An ecosystem is defined as all the living and nonliving things in an environment and how they interact. The document then describes 5 main types of ecosystems: tundra which has frozen ground all year; rainforests which can be tropical or temperate like those in the Pacific Northwest; deserts which are the driest with limited water supply; grasslands covered in grasses and receiving a medium amount of rain; and wetlands where the ground is covered in water for part of the year.

The ground the surface is
frozen all year.
 Rain Forests: Not all rain forests are
Tropical.
The mild and rainy climate of Pacific
Northwest supports temperate rain
forests.

5.  Desert: Is the driest ecosystem.
Some plants and animals have
adapted to limited water supply.
 Grassland: Are covered
with grasses. They
receive a medium amount
of rain.
 Wetlands: the ground is
covered with water for at least
part of the year.
