My Favorite Time Of The Day
I wake up to Azan blaring from the loudspeaker of the mosque beside which I lie down daily to rest
my limbs. We do not have dedicated meals, you see. There is no breakfast or lunch or dinner. If the
resting of limbs aligns with a partially filled belly, I feel the day is well spent. This is my favorite time
of the day, though. Supposedly different people looking alike, with freshly groomed up bodies but
sullen faces rush about in the same direction, like the swarms of flies. I overhear their conversations
sometimes, or rather I would say complaints; complaints about the traffic, crowd or taxes. I wonder
whether they realize that they actually make up more than half of the things they complain about. For
example, the crowd. But ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I usually hit the small shops. The big ones have started putting men to keep off people like me. This
wasn t my routine though. I used to visit houses before. There was a time when they were occupied by
people more than they actually had room for. The doors were usually open, and if not for the adults,
the kids running about often handed me some coins. Now things have changed. Houses are small,
occupied by even smaller number of people. And forget about the doors, even the windows are shut
tight. So when I get no luck with the shopkeepers, which is usually the case, I lie down for a nap. The
earnings of the day are now over as I hardly get any in the evenings when the swarms of flies rush
back to their places. With faces grimmer and more sullen than the morning, I am usually pushed off
with a chiding this time. The nights are pretty with the glimmering of lights. I like to sit alone near the
pond overly grown with vegetation and observe the shinning bulbs all over the city while I have my
supper. There are more like me, hidden in open visibility among the roads, bridges and sides of stalls.
We are ghosts to the people behind those lights, floating around with no destination, occasionally
making their presence known for some coins before disappearing into the luminous darkness. I slowly
walk back to my resting place as the most of those glimmering lights go off and shop shutters go
down. As I lie down and close my eyes, I hope to pop up in the fiction land

Advantages Of Electric Car
2. Introduction
2.1 Statement of the Problem
Nowadays, the using of electro car becomes more popular over the world. Most of the people will
drive for work or travel in Zhuhai, and the using of fossil fuel car can cause environmental problem
such as climate change, global warming. Environmental problems are more serious than before. Air
pollution could be caused by releasing off gas from fuel vehicle. The using of electro car is not only
benefit for the environmental problem, but also good for economic development. On the other hand,
there are still a lot of problems need to be solved if we want to popularize the use of electro car in
Zhuhai, such as the limitation of driving distance and long charging time. These kinds of
disadvantages will affect the citizen s willingness of choosing electro car. So we want to find out the
factors that influence Zhuhai citizen willingness of using electro car.

As we know that, electric car is an automobile that using electrical energy propelled by one or more
electric device such as battery. This kind of power will cause the problem of limiting of driving
distance, and the car should charge for the battery again in order to drive for a longer distance. Many
electric designs have limited range, due to the low energy density of batteries compared to the fuel
vehicles. Electric cars mostly have less limited distance for one charge, but fossil fueled cars can
travel for long travel. But they can need time to recharge. On the other hand, electric car can be
charged at home at night, while fossil fueled cars cannot. In America, 71 percent of car drivers drive
less than 40 miles a day, and just for a quick topping up. (UC Davis, 2011).Which means that the
driving distance of electro car is less than fuel vehicle, and the distance of charging is not enough for a

Corrupt Leaders In Lord Of The Flies By William Golding
Corrupt leaders. To follow? Or not to follow?
Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man s character, give him power. Abraham
Lincoln. Once you give a man power, it all goes downhill from there. In The Lord of the Flies by
William Golding, there is one group of boys on an island. The boys elect one chief, Ralph, but another
bigun thinks he s a better chief. So the other boy, Jack, leaves and forms a new tribe with most of the
boys. After a little bit of time, the groups begin to fight resulting in a couple of tragic deaths. Why
would people follow a corrupt leader like Jack? They follow them because they feel like the new
leader can help them better than the old one; they think that the leader or ruler can provide for them
and it doesn t matter who that leader is, they will follow them because there s no one else to follow.
One reason that people will follow a corrupt leader is that the people will look for anyone else to leave
them other than their current leader. All at once, Robert was screaming and struggling with the
strength of the frenzy. Jack had him by the hair and was brandishing a knife behind him was Roger,
fighting to get close. The chant rose ritually, as at the last moment of a dance or a hunt (114). Even
though Jack was hurting one of his friends, they still wanted to follow him because he could protect
them and Ralph could not. Jack was also the only other boy who could lead them. A second example
of this is Why do you hate

Fear Of Crime Research Paper
Fear of crime among college students has been examined, throughout various researches in every
measure. Men and women both have different outlooks on the way their fear is determined. Woman
usually are stalked more by people that they know or usually are harassed, while men are afraid of the
lack of protection that they tend to have or therefore not fear but the ability to try and stay strong. The
problem is the fact that fears cannot be determined or corrected for that matter. In this study
undergraduates from Virginia State University took a survey to measure their perception and fear of
crime. Some students may feel like they are protected by campus police on and around campus but
most will not be able to trust in campus police. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They have been trying to understand how students perceive campus safety, their fears of crime and
how they look to continue to be safe. The way students look at safety determines if their fear of crime
comes from the environment or if it comes from personal fear. They started focusing on gender
differences and how males and females feel about their safety at their schools. According to one of the
articles that was found researchers (Jackson, Veneziano Rigger, 2004) suggested that development of a
policy that screen potential students in an effort to reduce crimes on campus that included sexual
aggression, rape and date rape. It all ties in to harassment as well because you are harassing students
when they are minding their business. Harassment comes into play in a variety of ways not just
physical but verbal and mentally as well. Harassment is a tool to maintain the status quo of social
hierarchy (Iohnson, 2000). Now, when it comes down to it, gender differences play a role in campus
safety as well because of that indicates gender does it the most. Similarly, studies found a relationship
between fear and stalking (when perpetrated by strangers) and physical assault (when perpetrated by
an acquaintance) in their sample of female college students Wilcox et al (2007). The relationship
between the two shows that students really do care about their surroundings and that the fear of being
alone and stalked, whether in broad daylight or at night, takes a toll on students. Most times men tend
to whistle, do catcalls, and make sexual comments and racial slurs towards women. In a study done by
Jennings, Gover, and Pudrzynska (2007) with 997 college students revealed that 22% of respondents
had been victims of at least one type of crime (robbery, sexual assault, assault, theft, burglary, or
fraud) on or in the nearby campus neighborhoods and 46% knew someone

The Master s House By Audre Lorde
Feminism and Patriarchy

Audre Lorde. In her famous article The Master s tools will never dismantle the master s house, Audre
Lorde expresses her disappointment of many feminists who fight for gender equality and in the same
time, they are unconscious racists. Lorde discusses how many feminists disregard the differences

Men are always defined to be men to the extent they are not women; men are masculine, independent,
tough, aggressive, powerful, commanding, in control, rational and non emotional. On the other side,
real women are defined to be the opposite of real men, they should be vulnerable, supportive,
emotional and empathic. Consequently, men use these patriarchal separations of roles to enforce their
masculinity over women, they start issuing laws and regulations that can benefit them and their
supremacy, and at the same time would downgrade women and increase their inferiority. In this same
way, patriarchy has generated colonization that upon dividing humans into different genders, different
races, different classes and different nationality, colonization gained its power from this division. We
all know deep inside that patriarchy is a threat to all humans and even if we are now privileged in our
society for being men, we are still inferior to other men of another race, color and class. I believe that
for us to fight patriarchy we have to choose different tools than those offered by the current system, I
see that reforming patriarchy can t be done with patriarchal tools because they will never generate
anything but patriarchy. I see feminism to be the strongest ideology to be used to combat patriarchy,
but which theory of feminism? In the next

Examples Of Peaceful Resistance
AI believe that peaceful resistance to laws positively impacts a free society because it allows people to
say how they feel, and they do not have to go to extreme measures to feel like they are being heard. A
lot of violence that goes on in other countries occurs because the people just want to be heard by their
government and want to have a say. Peaceful resistance has been around since before Mahatma
Gandhi s time, however he strongly believed in it. He believed in peaceful resistance because he
thought that the government would listen more and be more open to change if the people were not
attacking their soldiers and killing others. By using the tactic of peaceful resistance, one is opening up
the fight to those who are young, old, or disabled and otherwise ... Show more content on

By the people being allowed to peacefully resist government programs or decisions, the people still
feel like they have a say in how the country is run like it was many years ago. Peaceful resistance all
shows others that you do not need to be strong or own a weapon to feel heard. On December 1, 1955,
Rosa Parks made a perfect example of how a peaceful resistance does make a difference. Rosa Parks
refused to give up her seat at the front of the bus for a white man, so she got arrested. Even though she
got arrested for refusing, she showed all the other black people and white people on that bus that she
was not afraid to go to jail for what she believed in. She was not afraid to stand up to two white men
who ordered her to move to the back of the bus. Rosa Parks was very well known after that day
because she used her freedom of speech to say what she wanted and to sit where she wanted to sit. She
did not give in and let the two superior white men bully her into moving to the back. Peaceful
resistance was just starting with Rosa Parks, and it continued for many years and still goes on to this

Henry Morton Stanley s The Man With The Yellow Hat
Along with our beloved monkey, the story also follows a man, the Man with the Yellow Hat. For most
children, the man is just someone that brought George from Africa to the zoo but what they don t
know is that he stands for so much more. The story of this curious monkey is parallel to the astrocytes
that the Congolese people had to face. As we already know George represents a subjugated rebellious
African while the Man with the Yellow Hat Represent Sir Henry Morton Stanley one of the men that
helped facilitate the subjugation.

He couldn t make it popular knowledge of what he wanted to do so he told the world he was forming
the African International Association for the development of Central African. He sent Stanley to do the
leg work. Stanley started by meeting with local chiefs and getting them to sign friendships pacts.
These were ruses to cheat the people out of their land. Once they stopped working Stanley and his
man would force submission from the chiefs which got them land and a workforce. His methods
continued to become more and more brutal. For example, if one of the workers made a mistake he
would have their hand cut off. Pretty soon he had the conquered the whole country and got his king
complete control of it. This Congo Free State called a free state because of its free trade, was owned
personally by the king not the country of Belgium.
In the Congo, the king was able to make his fortune through rubber and mining. The workforce as
stated above were the natives of the country. To make sure they would work King Leopold s soldiers
would kidnap women and children as an incentive for the men.
In the story, the Man in the Yellow Hat takes George away from his home and puts him in a zoo. This
is translated to the thousands of men that Stanley had put to work mining and getting

My Scariest Experience With Teenagers
Teenagers like to make their own decisions rather than their parents making their decisions for them.
At a certain age they think their parents opinions do not matter. Last summer when I had my scariest
experience, I learned to listen to my parents opinions and to not be rebellious. I lived in Moulton
Branch, a peaceful, quiet neighborhood where all one would hear were the birds singing in the day and
crickets chirping at night. I lived in the neighborhood for about four years before we had moved. The
house beside us was vacant for about two and a half years until my friend moved in. I had known her
since I was a minor. Her moving next to us was a big surprise. We would go to each other s house
every day and gossip about the previous school year and how we were excited about the next year. My
mom thought she was a bad influence on me and did not want me hanging with her. Of course I
thought it was nothing bad about her, except she did not dress according to her age. I continued
hanging out with her because she was the only person I knew in the neighborhood and staying in the
house all day was boring. Being rebellious and disobedient can lead to something dangerous. One day
after my mom had left for work I went next door to my friend s house. Her house was like my house.
It was clean and had a freshening scent so I felt comfortable like I was at home. Her mom was also
like another mother to me. She asked if I wanted to have a movie night where we would watch movies

Luther Standing Bear, A Native American Author,...
Luther Standing Bear was a Native American author, philosopher and actor. Luther Standing Bear was
a master at using rhetoric, because with it, he benefits not only his people, but also the human identity.
Luther Standing Bear contributed all of his efforts to get the Native Americans a place in a world that
was no longer theirs. Luther Standing Bear is a pioneer in what would eventually become a movement
for Civil Rights. The ideas that he was using did not involve insults but rather, pointed out views that
others hadn t seen or thought of before. Instead of using hatred and insults, he used his wisdom and his
life experiences to express his views on the world, and why big changes had to be executed
immediately. Standing Bear uses the opportune moment in the early 20th century, while civil rights
was at its infancy to persuade the white man that the Indian was no different than he was. Luther
Standing bear was born in 1868, on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. Luther Standing
Bear s real name was Ota K te (Plenty Kill). For the first eleven years of his life, Standing Bear was
taught the traditional ways of the Lakota. This meant that he learned how to hunt at a young age; he
also learned the tales and the language of his people. Being taught the ways of the Lakota, Standing
Bear would soon be introduced to world that made it impossible for the Indian to survive. This was

people who are disabled to improve their lives physically, mentally, and emotionally. Despite the fact
that horseback riding is typically dismissed as a form of physical therapy, the physical, mental, and
emotional benefits prove that therapeutic riding is a valuable form of therapy. Hippotherapy is a form

Similarities Between Cat People And Cat People
Both
Jacques Tourneur s 1942 film Cat People, along with Gunther von Fritsch 1944 follow up, Curse of
the Cat People, remain legendary pieces of artistic restraint. While many horror films of the era
painted their monsters in broad strokes, Both Cat People films play like steady handed psychological
dramas; maneuvering in the shadows with subtle detail and control. While the films dutifully touch on
a wide array of themes, I believe each picture has an overarching theme Cat People s theme being the
fear of women/women s sexual agency and sexual repression, while The Curse of the Cat People
about imagination and parenting. I will be picking scenes from each film that I feel reinforce these
themes.

How can where you live influence your health and wellbeing?
In this assignment I will attempt to explain how a persons health and wellbeing can be both negatively
and positively impacted on depending on where they live.
UK society is distinguished by health inequalities, they are the unfair and avoidable differences in
peoples health across social groups and different population groups due to social, biological and
geographical factors which usually result in people who are worse of financially encountering poor
health and shorter lifespans.
According to Labontes Model of health and wellbeing (p53 health and wellbeing in neighbourhood)
we are shown how health can be broken down into three main factors, physical, mental and social and
each area overlaps to make complete health.
There are many examples how the neighbourhood you live in can affect your health and wellbeing. To
maintain good physical. Social and mental health we need the following resources. Good
transportation route to local hospitals, nearby parks and walking trails, health shops, more education
and employment opportunities, appropriate housing, more spaces for people to recreate and relax in
like cafes and public plazas, local gyms, outdoor activities and better sewage and drainage. Alternately
the things that have a negative effect on our physical, social and mental wellbeing would be poverty,
people that are financially worse off tend to live in deprived

Lab Report On Redox Titration
Redox Titration
Carmen Ontiveros* Arlette Renteria .
CHEM 1A Lab, Department of Chemistry, California State University, Fresno, CA 93740
Carmenchick@mail.fresnostate.edu
September 23, 2017
The purpose of this experiment was to determine how much KMnO4 was needed to titrate
approximately 1 mL of an Unknow X101 concentrated solution of Oxalic Acid. A standardized
KMnO4 solution was used on a known solution of Oxalic acid to help determine the unknown percent
oxalic acid in unknown X101. The unknown sample for this experiment was sample x101 which
theoretically was a % Oxalic Acid dehydrate sample but, the average of all three trials determined it to
be a 6.7% percent Oxalic acid.
Introduction
In this experiment, a redox reaction occurred. An oxidation reduction reaction (redox) is a type of
chemical reaction that involves a transfer of electrons between two solutions. The chemical being
oxidized is losing electrons and the chemical being reduced is gaining electrons. In this case KMnO4
is losing electrons and Oxalic Acid is gaining electrons. KMnO4 can titrate a or reduce Oxalic acid.
Titration is the technique used to find the unknown concentration of one solution based on the
concentration of a known solution. In equation 2, the molar relationship between the 2 is shown, it is 2
KMnO4 to 5 Oxalic Acid. The molar ratio relationship is useful because it shows how much of a
certain product is needed to help a reaction occur and which chemical is limiting reagent. The
experiment was started by preparing a titrating strength KMnO4 solution from stock to a less
concentrated KMnO4. Equation one shows how this was done. The KMnO4 needed to be diluted, if it
had not been diluted, then it would be way too hard to get an accurate reading of the Oxalic Acid used.
Without being diluted the Oxalic Acid would be strong. The next step was to standardize the KMnO4
solution. It was calculated that 37.5 mL of Oxalic Acid could titrate 15 mL of KMnO4. To determine
the exact molarity of a solution a standardization needs to happen. In this experiment the
standardization found how much Oxalic acid was needed. Through the controlled variable, the fact
that 37.5 Oxalic acid could be titrated by 15 mL of KMnO4, the percent of the

The Analysis And Design Phase Of The Sdlc Of A Project
1.Differentiating the Analysis and Design phase of the SDLC of a project, including various activities
of the design stage
The structure and order of activities exercised for the advance of systems, are known as the System
Development Life Cycle . The activities and processes within this outline are typically executed
according to a sound defined and complete sets of process known as methodologies. These
methodologies comprise specific actions for the requirement analysis as well as the design of mutually
the data and development sections of the arrangement.
We initiate the development of the project through the primary phase or stage of SDLC which is an

Wrongful Convictions Of Innocent People Essay
Unfortunately, wrongful convictions of innocent people sometimes happen in the criminal justice
system. According to a new report from the University of Michigan Law School s National Registry of
Exonerations, 2015 set a record for the number of wrongly convicted Americans who received justice;
149 people who were either declared innocent or cleared of their convictions or guilty pleas. Many of
them had already served long prison terms for crimes they did not commit (Mencimer, 2016.)
There are many causes that can contribute to a wrongful conviction. Witness misidentification is the
most common cause; we know that the human mind is not like a tape recorder, and can make
mistakes. Forensic analysts presenting evidence that has little or no scientific basis, false confessions
by suspects during the interrogation process, government officials taking steps to ensure that a suspect
is convicted despite poor evidence, testimony by people with incentives to testify, and poorly prepared
lawyers are just some of the other causes that can result in a wrongful conviction. The death penalty
case of Cameron Todd Willingham, of Corsicana, Texas, is one that experts now agree that the
evidence proves he was wrongfully convicted. But unfortunately, he was already put to death by lethal
injection.
On December 23, 1991, the Willingham family home was engulfed in flames. Stacey Willingham was

Filial Piety In A Devoted Son
Filial Piety in A Devoted Son A Devoted Son is the story of Rakesh, a young Indian man and the
relationship with his family. He receives top honors at school, accolades from his American and Indian
comrades, rises to the director of the local hospital, and becomes the richest doctor in his town. Critics
argue this is Desai s comment about perfect Indian society, where adherence to filial piety, respecting
one s parents, elders, and ancestors, is paramount (Crane). Rakesh s view of it leads to a breakdown in
his relationship with his father. The father feels neglected by his family because they no longer respect
his wishes. To Rakesh, belief in protecting his family from the ills of society, despite their temptation,
proves his dedication to family (Desai). Filial piety in the abstract is a good standard to live by, but it
could lead to destruction because adhering to it removes emotions. In the beginning, the relationship
between Rakesh and his parents was an admirable one. Rakesh considers his parents feelings prior to
making major decisions. From choosing a wife to becoming the primary caretaker to his father after
his mother s death, Rakesh s sole desire seems to make his parents proud. Though the author does not
dwell on the concept of filial piety regarding the mother, she shows her dedication to the family at the
expense of her health.
The mother s death marks a change in the family. The old father very quickly went to pieces, (Desai)

It was conventionally used in Noir films to represent the dark overtones of the society. It is used as a
motif in Pleasantville for the majority of the beginning of Jennifer and David s adventure (until things
start to change, that is). This is especially significant with all the subtle implications and allusions to a
Nazi style dictatorship. For example, the burning of books is reminiscent of that in 1936 when the
German government burnt all books which would oppose its rule, in fear that the society it governed
would think of rebelling.
Big Bob is the obvious ruler, as he is almost always seen with a low shot, making him look big and
powerful to the audience. Bob s situation is similar, burning books to stop changes occurring. Books
are seen as works of art which are derived from the imagination of thinking people. Bob s censorship
practices extend to the prohibition of Mr Johnson from using colours to paint (that is, from using the
full extent of his imagination) in his Code of Conduct. In this way, he is much like the German
government in the 30s. However, he wants to continue his rule without any violent opposition; only
pleasantness . There is irony however, as there is vandalism and disruption when the Milk Bar is
broken into and sabotaged because of his encouragement, which is the exact opposite of pleasant . The
fact that people submitted to this way of

Comparison between Metropolis and Blade Runner
Comparison between Metropolis and Blade Runner
From the silent epic of Fritz Lang Metropolis 1927 to Ridley s Scott s spectacular Blade Runner 1982
the connection between architecture and film has always been intimate. The most apparent concepts
that connect these two films are the overall visuals of both films and their vision of city of the future.
The futuristic city of both Scott and Lang are distinct in their landscapes, geography, and social
structure. These two films sought to envision a future where technology was the basis by which
society functioned. Technology was the culture and the cities would crumble without it. Metropolis
and Blade Runner uses the themes relationships amongst female sexuality and male vision, and
technology. However, Gender roles and technology seems to be the most important part in both films.
Blade Runner became a cult classic. The film may have survived long enough to benefit from a
renewed taste for darker, more violent sci fi. It s appeal has less to do with a fascination for outer
space (which does not feature beyond reference in a few lines of dialogue) than with a vision of earth
and humankind in the near future (Roberts and Wallis Pg 157 8). Both films have a timeless quality to
it, as they are representative of the future of our planet earth. I find it so interesting that even though
these films were made in different times their ideas about the futuristic city and society are almost
identical.
The futuristic aspect of these

Toyot The Car Company
Toyoda and Honda are both automobile giants in the world. As everyone knows, Toyota is Japan s
No.1 car company, and Honda is the second car company in Japan. Toyota was founded by Kiichiro
Toyoda in 1937 in Japan, two years after he built his first car. The company began to produce cars,
trucks, vans and SUVs, expanding rapidly through the years. One of Toyota s notable achievements

Guatemal A Country And Poor Country
Guatemala is a beautiful, diverse yet small and poor country in Latin America. Because of its ongoing
economic crisis, the country has reached a reality where, according to WFP (2016), Guatemala has not
only the highest rate of malnutrition in Latin America, but also is considered the country with the
fourth biggest rate of chronic malnutrition worldwide. This topic has an enormous relevance because
as WFP (2016) mentions, the chronic malnutrition that kids from this country go though is what makes
Guatemala be one of the 36 countries in the world that form 90% of the worlds stunting. According to
Unicef (2016), the percentage of children of five years or less that are considered to be underweight is
for 4 in every 10. It is astonishing to realize that it is nearly half of the infant population in the entire
country of Guatemala that is undernourished. In the following paragraphs it will be examined
questions involving the relation that mothers have with the under nutrition of the children and if past
generations can influence under nutrition. Furthermore, it will be examined what is traditionally given
to kids at a daycare.
Is there a correlation between the relationships that mothers have with their children s under nutrition
at an early age? Can the current situation of malnutrition have been influenced by past generations?

The Women s Liberation Movement In The United States
The Women s Liberation Movement also known as feminism, has impacted the past and present
United States in numerous ways. The Movement and has continued since 1848 and is still going

The Women s Liberation Movement has helped women gain more respect, rights to her body, and
equality in the workplace. Every human, male or female should support the movement. As a result of
the movement, women have been gaining rights from feminism for over a thousand years. The
Feminist Movement officially started in Seneca Falls at the first Women s convention. Where they
fought for the right to vote, even though it took over 70 years for women to get the opportunity. The
people who participate in the movement fought for numerous rights for women, like voting, birth
control, and equality in the workplace(Simon). Without millions the of people supporting, Women
wouldn t be treated or have the same rights they do today. That s why it s still so important to support
feminism because if no one does all the hard work of the women in the past would go to waste. ...

AZA recommends a formalized nutrient program for all penguins. Diets should fill nutritional needs,

Physical exams are there to screen for the health of the penguins. Regular screenings help treat and
prevent disease, parasites, and other illnesses. Monthly weights are attainable with training. Penguins
can be trained to stand on a scale to allow for monthly weights which are great for seasonal changes
such as molting and breeding. Blood sampling are also great tools for monitoring glucose, calcium,
and many other blood component levels to look for deficiencies. During exams animals should have
their eyes, feet, beak and mouth for any potential problems. Molting is very stressful for penguins and
it uses a lot of energy thus requiring a nutritional change. Most penguins molt once a year after
breeding however the African penguin molts longer. One institution had African penguins that molted
every moth of the year between March and August. The molting period has both an increase in
appetite and a fasting period due to natural wild behavior where during the actual molting the
penguins would be stuck on land where food isn t avaible. Wild African penguins have been reported
to gain 31% weight during pre molt and a 41% loss of body weight during molt. So some fasting in

molting process takes an average of 16.75 days for African penguins. Also during molting flipper

The Effect Of Sodium Thiosulphate On Reaction Rate
Title:
The effect of Hydrochloric Acid volume with Sodium Thiosulphate on the reaction rate.
Introduction:
Research Question: How does changing the volume of Hydrochloric Acid on Sodium Thiosulphate
effect the time taken for the X Mark to dissapear?
The rate of a chemical reaction is the time required for a given quantity of reactant to be changed to
product. The unit of time may be seconds, minutes, hours, days or years. For a chemical reaction to
occur it needs to have a collision, and it is affected by several factors, such as temperature increases in
general increase the rate of reaction, for the example 2O°C rise in temperature doubles the reaction
rate. Catalysts affect the rate by using or allowing a different pathway for the reaction ... Show more

This occur because the increase of volume of HCl will increase the rate of reaction between
Hydrochloric acid and sodium Thiosulphate particles.
The scientific result for this experimet is the results from preliminary experiments support the
prediction made. From the results you can see that there is a directly proportional relationship between
the concentration and the rate of reaction. Ifyou increase the concentration then the rate of reaction
will also increase. The volume of a solution will effect the rate of reaction because the rate of reaction
depends on how much the molecules of reacting substance will collide, more volume of HCL make
the reaction of Sodium Thiosulphate and HCL to react faster.
This experiment is testing how the rate of reaction is affected when volume is changed. The theory is
said that increasing the volume can increase the rate of reaction by increasing the rate of molecular
collisions. The phenomenon behind all of this is the collision theory and how it plays a big role in this
investigation. The higher the volume of a solution the less time/faster it will take for the system to turn
into equilibrium, and if concentration is decreased, time taken for the solution to go cloudy

Discussion. Overview. This Study Explored The Attitudes

Overview
This study explored the attitudes and experiences of dog owners who have had their dog neutered.
Little research has explored owner attitudes and experiences of dog neutering, with the only Australian
study of this nature being conducted over two decades ago.6 Moreover, most research on this topic has
used quantitative methods where participants stated whether they agreed or disagreed with particular
statements. An exception is the qualitative study of Downes et al4 which examined enabling and
disabling factors in the decision of dog owners to neuter their pet.4 Regardless of research
methodology, most studies have focused on factors that influence owners decision to, or not to, neuter

Previous literature has reported that owners consistently select neutering configurations that include
administration of pain medication before, during and after the procedure over configurations that do
not include pain control.12 Thus, while participants were concerned about cost, it is not a major factor
in dog neutering, as pet welfare and wellbeing generally outweigh cost. It is interesting to contrast this
finding with that of Stowe14 who found that veterinarians are concerned about cost and make a
judgment that most pet owners cannot afford veterinary care or may not have the willingness or
capacity to pay for the best of care.14 Therefore, our findings suggest that veterinarians may
underestimate client willingness to pay for veterinary treatment. Further research in this area is
warranted.

On a cold February evening in 2009, just outside the city of Buffalo, New York, two pilots crashed a

prevent an accident of a similar nature from happening, the U.S. Congress passed H.R. 5900, the
Airline Safety and Federal Aviation Administration Extension Act. This bill under Title II was aimed
to enhance airline safety and in part prevent an accident of this nature from occurring again (U.S.

Asia s economy is booming and this has resulted in the growth of many startup carriers that offer tax
free salaries and free housing for pilots with less than 1500 hours a very attractive opportunity. This
may cause a potential migration of pilots that would lead to many U.S. airlines having planes but no
one qualified to fly them.
Further contributing to the shortage is that the cost to become a pilot is already expensive, causing low
interest in the field; this law would make it even worse. By calculation, if a potential pilot were to start
today, he would probably be facing a debt of between $50,000 and $80,000 just to receive the flight
training required to gain 250 hours (Chatterjee). Added to this is the cost of attending a college with an
accredited program. Potential pilots could be looking at paying well over $200,000 in loans to be able
to fly. Before this law passed, pilots were assured that if they worked hard and passed through all the
training received from college and flight school they would be able to become a pilot with one of the
regional carriers and make a small salary while obtaining the required hours for one of the major
carriers. Now, even this option has been taken away by the government because of the new hour
requirement. Many pilots will have to look for work at their local airport for two or even three years
without a steady pay in order to get a job which will only

Manual muscle testing will be tested to assess the strength in muscles used for running such as the
prime/strong muscles which are the hamstrings, gastrocnemius, soleus, quadriceps, and tibialis

knee flexion, and knee extension. Also, range of motion will be tested on the tight muscles such as the
hamstrings, gastrocnemius, quadriceps, and tibialis anterior. When the muscles are tight, the runner

pain level the patient is at when running. This will help determine whether the patient is minimizing

we must know that if these muscles are weak or become fatigued easily, there is less control of the leg

Reality Check Sommers

Fourth Paper
1. Christina Hoff Sommers, The Equal Pay Day Reality Check (pp. 122 128).
Sommers does not believe that the unfair wage gap between men and women is authentic. Sommers
assumes that there are many reasons explained the gap such as women s decision on the type of work
they do, their field of study and the time distribution for their families and the workplace. Women
should not blame others for the lower pay. It is because they are less likely to take jobs that require a
lot of effort and physical ability. According to an analysis from the U.S. Department of Labor, some
reasons causing the wage gap is owing to the industry and occupation. During her career, a woman

There is no surprise that men win again in the race of wage. They are men and women working in the

Act is under discussion and it is supported by the two parties. Nevertheless, Sommers calls it is a
misleading act because it will create a chaos in the American workplace. Employers will have to settle
in a lawsuit that involves discrimination and the continuing effects of past discrimination. Sommers
decides to take sides with innocent employers in this case since they may not realize their actions are
against the law. Employers will be hesitant when hiring someone. She strongly argues that the
employers are innocent and have no idea when there is a pay gap due to past discrimination. She uses
an example of universities to support her argument. Professors in the business school will receive a
higher pay than those who teach the social subjects. The market forces are responsible for this
variation. Women Association is not convinced that it s because of the market forces, so they try to
seek for evidence to prove that the pay gap is related to past discrimination.

Mike Malone Inc. Case Study
In the final processes of the contract finalization, care must be taken as over time the market switches
up and which unveils all associated risks. It is at this time where a company reaps the benefits of all
the negotiating and getting their offers approved by the Contracting Officer. Mike Malone Inc. (MMI)
offered fix prices to the Navy and should also look at their employee pay, materials needed and quality
of work to be done. The company functions under the HUBZone and have just been awarded the
flooring contract for Naval Station Norfolk (NOB Norfolk). One of the key attributes that won the
base Contracting Officer over was the fact that MMI had the lowest profit margin at 8% and the
current market position they were in.
An additional trait the company had was the fact that they owned the ... Show more content on

This patent gave them more power over the competition of local flooring companies and one in
particular has since decided to sub contract under MMI. Upon starting the job, MMI has discovered
that NOB Norfolk has flooring equipment that has not been used however, MMI stocks inventory that
is fairly dated material. A key driving factor to establishing the cost of the contract is attaining MMI s
patent so they won t lose money and protection against any litigations (Thiele, Blakeway and Hosch,
2010). In seeking payments for their services, MMI will be utilizing the performance based and
receiving progress methods to accrue payments from the federal government. These two methods are
good choices because they are the most preferred way when dealing with the United States

Research Paper
The problem regarding privacy is one of the foremost discussed topics in today s society where
everyone has an abundant flow of information. Digitalized personal data and record of daily life can
be spread through the internet very easily; thus, it made means of protecting that information more
important than any time in the past, changing today s perception about privacy from the past.
Furthermore, spread in use of smart phones advanced the internet by far more, creating many more
service available as well. This which that changes people s perception and use of data mentioned
above due to increased importance of protecting personal data.

The Spanish Data protection Agency concluded Google to find and delete 80 some articles that
included complainants names. Spain decided on the case, concluding that people s right to be
forgotten or right to oblivion has been violated. The right for people s privacy has changed over time
as technology improved. As technology improved, one s history stays on digital record much longer
than days of analog. Trying to prevent the harm that may result from this introduced people the right
to be forgotten. It is new idea people started to see as digital advancement, especially use of internet
became widely accessible to the public. Not only in Spain, but also in all across Europe, this newly
introduced right, right to be forgotten, is under being considered. On July 6th, 2011, European
Parliament decided on a comprehensive approach on personal data protection in the European Union ;
this resolution right to be forgotten is critical need to grant people their private rights.
From The Right to Privacy by Samuel Warren and Louis Brandeis in 1890, the idea of a right to be let

violation of people s privacy was threatening the society. Warren and Brandeis argued that due to the
new technologies and advancements, the need to protect the right to be let

Cuban Missile Crisis Prime Time Analysis
During times of national crises, television galvanized the country by preempting regular programming
to provide essential coverage of significant events. Memorable examples of this were seen during the
Cuban Missile Crisis, the 14 days in 1962 when the United States and the Soviet Union squared off
over the placement of Russian missiles in Cuba, and the four days reportage of the assassination and
funeral of John F. Kennedy. The same was true with news coverage of the U.S. space program,
especially the Moon landing in July 1969. Films of battlefield activity in Vietnam, as well as
photographs, interviews, and casualty reports, were broadcast daily from the centres of conflict into
American living rooms. As both international and domestic upheaval ... Show more content on

The escapist fictional fare of prime time made little reference to what was being reported on the news.
That began to change in the late 1960s and early 70s, but the transition was an awkward one; some
shows began to reflect the new cultural landscape, but most continued to ignore it. That Girl (ABC,
1966 71), an old fashioned show about a single woman living and working in the big city with the
help of her boyfriend and her daddy aired on the same schedule as The Mary Tyler Moore Show
(CBS, 1970 77), a new fashioned comedy about a single woman making it on her own. In the same
week, one could watch The Lawrence Welk Show (ABC, 1955 71), a 15 year old musical variety
program that featured a legendary polka band, and Rowan and Martin s Laugh In (NBC, 1968 73), an
irreverent new comedy variety show plugged into the 1960s counterculture. The 1970 71 season was
the last season for a number of series that had defined the old television landscape, including The Ed
Sullivan Show, The Lawrence Welk Show, The Red Skelton Show, The Andy Williams Show, and
Lassie, all of which had been on the air since the 1950s or earlier. Created by Norman Lear and based
loosely on the British sitcom Till Death Us Do Part, All in the Family was the clearest example of
what would soon be known as relevance TV. It took as its subject matter issues

Recitatif Toni Morrison Summary
It is the expectation of this paper to take a gander at Toni Morrison as an author and how she
communicated her political perspectives through fiction. The short story by Ms. Morrison Recitatif ,
written in 1983. She has turned into the voice for the Black American experience. Recitatif is the
narrative of two ladies one dark and one white. From the earliest starting point of the story the peruser
can get on racial pieces of information and arrive at this conclusion. The one thing precluded in this
story is which one white and which one is dark. This where the peruser s own particular racial biases
may come in. On page 210, it states we looked like salt and pepper standing their and that is the thing
that alternate children called us once in a while (Mays p. 210) Although this isn t the principal piece of
information this the most clear intimation to the race of the two young ladies. The creator forgets the
racial character of the two young ladies. She is testing the peruser to take after her intimations all
through the story. The peruser s own racial predispositions may impact which young lady they was
dark or white. There are a few references to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Roberta beyond any doubt did. Notice amusing, I signify (Mays p.210). Something the writer does to
challenge the perusers racial biases is Twyla is the unreliable one. She is the person who feels not as
much as the other kids. It is Twyla s mom that is reprimanded by Roberta s mother. It is additionally
Roberta, who does not need her youngster dispatched crosswise over town to go to an unexpected
school in comparison to his companions. It is Twyla who ends up annoyed that Roberta would not
need her child to go to a school that her child went to. It is through barring their racial character that
the peruser can perceive what thoughts they brought into the

Live Like You Were Dying Poem Analysis
Early October 2016 to January 2017, was the hardest time ever in my life. In October we found out
that my Grandpa had a very aggressive form of stage four brain cancer. We knew that there was
something wrong but we never thought it would be that bad. For the next month, the doctors ran tests,
decided on a game plan, and gave results. My grandpa was in severe pain and confusions. We got the
results that he would need to go through surgery on his brain to remove the tumor. This was around
November 15. That was probably the scariest day of my life. His surgery and I will never forget, was
at 12:10 pm. I remember sitting at the kitchen counter and I just prayed for half an hour. After that, I
remember going on my computer and searching on Google ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The title of the song is the theme in itself, Live Like You Were Dying. Other quotes include, And a
moment came that stopped me on a dime , Someday I hope you get the chance to live like you were
dying , and Like tomorrow was a gift . These quotes really help us to understand the theme of living
like we are dying. There are also poetic devices found in the song that drives home the theme. First is
the imagery of the lyrics And a moment came that stopped me on a dime. This really means that this
event stopped him all of a sudden, or suddenly. Another part of the song that shows a pattern is the
ends of the first two lines when they use words like 40 and me, words that rhyme and are soft and then
when you get to the third line that says Stopped me on a dime , dime is a hard word and really wakes
you up . The rhymes, divin and climbin; deeper and sweeter; book and look, are words that show
action and love. Words that show you are doing something with your life. There is also a play on
words, I became a friend a friend would like to have. It means that he became a friend that someone
would like to have. These are just some of the poetic devices shown in the song Live Like You Were

Fennekin s Life Is Hard-Personal Narrative
The sun was rising in the east when I left Aquacorde town that morning. I balanced along the walls of
the bridge across Corde River, crossing over into Route Two. Jumping down on the other side, I
tucked my fringe behind my ear, turning my head to the side to view what was usually a blind spot. A
line of trees stood in my sightline, following the line of the river as it trailed along Kalos. Santalune
Forest was directly in front of me, the first of many obstacles I would have to go through to challenge
the League. I slowly headed towards its dark entrance, trying to push the thoughts of what pokémon I
would find inside to the back of my mind. I could deal with those later. I ran my hands over my arms,
and, feeling goose bumps, cursed myself ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

shaking his head to clear it. Okay! Amazing job, Fennekin! Calem called. Now use an ember!
Fennekin inhaled deeply, the fur in his ears glowing. Fenne kiiiiin! he cried, releasing a small burst of
flame towards Bunnelby. Its eyes widened in shock, and it quickly jumped to the side, trying to avoid
the fire type attack. It wasn t fast enough, and got a singed pair of ears for its trouble. Great! Now we
throw a pokéball at it... Calem said to us, grasping a capsule in his hand. He threw it, spinning fast
through the air towards the wild pokémon. It hit it smack bang in the centre of its forehead, and it took
a step back, sightly dazed. The button in the centre of the black band released, opening up, sucking the
pokémon in with a white light. The pokéball fell to the ground, bouncing a few times before lying still.

Sports in Pop Culture
Abstract
Gender, race, and competitiveness in youth sports have been controversial beginning on the very first
day of sports broadening its boundaries (Granderson, 2012). From Brent Barry to Kristy Yamaguchi to
Tiger Woods, one of the youngest golf champions ever, sports has always been one way. Different
people of different backgrounds, ethnic groups, and social classes, and ages have shown that he or she
can do anything if they have the will to accomplish the task (Granderson, 2012). Tiger Woods won 71
PGA Tours, Kristy Yamaguchi excelled in figure skating and Brent Barry showed that White men can
jump when he won the 1996 slam dunk contest. Race, gender, and youth have nothing to do with
ability and skill in sports (Granderson, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A clear example of poor sportsmanship is in the recent highlight of the (bounty program) with the
New Orleans Saints. According to the New York Times, players collected bonuses if they enable the
opposing team member to return to the game because of hard hits or injuries (Battista, 2012). This
team of highly paid athletes acted irresponsibly, caused bodily harm to the other players, and brought
shame upon the franchise.
The United States appears to be a nation obsessed with sports, more than fans based on the virtual
addition to sports statistics (Petracca Sorapure, 2007). Most fans are hook on statistic; this is how they
measure the achievements of the most likeable athletes and team. This may be how fans hold on to
memories of never to repeated athletes performance and without a doubt to find more evidence of
Americans preoccupation with sports (Petracca Sorapure, 2007). For Instance; the mass media of
newspapers who allot an entire section sport reports and statistics, weekly and monthly publications
focusing on sports, and, important sport events, such as the Super Bowl. Sport in American culture are
some of the higher rated on the TV broadcasts, and various cable network that are dedicated to
branding sports 24 hour a day (Petracca Sorapure, 2007). The fans of America have fun in their

Nurse Ratched Psychopath
Nurse Ratched is a complex character, who has been interpreted in different ways by my fellow
classmates. Some would argue that she is psychopathic, however I have reason to believe otherwise.
Although Nurse Ratched has psychotic tendencies, I find that she is more of a socipath than
psychopath. A sociopath is an individual with blatant disregard for the lives of others and lacks
conscience, just as the Nurse does. A psychopath suffers from aggressive mental problems, much like
the character of Taber. To say that Nurse Ratched is a psychopath would imply that she is unequipped
to be the mastermind that she is. Nurse Ratched is precise and tactful when it comes to controlling her
ward, so assuming that she is psychopathic is simplifying the

Jonas In The Giver By Lois Lowry
Imagine, you are an ordinary member of your society, wanting to grow up like your parents and elders
of the community. Suddenly, you are given the highest position of your society, the Receiver, and soon
to be leader. How would you adjust? In the novel, The Giver by Lois Lowry, Jonas commences as a
naive member of the community, midway he is knowledgeable, in the conclusion he is a courageous
man. In the inception of the novel, Jonas is accustomed to the traditions of his family and all of the
families in his society. Jonas, his parents, and his sister, Lily, convey their dreams to one another each
morning. The sharing of community members dreams and additional customs are established by the
Council of Elders. In addition, the community leaders hold information and memories from the
members of the community: love, hate, war, and hunger. Thus, Jonas is a naive boy, who has no
knowledge on the community s history or its present state. The Council of Elders blind Jonas as well
as his fellow community members, by not informing people on release, senses, feelings, and colors. ...

This life lesson learned from childhood suddenly does not apply to Jonas. When given the job of the
Receiver, Jonas must learn to keep secrets and suffer pain that he was never exposed to. The new
workers, Jonas s old friends, of the community share their stories and lessons each day after training.
Contrary, Jonas has made the mandatory pledge to stay quiet and never tell a soul about the memories:
love, hate, war, and hunger. Therefore, Jonas is no longer a naive boy but a young man blooming with

  • 2. My Favorite Time Of The Day I wake up to Azan blaring from the loudspeaker of the mosque beside which I lie down daily to rest my limbs. We do not have dedicated meals, you see. There is no breakfast or lunch or dinner. If the resting of limbs aligns with a partially filled belly, I feel the day is well spent. This is my favorite time of the day, though. Supposedly different people looking alike, with freshly groomed up bodies but sullen faces rush about in the same direction, like the swarms of flies. I overhear their conversations sometimes, or rather I would say complaints; complaints about the traffic, crowd or taxes. I wonder whether they realize that they actually make up more than half of the things they complain about. For example, the crowd. But ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I usually hit the small shops. The big ones have started putting men to keep off people like me. This wasn t my routine though. I used to visit houses before. There was a time when they were occupied by people more than they actually had room for. The doors were usually open, and if not for the adults, the kids running about often handed me some coins. Now things have changed. Houses are small, occupied by even smaller number of people. And forget about the doors, even the windows are shut tight. So when I get no luck with the shopkeepers, which is usually the case, I lie down for a nap. The earnings of the day are now over as I hardly get any in the evenings when the swarms of flies rush back to their places. With faces grimmer and more sullen than the morning, I am usually pushed off with a chiding this time. The nights are pretty with the glimmering of lights. I like to sit alone near the pond overly grown with vegetation and observe the shinning bulbs all over the city while I have my supper. There are more like me, hidden in open visibility among the roads, bridges and sides of stalls. We are ghosts to the people behind those lights, floating around with no destination, occasionally making their presence known for some coins before disappearing into the luminous darkness. I slowly walk back to my resting place as the most of those glimmering lights go off and shop shutters go down. As I lie down and close my eyes, I hope to pop up in the fiction land ... Many electric designs have limited range, due to the low energy density of batteries compared to the fuel vehicles. Electric cars mostly have less limited distance for one charge, but fossil fueled cars can travel for long travel. But they can need time to recharge. • 5. Corrupt Leaders In Lord Of The Flies By William Golding Corrupt leaders. To follow? Or not to follow? Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man s character, give him power. Abraham Lincoln. Once you give a man power, it all goes downhill from there. In The Lord of the Flies by William Golding, there is one group of boys on an island. The boys elect one chief, Ralph, but another bigun thinks he s a better chief. So the other boy, Jack, leaves and forms a new tribe with most of the boys. After a little bit of time, the groups begin to fight resulting in a couple of tragic deaths. Why would people follow a corrupt leader like Jack? They follow them because they feel like the new leader can help them better than the old one; they think that the leader or ruler can provide for them and it doesn t matter who that leader is, they will follow them because there s no one else to follow. One reason that people will follow a corrupt leader is that the people will look for anyone else to leave them other than their current leader. All at once, Robert was screaming and struggling with the strength of the frenzy. Jack had him by the hair and was brandishing a knife behind him was Roger, fighting to get close. The chant rose ritually, as at the last moment of a dance or a hunt (114). Even though Jack was hurting one of his friends, they still wanted to follow him because he could protect them and Ralph could not. Jack was also the only other boy who could lead them. A second example of this is Why do you hate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Fear Of Crime Research Paper Fear of crime among college students has been examined, throughout various researches in every measure. Men and women both have different outlooks on the way their fear is determined. Woman usually are stalked more by people that they know or usually are harassed, while men are afraid of the lack of protection that they tend to have or therefore not fear but the ability to try and stay strong. The problem is the fact that fears cannot be determined or corrected for that matter. In this study undergraduates from Virginia State University took a survey to measure their perception and fear of crime. Some students may feel like they are protected by campus police on and around campus but most will not be able to trust in campus police. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They have been trying to understand how students perceive campus safety, their fears of crime and how they look to continue to be safe. The way students look at safety determines if their fear of crime comes from the environment or if it comes from personal fear. They started focusing on gender differences and how males and females feel about their safety at their schools. According to one of the articles that was found researchers (Jackson, Veneziano Rigger, 2004) suggested that development of a policy that screen potential students in an effort to reduce crimes on campus that included sexual aggression, rape and date rape. It all ties in to harassment as well because you are harassing students when they are minding their business. Harassment comes into play in a variety of ways not just physical but verbal and mentally as well. Harassment is a tool to maintain the status quo of social hierarchy (Iohnson, 2000). Now, when it comes down to it, gender differences play a role in campus safety as well because of that indicates gender does it the most. Similarly, studies found a relationship between fear and stalking (when perpetrated by strangers) and physical assault (when perpetrated by an acquaintance) in their sample of female college students Wilcox et al (2007). The relationship between the two shows that students really do care about their surroundings and that the fear of being alone and stalked, whether in broad daylight or at night, takes a toll on students. Most times men tend to whistle, do catcalls, and make sexual comments and racial slurs towards women. In a study done by Jennings, Gover, and Pudrzynska (2007) with 997 college students revealed that 22% of respondents had been victims of at least one type of crime (robbery, sexual assault, assault, theft, burglary, or fraud) on or in the nearby campus neighborhoods and 46% knew someone ... They may allow us temporarily to beat him at his own game, but they will never enable us to bring about genuine change. And this fact is only threatening to those women who still define the master s house as their only source of support. Audre Lorde. In her famous article The Master s tools will never dismantle the master s house, Audre Lorde expresses her disappointment of many feminists who fight for gender equality and in the same time, they are unconscious racists. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Men are always defined to be men to the extent they are not women; men are masculine, independent, tough, aggressive, powerful, commanding, in control, rational and non emotional. On the other side, real women are defined to be the opposite of real men, they should be vulnerable, supportive, emotional and empathic. Consequently, men use these patriarchal separations of roles to enforce their masculinity over women, they start issuing laws and regulations that can benefit them and their supremacy, and at the same time would downgrade women and increase their inferiority. In this same way, patriarchy has generated colonization that upon dividing humans into different genders, different races, different classes and different nationality, colonization gained its power from this division. We all know deep inside that patriarchy is a threat to all humans and even if we are now privileged in our society for being men, we are still inferior to other men of another race, color and class. I believe that for us to fight patriarchy we have to choose different tools than those offered by the current system, I see that reforming patriarchy can t be done with patriarchal tools because they will never generate anything but patriarchy. Examples Of Peaceful Resistance AI believe that peaceful resistance to laws positively impacts a free society because it allows people to say how they feel, and they do not have to go to extreme measures to feel like they are being heard. A lot of violence that goes on in other countries occurs because the people just want to be heard by their government and want to have a say. Peaceful resistance has been around since before Mahatma Gandhi s time, however he strongly believed in it. By the people being allowed to peacefully resist government programs or decisions, the people still feel like they have a say in how the country is run like it was many years ago. Peaceful resistance all shows others that you do not need to be strong or own a weapon to feel heard. On December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks made a perfect example of how a peaceful resistance does make a difference. Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat at the front of the bus for a white man, so she got arrested. Even though she got arrested for refusing, she showed all the other black people and white people on that bus that she was not afraid to go to jail for what she believed in. She was not afraid to stand up to two white men who ordered her to move to the back of the bus. Rosa Parks was very well known after that day because she used her freedom of speech to say what she wanted and to sit where she wanted to sit. She did not give in and let the two superior white men bully her into moving to the back. For most children, the man is just someone that brought George from Africa to the zoo but what they don t know is that he stands for so much more. The story of this curious monkey is parallel to the astrocytes that the Congolese people had to face. As we already know George represents a subjugated rebellious African while the Man with the Yellow Hat Represent Sir Henry Morton Stanley one of the men that helped facilitate the subjugation. Once they stopped working Stanley and his man would force submission from the chiefs which got them land and a workforce. His methods continued to become more and more brutal. • 10. My Scariest Experience With Teenagers Teenagers like to make their own decisions rather than their parents making their decisions for them. At a certain age they think their parents opinions do not matter. Last summer when I had my scariest experience, I learned to listen to my parents opinions and to not be rebellious. I lived in Moulton Branch, a peaceful, quiet neighborhood where all one would hear were the birds singing in the day and crickets chirping at night. I lived in the neighborhood for about four years before we had moved. The house beside us was vacant for about two and a half years until my friend moved in. I had known her since I was a minor. Her moving next to us was a big surprise. We would go to each other s house every day and gossip about the previous school year and how we were excited about the next year. My mom thought she was a bad influence on me and did not want me hanging with her. Of course I thought it was nothing bad about her, except she did not dress according to her age. I continued hanging out with her because she was the only person I knew in the neighborhood and staying in the house all day was boring. Being rebellious and disobedient can lead to something dangerous. One day after my mom had left for work I went next door to my friend s house. Her house was like my house. It was clean and had a freshening scent so I felt comfortable like I was at home. Her mom was also like another mother to me. She asked if I wanted to have a movie night where we would watch movies and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Luther Standing Bear, A Native American Author,... Luther Standing Bear was a Native American author, philosopher and actor. Luther Standing Bear was a master at using rhetoric, because with it, he benefits not only his people, but also the human identity. Luther Standing Bear contributed all of his efforts to get the Native Americans a place in a world that was no longer theirs. Luther Standing Bear is a pioneer in what would eventually become a movement for Civil Rights. The ideas that he was using did not involve insults but rather, pointed out views that others hadn t seen or thought of before. Instead of using hatred and insults, he used his wisdom and his life experiences to express his views on the world, and why big changes had to be executed immediately. Standing Bear uses the opportune moment in the early 20th century, while civil rights was at its infancy to persuade the white man that the Indian was no different than he was. Luther Standing bear was born in 1868, on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. Luther Standing Bear s real name was Ota K te (Plenty Kill). For the first eleven years of his life, Standing Bear was taught the traditional ways of the Lakota. This meant that he learned how to hunt at a young age; he also learned the tales and the language of his people. Being taught the ways of the Lakota, Standing Bear would soon be introduced to world that made it impossible for the Indian to survive. Despite the fact that horseback riding is typically dismissed as a form of physical therapy, the physical, mental, and emotional benefits prove that therapeutic riding is a valuable form of therapy. • 13. Similarities Between Cat People And Cat People Both Jacques Tourneur s 1942 film Cat People, along with Gunther von Fritsch 1944 follow up, Curse of the Cat People, remain legendary pieces of artistic restraint. While many horror films of the era painted their monsters in broad strokes, Both Cat People films play like steady handed psychological dramas; maneuvering in the shadows with subtle detail and control. While the films dutifully touch on a wide array of themes, I believe each picture has an overarching theme Cat People s theme being the fear of women/women s sexual agency and sexual repression, while The Curse of the Cat People about imagination and parenting. I will be picking scenes from each film that I feel reinforce these themes. Cat People SCENE 1: (55:50 58:09) Dr. Judd sits in his office, questioning our protagonist, Irena. He stands up and sits on his desk, now above her asserting a dominate position. In an attempt to put a hole in her narrative, while at the same time making a subtle sexual advance, the doctor asks, And if I should kiss you? Clearly she is uncomfortable. Irena is telling the truth, she loves her husband and just wants to be helped however, Dr. Judd tells her that she is bordering insanity; he tells her to forget about her fears and live her life. She begins to believe him. In a sense he fixes her by gas lighting her fears and making her out to be an irrational woman. Once Irena is off balance, he reverts to his charming self again. • 14. Labontes Model Of Health And Wellbeing Sharon Calderwood PI G239534X TMA 03 Q1 How can where you live influence your health and wellbeing? In this assignment I will attempt to explain how a persons health and wellbeing can be both negatively and positively impacted on depending on where they live. UK society is distinguished by health inequalities, they are the unfair and avoidable differences in peoples health across social groups and different population groups due to social, biological and geographical factors which usually result in people who are worse of financially encountering poor health and shorter lifespans. According to Labontes Model of health and wellbeing (p53 health and wellbeing in neighbourhood) we are shown how health can be broken down into three main factors, physical, mental and social and each area overlaps to make complete health. There are many examples how the neighbourhood you live in can affect your health and wellbeing. To maintain good physical. Social and mental health we need the following resources. Good transportation route to local hospitals, nearby parks and walking trails, health shops, more education and employment opportunities, appropriate housing, more spaces for people to recreate and relax in like cafes and public plazas, local gyms, outdoor activities and better sewage and drainage. • 15. Lab Report On Redox Titration Redox Titration Carmen Ontiveros* Arlette Renteria . CHEM 1A Lab, Department of Chemistry, California State University, Fresno, CA 93740 Carmenchick@mail.fresnostate.edu September 23, 2017 The purpose of this experiment was to determine how much KMnO4 was needed to titrate approximately 1 mL of an Unknow X101 concentrated solution of Oxalic Acid. A standardized KMnO4 solution was used on a known solution of Oxalic acid to help determine the unknown percent oxalic acid in unknown X101. The unknown sample for this experiment was sample x101 which theoretically was a % Oxalic Acid dehydrate sample but, the average of all three trials determined it to be a 6.7% percent Oxalic acid. Introduction In this experiment, a redox reaction occurred. An oxidation reduction reaction (redox) is a type of chemical reaction that involves a transfer of electrons between two solutions. The chemical being oxidized is losing electrons and the chemical being reduced is gaining electrons. In this case KMnO4 is losing electrons and Oxalic Acid is gaining electrons. KMnO4 can titrate a or reduce Oxalic acid. Titration is the technique used to find the unknown concentration of one solution based on the concentration of a known solution. In equation 2, the molar relationship between the 2 is shown, it is 2 KMnO4 to 5 Oxalic Acid. The molar ratio relationship is useful because it shows how much of a certain product is needed to help a reaction occur and which chemical is limiting reagent. The experiment was started by preparing a titrating strength KMnO4 solution from stock to a less concentrated KMnO4. Equation one shows how this was done. The KMnO4 needed to be diluted, if it had not been diluted, then it would be way too hard to get an accurate reading of the Oxalic Acid used. Without being diluted the Oxalic Acid would be strong. The next step was to standardize the KMnO4 solution. It was calculated that 37.5 mL of Oxalic Acid could titrate 15 mL of KMnO4. To determine the exact molarity of a solution a standardization needs to happen. In this experiment the standardization found how much Oxalic acid was needed. Through the controlled variable, the fact that 37.5 Oxalic acid could be titrated by 15 mL of KMnO4, the percent of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Wrongful Convictions Of Innocent People Essay Unfortunately, wrongful convictions of innocent people sometimes happen in the criminal justice system. According to a new report from the University of Michigan Law School s National Registry of Exonerations, 2015 set a record for the number of wrongly convicted Americans who received justice; 149 people who were either declared innocent or cleared of their convictions or guilty pleas. Many of them had already served long prison terms for crimes they did not commit (Mencimer, 2016.) There are many causes that can contribute to a wrongful conviction. Witness misidentification is the most common cause; we know that the human mind is not like a tape recorder, and can make mistakes. Forensic analysts presenting evidence that has little or no scientific basis, false confessions by suspects during the interrogation process, government officials taking steps to ensure that a suspect is convicted despite poor evidence, testimony by people with incentives to testify, and poorly prepared lawyers are just some of the other causes that can result in a wrongful conviction. The death penalty case of Cameron Todd Willingham, of Corsicana, Texas, is one that experts now agree that the evidence proves he was wrongfully convicted. But unfortunately, he was already put to death by lethal injection. On December 23, 1991, the Willingham family home was engulfed in flames. He receives top honors at school, accolades from his American and Indian comrades, rises to the director of the local hospital, and becomes the richest doctor in his town. Critics argue this is Desai s comment about perfect Indian society, where adherence to filial piety, respecting one s parents, elders, and ancestors, is paramount (Crane). Rakesh s view of it leads to a breakdown in his relationship with his father. The father feels neglected by his family because they no longer respect his wishes. To Rakesh, belief in protecting his family from the ills of society, despite their temptation, proves his dedication to family (Desai). Filial piety in the abstract is a good standard to live by, but it could lead to destruction because adhering to it removes emotions. In the beginning, the relationship between Rakesh and his parents was an admirable one. Rakesh considers his parents feelings prior to making major decisions. From choosing a wife to becoming the primary caretaker to his father after his mother s death, Rakesh s sole desire seems to make his parents proud. Though the author does not dwell on the concept of filial piety regarding the mother, she shows her dedication to the family at the expense of her health. It is used as a motif in Pleasantville for the majority of the beginning of Jennifer and David s adventure (until things start to change, that is). This is especially significant with all the subtle implications and allusions to a Nazi style dictatorship. For example, the burning of books is reminiscent of that in 1936 when the German government burnt all books which would oppose its rule, in fear that the society it governed would think of rebelling. Big Bob is the obvious ruler, as he is almost always seen with a low shot, making him look big and powerful to the audience. Bob s situation is similar, burning books to stop changes occurring. Books are seen as works of art which are derived from the imagination of thinking people. Bob s censorship practices extend to the prohibition of Mr Johnson from using colours to paint (that is, from using the full extent of his imagination) in his Code of Conduct. In this way, he is much like the German government in the 30s. However, he wants to continue his rule without any violent opposition; only pleasantness . Comparison between Metropolis and Blade Runner Comparison between Metropolis and Blade Runner From the silent epic of Fritz Lang Metropolis 1927 to Ridley s Scott s spectacular Blade Runner 1982 the connection between architecture and film has always been intimate. The most apparent concepts that connect these two films are the overall visuals of both films and their vision of city of the future. The futuristic city of both Scott and Lang are distinct in their landscapes, geography, and social structure. These two films sought to envision a future where technology was the basis by which society functioned. Technology was the culture and the cities would crumble without it. Metropolis and Blade Runner uses the themes relationships amongst female sexuality and male vision, and technology. However, Gender roles and technology seems to be the most important part in both films. Blade Runner became a cult classic. The film may have survived long enough to benefit from a renewed taste for darker, more violent sci fi. It s appeal has less to do with a fascination for outer space (which does not feature beyond reference in a few lines of dialogue) than with a vision of earth and humankind in the near future (Roberts and Wallis Pg 157 8). Both films have a timeless quality to it, as they are representative of the future of our planet earth. Introduction: Research Question: How does changing the volume of Hydrochloric Acid on Sodium Thiosulphate effect the time taken for the X Mark to dissapear? The rate of a chemical reaction is the time required for a given quantity of reactant to be changed to product. The unit of time may be seconds, minutes, hours, days or years. For a chemical reaction to occur it needs to have a collision, and it is affected by several factors, such as temperature increases in general increase the rate of reaction, for the example 2O°C rise in temperature doubles the reaction rate. The scientific result for this experimet is the results from preliminary experiments support the prediction made. From the results you can see that there is a directly proportional relationship between the concentration and the rate of reaction. Ifyou increase the concentration then the rate of reaction will also increase. The volume of a solution will effect the rate of reaction because the rate of reaction depends on how much the molecules of reacting substance will collide, more volume of HCL make the reaction of Sodium Thiosulphate and HCL to react faster. This experiment is testing how the rate of reaction is affected when volume is changed. The theory is said that increasing the volume can increase the rate of reaction by increasing the rate of molecular collisions. This may cause a potential migration of pilots that would lead to many U.S. airlines having planes but no one qualified to fly them. Further contributing to the shortage is that the cost to become a pilot is already expensive, causing low interest in the field; this law would make it even worse. By calculation, if a potential pilot were to start today, he would probably be facing a debt of between $50,000 and $80,000 just to receive the flight training required to gain 250 hours (Chatterjee). Added to this is the cost of attending a college with an accredited program. Potential pilots could be looking at paying well over $200,000 in loans to be able to fly. There is still a need, however, for privacy in the workplace. More than ever before, high performance workplaces in the knowledge age need to provide workers with opportunities for both privacy and interaction. Workplace Privacy and Employee Monitoring As technology advances, so do the monitoring possibilities in the workplace; as a result these possibilities will raise the privacy issue in the workplace. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Manual muscle testing will be tested to assess the strength in muscles used for running such as the prime/strong muscles which are the hamstrings, gastrocnemius, soleus, quadriceps, and tibialis anterior. This will also determine the weakness in muscles such as the plantarflexors, dorsiflexors, knee flexion, and knee extension. Also, range of motion will be tested on the tight muscles such as the hamstrings, gastrocnemius, quadriceps, and tibialis anterior. When the muscles are tight, the runner will increase the risk of injury (Schipper, 2009). Gait analysis will be used to examine deficits to body function, stability, and describe how the patient will be running. This will help determine the patient s biomechanics and achieve adequate mobility. Lastly, we will perform a pain assessment to see what pain level the patient is at when running. This will help determine whether the patient is minimizing stress on the body to achieve no pain at all while running. To monitor progress of these assessments, we must know that if these muscles are weak or become fatigued easily, there is less control of the leg and the risk of injury increases (Schipper, 2009, paragraph ... Sommers does not believe that the unfair wage gap between men and women is authentic. Sommers assumes that there are many reasons explained the gap such as women s decision on the type of work they do, their field of study and the time distribution for their families and the workplace. Women should not blame others for the lower pay. It is because they are less likely to take jobs that require a lot of effort and physical ability. Nevertheless, Sommers calls it is a misleading act because it will create a chaos in the American workplace. Employers will have to settle in a lawsuit that involves discrimination and the continuing effects of past discrimination. Sommers decides to take sides with innocent employers in this case since they may not realize their actions are against the law. Employers will be hesitant when hiring someone. She strongly argues that the employers are innocent and have no idea when there is a pay gap due to past discrimination. She uses an example of universities to support her argument. Professors in the business school will receive a higher pay than those who teach the social subjects. The market forces are responsible for this variation. Women Association is not convinced that it s because of the market forces, so they try to seek for evidence to prove that the pay gap is related to past discrimination.
