  1. Open source software developed originally by MIT & HP, running on a open source operating system
  2. T-Space is part of the Scholarly Communication suite of services provided by the University of Toronto Libraries. Looking at the definition of Scholarly Communication”thesystem through which research and other scholarly writings are created, evaluated for quality, disseminated to the scholarly community, and preserved for future use. The system includes both formal means of communication, such as publication in peer-reviewed journals, and informal channels, such as electronic listservs” T-Space is situated in the dissemination and preservation of scholarly wittings
  3. T-Space started in 2003, and it showcases and preserves the scholarly work of U of T faculty. T-Space is faculty space, established by the Library to support the dissemination of knowledge by the University community. So we collect scholarly works of U of T faculty and sometimes students and make them available to the world.

  5. Because it is a preservation platform we have the tiff – for preservation and jpg for display
  6. T-Space faces many challenges at the service level, starting with getting the content in the first place. T-Space accepts any file type, and believe me it is not a trivial thing to accommodate that.
  7. Structure, that may be irrelevant outside of organization. Most users come from Google.
