data can be made machine and AI-ready - the key motivation behind the FAIR Guiding Principles. Concurrently, while recent efforts have explored the use of deep learning to fuse disparate data into predictive models for a wide range of biomedical applications, these models often fail even when the correct answer is already known, and fail to explain individual predictions in terms that data scientists can appreciate. These limitations suggest that new methods to produce practical artificial intelligence are still needed.
In this talk, I will discuss our work in (1) building an integrative knowledge infrastructure to prepare FAIR and "AI-ready" data and services along with (2) neurosymbolic AI methods to improve the quality of predictions and to generate plausible explanations. Attention is given to standards, platforms, and methods to wrangle knowledge into simple, but effective semantic and latent representations, and to make these available into standards-compliant and discoverable interfaces that can be used in model building, validation, and explanation. Our work, and those of others in the field, creates a baseline for building trustworthy and easy to deploy AI models in biomedicine.

Dr. Michel Dumontier is the Distinguished Professor of Data Science at Maastricht University, founder and executive director of the Institute of Data Science, and co-founder of the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable) data principles. His research explores socio-technological approaches for responsible discovery science, which includes collaborative multi-modal knowledge graphs, privacy-preserving distributed data mining, and AI methods for drug discovery and personalized medicine. Since the loophole-free Bell experiments of 2020 and the Nobel prizes in physics of 2022, critics of Bell's work have retreated to the fortress of super-determinism. Now, super-determinism is a derogatory word - it just means "determinism". Palmer, Hance and Hossenfelder argue that quantum mechanics and determinism are not incompatible, using a sophisticated mathematical construction based on a subtle thinning of allowed states and measurements in quantum mechanics, such that what is left appears to make Bell's argument fail, without altering the empirical predictions of quantum mechanics. I think however that it is a smoke screen, and the slogan "lost in math" comes to my mind. I will discuss some other recent disproofs of Bell's theorem using the language of causality based on causal graphs. Causal thinking is also central to law and justice. I will mention surprising connections to my work on serial killer nurse cases, in particular the Dutch case of Lucia de Berk and the current UK case of Lucy Letby.

Intravital microscopy (IVM) is a powerful tool utilized to study cellular behavior over time and space in vivo. Much of our understanding of cell biology has been accomplished using various in vitro and ex vivo methods; however, these studies do not necessarily reflect the natural dynamics of biological processes. Unlike traditional cell culture or fixed tissue imaging, IVM allows for the ultra-fast high-resolution imaging of cellular processes over time and space and were studied in its natural environment. Real-time visualization of biological processes in the context of an intact organism helps maintain physiological relevance and provide insights into the progression of disease, response to treatments or developmental processes.
In this webinar we give an overview of advanced applications of the IVM system in preclinical research. IVIM technology is a provider of all-in-one intravital microscopy systems and solutions optimized for in vivo imaging of live animal models at sub-micron resolution. Observation of Io’s Resurfacing via Plume Deposition Using Ground-based Adapt...Sérgio Sacani
Since volcanic activity was first discovered on Io from Voyager images in 1979, changes
on Io’s surface have been monitored from both spacecraft and ground-based telescopes.
Here, we present the highest spatial resolution images of Io ever obtained from a groundbased telescope. These images, acquired by the SHARK-VIS instrument on the Large
Binocular Telescope, show evidence of a major resurfacing event on Io’s trailing hemisphere. When compared to the most recent spacecraft images, the SHARK-VIS images
show that a plume deposit from a powerful eruption at Pillan Patera has covered part
of the long-lived Pele plume deposit. Although this type of resurfacing event may be common on Io, few have been detected due to the rarity of spacecraft visits and the previously low spatial resolution available from Earth-based telescopes. The SHARK-VIS instrument ushers in a new era of high resolution imaging of Io’s surface using adaptive
optics at visible wavelengths.

Abstract
1 | Introduction
Words are vital in our description and understanding of emotions and means different things to
different people based on different instances and some are uncertain [1]. Hence, there is a need for a
model that can capture the uncertainties of these words. Emotions are feelings or involuntary
physiological response of a person to a situation, words or things. Emotion is defined using two
approaches: the classical approach and the use of multidimensional space. The classical approach
uses fixed number of emotion classes such as {positive, non-positive}, {negative, non-negative}, and
{angry, non-angry} in describing emotion-related states.

Several attempts had been made to analyze emotion words in the fields of linguistics, psychology and sociology; with the
advent of computers, the analyses of these words have taken a different dimension. Unfortunately, limited attempts have
so far been made to using Interval Type-2 Fuzzy Logic (IT2FL) to analyze these words in native languages. This study
used IT2FL to analyze Igbo emotion words. IT2F sets are computed using the interval approach method which is divided
into two parts: the data part and the fuzzy set part. The data part preprocessed data and its statistics computed for the
interval that survived the preprocessing stages while the fuzzy set part determined the nature of the footprint of
uncertainty; the IT2F set mathematical models for each emotion characteristics of each emotion word is also computed.
The data used in this work was collected from fifteen subjects who were asked to enter an interval for each of the emotion
characteristics: Valence, Activation and Dominance on an interval survey of the thirty Igbo emotion words. With this,
the words are being analyzed and can be used for the purposes of translation between vocabularies in consideration to
context.

However, this approach lacks the ability to handle many types of real-life emotions while the second
approach represents emotion using each point in the multidimensional space and the dimensions that are
mostly used are valence, activation, and dominance [2] and [3]. Valence represents negative to positive axis,
activation represents calm to excited axis while dominance represents weak to strong axis in the three
dimensional space [4]. However, the two approaches have failed to represent the uncertainty a person has
about the emotion words as reflected in real-world and are somewhat vague and not precisely defined sets.
Therefore, application of fuzzy set model is well suitable because of its ability to cope with uncertainties
[5] and [6] and can represent each emotion dimension using intervals rather than fixed points [7].
The Type -1 Fuzzy Set (T1-FS) is a generalization of traditional classical sets in which a concept can possess
a certain degree of truth, where the truth value may range between completely true and completely false.
However, T1-FS lacks the ability to adequately represent or directly handle data uncertainty because its
membership function is crisp in nature [8]. The optimal design of fuzzy systems enables making decisions
based on a structure built from the knowledge of experts and guided by membership functions and fuzzy
rules [28]. “The membership functions of type-2 fuzzy sets are (n+2)-dimensional, while membership
functions of type-1 fuzzy sets are only (n+1)-dimensional (assuming that the universe of discourse has n
dimensions). Thus, type-2 fuzzy sets allow more degrees of freedom in representing uncertainty” [32].
Type-2 Fuzzy Set (T2-FS) which is an extension of T1-FS was used in [9] to address the inabilities of T1-
FLS. Interval Type-2 Fuzzy Logic (IT2FL) is a simplified version of the general T2FLS that uses intervals
to handle uncertainty in the membership function. The structure of T2-FIS is similar to T1-FLS but with
additional component called the type reducer modified to accommodate T2F set. Type Reducer is used to
reduce the output of the T2 inference engine to type-1 before defuzzification. An IT2FL can better model
intrapersonal and interpersonal uncertainties, which are intrinsic to natural language, because the
membership grade of an IT2 Fuzzy set is an interval instead of a crisp number as in a T1 FS [31].
Though, many works have been done in the field of emotion words, [8], [10]- [18], however, attempts to
analyze emotion words in Igbo non-English languages have not been impacted in any way. This study uses
IT2FL to analyze Igbo Emotion Words. The term “Igbo” in this context is used to describe the language
spoken primarily by Igbo ethnic group in Nigeria. The Igbo belong to the Sudanic linguistic group of the
Kwa division according to [19] and [20]. This wide presence of the Igbos is the basis for selecting the
emotions words in Igbo language for analysis using IT2FL.
This study used IT2FL to analyze Igbo emotion words because of its ability to adequately handle emotion
word uncertainties described by its Footprint Of Uncertainty (FOU), which is the uncertainty about the
union of all the primary MFs. Uncertainty is a characteristic of information, which may be incomplete,
inaccurate, undefined, inconsistent. Primary Membership Functions with where both the standard
deviation and the uncertain are popular FOUs for a Gaussian because of their parsimony and
differentiability [29]. IT2F sets are computed using the interval approach method which is divided into two
parts: the data part and the fuzzy set part. The data part preprocessed data and its statistics computed for
the interval that survived the preprocessing stages while the fuzzy set part determined the nature of the
footprint of uncertainty; the IT2F set mathematical models for each emotion characteristics of each

and the IT2FLS are described. The research methodology is presented, the results and discussion are
described and the conclusions are drawn.
1.1| Emotion Space, Emotion Vocabularies and Variables
The emotion space E can be considered as a set of all possible emotions and it is represented using

up the meaning of an emotion word. Words in an emotional vocabulary can be seen as constant
emotional variables.
1.2| Igbos and Emotions
Emotions affect every human including the Igbo’s and the Igbo emotions have become even more
complex over time hence when the Igbos speak of their emotions, the analysis, interpretation and
translation to other languages is highly needed. For instance, an Igbo businessman may say “iwe ne enwe
m” which means “I am angry”. The emotion word in his statement is “iwe” translated as “anger” in
English could either be with regards to a business situation or a person. Assuming it is a person that is
an individual who annoyed him, it would not change his disposition about his business hence at almost
the same time the same businessman could be heard saying “oba go” meaning “it has entered” which
insinuates happiness of some sought.
1.3| Type-2 Fuzzy Logic System and Sets
T2FLS is the generalized standard type-1 in order to accommodate and handle more uncertainties in the
MF [21]. According to [22] “words mean different things to different people”. T2FLS is based on the
T2F sets where the MF has multiple values for a crisp input of x, making the need for the creation of a
3-dimensional MF for all x Ɛ X. A characteristic feature of T2FS is the FOU, which is the union of all
primary memberships and upper MFs and a lower MFs that are the bounds for the FOU of a T2Fs.
Uncertainty in relations and uncertainty in values of the variables are majorly the types of uncertainty
considered in developing systems since the high overlapping of the MFS, defining precise values for
linguistic variables is not possible [30].

IT2FLS consists of the fuzzifier, rule base, Inference Engine (IE), Type Reducer (TR). Fuzzification
module maps the crisp input to a T2Fs using Gaussian MF. Inference Engine module evaluates the rules
in the knowledge base against T2Fs from Fuzzification, to produce another T2Fs. TR uses Karnik-Mendel
algorithm to reduce an IT2Fs to T1Fs. Defuzzification module maps the fuzzy set produced by TR to a
crisp output using center of gravity defuzzification method. Fuzzy knowledge base stores rules generated
from experts’ knowledge used by the IE.
2| Research Methodology
The paper employs interval approach where data and fuzzy set parts are considered.
2.1| Interval Approach (IA)
The IA is a method for estimating MFs where the subject does not need to be knowledgeable about fuzzy
sets and it has a simple and unambiguous mapping from data to FoU. Feilong and Mendel [24] used the
IA to capture the strong points of two previous methods: the Person-MF Approach and the End-point
Approach. Using the IA, the data collected from different subjects is subjected to probability distribution.
The mean and standard deviation of the distribution are then mapped into the parameters of a T1 MF
which are then transformed into T2 MF from which the IT2 MF is derived. The IA is divided into two
parts namely the Data Part and the Fuzzy Set Part (FSP) as seen in Figs. (2) and (3), respectively.
2.1.1| The Data Part (DP)
The DP of the IA consists of data collection, data preprocessing and probability distribution assignment
parts as shown in Fig. 2. The DP highlights the valence layer and this is repeated for each word in the
vocabulary. In Fig. 2, the following steps are carried out to achieve an input to the FSP.
Data Collection. Here, interval survey is performed to collect human intuition about fuzzy predicate.
Data Preprocessing. Pre-processing for 𝑛 interval data [𝑎(𝑖)

After the data preprocessing, we are left with m data intervals such that 1 ≤ 𝑚 ≤ 𝑛.
Assign Probability Distribution to the Interval Data. Here, a probability distribution is assigned to
each subject’s data interval. The distribution can be uniform, triangular, normal, etc. but for the purpose
of this work, the uniform distribution is used.
Compute Data Statistics for the Interval Data. The data statistics 𝑚𝑙, 𝜎𝑙, 𝑚𝑟𝑎𝑛𝑑𝜎𝑟, which are the sample
means and standard deviation of the left- and right-end points respectively, are computed based on interval
data that remains. The last two steps are often merged since they work hand in hand.

2.1.2| The Fuzzy Set Part (FSP)
The fuzzy set part constructs the interval type-2 fuzzy sets as shown in Fig. 3. It takes the result of Data
part, i.e. the Si as input from which it creates the IT2Fs. The Layers denote individual fuzzy sets for valence,
activation and dominance. This framework is repeated for each word in the vocabulary.
In Fig. 3, the fuzzy set part of IT2FL process is divided into nine (9) steps. Step 1, establishes FS uncertainty
measures while Step 2 selects the T1FS model. In Step 3, the uncertainty measures for the selected models
are computed. The uncertainty measures on the symmetrical interior triangle compute the mean and
Standard Deviation (SD) derived from the mean and SD of the triangular and uniform distributions. In
step 4, the Si from the data part is recollected. The mean and standard SD from the interval model is
equated with the corresponding parameters from the previous step. In Step 5, the nature of the FoU is
established using the parameters of the models associated with each interval to classify whether an interval
should be mapped to an interior MF, or a left or right shoulder MF. The input interval is mapped to a
shoulder MF if the parameters show that the distribution is out of the range of the scales. In Step 6, the
T1Fs is computed with the intervals and the decision is made in the previous step. Since the MFs derived
in this step are based on statistics and not the raw intervals themselves, another preprocessing stage is
carried out to delete inadmissible T1FS is with range outside of the limit of the scale of the variable of
interest. In Step 7, the fuzzy sets derived are the subject-specific T1FSs. The aggregate is taken to compute
the IT2FSs that contain all the subject-specific T1FS in its FOU. This aggregation can be said to be a type-
2 union of T1FSs, where the embedded T1FSs describe the FOU of IT2FSs. This includes Steps 8 and 9.

3| System Design
The architecture for analyzing emotion words from Igbo using IT2FL presented in Fig. 4. The
architecture is made up of the Knowledge Engine, the Knowledge Base and the User Interface. The
Knowledge base further comprises the Database Model, the Interval Surveys and the IT2FL Model. The
IT2FL model is composed of the Interval Approach Data Part and the Interval Approach Fuzzy Set
Part. The knowledge engine stores all the variables required for the system, the knowledge base stores
values for the variables defined in the knowledge engine. The Database stores an organized data to be
used in the system as collected from the subjects. Interval survey is where the data are collected in a
range of intervals which defines a subject’s view of each emotion word given with regards to the emotion
characteristics defined in the knowledge engine. The IT2FL model is used to represent words using
IT2FSs. The IT2FL comprises Interval Approach which is made up of data and fuzzy set parts. The
data part processes the data and makes it ready for use in estimating the MF of each emotion
characteristics in each emotion word. The fuzzy set part evaluates the MF representing each emotion
characteristics of each word.
3.1| The Knowledge Engine for Analyzing Igbo Emotion Words
For the purpose of this paper, the variables used include the emotional characteristics (Valence,
Activation and Dominance). Valence defines an emotion word on the basis of its positivity or negativity.
Activation defines an emotion word on the basis of its calmness or excitement. Dominance defines an
emotion word on the basis of its submissiveness or aggressiveness. The Igbo emotion vocabulary used
in this work is contained in the knowledge engine. The emotion vocabulary used in this research work
is the Igbo Emotions vocabulary of 30 words which include: Iwe, Obi Uto, Onuma, Ujo, Ntukwasi Obi,

3.2| The Database Model
The IT2F inference system uses the data as organized in the database. The database schema is created to
hold the collected data, data statistics and the membership function values, respectively.
3.3| The Interval Survey
An interval survey is carried out using questionnaires which are given to 15 native speakers of Igbo. The
questionnaire began by giving the users instructions then sequentially providing the words to the users.
The reason for the interval survey is to collect human intuition about fuzzy predicate which is emotion in
this case and provision is given for the subject to give an interval within the range 0-10 that defines the
emotion characteristics.
3.4| The IT2FL Model to Analyze Igbo Emotion Words
The IT2FL model for analyzing Igbo emotion words using Interval Approach. The interval approach is
used because it takes on the strength of the interval endpoints and the person membership function
approaches. Based on Figs. (2) and (3), the data and fuzzy set parts of Interval Approach for analyzing
Igbo emotion words using IT2FL are evaluated.

3.4.1| Interval approach data part for analyzing Igbo emotion words using IT2FL
Using Fig. 2, in the data collection part, data are collected using the interval surveys from 10 subjects
who are native speakers of the Igbo Language. The 30 emotion words are randomly ordered and
presented to the respondents. Each was asked to provide the end-points on an interval for each word
on the scale of 0-10. Data processing is performed in estimating the MF of each emotion characteristic
in each emotion word and then calculates the statistics of the data intervals. Validation of the data
intervals is done starting at ‘n’ intervals at the data preprocessing part. Bad data processing is performed
on the collected dataset and the intervals that do not satisfy the condition in Eq. (4) is removed. After
bad processing, outlier processing is carried out on the remaining dataset and the intervals that do not
satisfy the box and whisker test in Eq. (5) are eliminated. Tolerance –limit processing is performed on
the remaining intervals and the data intervals are accepted if they satisfy Eqs. (6) and (7) otherwise, they
are rejected.

The constant ‘k’ is used as estimated by Mendel and Liu [26] and [27] as shown in Table 2 for 10 intervals
at 0.95 confidence limit since we have an average of ten intervals per characteristic.

Reasonable data intervals are evaluated for the overlapped data intervals and only reasonable data intervals
are kept. At this point, the intervals remain the same, i.e. 𝑚 = 𝑚′′ . After the data has been validated, the
mean and SD of the data intervals are computed in Eqs. (8) and (9) on the assumption that the data intervals
are uniformly distributed and the probability distribution, Si, computed in Eq. (10) and then becomes an
input to the fuzzy set part.
3.4.2| Interval approach fuzzy set part for analyzing Igbo emotion words using
The Interval Approach Fuzzy Set Part for Analyzing Igbo emotion words using IT2FL is used to evaluate
the MF based on Fig. 3. It consists of nine steps. Step 1 selects a T1FS and computes the mean and SD of
the data intervals using symmetrical triangle interior T1FS, left-shoulder T1FS and the right-shoulder T1FS
only. In Step 2, the mean and standard deviation are calculated to establish FS uncertainty measures using
Eqs. (11) and (12).

The mathematical model of the UMF and the LMF are shown in Table 3 for TI, L-S and R-S FOU.
4| Model Experiment
This paper uses IT2FL to analyze Igbo emotion words. The IT2F sets are computed using the interval
approach method which comprises data part and fuzzy set part. In order to illustrate the methodology
proposed in this paper, we conduct some experiments for Igbo emotion words described in this work.
4.1| The Data Part
Table 4. shows the data intervals collected from the subjects. Bad data are processed and sample presented
in Table 5. Outlier processing is performed in Table 5 and the sample result is presented in Table 6. The
tolerance limit processing in Table 6 is shown in Table 7. Sample result of reasonable interval processing is
seen in Table 8. The data statistics is computed for all the surviving m data intervals and sample are shown
in Table 9.

4.2| The Fuzzy Set Part
In the fuzzy set part, only the symmetrical triangle interior T1FS, left-shoulder T1FS and the right-
shoulder T1FS are used. The mean and SD are the same as in the data part as shown Table 9. The
uncertainty measure for the chosen T1FS models are computed as is shown in parts in Table 10. The
nature of FOU for each emotion characteristic for each word is determined as shown in Table 11. The

5| Result and Discussion
5.1| The Fuzzy Set Part
The IT2FL model used to analyze the Igbo emotion words are simulated using Matlab, Microsoft excel
and Netbeans. The data as collected are input into a spreadsheet, preprocessed as discussed in the paper.
Then, the model is run on the data yielding the MFs and the FOUs of each of the first 5 emotion words.
Parts of the results of simulation for dimensions Valence, Activation and Dominance are shown in Figs.
(4)-(16).

5.2| Discussion
Figs. (4) – (16) show parts of the MFs that were calculated from the survey data. These Figures indicate
3 general tendencies of graph: the MF could be either steeper and more peripheral if the emotion words
are in accordance with their real meaning, or less steep and more central if the emotion words have
ambiguous and undetermined meaning, or shifted to the opposite side of at least one of the scales if the
emotion words do not conform with the real meaning. The valence dimension for the word “Iwe
(Anger)” is not so broad, indicating a value a bit low. The activation dimension indicates a high value
while the dominance dimension is narrow and has a small footprint of uncertainty. This means the word
“Iwe (Anger)” carries a meaning that is well determined by the valence and dominance dimensions but
is not well determined by the activation dimension. The word “Obi Uto (Happiness)” has a high value
in its valence dimension, low value in its activation dimension and high value in its dominance
dimension. This implies that the meaning of the word “Obi Uto (Happiness)” is well determined by its
activation dimension. For the word “Ihere (Shame)”, the valence dimension has a high value. The
activation and dominance dimensions have low values. This indicates that the meaning of the word
“Ihere (Shame)” is well determined by its activation and dominance dimensions and not the valence
dimension. The word “AkwaUta (Remorse)” has a high value in its valence dimension, a low value in
its activation dimension and a high value in its dominance dimension. This indicates that the meaning
of the word “AkwaUta (Remorse)” is well determined by all the three dimensions. For the word “Ara
(Mad)”, the valence dimension has a low value while the activation dimension has a high value. Its
dominance dimension though not so broad has a small footprint of uncertainty. This shows that the
meaning of the word “Ara (Mad)” is well determined by all the three characteristics.
5| Conclusion
This paper involves the implementation of the IT2FL model for analyzing thirty (30) Igbo emotion
words. Interval survey is conducted using Igbo native speakers to collect human intuition about fuzzy
predicate which is emotion. Using an interval approach, user data are associated with each emotion word
with intervals on the three scales of emotional characteristics-valence, activation, and dominance which
are collected and used to estimate IT2F MFs for each scale. Results indicate that the study is able to
demonstrate that the use of the proposed system will be of immense benefit to every aspect of Natural

Language Processing (NLP) and affective computing and that the IT2FL model for words is more suitable
for any purpose in which emotion words may be computed. This is because of the interval approach
method used to analyze the words to yield IT2FSs which captures most uncertainty that are contained in
an emotion word. Also, the study will help the users in selecting specific Igbo emotion words for easy
communication and understanding.
In the future, more emotion words can be added to the system and IT2FL tool can be employed in the
translation of Igbo emotion words in English language.
