• Hawass has brought the world of the
pharaohs into the homes and hearts of

Channel, The History Channel & Discovery
Channel.

• In 2005, as part of the National Geographic
Society-sponsored Egyptian Mummy Project
to learn more about patterns of disease,
health, and mortality in ancient Egypt, he led
a team that CT scanned the mummy of King
Tutankhamun.
• His team is continuing to CT scan mummies,
both royal and private, and hopes to solve
some of the mysteries surrounding the lives
and deaths of such important figures as
Hatshepsut and Nefertiti.

• Lord Carnarvon employed him to supervise
Carnarvon's Egyptian excavations in the
Valley of the Kings.
• Carnarvon ﬁnanced Carter's work in the
Valley of the Kings.
• On 4th November 1922, Howard Carter's
excavation group reached Tutankhamun's
tomb
• The tomb that would be considered the best
preserved and most intact pharaonic tomb
ever found in the Valley of the Kings.

• Akhenaten tried to shift his culture
from Egypt's traditional religion,
but the shifts were not widely
accepted. After his death, his
monuments were dismantled and

destroyed.

• Was a short-lived pharaoh in the
late 18th dynasty.
• The names of this pharaoh
translate as “Living are the Forms
of Re”/“Strength is the Soul of Re”
