Identifying Parts of a Whole. (Hierarchy of Trends: Microtrends, Macrotrends, Megatrends, Gigatrends)
Contemporary climate change includes both global warming and its impacts on Earth's weather patterns. There have been previous periods of climate change, but the current rise in global average temperature is more rapid and is primarily caused by humans. Burning fossil fuels adds greenhouse gases to the atmosphere, most importantly carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane. Smaller contributions come from agriculture, industrial processes, and forest loss. Greenhouse gases warm the air by absorbing heat radiated by the Earth, trapping the heat near the surface. Greenhouse gas emissions amplify this effect, causing the Earth to take in more energy from sunlight than it can radiate back into space.
Due to climate change, deserts are expanding, while heat waves and wildfires are becoming more common. Increased warming in the Arctic has contributed to melting permafrost, glacial retreat and sea ice loss. Higher temperatures are also causing more intense storms, droughts, and other weather extremes. Rapid environmental change in mountains, coral reefs, and the Arctic is forcing many species to relocate or become extinct. Climate change threatens people with food and water scarcity, increased flooding, extreme heat, more disease, and economic loss. Human migration and conflict can also be a result. The World Health Organization (WHO) calls climate change the greatest threat to global health in the 21st century. Even if efforts to minimise future warming are successful, some effects will continue for centuries. These include sea level rise, and warmer, more acidic oceans.
Many of these impacts are already felt at the current 1.2 °C (2.2 °F) level of warming. Additional warming will increase these impacts and may trigger tipping points, such as the melting of the Greenland ice sheet. Under the 2015 Paris Agreement, nations collectively agreed to keep warming "well under 2 °C". However, with pledges made under the Agreement, global warming would still reach about 2.7 °C (4.9 °F) by the end of the century. Limiting warming to 1.5 °C will require halving emissions by 2030 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
Welcome to this in-depth article on global warming, a topic of utmost importance in today's world. Global warming refers to the long-term increase in Earth's average surface temperature due to human activities, primarily the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. In this article, we will explore the causes, consequences, and potential solutions to address this pressing issue. So, let's dive in and learn more about the impact of global warming on our planet.
Global warming is a significant environmental concern that has captured the attention of scientists, policymakers, and the general public. It is caused by the excessive release of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and nitrous oxide (N2O), into the atmosphere. These gases trap heat from the sun and prevent it from escaping back into space, leading to a rise in global temperatures.
Here are 12 instances of the climate paradigm shift: 1. Extreme Weather Events 2. Rising Sea Levels 3. Disruption of Ecosystems 4. Economic Implications 5. Health and Human Well-being
Climate change is a phenomenon whose effects can be seen in multiple areas like in habitats of plant and animals, across farmland, in weather patterns etc.
Global Warming is one of the biggest global problem. It is affecting us and the environment day by day.
The Presesentation consists of the causes of global warming, the effects and then finally will tell you the solutions of it so that we can save the earth and the environment.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Trends, Network and Critical Thinking Unit 4 planetary networks climate change
1. Unit 4
PLANETARY NETWORKS: CLIMATE CHANGE
Trends, Networks, and Critical
Thinking in the 21st Century
Senior High School Grade 11
4.1 The effects of consumption
and production patterns to
climate change
4.2 The effects of climate change
4.3 Steps to address the problems
of climate change
2. Change is inevitable. The era of globalization
certainly contributed in changing the landscape
of the world and its inhabitants. Amid this
growth and advancement in technology, the
environment seems to bear and suffer the
consequences. Every day, we are confronted
with issues and problems related to the
environment. The issue on climate change is
one concrete manifestation and realization that
the age of globalization and the rapid industrial
and technological advancement has taken its
toll on the natural environment.
3. Climate Change
- also called global warming, refers to the rise in
average surface temperatures on Earth. An
overwhelming scientific consensus maintains
that climate change is due primarily to the
human use of fossil fuels, which releases carbon
dioxide and other greenhouse gases into the air.
- is "a change of climate which is attributed
directly or indirectly to human activity that
alters the composition of the global
atmosphere" (United Nations Forum
Convention on Climate Change)
4. Greenhouse Effect- the trapping of the sun's
warmth in a planet's lower atmosphere due to
the greater transparency of the atmosphere to
visible radiation from the sun than to infrared
radiation emitted from the planet's surface.
5.
6. 7 EFFECTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE YOU’RE
ALREADY SEEING
Climate change isn’t something that’s
happening in 10 or 20 years. It’s happening
now. Here are seven effects of climate change
you’ve already seen.
7. 1) LONGER, MORE INTENSE ALLERGY
SEASONS.
Warming temperatures in some areas, like the
northern United States, are extending the
periods when plants release pollen. This
affects not only people who already have
allergies, but those who don’t. This means
that people who have pollen allergies might
experience more intense symptoms, and
people who don’t normally have allergies
might begin to experience them. This pollen
can induce allergic asthma.
8. 2) FOODS YOU LOVE ARE BECOMING LESS
NUTRITIOUS AND COST MORE AT THE
GROCERY STORE.
The same CO2 accumulating in our
atmosphere thanks to fossil fuels is actually
changing the composition of fruits and
vegetables that we eat, making them less
nutritious. Extra CO2 is speeding up
photosynthesis and causing plants to grow
with more sugar and less calcium, protein,
zinc, and important vitamins.
9. Not only is food becoming less nutritious, but
it could soon cost more too. Beginning in 2006,
drought in major wheat-producing countries
was a key factor in a dramatic spike in food
prices around the globe. And as the world
keeps getting hotter, we can expect to see this
kind of drought more and more often.
10. 3) MORE COMMON, MORE SEVERE, AND
MORE LONG-LASTING HEAT WAVES.
Extreme heat and heat waves have happened
since the beginning of time. But across the
board, climate change is making heat waves
more common, severe, and long-lasting. Heat
waves can become so intense that our roads
actually melt.
11. 4) WILDFIRES CAUSING DAMAGE TO OUR
LANDSCAPES AND OUR COMMUNITIES – AS
WELL AS OUR HEALTH.
Wildfires are devastating communities around
the world. From the billion-dollar destruction
they cause to the costs of lost plant, animal,
and even human life, these devastating natural
disasters are scarring our landscapes.
12. 5) HURRICANES ARE BECOMING MORE LIKELY
AND MORE DANGEROUS.
Around the world, average sea surface
temperatures are rising. As seas get warmer,
they add more water vapor and heat energy
into the atmosphere. This extra heat and
water, just happens to be the perfect fuel for
hurricanes and in the right conditions, can
make dangerous storms even more powerful.
13. 6) MORE CLIMATE-RELATED MASS
MIGRATION.
Climate change is already prompting an
increase in migration, with people being forced
to leave their homes because of drought,
flooding, and other climate-related disasters.
14. 7) DISEASES ARE SPREADING MORE EASILY.
Disease-carrying insects thrive with warmer-
than-average temperatures, extreme heat
waves, and heavy rains. These vectors live
longer lives in extended periods of warm
weather. Fly into new areas that were
previously too cold. And reproduce in water
deposits left by the rain.
Climate change is also creating ideal conditions
for waterborne pathogens like bacteria, viruses,
and protozoa, which flourish in warmer waters.
15. Solutions:
What to do:
Reduce energy consumption
Travel Green
Watch your Water Use
Reduce Waste
Plant a Tree
16. Climate Change Solutions
In order to avoid the most serious impacts of
climate change, humans will have to
significantly reduce the amount of
greenhouse gas emissions being put into the
atmosphere. There are different approaches
to make these decreases, including optimizing
vehicles proficiency, expanding access to and
utilization of open travel, overhauling building
protection, supplanting fossils with renewable
energy, and diminishing deforestation.
17. Numerous legislatures, organizations, and
people are starting to execute some of these
techniques and hence gradually decreasing
emissions. The use of cleaner production
technologies and change of lifestyle are
desired to impact a change in climate.
