Energy can be mechanical, chemical, electrical, thermal, light, or nuclear. Mechanical energy includes kinetic and potential energy. Chemical energy is stored in substances, electrical energy is in the form of electricity, and thermal energy is heat. Common energy transformations include fuel in cars becoming kinetic and thermal energy and electrical energy powering fans and becoming kinetic and thermal energy. Renewable energy sources include hydroelectric, wind, solar, and biofuels while non-renewable sources are petroleum, coal, uranium, and natural gas.
