2. Passive voice is when we emphasize the object or
the action instead of the subject who made it
The actor plays the role (active sentence)
The role is played by the actor (passive sentence)
3. To transform a sentence from active to passive
we need to identify the Subject, the Action and
finally the Object of a sentence (S.A.O.)

4. Then to transform an active sentence we need to do
three steps.
- object becomes subject
- the verb changes to verb to be + participle
form
- If there is a subject, becomes the object before the
word By (because everything is done By something /
someone )

8. When the active sentence starts with a subject
pronoun, in the passive sentence we use the
Object pronoun.
- I played basketball
- Basketball was played by me
- She does the sentence
- The sentence is done by her

9. The action in an active sentence could be in
present or past. In that case we do the following
transformation
- Present form = verb to be + participle
(is / are)
- Past form = verb to be + participle
past

* the transformation depends if the object is
singular (is / was) or plural (are / were)

The books are finished by Emily
The students passed the exam
The exam was passed by the students
