User generated content (UGC) refers to content created by library users and uploaded to websites. This includes social media content. By 2014, about two-thirds of web users will frequently visit sites based on user contributions. UGC provides benefits like engagement, testing services, and problem solving. However, it also presents issues regarding privacy, copyright, control, and archiving. Libraries can develop policies and use tools like Creative Commons to address these issues while harnessing the benefits of UGC.
