Of the 128 students, including Kewauna, who started OneGoal as juniors at six Chicago high
schools in the fall of 2009, ninety six were enrolled in four year colleges as of March 2012. This
proves that OneGoal is a fairly successful prep school. Marita went to a school called KIPP

are all inspired by Genesis. The book of Genesis inspired the authors of these works of literature
to write alterations of their own stories. Gilgamesh, Metamorphoses, and The Koran are all
variations of the account chronicled in Genesis. First, there are numerous similarities between
the flood in Gilgamesh and the biblical flood account found in Genesis chapters six through
nine. Foremost, two righteous men are selected to build an ark because of an imminent flood. In

Plath s use of metaphor is effective in highlighting her depressive state, Plath often used metaphors
frequently and used them as a contrast to her own reality. Through Plath s poetry, we understand
that she was conflicted about being a woman and often viewed the world with a very childlike
mindset. Plath s poem The Munich Mannequins , is a poem which floats between two images of
womanly barrenness through the image of anonymous mannequins to the hotels of Munich where
the occupants are just as anonymous as the mannequins we are introduced to in the first few
stanzas. The anonymous characters that Plath creates in this poem suggests to the reader about her

of perfection refers to the opening image of mannequins and suggests the idea that women in Plath
s time were either able to bear children or were a perfectly formed mannequin. Through this
quotation, we understand that Plath was confused about what society wanted from women and
what she was to think about these views. In many of her poems, such as Lady Lazarus , she tries to
defeat the stigma attached to not having children and often tries to fight against the views that her
culture had, however in poems like The Munich Mannequins we see Plath conforming to these
views by degrading and dehumanising these perfect women. Plath dehumanises these childless
