Routine: 10’
Students start school at 7:20 every day. They enter the building and wait for
the bell in the schoolyard. After this, they raise the flag, greet and hear the
news.
Warm-up 5’:
3. I will greet students. With books closed, I will ask students: Do you like
shopping? Where do you go shopping? Which stores do you like? I will also ask
if there is a big shopping mall in our town and: What else is there in the mall,
apart from stores? Is there a cybercafé? Are there restaurants?
I will tell them my preferences too.
Transition: Great kids! Now pay attention.
Presentation 3’:
I will write the word DUBAI on the board and I will ask students what they
know about it. I will elicit that it is a city in the United Arab Emirates.
I will tell them they will going to read about a big shopping mall in Dubai.
Transition: Excellent! Now, let´s read a text!
Development 22’:
Activity 1 - 8’:
I will ask students to open their books on page 38. I will read aloud the title of
the text and I will check that students understand the word “welcome”. I will
also use the pictures to teach “ice-skating rink”.
I will read aloud the four headings and I will explain the words “headings” and
“visitors”. I will point to sections 1-4 in the text and the example answer. I will
ask students to read and complete the text with the correct headings. I will
check answers with the class.
Then, we will read the information in the stop box.
4. Transition: Very good! Now you are going to read again and complete
a matching task.
Activity 2 - 7’:
I will read aloud 1-5 from activity 2 and make sure students understand
“animals, fish, aquarium, and movie screens”. I will students to read the text
again and complete the matching task. I will check answers with the class.
Transition: Well done! Now choose true or false!
Activity 3 - 7’:
I will check that students understand “swimming pool and pool”. I will read
aloud the first sentence and point out that it is false, because Dubai is in the
United Arab Emirates. Students will read the text again and decide if the
sentences are true or false. I will check answers with the class.
Transition: Excellent job kids! Now it´s time to say goodbye.
5. Closure :
I will say goodbye to students: It´s time to finish now. Goodbye kids! See you
tomorrow.
At the end of the lesson, students will have their break.
