Application For The Cloud Service Provider
Applications in today s world consume resources on a wide variety of scale, one application
could be CPU based while another could be network based which mean each application would
saturate a few resources and under utilize a few. With cloud computing, Pay as you go enables
you to pay only for the utilized. For example, an application consumes only 50% of the
processing power; you need not pay for the entire set of machines and would only pay for the
utilized rate and cloud providers offer competitive prices today. To add to it operating costs like
building space, power, cooling, maintenance of servers and network will be on the cloud service
provider. The installation, upgrades and patches are easily done as cloud provider usually relies
on virtual machines instead of physical equipment. According to a study, in the year of 2000,
45% of IT budget was spent on capital expenditure whereas only 6% of the resulting server
capacity was utilized1. In this scenario, in the next couple of years the cost of server maintenance
would exceed the capital expenditure invested with very less utilization ratio. Datacenters of large
scales can reduce the economies and time of computing to a large extent and also contribute to the
Green IT initiative saving the environment. Cloud also offers potential benefits like scalability
where adding additional resources can be done in matter of hours and also eliminates the need for
huge capital expenditure which enables startups access to large

Henderson Hasselbalch Lab Report
In the first experiment my partner and I selected to produce a buffer that contained 35mL of .1M
sodium acetate with 10 mL of .2M acetic acid with the excepted pH of the solution to be 5. We
used C1V1=C2V2 to first calculate the theoretical concentration of both the weak acid and the weak
base in the buffer solution. Then using the theoretical concentration and the Henderson Hasselbalch
equation we were able to calculate the excepted pH. After calculating the pH we then measured the
experimental pH of the produced buffer and found it to be 4.9. This showcased that there was a
difference of 2% between the theoretical pH and the experimental pH. We further measured the
buffering capacity of three different samples one being the buffer that... Show more content on

switching the micropipette tip between the spotting of the amino acids. Also not wiping down the

What Are The External Factors Of John Deere
Companies often run into roadblocks when trying to move their business forward. Often times they
center their focus on the internal and external factors that effect the business. Focusing on
progressing in today s economy external factors becomes priority for businesses. Being able to
focus on these trends help business to strategically plan for any unforeseen circumstances. Before
we evaluate the external factors we must understand there are two distinguished type of trends in
the industry/economy. There are trends that offer strategic opportunities and the other that oppose
threats to the company. Being able to distinguish between the two can open sectors of opportunities
and new ventures for the company. John Deere also known as Deere Co. has preceded many
external factors in their corporationsome of which may be posed as threats and others that are
opportunities. Each trend is identified by a specific weight to help businesses to deal with them
accordingly. For John Deere being able to obtain patents has been of ease along with innovation of e
commerce platforms. Nothing weighs in than international presence in the global markets. As these
factors identify as opportunities there is always proposition for threats. John Deere produces

Why Telecommuting Is Becoming A Popular Subject
Abstract
This paper will begin with the subject of telecommuting and how it is evolving in today s
workplace. The research will help identify why telecommuting is becoming a popular subject and
why it is desired for both employees and employers. Also to understand the differences of working
in an office environment or telecommuting and what the outcomes may be. If employers and
employees fail to have awareness of the challenges that come with telecommuting it can be
damaging. Understanding the challenges to help employers identify if telecommuting is beneficial
or negative for their employees. This paper has research of productivity, job satisfaction, and

More employees are converting to telecommuting due to a variety of reasons. The current
business paradigm shift recognizes that space and time no longer contractually define the mode
and nature of work. Workers do not have to go to where the work is instead, work is now sent to
where the workers are in homes, satellite offices, and neighborhood work centers, (Nyaanga,
2012). Author Solomon makes a valid point in his article since many people do not want to do
the daily commute five to six days a week. Not only does it waste actual work time, money for
transportation, but also the convenience capabilities for employees. The convenience certainly
applies to employees who do not live close to the office setting or live in a very populated area with
heavy traffic.
Telecommuting Advantages
For over 30 years, the workplace has undergone a series of transformations such as the integration of
technology into business work design, product innovation, development, processes, performance,
delivery, productivity, creativity, competitiveness, and worker flexibility, (Nyaanga, 2012). Having
the technology accessible to the Intel of employee s homes enables more employees to have the

Legalism And Confucianism
Confucianism, together with Mohism and Legalism, is three out of the four main philosophical
teachings in ancient China. Chinese philosophers such as Confucius, Mo Tzu, and Han Fei Tzu
had their own views on life. The teachings of Mo Zi both resembled and greatly differed from
that of Confucius; as for Han Feizi he took a totally different approach. The three books written by
each philosopher, the Analects, the Mozi and the Han Feizi each discuss how power should be
manifested in a society which affects the people and the state. Although each of the three figures
are concerned with power, Confucius believes the manifestation of power is being moral and

According to Mo Tzu, the concept of universality is a way to prevent a power imbalance. He
urged that all people follow Heaven in this by practicing universal love. Mo Tzu believed that all
were equal before the lord of the heavens. Mo Tzu saw Heaven and associated that with God.
God being someone who loves all people no matter their class or ethnicity. Also, he believed if
God loves everyone equally, people should strive to love one another in the same manner. He
believed that the powers of heaven acted on the world and exercised a love for all humankind. It
is stated, The principle of universality is the way of the sage kings, the means of bringing safety
to the rulers and officials and of assuring ample food and clothing to the people... It is the way of
the sage kings and great benefit to the people. (The Mozi, 49) His standard of action is strictly
based on utility; love for all human beings is demonstrated by satisfying their immediate
material needs and by abandoning all forms of activity and expense that do not contribute to the
feeding, clothing and housing of the people. He spoke of the value of the labor of common
folks, and he advocated promoting people to positions of power solely on the strength of their
abilities and virtues. It is taught that it is necessary to recognize that to balance power is that
people should not prioritize partially, but universally. With his Universal Love philosophy, he
specified that a government would have no need to attack or have a war with another state. By
not having war between each other there would be peace, and it would stimulate the economy by
saving money. This would benefit everyone especially commoners because it will eliminate their
suffering, but also just all people in general because all people should be equal. The next

##taire, Candide, And Nicolas Toussaints, The Noailles...
Before the French Revolution began, people were openly expressing their dissatisfaction with
French society through written means. The discontent comes from many areas, but a large focus
comes from the nobility. Voltaire, Candide, or Optimism, Isabelle de CharriГЁre, The Nobleman
(1763), and Nicolas Toussaint le Moyne des Essarts, The Noailles Affair (1786), gives a clear
representation of how the nobilityis viewed in the second half of the eighteenth century. Writers
represented most of French nobility as mainly being only concerned about their family heritage
and luxurious privileges, which greatly corresponds with reality as can be seen in William
Doyle s The Oxford History of the French Revolution. Heritage, or family lineage, for a French
nobleman or woman was very important to him or her, due to the fact that only a person born
from a noble could be of noble rank. A satirical viewpoint of this belief can be perceived in the
work of Candide, or Optimism by Voltaire. Voltaire wrote of how the Baron s sister would not
marry a man because he could only ever give proof of seventy one [quartering s], the rest of his
genealogical tree having been lost through the ravages of time (3). The satire of this statement is in
the amount of quarterings, history of nobility in a family, that he would have had to show. Seventy
one quartering s is possibly as far back as to the very creation of France as a nation, virtually
impossible to show. Due to this attention towards ancient

Plagiarism Is Ruining The Creative World
Plagiarism, piracy, and lack of proper netiquette are all scourges of the creative world. All three
concepts reduce either the value of one s created content or the ability to cooperate in a civilized
manner. Lacking respect of these concepts will cause society to miss out on the immense
opportunities for of our civilization that the interconnected world can now bring.
According to the Online Etymology Dictionary, Plagiarism comes from the Latin phrase Plagiarus
which means Thief or Kidnapper. ([Def. 2]. (n.d.). In Online Etymology Dictionary). A Harvard

just and fair. Living up to the expectations of society can be difficult at times, but can be
achieved by taking proper care of your actions. Whether it s taking credit for a text you didn t

Prison Isolation In Prison
Isolation. The only thing felt in the cells of Macintosh state penitentiary. However it is in this
isolation, where we find security. There are two types of people, in which call this place their
home. The guilty, and non guilty. Who am I kidding, everyone s guilty even if you didn t kill the
man. The only difference is the guilty admit it. The guilty have accepted their fate, prepared to
spend the rest of their lives in the strict confines of prison. The looks on your families and friends
faces makes you guilty. What was once a, young happy boy, who couldn t hurt anything, is now a
cold hearted killer. The nons, well they will forever be in limbo, never at peace.

The Pros And Cons Of Religious Vaccination
There are several religious exemptions that followers can seem to justify but some cases seem to
be outrageous and a threat to society. One of these exemptions being, religious vaccine exemption
which seems to be a controversial topic even in today s society. Although, there is not an abundance
of religious followers who are against vaccinationa few do seem to rise publicly once in a while
which leads to a media frenzy. Religions such as, Christian Scientists and the Dutch Reformed
Church are some of the religions in the past having followers known of creating controversy in
this topic. In which then, stirs the public on establishing an opinion on who to side with and what
is right and wrong. For example, there are cases where children entering schools are not
vaccinated due to their parent s religious beliefs. Should this extreme violation towards safety be
allowed? No, I believe that most cases of religious vaccineexemptions are morally unjustifiable and
wrong.
Any act that unnecessarily endangers other human beings and society is morally unjustifiable and
wrong. I believe that when there s an option where something can be easily preventable and is
known to be avoidable then it should be accomplished with such method. When someone decides to
purposely chose an alternative option in which danger and negative consequences may become
pertinent and thus, the outcome it is wrong. There s no reason a sane human being should decide to

Difference Between Alland And Alice In Wonderland
After reading Alice s Adventures in Wonderland and then watching the Disney movie Alice in
Wonderland, I found that there were a couple of main plot differences. A main plot difference was
that the poem the Caterpillar asked Alice to Recite was different in the book than it was in the
movie. In the movie, Alice recited a poem titled How Doth the Little Crocodile, and in the book she
recites the poem titled You Are Old, Father William. The Caterpillar is also portrayed much
meaner throughout the movie compared to the book. At the end of the book, Alice woke up her
sister and told her about the dreams that she had. It turned out that the sister also dreamt
something very similar. In the movie though, Alice had woken up her parents. I feel that the
meaning between the two different poems that are read aloud by Alice are very different. One
being more a story to follow and the other being a short riddle to solve. Each of them are
important, but in a movie context, I feel that the short riddle is a little easier to follow.
Wonderland is not supposed to make much sense, so if the riddle confuses the viewer, they are
able to think that it is just another silly part of Wonderland. The Caterpillar was not the nicest
character to Alice throughout the book, but after watching the movie I realized that that was
probably the nicest the author could have made him. The movie producers had him be awfully
mean to Alice. I think that Alice waking up to tell her sisters is a better way to end

Training Is An Accurate Program For All Different People
FITT, SAID, and SPORT are all training regimens to provide an accurate program for all different
people, whether they are fit or unfit. All these programs show different qualities on what should be
expected, but the specific principles of exercise are progression, regularity, overload, variety,
recovery, balance, and specificity. (PowerPoint) According to the Physical Activity Guidelines you
are to do 150 minutes of moderate exerciseand 75 minutes of vigorous activity a week and 2 or
more days of strength training that works the 7 major musclegroups. Most people have different
reasons they work out, in the video some expressed doing it for their weight and health while
others said it brings them joy and peace of mind (Physical Activity Guidelines). This is important to
these training programs because not everyone is the same; therefore you need to base a program on
the individual.
The FITT principal describes how to safely apply principles of overload and progression and
stands for frequency, intensity, time, and the type of exercise (FITT Principle). These principles
are important, you need to have progression when you are in a program to be able to see benefits.
An example would be lifting 5 lbs. for a long time; you eventually need to either increase the
frequency, time, or intensity to start to progress. With progression also comes overload. Progression
of overload needs to be consistent and tailored to each client with the starting point of the training

How It s Made And How We Get It
ELECTRCITITY How it s made and how we get it.
Introduction
The world runs on electricity, almost everything we own needs it. But where does it come from
and how do we get it? Power plants are responsible for supplying the world with electricity to run
everything from major factories to house hold appliances such as toasters. A power plant is quite
simple and works similar to a large scale steam engine. The steam generated from the heating of
water is used to turn a turbine which then turns a coil which sits in between a set of magnets, as
the coils Electromotive force is created and a current is made. The rotating of the coil creates a
change within the magnetic field of the magnets thus creating a voltage. There are many types of ...

The high temperate water vapour travels through the pipes and then turns blades that are attached to

mechanical energy also known as kinetic energy is then converted into electrical energy. (http:/

because of the pipes begin to narrow just before reaching the blades which increases pressure
difference. (As shown in figure 2). (DOUBLE CHECK THIS) The reason pressure increases
because as Bernoulli s law states the flow of air acts like fluid, thus as the air is flowing through
the pipes it acts like liquid. The air is trying to push through the narrow pipe which turns the blades
on the turbine. (http://www.britannica.com/science/Bernoullis theorem)The blades are placed at a
point where pressure will be the highest making the use of steam more efficient.
The turbine wastes a large amount of energy which is converted into other forms of energy such as
heat, friction and sound. In order to keep the cost minimal and efficiency of the power plant high,
the steam is then condensed and cooled

Pennsylvania German Architecture Pennsylvania German architecture is very unique to
Southeastern, Pennsylvania. It spread through Pennsylvania; however, it is most prominent where
it originated in Southeast, Pennsylvania. Most homesteads consist of a main house, along with
domestic outbuildings. A domestic outbuilding is an auxiliary buildingon a property, and one that is
functionally associated with the domestic aspect of the homestead, that is, with the work and other
activities that take place in the area of the dwelling. (Domestic Outbuildings, p. 66) The domestic

architecture. It has been an idea that has been used for centuries in many different cultures and is
still used in developing countries today. Most outdoor privies were basic structures with lightly

Tulpehocken Manor. Tulpehocken Manor has a large and elaborate Victorian privy, of frame
construction and sporting a tall cupola ventilator. (Domestic outbuildings, p. 85). These more

Question 1 3 Intrinsic value is the true value of the organizations which based on real position of
market share, company s assets, and perception of the future. This value can be same as market
value if factors are same in the estimation process. On the other hand, intrinsic value may be
different from market value depending on information used in evaluation. For example, if
management hides negative information, market value might be higher than intrinsic values
(Ehrhardt and Brigham 9). Question 1 4 Edmund Enterprises recently made a large investment to
upgrade its technology. Even though this investment cannot improve the income in short term, it
can reduce the production cost. Therefore, in short term investment cost will increase in the
Income Statement because of the new investment; as a result profits will decrease and company s
earnings per share will decrease. However, in the financial markets, this news affects positively on
stock s market price. Also, this investment can raise the company s intrinsic value since it can
reduce the production costs (Ehrhardt and Brigham 30). Question 1 5 Capital can be transferred by

Licenses are signed for a different time periods. Licensing agreements are subject to negotiation and
they vary from company to company and from industry to industry. A major disadvantage of
licensing is the company s dependence on the local licensee to generate revenues and, thus,
royalties, usually paid as a percentage on sales volume only. Another disadvantage is the resulting
uncertainty of product quality.
Franchising Its a special form of licensing in which the franchiser makes a total marketing program
available, including the brand name, logo, products, and method of operation.
Many companies find it to their advantage to manufacture locally instead of supplying the particular
market with products made elsewhere. Numerous factors such as laws, political considerations, local
costs, tariifs and market size may affect a choice to manufacture locally, so it requires fair amount of
attention before making a final decision. The local production may be contract manufacturing,

The Value Of Rubbish In A Consumer Society
This assignment will aim to outline the ways in which rubbish can be said to have value in a
consumer society. It will attempt to outline all the various ways value is taken in one form or
another from refuse which will include; the ecological value by reducing the space taken up in
landfill sites, the value of profit in reducing Local Authority Costs by the selling of recyclable
rubbish, the value of conserving natural resources when recyclingpaper, glass, plastic, clothing and
IT equipment. The charitable value of providing clothing both in UK and abroad for those in need
of help and food to those who might starve without the aid of charity. The value of education both

The value of recycling paper in a consumer society is the saving of natural resources which would
be for each tonne of recycled paper saves 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil, 3 cubic yards of landfill
space, 4,000 kilowatts of energy and 7,000 gallons of water. Again there would be the ecological
value of less landfill space consumed.
Recycling one glass bottle saves enough energy to power a television for 15 minutes and when you
consider in a consumer society the average household goes through 330 glass bottles and jars per
year this would equate to a saving of 82.5 hours per year per household. For every 1,000 tonnes of
glass recycled a total of 345,000 KWH of energy is saved, 312 tonnes of co2, 1,200 tonnes of raw
material and 1,000 tonnes of landfill space is saved. The value of recycling glass would be
reduced natural resources used and less landfill space consumed. When you consider glass
created 3,000 years ago is still here today it is quite worrying to consider the amount of glass
already in landfill sites. Another consideration would be the pure waste of all the glass buried in
landfill sites as glass can be recycled repeatedly without any degradation of the material
Before 2007 it was not possible to recycle plastic bottles into new plastic bottles and the
recyclability was limited to what they could be recycled into. From 2007 however due to a
process called depolymerisation plastic bottles can now be processed into new

Examples Of Gender Equality In The Franklin s Tale
Chaucer, in The Franklin s Tale , takes Boccaccio s older Italian tale Filocolo and changes three
distinct characteristics that transforms the tale into a more modern approach when dealing with
courtly love. Chaucer takes the traditional concepts of gender equality, social class, and infidelity
and changes them slightly in order to convey how lust can affect one s need for dominance, and
make an individual participate in abnormal behavior, such as uncontrollable lust, guilt, and pride.
The concept of gender equality is discussed frequently throughout The Franklin s Tale . Chaucer
takes Boccaccio s original pattern of having two knights fight over one lower class woman and
scrambles it by having a lowly squire chase after a higher class maiden who is already married to
an absent husband. This change helps to increase the intensity of the tale by having the women in
the traditional place of dominance over the men. Another mention of gender equality is within the
relationship of Dorigen, the maiden, and Arveragus, the knight, who originally agree on a
marriage where they are both equals, however, when Arveragus gets the chance he chooses to go
away to fight in a war and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chaucer adds this part to The Franklin s Tale in order to highlight the impracticalities a woman
faces in that time period, which come in the form of death if a woman were to seek satisfaction
for her own wants. The topic of infidelity is also added to show the woman s perspective and
guilt when partaking in a game of courtly love. Chaucer includes this passage on affairs in order to
show the consequences for a woman if she were to chase dominance in her own life. The traditional
pattern is, therefore, transformed to convey that guilt is a consequence for a woman who

Le Havre: Le Grande Quai
The work I choose was Le Havre: Le Grande Quai, by Maurice de Vlaminck. The artwork was
created in 1906 during the Modern Architecture era and the Expressionist Movement (Saint
Louis Art Museum). The painting was created on location at the port of Le Havre in
northwestern France (Maurice De Vlaminck). The artwork was created on a medium of oil on
canvas, utilizing the primary colors along with white for contrast. Scaling of the work is
proportional or close to true to life, there is nothing that appears to be prominent or grander in
scale. This is similar in scale to what you would see if someone had taken a photo of the port.
The work has traveled quite a bit during its lifespan. After production it was acquired by
Ambroise Vollard in 1910. From there it ended up in a few different galleries and individual s
hands, including Vollard once more. In 1956 the artwork was acquired by Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur D.
May. One year later it was gifted by the Mays to the St. Louis Art Museum. The artwork has been
there ever since (Saint Louis Art Museum). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Romeo And Juliet Tragedy Quotes
True Tragedy The parents sadly watch their children being carried into the family tomb. The
play, by William Shakespeare, displays the relationships of Romeo and Juliet. This drama takes
place in Verona, Italy, where the Capulets and Montagues are feuding. Poor relationships, deceit,
and poor advice leads to tragedy. The teenagers relationships with their families are soon tested.
Juliet, however, is resolute in her decision to die rather than enter into a false marriage: If all
else fail, myself have power to die (Shakespeare). This quote shows how young relationships are
more powerful than elders. Romeo and Juliet show how strong young relationships really are.
They ended many feuds and problems in their life because they don t have to worry about
anything. When you are young, you don t have bills to pay, a family to take care of, and most of
the time no job. Romeo and Juliet has nothing to worry about because they are young and free.
This means their life is easy and stress free, and elder relationships struggle sometimes because they
go in debt, care about themselves more than the other person, and they get tired of eachother. Friar

Similarities And Differences Between Hamlet And Much Ado...
In William Shakespeare s works, emotions surrounding relationships are presented at different
intensities depending on the genre of the play. Hamlet is a passionate and dark play, where the main
character plots a scheme to avenge his father s murder. As a result, emotions between Ophelia and
Hamlet are heightened and the consequences that arise are severe. Contrastingly, in the comedy
Much Ado About Nothing, Shakespeare intends for a light hearted storyline approach. Conflicts in

Violence And Violence In Townie By Andre Dubus III
Townie, written by Andre Dubus III, is a memoir that portrays the detailed events, good or bad, of
Andre Dubus III s life as an adolescent until maturity. Dubus describes himself gaudily, explaining
his battles as a boy growing up in the Boston area. Growing up without a cookie cutter father, Andre
never had a strong and omniscient figure to help him throughout childhood. The only thing that
became a common theme in his life was violence. Violence is present in his lifetime through many
forms, starting as him getting beaten up by bullies and ending with him getting in fights as an adult
with little to no motive. This continual violence brings out a fury and terror that Andre has to fight
against his entire life. While he does eventually become content with his life without fighting, he
initially has to fight through many obstructions to get to this point. These hindrances, though from
an outsider s perspective are tragic, shape him into the person he is today. The memoir begins its
timeline in Andre s adolescence. Going to school, he is petrified of violence and refuses to
participate in any fights, despite them consuming his surrounding environment. It wasn t abnormal
for a fight to occur after school, and everyone in the area loved it. Throughout the multiple
neighborhoods he lived in, and at schools he attended, there were always kids that kept their eye
out for someone smaller than them to beat up and he was the perfect target. One of his very first

Unknown Solution Of Metal Nitrate Salts Lab Report
RESULTS DISCUSSION The unknown solution of metal nitrate salts was identified to contain
silver (Ag+) and Calcium (Ca2). These cations were discovered through a qualitative procedure that
systematically separated the unknown ions from the solution by introducing known reagents and
observing the resulting reaction that presented characteristic chemical properties unique to each
cation. These observations guided the flow of the procedure, with the expected results of each step
accumulating to justify and confirm the proper identities of the cations. To begin the qualitative
scheme, 6 M HCl was added into the test tube containing the unknown solution. This step was
essential because HCl (aq) was expected to separate the two unknown ions on the principle of
solubility, the ability of an amount of a substance to dissolve in a specific amount of solvent.1 In

Descriptive Essay On The House In My House
A SIKH In the living room, the cuckoo clock said, Ticktock, seven thirty o clock, time to get up,

fine green silk, and leaves embroidered so delicately that they might have landed there in spring
and just sunk in, but I know they took hundreds of hours to sew. The black curtains are linen, the
kind of black that is untouched by hands and devoid of dust. A cursory look to the right shows
me the almost hidden cords that are used to open and close them. In the living room, there is no
television, no dining table, only the chairs arranged around the bespoke fireplace which leaps
with a gas flame. The photographs are black and white, not casual family pictures, but arranged
to look like such by a professional, anyone of them wouldn t look out of place. The floor is a high
polished wood, dark and free of either dust or clutter. I always felt like this was my home. I belong
here. The sound of the cuckoo clocksaying, Ticktock, seven thirty o clock, time to get up, time to

There are many threats to the coral reefs, but one of the worst things that we do to damage of them
are using dynamite and cyanide to catch our fishes. Dynamite fishing is particularly used near
Tanzania, because fishermen find it easier to catch fish by killing them and the letting them float to
the surface. Rather than them using a net, because it would either snag on the coral reef or miss all
the fishes. The dynamite technique consists of throwing any type of dynamite or waterproof
exploding object, into the water, waiting for it to reach the coral reef (home to the fishes).
Paddling away from the explosive, then pushing the button which will explode the coral reef. Last,
you collect the dead fish that float to the top of the water, because their air bladders cause them to
become resilient. Some fishermen use dynamite fishing at night to catch even more fish, which may
sound weird because they can t see anything at night. However, what happens is the fishermen shine
a bright light into the water, which attracts small and large fish. Then with a push of a button they
explode the dynamite causing all of those animals to die, but in addition to the fish they also kill
shrimp and crabs without knowing. A man from the World Wildlife Fund observed the explosions,
and created a chart based on his findings. Then he concluded that around nineteen

Dennis Kozlowski s Leadership In Crisis
Tyco international is a corporation that was founded in 1960 Arthur J. Rosenberg. It began as an
investment and holding company that eventually expanded into Healthcare, Electrical and
Electronics, Specialty Products and Fire and Security Services. Tyco became a solid publically
traded company under its founder and leader Arthur J Rosenberg. Under his leadership, Tyco not
just expanded but grew that between 1973 and 1982 the company went from $34 million to 500
million in consolidated sales. (Ferrell, Fraedrich, Ferrell, 2011). The story of a leadership in crisis
reflects on the governance and unethical misconduct of its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dennis
Kozlowski. Dennis Kozlowski entered the corporation in 1975 and at the time was under the
leadership of Joseph Gaziano. Dennis was mentored by Gaziano and was quite impressed by the
lavish, opulent and affluent lifestyle. In 1982 Gaziano passed away and John F. Fort III became
CEO. His leadership style was that of one that was quite frugal in his spending. This was a change
within the culture of Tyco as it moved in a new direction and Kozlowski had to adapt to the
changes. Fort Leadership and Managementstyle was to cut back on what he saw as wasteful
spending. He opposed the extravagance of that of his predecessor and directed the company focus
more towards making a profit for investors and shareholders. Kozlowski adapted to the changes
made by Fort and also supported the vision and new direction the

while in independent higher standards errors. Even when heteroskedasticity corrected standard

This consistent routine has embedded itself within the individual with no possible chance of exodus.
The feud and church goers are similar even in their dress attire, yet another entity these two have
share in. Col. Grangerford is described as a gentleman all over; and so was his family (Twain, 96).
The
Colonel was kind, well mannered, quiet and far from frivolish. The
Colonel dressed well, was clean shaven and his face had not a sign of red in it anywheres (Twain,
96). These qualities are similar to those that one would find at a religious service. The person would
most probably attend in their best outfit, clean shaven, and cleaned from head to toe. Their manners
would be comparable to Col. Grangerford as well, acting like a gentleman at all times during while
attending the service. Both the feud and the attendance of church are this consistent routine, and
both are followed till without understanding until the individual who partakes in them parish. For
thousands of years, people have attended some type of liturgical service without full understanding
of it, and for several generations, the Shepardsons and

Teams Are An Integral Part Of Most Business Situations
In all employment situations, there will be circumstances where an employee will find themselves
on a team with a specific problem to solve or goal to reach. Teams are an integral part of most
business situations. Leadership within the respective organization often creates teams. The way
that the leadershipinteracts with the teams can affect how cohesive the team is and if they reach
their goals. These two groups can cause a business to succeed or fail.
Teams
Utilizing teamwork has been a key to the success of our military for many years. The most
effective of these is the cross functional team. This is a team comprised of, employees from about
the same hierarchical level, but from different work areas, who come together to accomplish a task.
(Robbins Judge, 2009) One of these teams I was a part of was involved in ensuring a large multi

Censorship from Obscene Material
Censorship From Obscene Material
Today, in the 1990 s, citizens in our society are being bombarded with obscene material from
every direction. From the hate lyrics of Gun s N Roses to the satanic lyrics of Montley Crue and
Marilyn Manson to the sexually explicit graphical content of today s movies, the issue is how
much society is going to permit and where we, as a society, should we draw the line. The freedom
of speech has always been considered a right, but that doesn t mean that you can shout, Fire! in a
crowded movie theater. The real question is whether such material is harmful or dangerous to our
society. Many people are asking whether or not we should censor offensive material. They believe
that some material is too ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The critics of this point of view think that private sector censorship will not be enough. They
believe that the entertainment industry will not be able to control itself. Private sector
restrictions do not have the authority of the law, therefore they cannot successfully draw the line
between what can and cannot be said in public. The third and final possible solution is no
censorship at all. While many Americans are troubled by what they feel is offensive speech, and
feel that it should be restricted by law, advocates of the third solution disagree. They feel that
there is more harm in restricting free speech than by the offensive speech itself. In the bill of
rights, the first amendment says, Congress shall make no long abridging the freedom of speech.
The first amendment was intended to protect the minorities from the tyranny of the majorities. The
advocates of this view feel that the minority has a right to express themselves regardless of the
opinion of the majority. Free speech matters because it encourages creativity. Without the freedom
of speech, America would probably be dull and drab like a communist country such as the former
USSR. For example, the comedy of Andrew Dice Clay, considered offensive by some, shouldn t be

Jessica Coughed And Spluttered On The Darkness
JESSICA COUGHED AND SPLUTTERED IN THE DARKNESS. The thick dust clogged her
nostrils and she tried not to breathe too deeply. Holt had grabbed her arm and pulled her to safety,
just as a large section of the cave roof had collapsed above her.
Lucky I spotted this passageway, eh, child, or we would be resting underneath that, he said
solemnly.
Thank you, Jessica replied, rubbing her eyes trying to clear the dust out of them. But what happened
to the rest? Where are my brother and sister?
Holt tried not to look worried, Do not fret child, I am sure that they are safe on the other side of
this, he said, pointing to the large pile of rocks that had blocked the main passageway. All we need
to do is find a way around it.
The lantern ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She pulled it out and flicked the switch, hoping the fall had not broken it as well.
Light flooded the cave. Through the settling dust, they could see the narrow passageway leading
off into the darkness. It had been roughly hewn out of the rock.
The Gnome pointed along the tunnel. Well, I guess we go this way. Switch off your... he motioned
towards her torch. Save it for when this runs out.
It s a torch, she said flicking it off.
I know that, he called back, marching off down the passage.
They continued on, grateful that they were both of small stature. Anyone a little bigger than them
would have struggled to squeeze through the tight confines of the passageway. The little tunnel
twisted and turned ahead of them, its floor gently sloping away into the darkness. Then the lantern
flickered and died.
Jessica switched on her torch. I don t know how long this will last, she told the Gnome.
Worry not child, I will soon have us out of here, he bragged.
They walked on, the air gradually getting warmer as they descended.
She drank the last of her water and hoped they would soon be reunited with the others. She prayed
Holt was right, and that Danielle and George had not been hurt, or worse, back there in the
explosions.
The tunnel carried on monotonously, getting steeper and narrower. The heat grew more stifling the
deeper they went. She did not know how long they had been walking, but she did know that the
light from her torch was gradually growing

Subliminal Messages Essay example
Are you sure that you aren t being subconsciously manipulated into making decisions that you
wouldn t normally make? Are you sure that over the next few days, your purchases of popcorn
and Coke will be completely under your conscious control? Are you even sure that I haven t
embedded secret messages into this research paper to manipulate you into giving me an A? If you
didn t consciously perceive secret messages but you did perceive them subconsciously, then they
would be called subliminal. The word subliminal literally means below the threshold (Encarta 99).
The threshold is the level at which you are aware of stimuli, so if something is below the
threshold, or subliminal, you are not consciously aware of it. Therefore, you may be... Show more

Disney movies have displayed, and have been sued for, embedding subliminal messages. In their
movie, The Little Mermaid, they show the male genitalia as a part of the castle. People may
think that people were just trying to find perverted things in innocent Disney movies, but
apparently it wasn t innocent enough to keep it on the cover. The newer cover does not display
a castle on it. Another subliminal message involving Disney is in the movie Aladdin. Right
before he sings the song A Whole New World, Aladdin says, Take off your clothes under his
breath. My last example of a Disney related incident involving subliminal messages is in the
movie The Lion King. When the king lion falls off of the cliff, you can see that the dust around
him and the stars in the sky spell out the word Sex. There are many subliminal messages in our
products today, but one I find most disturbing is the Camel Cigarettes advertisement. The Picture
on the left shows a man standing proudly with his genitalia erect. The picture on the right shows
the camel that is named the Smooth Character. If you look at his nose, you will come to realize
that it is in fact the male genitalia. (Key xviii) (Key xix) There is proof that shows just how
influential these ads were to the marketing of Camel cigarettes. In 1978, there were seven surveys
taken by 3,400 smokers between grades seven

Speech On How To Fix A Crashed Car Analysis
Introduction Today I will be giving a speech that is a mix between a demonstration and an
informal about how to fix a crashed car. I will go through the specific steps needed to get any car
back on the road. Slide 2 The first step in repairing a car is to decide whether or not it is worth it
to fix the panel. The picture on the left shows a small dent in the car which would be the perfect
panel to fix, whereas the picture on the right shows a hood that is crumpled and destroyed. With
enough patience both hoods could be fixed but it would be time and money ahead to get a new
hood for the one on the right. Slide 3 Now that you know you are going to fix the panel, you have
to take the correct steps to get it done. The first step is to clean... Show more content on

There are many kinds of clear coat and they all perform in many different ways. One of the
biggest things you need to look for is whether you want to use a spot panel clear or an overall
clear coat. This is really just based on whether you are doing one panel or the whole car. Slide 24
Once everything is covered in base and your decals are how you want them, it is ready to bury
everything under clear coat. Clear coat is what makes a car look good or bad and needs to be
perfect. It is critical that when spraying clear you take or time and get it to look perfect, without
getting any runs. This is crucial, because if you get a run in clear you have to stop and wait for
to dry, then re paint then whole thing. If it comes out good, then you are finally almost done
with the car. Slide 25 Something that is constantly changing is the style and type of spray guns
there are. A few years back everybody used guns that had the cup on the bottom and ran using a
siphon method. Now today almost everyone uses a gravity feed overhead cup gun. These are
most efficient at using every drop of paint. Every gun is different in cup size, spraying capacity,
and size of the spray head. These all need to be looked at to find the correct gun for what you are

  • 2. Application For The Cloud Service Provider Applications in today s world consume resources on a wide variety of scale, one application could be CPU based while another could be network based which mean each application would saturate a few resources and under utilize a few. With cloud computing, Pay as you go enables you to pay only for the utilized. For example, an application consumes only 50% of the processing power; you need not pay for the entire set of machines and would only pay for the utilized rate and cloud providers offer competitive prices today. To add to it operating costs like building space, power, cooling, maintenance of servers and network will be on the cloud service provider. The installation, upgrades and patches are easily done as cloud provider usually relies on virtual machines instead of physical equipment. According to a study, in the year of 2000, 45% of IT budget was spent on capital expenditure whereas only 6% of the resulting server capacity was utilized1. In this scenario, in the next couple of years the cost of server maintenance would exceed the capital expenditure invested with very less utilization ratio. Datacenters of large scales can reduce the economies and time of computing to a large extent and also contribute to the Green IT initiative saving the environment. Cloud also offers potential benefits like scalability where adding additional resources can be done in matter of hours and also eliminates the need for huge capital expenditure which enables startups access to large ... Henderson Hasselbalch Lab Report In the first experiment my partner and I selected to produce a buffer that contained 35mL of .1M sodium acetate with 10 mL of .2M acetic acid with the excepted pH of the solution to be 5. We used C1V1=C2V2 to first calculate the theoretical concentration of both the weak acid and the weak base in the buffer solution. Then using the theoretical concentration and the Henderson Hasselbalch equation we were able to calculate the excepted pH. After calculating the pH we then measured the experimental pH of the produced buffer and found it to be 4.9. This showcased that there was a difference of 2% between the theoretical pH and the experimental pH. We further measured the buffering capacity of three different samples one being the buffer that... More employees are converting to telecommuting due to a variety of reasons. The current business paradigm shift recognizes that space and time no longer contractually define the mode and nature of work. Workers do not have to go to where the work is instead, work is now sent to where the workers are in homes, satellite offices, and neighborhood work centers, (Nyaanga, 2012). Author Solomon makes a valid point in his article since many people do not want to do the daily commute five to six days a week. Not only does it waste actual work time, money for transportation, but also the convenience capabilities for employees. The convenience certainly applies to employees who do not live close to the office setting or live in a very populated area with heavy traffic. Telecommuting Advantages For over 30 years, the workplace has undergone a series of transformations such as the integration of technology into business work design, product innovation, development, processes, performance, delivery, productivity, creativity, competitiveness, and worker flexibility, (Nyaanga, 2012). • 7. Legalism And Confucianism Confucianism, together with Mohism and Legalism, is three out of the four main philosophical teachings in ancient China. Chinese philosophers such as Confucius, Mo Tzu, and Han Fei Tzu had their own views on life. The teachings of Mo Zi both resembled and greatly differed from that of Confucius; as for Han Feizi he took a totally different approach. The three books written by each philosopher, the Analects, the Mozi and the Han Feizi each discuss how power should be manifested in a society which affects the people and the state. He urged that all people follow Heaven in this by practicing universal love. Mo Tzu believed that all were equal before the lord of the heavens. Mo Tzu saw Heaven and associated that with God. God being someone who loves all people no matter their class or ethnicity. Also, he believed if God loves everyone equally, people should strive to love one another in the same manner. He believed that the powers of heaven acted on the world and exercised a love for all humankind. It is stated, The principle of universality is the way of the sage kings, the means of bringing safety to the rulers and officials and of assuring ample food and clothing to the people... It is the way of the sage kings and great benefit to the people. (The Mozi, 49) His standard of action is strictly based on utility; love for all human beings is demonstrated by satisfying their immediate material needs and by abandoning all forms of activity and expense that do not contribute to the feeding, clothing and housing of the people. He spoke of the value of the labor of common folks, and he advocated promoting people to positions of power solely on the strength of their abilities and virtues. It is taught that it is necessary to recognize that to balance power is that people should not prioritize partially, but universally. With his Universal Love philosophy, he specified that a government would have no need to attack or have a war with another state. By not having war between each other there would be peace, and it would stimulate the economy by saving money. This would benefit everyone especially commoners because it will eliminate their suffering, but also just all people in general because all people should be equal. • 10. ##taire, Candide, And Nicolas Toussaints, The Noailles... Before the French Revolution began, people were openly expressing their dissatisfaction with French society through written means. The discontent comes from many areas, but a large focus comes from the nobility. Voltaire, Candide, or Optimism, Isabelle de CharriГЁre, The Nobleman (1763), and Nicolas Toussaint le Moyne des Essarts, The Noailles Affair (1786), gives a clear representation of how the nobilityis viewed in the second half of the eighteenth century. Writers represented most of French nobility as mainly being only concerned about their family heritage and luxurious privileges, which greatly corresponds with reality as can be seen in William Doyle s The Oxford History of the French Revolution. Heritage, or family lineage, for a French nobleman or woman was very important to him or her, due to the fact that only a person born from a noble could be of noble rank. A satirical viewpoint of this belief can be perceived in the work of Candide, or Optimism by Voltaire. Voltaire wrote of how the Baron s sister would not marry a man because he could only ever give proof of seventy one [quartering s], the rest of his genealogical tree having been lost through the ravages of time (3). The satire of this statement is in the amount of quarterings, history of nobility in a family, that he would have had to show. Seventy one quartering s is possibly as far back as to the very creation of France as a nation, virtually impossible to show. Due to this attention towards ancient ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Difference Between Alland And Alice In Wonderland After reading Alice s Adventures in Wonderland and then watching the Disney movie Alice in Wonderland, I found that there were a couple of main plot differences. A main plot difference was that the poem the Caterpillar asked Alice to Recite was different in the book than it was in the movie. In the movie, Alice recited a poem titled How Doth the Little Crocodile, and in the book she recites the poem titled You Are Old, Father William. The Caterpillar is also portrayed much meaner throughout the movie compared to the book. At the end of the book, Alice woke up her sister and told her about the dreams that she had. It turned out that the sister also dreamt something very similar. In the movie though, Alice had woken up her parents. I feel that the meaning between the two different poems that are read aloud by Alice are very different. One being more a story to follow and the other being a short riddle to solve. Each of them are important, but in a movie context, I feel that the short riddle is a little easier to follow. Wonderland is not supposed to make much sense, so if the riddle confuses the viewer, they are able to think that it is just another silly part of Wonderland. The Caterpillar was not the nicest character to Alice throughout the book, but after watching the movie I realized that that was probably the nicest the author could have made him. Most people have different reasons they work out, in the video some expressed doing it for their weight and health while others said it brings them joy and peace of mind (Physical Activity Guidelines). This is important to these training programs because not everyone is the same; therefore you need to base a program on the individual. The FITT principal describes how to safely apply principles of overload and progression and stands for frequency, intensity, time, and the type of exercise (FITT Principle). These principles are important, you need to have progression when you are in a program to be able to see benefits. An example would be lifting 5 lbs. for a long time; you eventually need to either increase the frequency, time, or intensity to start to progress. With progression also comes overload. Progression of overload needs to be consistent and tailored to each client with the starting point of the training being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But where does it come from and how do we get it? Power plants are responsible for supplying the world with electricity to run everything from major factories to house hold appliances such as toasters. A power plant is quite simple and works similar to a large scale steam engine. The steam generated from the heating of water is used to turn a turbine which then turns a coil which sits in between a set of magnets, as the coils Electromotive force is created and a current is made. The value of recycling paper in a consumer society is the saving of natural resources which would be for each tonne of recycled paper saves 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil, 3 cubic yards of landfill space, 4,000 kilowatts of energy and 7,000 gallons of water. Again there would be the ecological value of less landfill space consumed. Recycling one glass bottle saves enough energy to power a television for 15 minutes and when you consider in a consumer society the average household goes through 330 glass bottles and jars per year this would equate to a saving of 82.5 hours per year per household. For every 1,000 tonnes of glass recycled a total of 345,000 KWH of energy is saved, 312 tonnes of co2, 1,200 tonnes of raw material and 1,000 tonnes of landfill space is saved. The value of recycling glass would be reduced natural resources used and less landfill space consumed. When you consider glass created 3,000 years ago is still here today it is quite worrying to consider the amount of glass already in landfill sites. Another consideration would be the pure waste of all the glass buried in landfill sites as glass can be recycled repeatedly without any degradation of the material Before 2007 it was not possible to recycle plastic bottles into new plastic bottles and the recyclability was limited to what they could be recycled into. • 25. Examples Of Gender Equality In The Franklin s Tale Chaucer, in The Franklin s Tale , takes Boccaccio s older Italian tale Filocolo and changes three distinct characteristics that transforms the tale into a more modern approach when dealing with courtly love. Chaucer takes the traditional concepts of gender equality, social class, and infidelity and changes them slightly in order to convey how lust can affect one s need for dominance, and make an individual participate in abnormal behavior, such as uncontrollable lust, guilt, and pride. The concept of gender equality is discussed frequently throughout The Franklin s Tale . Chaucer takes Boccaccio s original pattern of having two knights fight over one lower class woman and scrambles it by having a lowly squire chase after a higher class maiden who is already married to an absent husband. This change helps to increase the intensity of the tale by having the women in the traditional place of dominance over the men. Another mention of gender equality is within the relationship of Dorigen, the maiden, and Arveragus, the knight, who originally agree on a marriage where they are both equals, however, when Arveragus gets the chance he chooses to go away to fight in a war and... Violence And Violence In Townie By Andre Dubus III Townie, written by Andre Dubus III, is a memoir that portrays the detailed events, good or bad, of Andre Dubus III s life as an adolescent until maturity. Dubus describes himself gaudily, explaining his battles as a boy growing up in the Boston area. Growing up without a cookie cutter father, Andre never had a strong and omniscient figure to help him throughout childhood. The only thing that became a common theme in his life was violence. Violence is present in his lifetime through many forms, starting as him getting beaten up by bullies and ending with him getting in fights as an adult with little to no motive. This continual violence brings out a fury and terror that Andre has to fight against his entire life. While he does eventually become content with his life without fighting, he initially has to fight through many obstructions to get to this point. These hindrances, though from an outsider s perspective are tragic, shape him into the person he is today. The memoir begins its timeline in Andre s adolescence. Going to school, he is petrified of violence and refuses to participate in any fights, despite them consuming his surrounding environment. It wasn t abnormal for a fight to occur after school, and everyone in the area loved it. Throughout the multiple neighborhoods he lived in, and at schools he attended, there were always kids that kept their eye out for someone smaller than them to beat up and he was the perfect target. These observations guided the flow of the procedure, with the expected results of each step accumulating to justify and confirm the proper identities of the cations. To begin the qualitative scheme, 6 M HCl was added into the test tube containing the unknown solution. There are many threats to the coral reefs, but one of the worst things that we do to damage of them are using dynamite and cyanide to catch our fishes. Dynamite fishing is particularly used near Tanzania, because fishermen find it easier to catch fish by killing them and the letting them float to the surface. Rather than them using a net, because it would either snag on the coral reef or miss all the fishes. The dynamite technique consists of throwing any type of dynamite or waterproof exploding object, into the water, waiting for it to reach the coral reef (home to the fishes). Paddling away from the explosive, then pushing the button which will explode the coral reef. Last, you collect the dead fish that float to the top of the water, because their air bladders cause them to become resilient. Some fishermen use dynamite fishing at night to catch even more fish, which may sound weird because they can t see anything at night. However, what happens is the fishermen shine a bright light into the water, which attracts small and large fish. Then with a push of a button they explode the dynamite causing all of those animals to die, but in addition to the fish they also kill shrimp and crabs without knowing. A man from the World Wildlife Fund observed the explosions, and created a chart based on his findings. Then he concluded that around nineteen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The third and final possible solution is no censorship at all. While many Americans are troubled by what they feel is offensive speech, and feel that it should be restricted by law, advocates of the third solution disagree. They feel that there is more harm in restricting free speech than by the offensive speech itself. In the bill of rights, the first amendment says, Congress shall make no long abridging the freedom of speech.
