Academic History
• I studied music production and product design at GCSE
which has given me skills to be able to make products
for clients.
• I studied level 2 creative media production for a year
which gave me a base set of skills to start working in
the media.
• I then studied level 3 creative media production which
strengthened my skills and production techniques.
• Made some short films and projects which allowed me
to expand my knowledge on production techniques
and both hardware and software.
Current Study
The course creative media productions and technology
level 3 has allowed me to expand my skills in lot of
different forms of the media. It has pushed me out of my
comfort zone to try new projects and use skills which I
normally wouldn’t chose to do.
I have found that all the topic that I have done I have
been interested in and motivated to learn as many new
skills as possible.
I have also been able to have a couple of trips which got
me thinking about my future career in the media.
Make projects for mock clients has allowed me to start
thinking more professionally. A reason I want to go to
university is to be able to get more opportunities to get
client work and make a project to meet their needs.
The Future
• After university I would like to do a masters degree in the
chosen area of the media that I feel that I am strongest in.
Going to university will help me to find out which part of
the media I both enjoy the most and which I am best at.
• I would also love to get a teaching degree for media, in case
my plans change and so that I also have a back up career.
• At the moment my ideal job would be a video editor or
camera man for either television or film.
• If non of them went to plan then I would look to do some
freelance work where I can both film and edit videos
together for a client.
• University would help build my skills, techniques and
knowledge for all of these potential career paths.
Outside College
• I make YouTube videos for my channel. This
allows me to constantly film and edit videos
trying out new techniques and strengthening my
production skills.
• I occasionally make logos, thumbnail's and
channel art for YouTube using photoshop which
constantly allows me to keep using my skills and
to try new things out to strengthen them.
• I make small video projects on the side which
improves my knowledge of things such as lighting
and camera positioning.
Conclusion
• I want to go to university so that I can acquire the
skills to be able to make professional projects for
clients and so that I can be in media production
full time.
• Going to university will also show me what it
would be like working withing a larger team to
create projects and show me how to make
professional projects for clients. It will also take
me out of some of my comfort zones to push me
to expand my skill sets which I normally wouldn’t
chose to use.
Introduction
I am applying to a film and television production course.
This because they cover lots of different projects which
will expand my skill set for a later career. From the last 3
years of doing level 2 and level 3 creative media
production I have always enjoyed the hands on filming
and editing production side which this course covers. I
have learned so many skills and acquired more
knowledge about film production and I enjoy all of it.
Filmmaking and media production is my biggest passion
and its help define who I am.
Going to university and learning more about these
chosen areas and acquiring new media skills will be a big
step to achieving my dreams in the media.
