Unit 4 Energy
Energy is the hability of an object to
move, heat up or produce light.
Energy appears in many forms:
• Mechanical:
• Energy that produces movement and
change directions.
There are two types of mechanical
energy
• Kinetic energy: Is the energy in the form of
movement.
• Potential energy: this is the energy in the
form of potential movement.
Chemical energy
• This is stored in some substances.
Electrical energy
• This is the energy in the form of electricity.
Thermal energy
• This is energy in the form of heat.
Light energy
• This is the energy in the form of light
Nuclear energy.
• This type of energy is stored in the atomic
structure of all matter.
Energy.
• Energy never dissapears.
It can be transformed from one type
to another
examples
We can classify energy into two
groups.
• Renewable
• Non renewable
Renewable energy
• We get energy from natural resources.
Renewable energy sources:
• Hydroelectric e.
• Wind e.
• Solar e.
• Biofuels e.
Non-renewable energy
• Non- renewable energy is energy from
resources that are limited.
Non renewable energy resources
• Petroleum
• Coal
• Natural gas
• Uranium.
What are the three Rs?
• Reduce
• Reuse
• Recycle.
