This document summarizes the work and impact of the San Joaquin Valley Rural Development Center (SJVRDC). It serves 46 rural cities and over 220 communities in the Central Valley region of California. Some of its key initiatives include providing workshops and technical assistance to over 300 rural stakeholders, developing local food systems through projects like farmers markets and community gardens, conducting community assessments to understand needs, offering digital literacy training to over 4,500 parents through the Fresno State Parent University program, and providing small business development support through workshops and capital infusions that have created or retained over 10 jobs. The SJVRDC has also helped develop 8-month long economic development plans for several cities that were then approved by their city councils.
