  • 23. I think it looks like a really useful beginning and introduction to topics relating to collection management. looks really interesting & some of the links are great starting points. You have brought out the international significance of collection management by selecting U.S. and U.K. videos and blogs. Very impressive. There are a number of things I like, the split into small sections, the breakdown within the sections of things to read, watch and do – makes it very manageable without being too directed A very good job, the course makes sense & easy to read & understand Feedback I like the look and feel of it and the ability to start and stop or go back over something.

  1. This is about a course I have developed on digital leadership & collection management using google sites – this is the journey I took and the outcomes
  2. Leading groups and people appears a lot in the definition of leadership including the process goal, word cloud from a business online article on definitions I pasted in
  3. Even Barack Obama understood the challenges of leadership on how to get people motivated and work with you – this reflects a more collaborative approach to leadership
  4. Leadership studies and development have now moved beyond the transaction to looking leadership behaviour I particularly like Meg Wheatley’s quote, Sheryl Sandber goes beyond the qualities to the personal and authenticity, I was part of a leadership programme last year and the theme that ran throughout was being yourself with skill – it is the behavioural aspect of leadership that I would like to focus on today
  5. We know the digital world is all around us and here to stay and now have digital leadership, there are MOOCs on it and JISC even has its own, programme. Finding a definition was challenging quite a lot refer to managing digital organisations or as in JISC’s case list the behaviours, so I put together my own which is in the course

So how did I get thinking about developing a course on digital leadership which is integrates my involvement i thought there was room to look at digital leadship going beyond the IT organisation also within the context of changes taking place in my organisation which I have been involved in.   7. For me I wanted to repurpose the digital u framework and behaviours the digital leaderhip aspect I gathered – i then started thinking could i repurpose this in other contexts this is how i built the course it used to be called reusable learning object
  8. This is an overview of the digital U web site which we structured around digital values that Staffordshire university staff should acquire with respect to digital capabilitis
  9. These are the values in more depth, based on the JISC digital capabilities framework but we developed our own
  10. The idea being foundation values with specific digital capabilities relating to team and role
  11. Last year I applied for a teaching excellence fellowship for which I am developing online support for students in the final year or first year of postgrad to develop in digital leadership, its about students being resilient – and I thought I could repurpose these in other setting this is why I thought collection management. When I moved back from eLearning management to librarianship, my boss that the time handed me all things digital but one area needed development was leadership in collection management as the management handed to the person who was managing the IT licenses. I had difficulty finding just in time training, UKSG webinars were good, some elements in books were good, plus the odd article, and I have been on excellent course. Courses are expensive, difficult to dip back into printed material
  12. But why specifically digital leadership for these very reasons
  13. However for me staff development is more than a generic set of values, it is about context
  14. I wanted to develop a course that brought together all these elements
  15. I had some course prerequisites flexibility, mobile and just in-timeness were paramount

  18. This is an illustration of the site design all had the activities read watch do – in an attempt to move away from a transmissional approach
  19. As you can see a considerable amount of work had gone into it, but once completed I want students to be independent their learning without my intervention
  20. You will notice there are still quite a few errors, the curation was challenge I am open access person and like to share and repurpose content where possible if it is good and relevant but that is challenge and time consuming the University of Edinburgh found the same thing in a MOOC they developed about 5 years ago
