Attempted Murder and Criminal Acts
In this essay, I will describe the elements of a criminal act, address the law of factual
impossibility, the law of legal impossibility, and distinguish whether the alleged crime in the
scenario is a complete but imperfect attempt or an incomplete attempt. I will address the ethical or
moralistic concerns associated with allowing a criminal defendant to avoid criminal responsibility
by successfully asserting a legal defense such as impossibility. The court was clearly wrong to
dismiss the charge against Jack of attempted murderof Bert.
A crime consists of an actus reus and a mens rea, in order to obtain a conviction of a criminal
charge there must be a concurrence between the actus reus and mens rea. The elements of a
criminal act ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Transferred intent is when an individual has the intent to cause harm to one person but injures
another one instead (Lippman, 2012). In order to meet the requirements of transferred intent, two
questions must be asked and both questions must have a yes to apply transferred intent. The first
question: If contact had been made with the intended object (Bert), would there have been a crime
(National Paralegal College, 2014)? The answer is yes, there is a crime against pointing and firing
a gun at a human being and first degree murder. The second question: If the object with which
contact was made (Pratt) had been the intended target, would there have been a crime (National
Paralegal College, 2014)? The answer here is yes (first degree murder). Under the legal doctrine of
transferred intent, Jack is still liable for the intentional crime he intended to commit against Bert,
although, Jack mistakenly committed a crime against Pratt.
The defenses to attempt are: factual impossibility and legal impossibility. Jack s attorney is
attempting to assert factual impossibility to have the charges of the attempted murder of Bert
dismissed due to an extraneous factor (gun malfunction), which is unethical. Factual impossibility
is when a person does everything in their power to complete the target crime, but fails

The Viability of Fission and Fusion for our Planet Essay
The Viability of Fission and Fusion
For our planet
As the global population increases exponentially, having passed six billion in 1999, the world
population is expected to be 8.9 billion by the year 2050. The worlds energy consumption will
increase by an estimated 54 percent by 2025. Energy demand in the industrialized world is
projected to grow 1.2 percent per year. Energy is a critical component of sustained economic
growth and improved standards of living. One of the major requirements for sustaining human
progress is an adequate source of energy. As the world s technological enhancements and standards
of living improve, so too does their appetite for electricity.
The largest sources of energy at the moment are the combustion of ... Show more content on

H.B. Fuller is Not Morally Responsible for the Addiction of Street Children to its Resistol Products
1.In your judgment, is H.B. Fuller morally responsible for the addiction of street children to its
Resistol products? In my opinion, H.B. Fuller is not morally responsible for the addiction of street
children to its Resistol products. A corporationis morally responsible only for those acts and their
foreseen injurious effects: (a) which the corporation knowingly and freely performed or brought
about and which it was morally wrong for the corporation to fail to perform or prevent and/or (b)
which the person knowingly and freely failed to perform or prevent and which it was morally

Do you agree or disagree with the statement that the social condition in Honduras and Guatemala
are responsible for misuse of H.B. Fuller s products and that neither the products nor the company
is to blame? The social condition is certainly a main cause; but it does not necessarily take all of
the causal blame. Not only does the social condition factor into the misuse of Fuller s products but
also does the economic factor relate to the issue. The economic condition is certainly not the sole
bearer of cause for the misuse of Fuller s products, either. There are certain players in this
unfortunate epidemic that have not been taken into account. These variables include the retailers,
middlemen, and corrupt distributors who most likely made a profit from selling the glue to the
children on the streets. In addition, there was management among the subsidiary companies who
helped produce this product that must have been aware of this pertinent issue. Who is to say that
management never tried to resolve anything, or even bring up the issue? They probably did, but
nothing drastic as cancellation of their product ever came of it. All in all, the social and economic
conditions in Guatemala and Honduras were the primary reasons why the children resorted to a
medium of venting, namely H.B. Fuller s product. Could the company and its products have
intervened to help the dilemma?

Interpreting The Theme Of Adversity In Breaking Bad
Breaking Bad follows Walter White, a chemistry teacher, who is diagnosed with cancer. Walter
needs to find a way to pay for his medical expenses while making sure that his family, Skylar
White (wife), Walter White Jr. (son), and the new member of the family, Holly White (baby
daughter), are taken care of financially. The dilemma occurs because as a chemistry teacher he is
not paid enough to cover his medical bill or his familys need, so he decides to team up with a
former student of his, Jesse Pinkman, to sell meth as a means of income. After the five seasons
that Breaking Bad aired, it became an instant classic with fans, this is because the viewers could
see themselves, at least partially, in one of the following three characters: Hank Schrader, Jesse
Pinkman, or Walter White. Breaking Bad portrays the paths that people in American culture choose
when faced with adversity, whether they stand and fight, are caught in the crossroads of good and
evil, or are totally corrupted.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hank represents the person in American society that sees everything in black and white, good or
evil, there is no gray area even in the face of adversity. This is most prevalently seen when he
finds out that Heisenberg is Walter, the last person he would expect. He decides that justice and
what is morally right ranks above how he feels. Hank Schrader is who most people strive to be,
but few actually are like him. He is the uncorrupted cop, because no matter how many heinous acts
he had to witness, the amount of moral conflicts he was hit with in both his personal and
professional life, he stood strong on the beliefs that good will someday

The absorption coefficient decides how far into a material, the light of a particular wavelength can
penetrate before it is absorbed.
The photons that have an energy above the band gap, depends on the wavelength and its absorption
coefficient is not constant. The likelihood of retaining a photon relies on upon the probability of
having a photon and an electron connect so as to move starting with one energy band then onto the
next. The absorption is relatively low for photons with energy very close to that of the band gap, as
only those electrons directly at the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because dn/dω and dε /dω have the same sign, the index of refraction decreases with
frequency in a spectral region of anomalous dispersion. Anomalous dispersion can be observed
experimentally if the substance is not too opaque at the resonance frequency. E.g. certain dyes have
absorption bands in the visible region of the spectrum and exhibit anomalous dispersion in the
region of these bands. Prisms doped with these dyes produce a spectrum that is reversed, i.e. the
longer wavelengths are refracted more than the shorter wavelengths. Aperture
A device that controls the amount of light admitted through an opening. In photography and digital
photography, aperture is the unit of measurement that defines the size of the opening in the lens
that can be adjusted to control the amount of light reaching the film or digital sensor. The size of
the aperture is measured in F stop. Aspherical
Aspherical lenses are lenses with complex curved surfaces, such as where the radius of curvature
changes according to distance from the optical axis. It offers excellent aberration correction
performance, which provides superior resolution, even with compact optics composed of a small
number of elements.

Diary Of Anne Frank Diary Analysis
The Diary of Anne Frank is story about a young teenage girl that was trying to hide from being
persecuted from the Nazis because of her religion. During that time, survival was the only thing
that was on her mind: How long she and her family were going to last. They hid behind a
bookcase that led to an attic. They stayed there for a while until they were found a couple years
later. They were taken back to a concentration camp. She died shortly after from a disease called
typhus. The only thing that remains is her diary that her father found to preserve her memory and
insight to be in the mindof a teenage girl during the war. The diary has many themes but the main
ones are stress, grief, and mental illness.
Stress was unavoidable during this time of her life. She was born in a wealthy family and
worrying about suitors for potential marriage material. She was worrying if she would be good
enough for them or if they ll be good enough for her father. She went from being young and care
free to being young and terrified. The day that they received the letter to work in the camps was
the day that her youth and innocence died. She didn t worry about her suitors as much after that
because at the end of the day, she could never trust them enough to tell them her secrets and
innermost thoughts. She had to confide in a diary that her father gave her to help cope with what
was happening around her. She hardly had any peace of mind knowing that they couldn t stay
hiding for long. She

An act is acted upon through lack of knowledge known as ignorance when the performer is unaware
of the consequences of the specific condition. Performing in the course of unawareness must be
separated from performing in ignorance. One may be performing ignorance through drunkenness or
moral depravity, which is an act of moral corruption that ends up being extremely worse. Voluntary
acts are acts that are the opposite of involuntary acts. A voluntary act involves choice that human
beings are only capable of. The choice that one makes is different from rage or desire. Such
actions, then, are mixed, but are more like voluntary actions; for they are worthy of choice at the
time when they are done, and the end of an action is relative to the occasion (Book III). True choice
requires rational consideration, an ability unique to human beings, which also means that the
human being choosing can verify that one action is preferable to another. An example of voluntary
action is the decision to play a sport for school or not. Playing a sport for school may take time out
of your studies, but at the same time, make you become better physically fit and an overall better
person by learning things about yourself and about life. That student has to make that decision if he

This summer, I have worked in a team of six to complete a code conversion that will prepare
Jackson to use updated web browsers that have higher security features than the one s currently
used. In our group, we have learned how to document use cases, provide diagrams that represent
what the user s see as the codeis executed, and how to implement jQuery for cross browser
compatibility. Over the course of the summer, I have noticed that each person in our group have
abilities that benefit the team as a whole. Tin, James, and Neel have strong coding backgrounds
and are more than willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who has questions about coding, and
they all do it with a positive attitude. Brandon and Melissa have a firm foundation in coding... Show

I have gained a lot experience with coding through a combination of the group code conversion
and online courses in JavaScript, HTML and CSS, and jQuery. The coding conversion has been
a rewarding project, because it has allowed me to see examples of how coding is used in the
work environment, which isn t always discussed in the classroom environment. Over the course
of my internship, I have also become more familiar with office procedures including:
communicating with others through Outlook, daily Huddle meetings, and the overall importance
of communication. Before this internship, email was just a way for me to get information from
professors and peers, but now it is a tool to organize and communicate with others quickly and
effectively. Huddle meetings were new to me, but I quickly understood the importance of
keeping others up to date on my current progress. The Huddle meetings became a way for
problems to be addressed quickly and it allowed for the group to come up with a unified solution
to problems. Of the lessons learned this summer, the most crucial is that communication is critical.
Without it, peers don t know where you are or where you are going. Communication allows for
others to know if there are problems present and it gives them a way to provide

Essay about Handmaids Tale vs Persepolis
David Miller
Oppression on Women in Margaret Atwood s The Handmaid s Tale and Marjane Satrapi s Persepolis
Marjane Satrapi, in Persepolis writes about a memoir of a little girl growing in Iran. She refers to a
secular pre revolutionary time through contrast, the oppressive characteristics of the fundamentalist
government upon women in specifics. In comparison, her work is very similar to Margaret Atwood
s, A Handmaid s Tale, in which the central character, Offred, reflects upon her former life s
freedom, cherishing her former name and in doing so, emphasizes the isolated and enslaved live

masking their individuality, which was highly discouraged. This actually stripped the girls of

women s life in Persepolis was enormous. She always wondered as to why did the women have
to wear it? and the reasoning the fundamentalist gave was so to protect women from all the

this backward thought process and the rules of the Islamic religion, women were forced to wear

Although the main characters from both the books live under restrictions especially in their
ways of dressing, both highly dislike what they are suppose to be wearing. The narrator in
Handmaid s Tale describes the out fit she is condemned to: The skirt is ankle length, full,
gathered to a flat yoke that extends over the breasts, the sleeves are full. The white wings too are

alike. The narrator rejects her clothes, even though

The Principles of Marketing
Principles of Marketing: Marketing basically involves a series of processes that focus on
determining customers wants and then providing the necessary product to them. This process can
also be regarded as the procedure of developing and implementing initiatives that are geared toward
identifying, expecting, and satisfying the wants and demands of customers in a way that also
generates profits. Marketingnot only contains several important principles but it also consists of
four major elements that are commonly known as the 4P s. The four main elements of marketing
that are also known as the marketing mix are product, pricing, promotion, and place. Through the
marketing process, the major goal of all marketers is to establish more value for customers. In order
to create such value to customers, there is need for managers to understand the marketing principles
that are crucial for effective marketing strategies and practices.
Creation of Customer Value: The leading and best marketers across the globe have a major thing in
common i.e. they have focused on the customer as the heart of their marketing strategies and
practices. The modern marketing process basically revolves around the development of customer
value and profitable relationships with customers. This process begins with the identification and
understanding of the needs and wants of customers, detecting the organization s most suitable target

Looking Up At The Grey Sky
Looking up at the grey night sky, John Jhonerston grimly pondered about existence as he
shuffled down barren boulevard. With the acknowledgement of being constantly monitored by
the secret police, John awkwardly put one foot in front the other; the small trip to the grocery
store starting to feel like eternity. Ever since the new totalitarian government had been
established after the civil war, ever since the loss of John s family, life has been a living hell. A
pointless, monotonous, depressing, existence. A pain that John has had to endure for countless
years. Its was late night, and very few people were outside. The street was quiet and peaceful. It

Humanity just barely survived without natural light by growing plants in indoor farms with
artificial light. Snow was falling again, and John had to get to the grocery store quickly. Trying

body in hopes that nothing but garments are burned. John finally arrived at the grocery store
after a couple of minutes of enduring the strong wind and acidic snow. After stepping in, he
smelled of burnt leather and wool. John proceeded to check himself in a two way mirror usually
used for shake downs and inspections, and he noticed that the outer layer of the back of his
leather trench jacket was discolored from the acidic snow. He immediately saw some more
snowflakes resting on his shoulders, slowly eating away at the leather; John wiped the snow off
and consequently received slight burns to his hand. After enduring a stinging pain, John finally
started shopping. The immense array of cameras is quite frightening to see at first. It took John
some time getting used to it. Feeling like someone in a government room was staring icy daggers

Oedipus The King Vs Medea
Now as we keep our watch and wait the final day, count no man happy till he dies, free of pain at

Sophocles, a play that tells the story of the new reigning king of Thebes. Through fate, Oedipus
met his end by blinding himself all due to the fact that he would not let go of the past. This
quote also applies to Medea by Euripides, a play about a woman named Medea, who is driven to

a personal connection with that of his community. He is fighting so hard to remove the plague
that is stricken over his city of Thebes. This specifically tells us about what type of character
Oedipus is as a person and not only that but we see him portrayed as a victim of fate throughout
the entire play. Main reason for that is because he was bound by the ankles as a child. Some
examples that support Oedipus kind moral are as follows, But we do rate you first of men, both
in the common crises of our lives and face to face encounters with the gods...We taught you
nothing, no skill, no extra knowledge, still you triumphed... and Speak out, speak to us all. I
grieve for these, my people, far more than I fear for my own life (Sophocles 94 96). These quotes
show how respected Oedipus is within his community and that he can relate to them on a personal
and spiritual level and not just governmental. Truly fate is what caused Oedipus to fall greatly but
it does not lesson his character at all because he accepts punishment by blinding

The Cultural Aspects Of The Service A Muralist
What is the purpose of art? There is art for art s sake, there is the percent for art ordinance, and
there is art with the intention of popularity or even to push societal norms. The list can go on and
on, but one of the most respectable purposes is the intention of giving the under privileged a voice
of their own in an environment of oppression. Public muralists single handedly achieve that goal.
The service a muralist gives is not only added aesthetic value to a neighborhood with his or her art
piece, but also giving the community a voice of representation. Muralsproject the issues of a
community, both past and present. Foremost, the muralists use their open canvas as an opportunity
to resurface deep rooted cultural aspects and matters of the surrounding neighborhood. The
expanse and twenty four hour availability of such an art pieces allows the citizens of a town to
view and face the realities being represented. An example of this would be John Weber s Unidos
Para Triunfar/Together We Overcome. This specific mural
brings to light Puerto Rican heroes, unity
among the neighboring youth against the drug and gang problems, and problems such as housing,
welfare, or religious and cultural heritage. Unidos Para Triunfar expresses the community s rich
culturewith the Puerto Rican heroes and brings to light the ongoing conflict of drug abuse and
gang violence in the area. In the recent years of the mural being painted, there was a shooting

Ethical Complications of Genetic Engineering and Eugenics...
Genetic engineering is currently the fastest growing and perhaps most controversial field of
science. Genetic engineering is decoding and manipulating DNA to use for scientific and medical
purposes. The discovery that human cells can be grown in a petri dish has opened up breathtaking
possibilities for curing disease and a morass of ethical complications (Allen 9).
Genetic engineering has already started to be most helpful in the field of medicine. The map of the
human genome offers many cures and potentially successful medical procedures. By creating
artificial chromosomes, scientists may be able to replace diseased inherited traits with functional
ones. Determining the genetic make up of viruses such as the HIV virus that ... Show more content

Charles Darwin published The Origin of Species in 1859. In this book, he explained his theory of
natural selection which is that members of species with the most desired ( best fit ) traits will
survive and reproduce. Eugenicists took Darwin s ideas of natural selection and applied them to
society and the human race. Some American and German scientists agreed the human race could be
cleansed by means of artificial selection and sterilization (Proctor 10 15).
In Germany, eugenics became focused on racial hygiene and was transformed into genocide. In
the beginning, Nazis targeted people with handicaps or mental illnesses, those who they felt had
real, medical justifications to be killed. In Grafeneck, Germany in 1940 approximately 10,000
mentally handicapped people or people with mental diseases were killed with toxic gas in the
course of the Nazi euthanasia program (Wunder 1). After this they moved on to other groups that
they believed tainted their Aryan race. The Nazis fabricated scientific reasons for killing gypsies,
Jews, blacks, and Jehovah s witnesses along with the handicapped, saying that their brains were
smaller and that they were inferior.

There were 26 police reports filed involving the deceased, Ethan Cook and his younger brother, all
while in the sole physical custody of their father Kenneth Alan Cook. The police reports include
marijuana use and dealing, vandalism, stealing, etc.
Two of the reports, however, stand out.
January 30, 2010 LB Police officers responded to a family disturbance call at Mr. Cook s
residence. Upon entering the residence, I saw the father, Kenneth C., pinning his son, Ethan Cook,
a 13 year old male, face down on the living room couch. Kenneth was behind Ethan Cook. and he
had Ethan Cook s arms pinned behind his back.
On this occasion, the officer never questioned Ethan Cook independently to determine if the case
involved abuse on the part of Kenneth Cook. Instead he interviewed and accepted Mr. Cook s
version of an argument gone out of control.
On July 2, 2011 Ethan Cook. had just returned home from Yellowstone Ranch for Boys Girls (a

Comedy In The Play A Midsummer Night s Dream
They Way Insults Promote Comedy In a quote by Madeline Kahn she says, Comedy is created
when someone is trying very earnestly to do what he feels is the right thing to do at that moment.
She is saying that comedy is usually created almost by accident. We try to do the right thing, but it
does not always work out in the way we expect it to and the outcome is what makes the situation
funny. In the play A Midsummer s Night Dream there are many elements of comedy that
Shakespeare uses to communicate what he is trying to present within the play. These elements
include mistaken identities, turning things upside down, wit and wordplay, multiple intertwining
plots, the element of marriage, insults and burns, suspension of natural laws, language,... Show

People find it funny because he insulted her and she did not even get upset. She loves him so
much that she does not even care when he insults her, she believes him to be joking and takes it
as sarcasm. Helena wants to be with Demetrius desperately and he does not want anything to do
with her. These lines would be the equivalent of an individual saying you are ugly to another
individual and have them reply with you are not and will never be ugly. It is funny and slightly
ironic because they are just stating the opposite of one another. Shakespeare added this to show
how much Helena was smitten over Demetrius and how much he absolutely loathed her. No
matter what he says to her she still loves and cares for him while he just wants her to go away
and because of that it gives the perfect opportunity for Demetrius to keep insulting her because no
matter what he says to her she takes it in stride. Which allows Shakespeare to have Demetrius
keep insulting Helena. These insults keep people laughing and entertained throughout the play.
Shakespeare uses insult comedy to show a character s true colors and personality. Most of the
insults that are said are directed at Hermia. They are mostly directed at her because at the time
they were said by Demetrius and Lysander who were both a under a love potion that made them
believe that they loved Helena. It is easy to see how truly

and also that the praise of the men over whom I am now speaking might be confirmed by
definite proofs. His meaning was to comment on the war and how he was trying to say his men
fought a long and tough battle. Percale then quoted, You must yourselves realize the power of
Athens, and feed your eyes upon her from day to day, till the love of her fills your hearts; and
then when all her greatness shall break upon you, you must reflect that it was by courage, sense
of duty, and a keen feeling of honor in action that men were enabled to win all this, and that no
personal failure in an enterprise could make them consent to deprive their country of their
bravery except as a sacrifice of the most serious contribution they could offer. Pericles was
commanding his military men for doing their job duties and to get their family wives, children,

trait of being anxious. Central Idea: This trait is a big part of me and has both bad and good
aspects. Introduction: Throughout my entire life, I have been a very anxious person. As a child
my mother liked to take us to new places, and unlike most children who would have been
overwhelmed with joy to go to chuck e cheese s, I was overwhelmed with panic. The morning
we left I had gotten incredibly nauseous before even going out the door, I had no fever, no
runny nose, or any other symptoms of sickness so we went on our way. After the turnoff to
Johnson city I became unfamiliar with my surroundings. My heart began to race, my stomach
started doing backflips, and I began to sweat profusely. Five minutes later I threw up with no
warning in the back of my mother s van. We pulled over and she began asking me EMILY
WHAT S WRONG WITH YOU and I told her I didn t know. I didn t know why I was so nervous
to go to this place that seemed so fun with pizza and games, maybe it was the giant rat mascot? I
was unsure of the cause of my feelings, but I was very sure that I just wanted to go home. To this
day I still get scared of going new places, but I ve managed to learn how to cope with it a little
better, however being anxious still affects me today and has shaped my life immensely. Preview

Freedom, like everything else, is relative. p. 267 My Reaction: I completely agree with this

freedom? For Offred, her old life became the definition of freedom, but prior to the Gileadean
regime, it was something else. Maybe freedom could be defined as the life in our dreams, but as
you get closer to achieving that dream, a new dream comes into play. The relativity associated

Based on theoretical yield calculations, the yield for Benzil at the end of the reaction should be
2.368 grams. However, 2.328 grams of crude Benzil were obtained, producing a percent yield of
98.31% (see Table 2). Once the crude Benzil was purified, 0.966 grams of purified Benzil
remained. Thus, the percent yield for purified Benzil was 40.79% (see Table 3). The loss of
yield could be due to the washing of the crystals using water before recrystallization. The melting

melting point for Benzil is between 94 95 бµ’C (Pavia et al, 2013; Chemicalland21). Given that the

relatively pure. However, since the experimental melting point range has a wider window and

Jeremiah And St. Bakhta Research Paper
Jeremiah and St. Bakhita
Jeremiah was a prophet alive during 600 BC and he lived in the southern Kingdom of Judah.
People in Judah were not sharing with the poor, or following God s laws, and they also did not
care about peace. Jeremiah told them to treat everyone equally and to stop worshipping idols.
They refused to follow what Jeremiah was telling them and they beat him, then sent him to jail.
But Jeremiah kept telling them about God and how they had to repent. He told them that if they
did not do what God asked them to do then God would re form them like somebody would re form
clay if they were not happy with it.
St. Josephine Bakhita was a prophet born in 1869 in Olgassa, Sudan. She lived a normal life until
she was kidnapped by slave traders and was sold as a slave in 1877. Her owners would beat her and
they left her with 114 scars. Then, her one owner in took her to Italy where she was left with the
Canossian Sisters. There she learned about God and desired to meet him. So, once she was set
fee in 1890 she became a Christian. She spent most of her life doing service for a place called
Shio and was always happy, kind, and gentle. She is similar to Jeremiah because they both were
beat but always kept learning and preaching about God. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Persuasive Essay On How To Make Makeup
With a million different shades, a bountiful of techniques, and the hidden technicalities, makeup
will always be a struggle. The face serves as a canvas, and like all kinds of artwork, it has its own
share of mistakes that you cannot help but make. Makeup is not expected to be perfect on the first
try, so it is okay. Below you will read some of the most commonly made makeup mistakes and
mishaps.
Before putting anything on your face, you have to make sure your face is as clean as it can be. Even
in this process people make a number of mistakes.
You may have all the products you need, moisturizer, cream, face masks, and so on, but if you
leave out the right way to cleaning your face then you might neglect the use of these products in the
first place.
Dr. Nicholas Perricone, MD, emphasizes that it is a common point of confusion. He speaks on how
it should be correctly done and what people are unconsciously doing wrong.
Whether you are in your teens, 20s or have mature skin, the basics are the same: To avoid irritation,
stay away from scrubbing grains, abrasive pads/washcloths, alcohol based toners and astringents.
These can disturb the normal skin pH and produce inflammation and dryness that will age and
damage the skin.
It is also not a good thing to wash your face with hot water because the temperature will cause
your face to get rid of its needed natural oils that will keep the skin from being parched. It is much
better to go for either cold water or something lukewarm.
Emily Orofino also lists on PopSugar.com makeup mistakes that she has noticed over time. The first
to take attention to are the brushes you need for makeup in the first place.
No matter what the situation, it is important to keep your makeup brushes clean. When your
makeup brushes are not cleaned regularly, you are at a risk of breaking out or messing up your
future looks. Everyone has to go through this, even professionals.
Another one that is commonly observed is the foundation application process. Of course, it is
important to know what shade is the best for us. The problem lies on where we test the shade.
Orofino sheds some light on a common mistake that is testing the shade on the back of our hand.
When testing the shade on the

Illegal Immigration Reform in America Essay examples
One of the most controversial topics today in politics is what to do about illegal immigration in the
United States. Should we consider all of the illegal immigrants felons? Should we give them full
citizenship rights? These are all important questions related to illegal immigration. In 1986, the
Immigration Reform and Control Act made it illegal for employers to knowingly hire
undocumented workers and imposed fines of up to $11,000 for each violation. Recently, the United
States House of Representatives passed a bill, entitled H.R. 4437 (The Border Protection,

Those that have been here less than two years will be the only people that will have to leave the
country. I do believe that illegal immigrants do contribute to the economy in some ways, like
doing many of the jobs that most citizens will not do. My opponents would counter by saying
that Immigrants helped build this country and that immigrants come to America for a better life
and end up investing their money here, buying houses, and opening businesses that help the
economy. When addressing the fact that there are roughly 12 million illegal immigrants here
and this Act could quite possibly make them all felons, many wonder where we are going to put
all of these felons. Our prisons are already overpopulated and adding millions more is completely
out of the question. Also, many people opposing this Act believe that if we got rid of all of the
illegal immigrants that our society would quickly fall into an economic depression. They believe
that they are such a vital part of our economy that we could not afford to deport them. I agree that
our country cannot afford to consider all 12 million of the immigrants here illegally felons. One of
the many reasons why we have so many illegal immigrants in the country is partly due to the fact
that the number of immigration investigators in the U.S. fell from 240 in 1999 to just 65 in 2004,
according to the Government Accountability Office.

Changing Consumer Habits Of Wal Mart
Changing Consumer Habits Consumer spending habits have altered radically since the 1990s
when Wal Mart first saw huge growth in its sales and market share. In the 1990s, the use of
online shopping was still in its infancy and mobile shopping was not prevalent until the late
1990s and early 2000s (Merchant, 2011). Online retail shopping has become increasingly
common among consumers, and among online retail shoppers, increasing numbers of
consumers are using mobile devices (Siwicki, 2014). In the 2013 holiday season, mobile
shopping using a smartphone or tablet accounted for about 20 percent of e commerce sales
(Egol Hodson, 2013). In comparison, in July of 2014, 56 percent of online retail shopping
occurred through the use of a smartphone or tablet (Siwicki, 2014). While Wal Mart offers
walmart.com, this platform has not kept pace with the demand for it, and Wal Mart has not taken
full advantage of the chance to create applications for mobile devices to allow and encourage
consumer spending. Changes That Need to Be Made at Wal Mart Dr. John Kotter suggests an
eight step process for creating change in an organization. The first step entails establishing a sense
of urgency, because before members of an organization will be motivated to adopt the changes, they
must first understand the need for the change in a way that emphasizes the urgency to take action
to address the problem. The second step is to form a powerful coalition, which means getting key

concern.
Developmental Stage
According to Erikson s stages of development, AO could be categorized into two different stages.
The first stage is identity vs. role confusion, this is where an adolescent is trying to find out who
they are and what their place is in life. If their search turns out to be challenging, it could lead to
a crisis where a person almost has to step backwards, revaluate to be able to move forward again.
AO positively identified with this stage because she is enrolled in college and working hard to be
successful in her classes as a future nurse. AO did not show any signs of current role confusion.
There is no evidence of tattoos or piercings, delinquent behavior or apparent changes in her mental
health status that lead one to believe that a crisis is present (Edelman, Kudzma Mandle, 2014, p.
522).
The second stage is intimacy versus isolation, this is where a young adult would begin to form
relationships with people on a more intimate level.

Trifles By Susan Glaspell Critical Analysis Essay
Constantly being torn down and belittled over the course of a lifetime can put a toll on anyone s
sense of purpose and health, so it makes sense that in the 1916 play Trifles by Susan Glaspell
someone finally snaps. In the play, Minnie Wright is accused of killing her husband John Wright in
his sleep. The mystery, however, does not surround Minnie s innocence, but rather her motivation
in killing her husband. Ironically, the mystery is solved, not by those who purposefully came to the
house to investigate, by the women who came as friends of the accused. By the finale of the play,
the men in the party have still failed to find any useful evidence and are actively being worked
against, as the women are hiding a crucial bit of evidence. But... Show more content on

Wright was worried about her fruit, the sheriff immediately jumps to insulting her instead of
looking at the emotional implications that are tied to Mrs. Wright caring more about her fruit
then her dead husband. He, like the rest of the men, looks over all of the hard work women do
around the farm and in the community, ignorant to the fact that his words are impart why Mrs.
Hale and Mrs. Peters hiding the most damning piece of evidence in the case. After discovering
Mrs. Wright s dead bird and surmising that Mr. Wright must have strangled it, Mrs. Peters says,
My, it s a good thing the men couldn t hear us. Wouldn t they just laugh! Getting all stirred up over
a little thing like a dead canary. As if that could have anything to do with with wouldn t they laugh!
(949). Sheriff Peters s harsh and dismissive attitude has made him impossible to trust. If you cannot
trust someone whose main job description is to serve and protect you, then who can you trust?
Given that this play is in part a murder mystery, the facts of the murder should be told through an
unbiased perspective so the audience can deduce the suspect at the same time as the characters.
However, in the case of Trifles, the circumstances of the case are presented from the point of view
of a man, Lewis Hale, who was a friend and neighbor of the victim. Throughout his description of
the events that play out when he discovered the body, Hale makes a few references to the greater
emotional strain

A Report On Animal Testing
Summary The case revolves around a company named Surplus Styles that manufactures hair care
products. Over the past years, the company has been focusing on providing low cost products and
that was its competitive advantage against its competitors. They choose their suppliers, who
provided the contents for their bottles. This was their main competitive bidding method. Since
Surplus Styles was focusing on providing low cost products, they did not focus on quality of the
products. As a result they were not meeting the new market demands that were trending towards
products with high quality. Now, the company is facing some issues regarding the quality of their
products due to the rising concerns of animal rights with products going through animal testing,
the company needs to start producing products that are of a high quality and not violate any of
the animal rights regulations. Since the current suppliers were providing the product on the basis
of lower prices, they may not be to supply quality product. Thus, Derick needs to figure out a way
to get the good quality product and that too very soon in order to remain in the business. (Sanders,
2011) Question 1 Identifying the steps to solving this problem Derick Frizzle the Director of
Sourcing at Surplus Styles is faced with a challenge: his company has decided to restructure their
strategic objective to align with the current market forecast (Sanders, 2011). The main focus of the

Synthesis of Literature The current literature regarding our PICO question and relevant search

healthcare system and affected population. Evidence based guidelines, studies concerning the
best steps to confirm a COPD diagnosis, spirometry discrepancies in primary care, and the
effects of less than ideal COPD care for the patient as well as the healthcare system were covered
in the literature matrix table. The following synthesis offers discussion for the main concepts
covered by the literature, as well as pointing out where evidence gaps exist. Background COPD is

This model promotes a system driven by the patient s needs, and a system where the nurse can
make contributions that add to the delivery of care. Developed throughout the 1990 s, this
middle range theory was initially created with critical care nursing in mind. The AACN desired
to identify concepts of certified specialty nursing practice. (Peterson Bredow, 294). However, as
will be discussed further, this model is actually applicable to chronic health care diagnosis and
management as well, which is why it was selected for this DNP project. The AACN Synergy
Model is centered around five primary assumptions that regard healthcare providers, patients and
families: 1.Patients are social, psychological, and biological entities; the patient s body, mind, and
spirit must be considered for their particular developmental stage. 2.The nurse patient relationship
is created in part by the patient, family, and community. 3.All characteristics of the patients are
contributory to one another and should not be isolated. 4.The nurse has interrelated dimensions
that form their overall profile. 5.The primary goal of nursing is to restore the patient to a level of
wellness that the patient desires. Death is acceptable, as long as the agreed upon goal is to move a
patient towards a peaceful death (AACN,

Song Analysis Of Hotel California
Everyone makes mistakes at some point in their lives. As an adolescent many are told to learn
from you mistakes, but an abundant amount of adults do not tend to live by that. Many times,
people are blinded by wealth, reputation, and success. Rather than making the right decisions, they
disregard their previous choices of action instead of learning from them. Hotel California s
message is trying to revert its listeners back to their childhood ways. The iconic track hit the music
industry with its soulful lyrics and its innovative sound in 1976. The album as well as the song is
titled Hotel California . In Hotel California, The Eagles relay to the listener that if one takes the
risk, they must suffer the consequences by using metaphor, assonance, and imagery.
The Eagles use rhythmic patterns in their lyrics that further portrays the main characters feelings
before and after he has to compensate. When The Eagles sing, She got the mercedes bends/She got
a lot of pretty, pretty, boys that she calls friends, this connects the two sentences to help the listener
further understand how the main character noticed the odd quirks about the situations and actions of
his peers (line 30).The use of assonance provides a more indepth outlook about the leading woman
in the song. Her situation was strange in the sense that her surroundings were very unlikely to
achieve. She seems to be substantially wealthy considering she is stranded in the middle of the
desert without occupation.

Symbolism In A Clean Well-Lighted Place

A Clean, Well Lighted Place The short story A Clean, Well Lighted Place by Ernest Hemingway
is about an old man who is sitting alone at night in a cafГ©. He is deaf and there are two waiters
who are watching him carefully because if he gets too drunk they know he will not pay. While
the old man is having his drink the whole story mainly revolves around the conversation of the
older waiter with the younger waiter. None of the characters are referred by their names they are
known as The Old Man, The Older Waiter, and The Younger Waiter to the readers. The author
conveys the idea of light and darkness symbolized in the characters and the cafГ©.

The cafГ© is seen as a place where people with despair and problem can go to and forget about it.
It represents the opposite of nothingness it s clean and good lighted whereas nothingness is
confusing and dark. When the older waiter describes the nothingness that he is getting into, he
says, It was only that and light was all it needed and a certain cleanness and order (383). The
author doesn t really explain what he means by it but we can assume it is referring to life
meaning that life and man are nothing but light, cleanness and order can be counted as
something. If the cafГ© is clean and well lighted hence in the title, despair can be kept away.
Another point the older waiter makes about the cafГ© why it needs these specific elements is
because he needs the cafГ© to be clean and pleasant. You do not want music. Certainly you do
not want music. (382) The most important thing he needed was light in the cafГ©. Light is
very important in the cafГ© because light removes the darkness. It is like when people are scared
of darkness and all they are looking for is light. When the older waiter has locked up and was
walking off he describes the awful nothingness of life nada y pues nada y nada y pues nada

Caroline Pignat Quote
I wish you and your family is having a wonderful spring break. I realize this break will be very
useful for you since you ve been sick for quite a while. I have a book you might want to check
out and read if you haven t done so already. The book is titled Shooter, written by Caroline
Pignat, which is a mystery novel. My reading goal this term is to bypass Sci fi books, which I
typically love to read, and try something new. I explained, to Ms. Verma, the types of books I like
prefer to read and my reading goal this term and asked if she has any recommendations. She
introduced me to the Reading Riot which has the crowd pleasing books and all Richmond school
libraries have several copies of these titles. She recommended this bookand said this is fast paced,
which made me want to read it because the books I ve read in the past took a while to introduce the

Each of these 5 perspectives are effectively told in first person, through cell phone texts, journals,

Izzy blurts. I am SO outta here. She moves towards the door, but Nerd Girl jumps up and blocks
her. (27). Most chapters end with amazing cliffhangers that make the reader come back for more.
She looks up from her phone, her face white. Her voice a whisper, she says, ...it s not a drill.
(27). The sentences the author wrote were fairly easy to understand as were the characters. There
are also a few parts that are somewhat poetic. This is real life. Not everything has a story. Alice
smiles. But every person does. (85). The author incorporated several references that high school
students have, most likely, read or watched in their life. I read Hamlet in Dunne s class. (86). She

The Life Of Faye G. Abdellah
In life one has to take risks in order to bring forth a vision to life. Through risk taking, Faye G.
Abdellah achieved her inner most dreams which was furthering the science of nursing research.
Faye was a pioneer nursing researcher that helped transform nursing theory, nursing care and
nursing education. In 1960, she was influenced by the desire to promote patient centered
comprehensive nursing care. Abdellah described nursing as a service to individuals, to families
and therefore to the society. She was a rebel from the start in her efforts to promote nursing.
Through time, she learned to disguise her rebellious leadership methods under the title politically
correct. Even when faced with setbacks Faye continued to persevere and thrive for change (Houser
Player, 2004).
Furthermore, a team leader is someone who inspires, mentors, guides, thrives for change and sets
an example. Throughout Faye s life she demonstrated strong team leadership styles such as her
remarkable courage and determination for pursuing her vision. The courageous risks she took in
her leadership roles were all in an effort to bring about change in nursing and improve patient care
throughout the world. For example, during a visit to the San Diego long term care facility Faye
noticed statutory violations and other evidence of substandard care. During her opening of the
conference of the American Health Care Association, she announced to them that the lack of patient
care was unacceptable in the homes

If a person doesn t want to use more money and resources House B is a perfectly good option.
My family has lived in both Houses A and B, and each time 3 children and two parents were
living there. It is possible to live in a smaller home no matter what size of family you have or
special circumstances you have. A lot of people think that eating more vegetables and fruits is
more expensive than eating processed foods. This can often be true, but I set out to change my
eating habits and still stick to my budget. As a college student staying on a budget is key, and I
allot myself 25 dollars a week for my food. I wanted to eat less processed foods, so I set out to see
if I could get the same amount of food for 25 dollars, but this time more... Show more content on

This can be seen in examples of tiny home owners. Andrea Tremols spends only five to ten
dollars every month on her electric bill. This is a huge difference comparing both House A and
House B. Imagine living in Tremols house and only paying 5 dollars a month compared to $50
$150 every month. She pays only about 10 percent of what House A and House B pays. Tremols
saves a lot of money and resources(Cook 2016). House A is a little over double in size and it
shows in both the gas and electric bill. The electric bill for House A is often more than twice the
cost for House B. Although that has a lot to do with the number of people living in a home,
things like lighting for a large home can increase electricity costs. Gas is used in each case to
heat the houses. Heating and cooling a larger house is bound to cost more and that was seen
with the two different house evaluated. House B stayed fairly consistent maintaining a cost
somewhere in the 40 dollar range. House A on the other hand averaged around 60 dollars per
month. That is an average of a 20 dollar difference between the cost for House A and the cost for
House B. It is clear that a smaller home can greatly decrease your expenditures on electricity and
gas, but that is not the only decreasing amount seen with smaller homes. When individuals use less
electricity and gas there is less need to create these resources. This can benefit the Earth greatly.
For example, electricity is often created from burning some sort of

The ultimate goal of ethical theory is to achieve human dignity, peace, happiness, and well being.
But these goals are somewhat vague and can be interpreted differently in different situations under
certain circumstances. So to make the things less complex, we try to define a sphere of freedom in
which people can act and make decisions freely without interference from others. So natural rights
defines ethical theory as a set of actions that respects fundamental rights of others, including the
rights to life, liberty, and property. Natural rights can be categorized in two different

How Does Assimilation Affects Individual Identity
How many technological devices do you use daily? In this day and age, the list would probably
include smart phones, laptop computers, tablets, or more, but do you know where these devices
were made? Even if your device was assembled locally, there is a good chance that the parts
inside come from a collaboration of companies working together from all over the globe that are
part of the global supply chain. For the last few decades, more and more companies rely on
outsourcing, to produce their products and to provide services. Which in effect has globalized our
world, and depends on countries being able to collaborate and work together to provide the
products and services demanded by the customers at the end of the supply chain. As an... Show

Although this global supply chain and the flattening of the world is raising the standards of living
of the people in developing nations, one must contemplate what is also being stripped away from
these people in return for the increase in wealth. While assimilating to the customs and values of
the western world might seem necessary for these countries to be able to work together and
communicate, this assimilation affects individual identity as well as national identity. The
assimilation required by global supply chains strips countries, such as India, of their cultural
heritage and requires workers to Westernize and cover their true identities in order to work in the
jobs that will raise their standard of living. Therefore, despite the positive economic effects that
assimilation has on developing countries, the negative effects on culture and individuals the
stripping away of identity and self are points often overlooked and are damaging to the countries
and individuals that are stuck in limbo in between identities. When assimilation plays in
conjunction with The Dell Theory, it becomes a positive arrangement because countries involved
with the global supply chain are more hesitant to go to war with each other. The countries in the
supply chain are obligated to come to mutual understandings, in which they cooperate with each
other, regardless of their differences; otherwise, they risk losing their position in the supply chain.

  • 2. Attempted Murder and Criminal Acts In this essay, I will describe the elements of a criminal act, address the law of factual impossibility, the law of legal impossibility, and distinguish whether the alleged crime in the scenario is a complete but imperfect attempt or an incomplete attempt. I will address the ethical or moralistic concerns associated with allowing a criminal defendant to avoid criminal responsibility by successfully asserting a legal defense such as impossibility. The court was clearly wrong to dismiss the charge against Jack of attempted murderof Bert. A crime consists of an actus reus and a mens rea, in order to obtain a conviction of a criminal charge there must be a concurrence between the actus reus and mens rea. The elements of a criminal act ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Transferred intent is when an individual has the intent to cause harm to one person but injures another one instead (Lippman, 2012). In order to meet the requirements of transferred intent, two questions must be asked and both questions must have a yes to apply transferred intent. The first question: If contact had been made with the intended object (Bert), would there have been a crime (National Paralegal College, 2014)? The answer is yes, there is a crime against pointing and firing a gun at a human being and first degree murder. The second question: If the object with which contact was made (Pratt) had been the intended target, would there have been a crime (National Paralegal College, 2014)? The answer here is yes (first degree murder). Under the legal doctrine of transferred intent, Jack is still liable for the intentional crime he intended to commit against Bert, although, Jack mistakenly committed a crime against Pratt. The defenses to attempt are: factual impossibility and legal impossibility. Jack s attorney is attempting to assert factual impossibility to have the charges of the attempted murder of Bert dismissed due to an extraneous factor (gun malfunction), which is unethical. Factual impossibility is when a person does everything in their power to complete the target crime, but fails ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Viability of Fission and Fusion for our Planet Essay The Viability of Fission and Fusion For our planet As the global population increases exponentially, having passed six billion in 1999, the world population is expected to be 8.9 billion by the year 2050. The worlds energy consumption will increase by an estimated 54 percent by 2025. Energy demand in the industrialized world is projected to grow 1.2 percent per year. Energy is a critical component of sustained economic growth and improved standards of living. One of the major requirements for sustaining human progress is an adequate source of energy. Fuller morally responsible for the addiction of street children to its Resistol products? In my opinion, H.B. Fuller is not morally responsible for the addiction of street children to its Resistol products. A corporationis morally responsible only for those acts and their foreseen injurious effects: (a) which the corporation knowingly and freely performed or brought about and which it was morally wrong for the corporation to fail to perform or prevent and/or (b) which the person knowingly and freely failed to perform or prevent and which it was morally wrong for the corporation to fail to perform or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Do you agree or disagree with the statement that the social condition in Honduras and Guatemala are responsible for misuse of H.B. Fuller s products and that neither the products nor the company is to blame? The social condition is certainly a main cause; but it does not necessarily take all of the causal blame. Not only does the social condition factor into the misuse of Fuller s products but also does the economic factor relate to the issue. The economic condition is certainly not the sole bearer of cause for the misuse of Fuller s products, either. There are certain players in this unfortunate epidemic that have not been taken into account. These variables include the retailers, middlemen, and corrupt distributors who most likely made a profit from selling the glue to the children on the streets. In addition, there was management among the subsidiary companies who helped produce this product that must have been aware of this pertinent issue. Who is to say that management never tried to resolve anything, or even bring up the issue? They probably did, but nothing drastic as cancellation of their product ever came of it. All in all, the social and economic conditions in Guatemala and Honduras were the primary reasons why the children resorted to a medium of venting, namely H.B. Fuller s product. Could the company and its products have intervened to help the dilemma? ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Interpreting The Theme Of Adversity In Breaking Bad Breaking Bad follows Walter White, a chemistry teacher, who is diagnosed with cancer. Walter needs to find a way to pay for his medical expenses while making sure that his family, Skylar White (wife), Walter White Jr. (son), and the new member of the family, Holly White (baby daughter), are taken care of financially. The dilemma occurs because as a chemistry teacher he is not paid enough to cover his medical bill or his familys need, so he decides to team up with a former student of his, Jesse Pinkman, to sell meth as a means of income. After the five seasons that Breaking Bad aired, it became an instant classic with fans, this is because the viewers could see themselves, at least partially, in one of the following three characters: Hank Schrader, Jesse Pinkman, or Walter White. Breaking Bad portrays the paths that people in American culture choose when faced with adversity, whether they stand and fight, are caught in the crossroads of good and evil, or are totally corrupted.... This is most prevalently seen when he finds out that Heisenberg is Walter, the last person he would expect. He decides that justice and what is morally right ranks above how he feels. Hank Schrader is who most people strive to be, but few actually are like him. He is the uncorrupted cop, because no matter how many heinous acts he had to witness, the amount of moral conflicts he was hit with in both his personal and professional life, he stood strong on the beliefs that good will someday ... Principles Of Photonics And Optical Engineering University of Texas at Arlington EE5380: Principles of Photonics Optical Engineering EXTRA CREDIT Supriya Kavilkar 100 109 5019 15 August 2015 Absorption coefficient The absorption coefficient decides how far into a material, the light of a particular wavelength can penetrate before it is absorbed. The photons that have an energy above the band gap, depends on the wavelength and its absorption coefficient is not constant. The likelihood of retaining a photon relies on upon the probability of having a photon and an electron connect so as to move starting with one energy band then onto the next. Because dn/dП‰ and dОµ /dП‰ have the same sign, the index of refraction decreases with frequency in a spectral region of anomalous dispersion. Anomalous dispersion can be observed experimentally if the substance is not too opaque at the resonance frequency. E.g. certain dyes have absorption bands in the visible region of the spectrum and exhibit anomalous dispersion in the region of these bands. Prisms doped with these dyes produce a spectrum that is reversed, i.e. the longer wavelengths are refracted more than the shorter wavelengths. In photography and digital photography, aperture is the unit of measurement that defines the size of the opening in the lens that can be adjusted to control the amount of light reaching the film or digital sensor. During that time, survival was the only thing that was on her mind: How long she and her family were going to last. They hid behind a bookcase that led to an attic. They stayed there for a while until they were found a couple years later. They were taken back to a concentration camp. She died shortly after from a disease called typhus. The only thing that remains is her diary that her father found to preserve her memory and insight to be in the mindof a teenage girl during the war. The diary has many themes but the main ones are stress, grief, and mental illness. Stress was unavoidable during this time of her life. She was born in a wealthy family and worrying about suitors for potential marriage material. She was worrying if she would be good enough for them or if they ll be good enough for her father. She went from being young and care free to being young and terrified. The day that they received the letter to work in the camps was the day that her youth and innocence died. She didn t worry about her suitors as much after that because at the end of the day, she could never trust them enough to tell them her secrets and innermost thoughts. She had to confide in a diary that her father gave her to help cope with what was happening around her. She hardly had any peace of mind knowing that they couldn t stay hiding for long. She ... An act is acted upon through lack of knowledge known as ignorance when the performer is unaware of the consequences of the specific condition. Performing in the course of unawareness must be separated from performing in ignorance. One may be performing ignorance through drunkenness or moral depravity, which is an act of moral corruption that ends up being extremely worse. Voluntary acts are acts that are the opposite of involuntary acts. A voluntary act involves choice that human beings are only capable of. The choice that one makes is different from rage or desire. Such actions, then, are mixed, but are more like voluntary actions; for they are worthy of choice at the time when they are done, and the end of an action is relative to the occasion (Book III). True choice requires rational consideration, an ability unique to human beings, which also means that the human being choosing can verify that one action is preferable to another. An example of voluntary action is the decision to play a sport for school or not. I have gained a lot experience with coding through a combination of the group code conversion and online courses in JavaScript, HTML and CSS, and jQuery. The coding conversion has been a rewarding project, because it has allowed me to see examples of how coding is used in the work environment, which isn t always discussed in the classroom environment. Over the course of my internship, I have also become more familiar with office procedures including: communicating with others through Outlook, daily Huddle meetings, and the overall importance of communication. Before this internship, email was just a way for me to get information from professors and peers, but now it is a tool to organize and communicate with others quickly and effectively. Huddle meetings were new to me, but I quickly understood the importance of keeping others up to date on my current progress. The Huddle meetings became a way for problems to be addressed quickly and it allowed for the group to come up with a unified solution to problems. Of the lessons learned this summer, the most crucial is that communication is critical. Without it, peers don t know where you are or where you are going. She refers to a secular pre revolutionary time through contrast, the oppressive characteristics of the fundamentalist government upon women in specifics. In comparison, her work is very similar to Margaret Atwood s, A Handmaid s Tale, in which the central character, Offred, reflects upon her former life s freedom, cherishing her former name and in doing so, emphasizes the isolated and enslaved live that she must now endure. She always wondered as to why did the women have to wear it? and the reasoning the fundamentalist gave was so to protect women from all the potential rapist, they decreed that wearing the veil was obligatory (74). This particular quote encompasses the idea of Oedipus The King written by Sophocles, a play that tells the story of the new reigning king of Thebes. Through fate, Oedipus met his end by blinding himself all due to the fact that he would not let go of the past. I find that there is an equal amount of similarities and differences within the text of the play. Starting with Oedipus, we see that he is a very sympathetic leader who always wants to provide a personal connection with that of his community. He is fighting so hard to remove the plague that is stricken over his city of Thebes. This specifically tells us about what type of character Oedipus is as a person and not only that but we see him portrayed as a victim of fate throughout the entire play. Main reason for that is because he was bound by the ankles as a child. Some examples that support Oedipus kind moral are as follows, But we do rate you first of men, both in the common crises of our lives and face to face encounters with the gods...We taught you nothing, no skill, no extra knowledge, still you triumphed... and Speak out, speak to us all. I grieve for these, my people, far more than I fear for my own life (Sophocles 94 96). Comedy In The Play A Midsummer Night s Dream They Way Insults Promote Comedy In a quote by Madeline Kahn she says, Comedy is created when someone is trying very earnestly to do what he feels is the right thing to do at that moment. She is saying that comedy is usually created almost by accident. We try to do the right thing, but it does not always work out in the way we expect it to and the outcome is what makes the situation funny. In the play A Midsummer s Night Dream there are many elements of comedy that Shakespeare uses to communicate what he is trying to present within the play. These elements include mistaken identities, turning things upside down, wit and wordplay, multiple intertwining plots, the element of marriage, insults and burns, suspension of natural laws, language,... She loves him so much that she does not even care when he insults her, she believes him to be joking and takes it as sarcasm. Helena wants to be with Demetrius desperately and he does not want anything to do with her. These lines would be the equivalent of an individual saying you are ugly to another individual and have them reply with you are not and will never be ugly. It is funny and slightly ironic because they are just stating the opposite of one another. Shakespeare added this to show how much Helena was smitten over Demetrius and how much he absolutely loathed her. No matter what he says to her she still loves and cares for him while he just wants her to go away and because of that it gives the perfect opportunity for Demetrius to keep insulting her because no matter what he says to her she takes it in stride. Which allows Shakespeare to have Demetrius keep insulting Helena. These insults keep people laughing and entertained throughout the play. Shakespeare uses insult comedy to show a character s true colors and personality. Most of the insults that are said are directed at Hermia. • 31. Benzoin Synthesis Lab Report This experiment will involve the conversion of Benzoin into Benzil through oxidation using nitric acid. Benzoin was synthesized in a previous experiment using two Benzaldehyde molecules and thiamine hydrochloride as a catalyst. The reaction is known as a Benzoin condensation reaction. This experiment utilized a wide a variety of techniques including reflux; filtering using a Buchner funnel; a melting point analysis; and an IR spectroscopy. The total yield for Benzoin was 3.506 grams which resulted in a percentage yield of 74.74%. Melting point analysis showed that the literature melting point is 134 135 бµ’C, whereas the experiment melting point was 131 133 бµ’C. Based on theoretical yield calculations, the yield for Benzil at the end of the reaction should be 2.368 grams. However, 2.328 grams of crude Benzil were obtained, producing a percent yield of 98.31% (see Table 2). Once the crude Benzil was purified, 0.966 grams of purified Benzil remained. Thus, the percent yield for purified Benzil was 40.79% (see Table 3). The loss of yield could be due to the washing of the crystals using water before recrystallization. The melting point obtained for Benzil in the experiment was 92 95 бµ’C (see Table 4). The actual literature melting point for Benzil is between 94 95 бµ’C (Pavia et al, 2013; Chemicalland21). Given that the melting point obtained in the experiment is close to the actual melting point, the sample is relatively pure. However, since the experimental melting point range has a wider window and started slightly lower compared to the actual melting point, there may be some impurities present in the experimental sample of ... • 33. Persuasive Essay On How To Make Makeup With a million different shades, a bountiful of techniques, and the hidden technicalities, makeup will always be a struggle. The face serves as a canvas, and like all kinds of artwork, it has its own share of mistakes that you cannot help but make. Makeup is not expected to be perfect on the first try, so it is okay. Below you will read some of the most commonly made makeup mistakes and mishaps. Before putting anything on your face, you have to make sure your face is as clean as it can be. Even in this process people make a number of mistakes. You may have all the products you need, moisturizer, cream, face masks, and so on, but if you leave out the right way to cleaning your face then you might neglect the use of these products in the first place. Dr. Nicholas Perricone, MD, emphasizes that it is a common point of confusion. He speaks on how it should be correctly done and what people are unconsciously doing wrong. Whether you are in your teens, 20s or have mature skin, the basics are the same: To avoid irritation, stay away from scrubbing grains, abrasive pads/washcloths, alcohol based toners and astringents. These can disturb the normal skin pH and produce inflammation and dryness that will age and damage the skin. It is also not a good thing to wash your face with hot water because the temperature will cause your face to get rid of its needed natural oils that will keep the skin from being parched. It is much better to go for either cold water or something lukewarm. Emily Orofino also lists on PopSugar.com makeup mistakes that she has noticed over time. The first to take attention to are the brushes you need for makeup in the first place. No matter what the situation, it is important to keep your makeup brushes clean. When your makeup brushes are not cleaned regularly, you are at a risk of breaking out or messing up your future looks. Everyone has to go through this, even professionals. Another one that is commonly observed is the foundation application process. Of course, it is important to know what shade is the best for us. The problem lies on where we test the shade. Orofino sheds some light on a common mistake that is testing the shade on the back of our hand. When testing the shade on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Should we consider all of the illegal immigrants felons? Should we give them full citizenship rights? These are all important questions related to illegal immigration. In 1986, the Immigration Reform and Control Act made it illegal for employers to knowingly hire undocumented workers and imposed fines of up to $11,000 for each violation. Recently, the United States House of Representatives passed a bill, entitled H.R. 4437 (The Border Protection, Antiterrorism, and Illegal ImmigrationControl Act of 2005). Those that have been here less than two years will be the only people that will have to leave the country. I do believe that illegal immigrants do contribute to the economy in some ways, like doing many of the jobs that most citizens will not do. My opponents would counter by saying that Immigrants helped build this country and that immigrants come to America for a better life and end up investing their money here, buying houses, and opening businesses that help the economy. When addressing the fact that there are roughly 12 million illegal immigrants here and this Act could quite possibly make them all felons, many wonder where we are going to put all of these felons. Our prisons are already overpopulated and adding millions more is completely out of the question. Also, many people opposing this Act believe that if we got rid of all of the illegal immigrants that our society would quickly fall into an economic depression. They believe that they are such a vital part of our economy that we could not afford to deport them. I agree that our country cannot afford to consider all 12 million of the immigrants here illegally felons. One of the many reasons why we have so many illegal immigrants in the country is partly due to the fact that the number of immigration investigators in the U.S. fell from 240 in 1999 to just 65 in 2004, according to the Government Accountability Office. ... Changing Consumer Habits Of Wal Mart Changing Consumer Habits Consumer spending habits have altered radically since the 1990s when Wal Mart first saw huge growth in its sales and market share. In the 1990s, the use of online shopping was still in its infancy and mobile shopping was not prevalent until the late 1990s and early 2000s (Merchant, 2011). Online retail shopping has become increasingly common among consumers, and among online retail shoppers, increasing numbers of consumers are using mobile devices (Siwicki, 2014). In the 2013 holiday season, mobile shopping using a smartphone or tablet accounted for about 20 percent of e commerce sales (Egol Hodson, 2013). In comparison, in July of 2014, 56 percent of online retail shopping occurred through the use of a smartphone or tablet (Siwicki, 2014). AO is a patient who is 19 years of age and was assessed by an Alverno College student nurse who uses the Gordon s Functional Health Patterns as a guide in gathering subjective information. Since the patient can fall in one or both age groups of adolescenceand young adulthood, information for both patterns have been included. Once data is collected, a diagnoses can be determined in any areas of concern. Developmental Stage According to Erikson s stages of development, AO could be categorized into two different stages. The first stage is identity vs. role confusion, this is where an adolescent is trying to find out who they are and what their place is in life. If their search turns out to be challenging, it could lead to a crisis where a person almost has to step backwards, revaluate to be able to move forward again. AO positively identified with this stage because she is enrolled in college and working hard to be successful in her classes as a future nurse. AO did not show any signs of current role confusion. There is no evidence of tattoos or piercings, delinquent behavior or apparent changes in her mental health status that lead one to believe that a crisis is present (Edelman, Kudzma Mandle, 2014, p. 522). The second stage is intimacy versus isolation, this is where a young adult would begin to form relationships with people on a more intimate level. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 53. How Does Assimilation Affects Individual Identity How many technological devices do you use daily?
